Район на южной оконечности Бруклина [ Brooklyn ], известный как центр русскоязычной общины г. Нью-Йорка. Основное население (около 40 тыс. человек) составляют выходцы из бывшего СССР, в основном евреи, поэтому район часто называют "маленькой Одессой". Центральная улица - Брайтон-Бич-авеню ; на ней расположено множество магазинов и ресторанов (например, "Приморский", "Кавказ", "Националь") с вывесками на русском, украинском, армянском, грузинском языках. Рядом - известный книжный магазин "Черное море", редакция газеты "Новое русское слово". Пришедший в упадок район расцвел в период иммиграции евреев из СССР в США в начале 70-х гг.
