The graduates of schools, in addition to their loads of the study of subjects and passing exams, should determine accurately their future profession.

The right choice in the modern world is becoming increasingly difficult. A great number of new and prestigious professions appear, more knowledge is required to implement one’s plans for his (her) future life. In addition, it is necessary to take into account the psychological characteristics of the individual. For many professions the character and natural gifts are not less important.

Since childhood I have dreamed of becoming a teacher. Initially, it was an unconscious desire, because my grandmother was an elementary school teacher, and I always envied her. I consider her a real celebrity, lots of students from her previous classes of graduates came to visit her, their parents always addressed respectfully and lovingly to her, she often returned home with bouquets of flowers. It was so interesting for me to attend her school activities and interact with her students.

A good teacher must possess many qualities: to be creative, hard -working, self-restrained, able to solve problems and make the right decisions.

While studying at school I have realized that teachers are different. Some of them have taken , without estimating their strengths and character. As a result, they fail to achieve good results in the work, and they ruin the life not only of themselves but also of other people, especially children. This is a very sad mistake which is sometimes difficult to correct.

Choosing a career (1) is not always easy. Dear students, fortunately you have already chosen it. Maybe you were encouraged by your teachers, parents or friends, maybe you followed someone’s advice or followed in someone’s footsteps, maybe it is your own choice. It does not matter. Now you are students of National Research University “Bel SU” – the University of the XXI century. And you are going to be teachers. It’s great.

It is known that teaching is a very difficult job of great responsibility and most specific character. There is a wide variety of work in teaching. A good teacher is not only a communicator of knowledge but a model of competence. He forms attitudes to his subject and attitudes to learning, becoming himself a symbol of educational process, a person who is teaching as well as learning.

A good teacher always regards capacities his pupils have, trying to temper his teaching methods to children’s abilities and aptitudes.

A good teacher must know the general aims of education, must know his own subject perfectly well, should plan carefully his or her work, assess pupils’ proficiency correctly, work hard to remain up-to-date in his or her subject, use a lot of different materials, equipment and teaching methods, do the best to make his or her lessons interesting, keep in contact with the pupils’ parents, help children to live in the community. School becomes a place of learning and living, of work and play.

That is why a teacher’s work involves many roles besides that of instructing pupils. At times a teacher serves as a parent surrogate, entertainer, psychotherapist and a record keeper.

Teachers who do enjoy their work show this in their classroom activity. They come to class prepared for the day’s lessons and conduct lessons in a way that suggests interest and excitement in learning, create an environment simulating children to develop their abilities.

A teacher is in the classroom to instruct. In order to do it perfectly well teachers must be able to hold the attention and the interest of the audience, to maintain an active but quiet and well-organized atmosphere at the lesson. Instruction also means giving additional help to those who are having difficulty, diagnosing the sources of their problems and giving necessary assistance.

Thus while studying at the University future teachers:

- master their knowledge;

- learn the principles of pedagogy, psychology, physiology;

- study the methods of teaching their subjects;

- make all kinds of experiments;

- develop skills how to use study aids, audiovisual aids and work with computers.

Teachers are good friends of their pupils. They want to see them competent, skilled, honest, kind and well-bred. Teachers help them to organize meetings, to hold pleasure parties, conferences and excursions. They organize hobby groups, sports activity, subject Olympiads (competitions).

Some people say that a good teacher has some of the qualities of a good actor. May be they are right. But a teacher works in quite a different way. His audience takes an active part in his play: they ask and answer questions. A teacher cannot learn his part by heart, but invent it as he goes along. There are many teachers who are fine actors in class, but are unable to take part in a stage-play.

Some pupils in our form want to enter the Teacher Training University and to become teachers at school. But I myself do not want to be a teacher because this profession is very difficult. The profession of a teacher demands a great erudition and a great patience to children. I believe, that people, who teach children, must have more time for self-education and must be paid well.

Профессия учителя является очень благородной. Учитель является очень важным человеком для каждой семьи, где живут школьники.

Я помню свою первую учительницу очень хорошо. Ее звали Наталья Викторовна. Она была доброй женщиной и уделяла много внимания всем нам. Она учила нас читать и писать, рассказывала нам много интересного обо всем, и она приучила нас к работе. Когда мы стали пятиклассниками у нас появился классный руководитель и много других учителей по всем школьным предметам.

Имя моего классного руководителя - Анна Ивановна. Она уделяет большое внимание нам и хочет, чтобы мы сдали экзамены хорошо. Большинство учителей, которые учили меня все эти годы- добрые люди и хорошие специалисты.

Некоторые ученики нашего класса хотят поступить в государственный педагогический университет и стать учителями в школе. Но я сам не хочу быть учителем, потому что эта профессия очень трудная. My Future Profession

Finishing school is the beginning of the independent life for millions of school leavers. Many roads are opened before them: vocational and technical schools, institutes and universities. But it is not an easy thing to choose a profession out of more than 2,000 existing in the world. Some pupils follow the advice of their parents, others can"t decide even after leaving school.
As for me, I made my choice long ago. I want to become a teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature. My choice of this occupation didn"t come as a sudden flash. During all school years literature was my favourite subject. I"ve read a lot of books by Ukrainian and foreign writers. I understand that reading books helps people in self education and in solving different life problems.
I would like to teach my pupils to enjoy reading, to encourage them to learn our national language and literature, which is the source of national culture. It is known that teaching is a very specific and difficult job. It shouldn"t be taken easily. The teacher is a person who is learning as well as teaching all his life.
Most jobs can be done within the usual office hours from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m., but teacher"s work is never done and evenings are usually spent in marking exercise-books and preparing for the next lesson.
Teachers do not only teach their subjects. They develop their pupils" intellect, form their views and characters, their attitudes to life and to other people. It"s a great responsibility and the teacher must be a model of competence himself.
It"s not as easy as it may seem at first. But I think that love for children combined with the knowledge I"ll get at the University would be quite enough to succeed in my work.
I"m applying to the philological department and I am sure my dream will come true sooner or later.

Моя будущая профессия

Окончание школы - это начало самостоятельной жизни для миллионов выпускников. Перед ними открыто много дорог: профучилища и техникумы, институты и университеты. Но нелегко выбрать одну профессию из 2000, существующих в мире. Некоторые ученики следуют советам своих родителей, другие же не могут сделать выбор даже после окончания школы.
Что касается меня, я сделал(а) свой выбор давно. Я хочу стать учителем украинской литературы и языка. Мой выбор этой профессии не был неожиданностью. Все школьные годы моим любимым предметом была литература. Я читал(а) много книг украинских и зарубежных писателей. Я понимаю, что чтение книг помогает людям в самообразовании и в решении разных жизненных проблем.
Мне бы хотелось научить детей получать удовольствие от чтения, помочь им выучить родной язык и литературу, который является источником национальной культуры. Известно, что профессия учителя особенная и трудная. К ней нельзя относиться легкомысленно. Учитель - это человек, который учится сам и учит других всю жизнь.
Большинство работ выполняется в обычные рабочие часы с 9 утра до 5 вечера, но работа учителя никогда не заканчивается, и вечера обычно заняты проверкой тетрадей и подготовкой к следующему уроку.
Учителя не только обучают своему предмету. Они развивают способности учеников, формируют их взгляды и характер, их отношение к жизни и к людям. Это большая ответственность, и учитель сам должен быть образцом компетентности.
Это не так легко, как кажется на первый взгляд. Но я думаю, что любовь к детям, соединенная со знаниями, которые я получу в университете, поможет мне преуспеть в работе.
Я поступаю на филологический факультет и я уверен(а), что моя мечта рано или поздно осуществится.
