The most important object of which is the Central War Museum, which opened on the 50th anniversary of the great Victory. The obelisk in front of the museum entrance is the tallest monument in our country, and the ensemble of fountains on the main alley is the largest in the capital. At night, the red illumination of the fountains reminds of the blood shed by the defenders of the Motherland. In addition to the traditional Eternal Flame, monuments and military equipment, there was a place in the park for an Orthodox church in honor of the patron saint of the military - St. George the Victorious. The mosque's minaret is nearby, and the synagogue houses a museum dedicated to the Holocaust.

Arc de Triomphe - Metro stop "Park Pobedy" 0+

On Poklonnaya Hill, the conqueror of Europe, Napoleon, waited for Moscow officials to bring him the keys to the city, but it all ended with Russian troops in Paris. Moscow was preparing to honor the winners, but then Tsar Alexander I behaved unexpectedly: he canceled the celebrations. The triumphal arch appeared under the next emperor, but its fate was unexpected: a hundred years later, the new authorities would destroy the monument. What we see now is a careful reconstruction carried out in 1968.

Panorama “Battle of Borodino” - stop “Panorama “Battle of Borodino”” 0+

The 115-meter panorama of the Battle of Borodino was created by artist Franz Roubaud for the centenary of the grandiose battle between Russian and Napoleonic troops. The battle ended in a conditional draw, so at a council in the village of Fili near Moscow, it was decided to burn Moscow in order to save Russia. The peasant hut, in which the fateful council took place, served as the basis for this memorial complex.

Kutuzovsky Ave., 38, building 1

"God-rati-on!" - so, on the verge of blasphemy, Derzhavin glorified the valor of the Georgian prince, who became one of the main heroes of the war with Napoleon. But in our time, in order to consecrate the bronze “god of the army,” the Georgian patriarch personally came to Moscow. This monument to Prince Peter Bagration is an almost exact copy of the monument erected in his homeland in Tbilisi.

Where the most ceremonial street of the capital now lies, during the Napoleonic Wars there was the village of Fili. The commander of the Russian troops, Mikhail Kutuzov, made an unpopular decision here - to surrender Moscow in order to preserve the army. The same Smolensk road along which Napoleonic troops advanced on Moscow and then retreated from Russia began here.

In 1965, Moscow was awarded the title of Hero City for the steadfastness of its residents in the fight against the German invaders, and in the 70s this 40-meter obelisk made of gray granite, crowned with the star of the Hero of the Soviet Union, appeared. It is no coincidence that it was installed in the west of the capital. It was here, along the old Smolensk road, that uninvited guests from Europe burst in so many times, but each time they were turned away from the gate.

Kyiv Station - stop "Kyiv Station"

The construction of the Kievsky station coincided with the celebrations of the centenary of the war with Napoleon in 1912. Before this, Borodino trains departed from an unremarkable one-story building, but for the anniversary they designed a new one. Military themes were reflected in bas-reliefs, sculptures and paintings.

Observation deck on the Sparrow Hills - stop "University Square" 0+

On the steep bank of the Moscow River there is one of the most popular observation platforms in the capital, from which you can see the bell tower of the Novodevichy Convent, the Ostankino TV tower, and six Stalinist high-rise buildings. The last, seventh, is located directly behind - this is the main building of Moscow State University. Stationary binoculars allow you to see the panorama in tenfold magnification. Napoleon also overlooked Moscow from here, and it was in this place that the Cathedral of Christ the Savior was supposed to be erected in honor of the victory over him. Where the monument temple was built as a result is easy to determine from the observation deck. But the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity, which has survived on the Sparrow Hills, is also connected with the Napoleonic wars. Field Marshal Kutuzov prayed here before the decision to surrender Moscow.

St. Andrew's Monastery - stop "Leninsky Prospekt, 34" 0+

The first St. Andrew's Church on the site of the future monastery was built due to the inexplicable flight of the Crimean Khan Kyzy-Girey, who in 1591 marched with countless troops to Moscow. The sudden escape of the enemies was associated with the intercession of the saint, whose memory fell on that day, Andrew Stratelates. Moreover, “stratilates” translated from Greek means military leader.

Neskuchny Garden - Leninsky Prospekt stop 0+

In the 1930s, the quiet and peaceful landscape park was the place where the GTO standards for shooting were passed, and at the beginning of the war, a bunker was even equipped in Neskuchny Garden. Now the rotunda dedicated to the 800th anniversary of Moscow reminds of military events of different eras. But besides the bas-reliefs glorifying the real victories of Russian weapons, in the clearings nearby you can see elves and hobbits fencing - Tolkienists have been gathering here on Thursdays for many years in a row.

Leninsky Prospekt, 32a

The second widest street in Moscow, and for a long time also the longest, was built in such a way as to capture the imagination of foreign delegations heading from Vnukovo International Airport to the Kremlin. And two residential buildings, No. 30 and No. 37, act as the main gates of the capital. Both Stalin buildings stand on the sides of the avenue, like fortresses with towers. NKVD employees lived in one of them, and trade union bosses in the other.
