Teaching English using the method. Modern methods of learning English

Having firmly decided to learn English on your own, you will definitely be faced with the problem of choosing an effective methodology, of which there are a great many. Only you decide which method to choose.

What to focus on when choosing?

  • Firstly, your level of language proficiency
  • Secondly, on personal financial and time capabilities
  • Thirdly, based on your own intuitive desire

Dragunkin method

Dragunkin's method Alexander Dragunkin clearly and intelligibly explains the basics of English. Dragunkin's method for learning English is perfect for quickly learning and memorizing. The grammar is simplified as much as possible, the rules are simplified. There are courses for both beginners and advanced.

Dragunkin has a completely different approach to teaching, his own terminology, his own laws, his own vocabulary. He even remade grammatical rules, systematized exceptions, and resolved the problems of using articles and irregular verbs. Dragunkin identified new classes and groups of words, uniting them according to common characteristics; revealed the relationship between them. The presentation of the material follows a chain, from simple to complex, one follows from the other in a strict logical sequence.

Teaching English is based on the native language. Due to all these factors, the training time is reduced several times, and the perception of educational material is noticeably easier. The technique is aimed at quickly achieving results. The purpose of the program is not to teach, but to teach.

Pimsleur technique

The Pimsleur Method American Conversational English will help you master the audio course “Pimsleur English for Russian Speakers”. See the article Learning English using Dr. Pimsleur's method. The Pimsleur technique also helps you learn to read correctly. Our website has all the audio lessons of spoken American, as well as reading lessons.

The Pimsleur Method is the only form of foreign language learning that includes a unique, patented method of memory training. The course consists of thematic dialogues with detailed explanations and translations. Phrases are voiced by a native speaker.

Students listen to the recording and repeat phrases after the speaker. Then the next speech pattern is announced and its meaning is explained. The student repeats it again many times, then he needs to repeat the previous phrases, at the same time inserting words from the new expression into it. New words are introduced, and old expressions are asked to be repeated after a certain, constantly increasing, interval of time.

A very interesting, and most importantly working, system of 30 audio lessons, half an hour each. The course was created specifically for Russian speakers who want to know the speech of US residents. No textbooks, just listen and repeat. And soon you will be able to carry on a conversation like a real American without any problems.

Schechter method

This is a completely new emotional and semantic approach, which states that learning a foreign language should be similar to learning your native speech. This method refers to direct game-based interactive methods of active learning. Politicians, astronauts, and famous people studied using this method. Even Western private linguistic schools paid attention to Schechter's method.

His methodology is built on a person-oriented approach, where it is important to pay attention not to what to do with English, but what to do with the person in order to make the learning process easier for him. A positive atmosphere, goodwill, learning without fatigue and stress - these are the main and mandatory components of each lesson.

The goal of each individual lesson and of teaching as a whole is to encourage the student to express opinions in his own words, rather than repeat memorized patterns and phrases from textbooks. Therefore, lectures are organized in the form of active human participation in the changing events of business and city life.

Also of great importance is the correction of speech and grammar, which students study in the higher cycles of the course. This technology is also used to memorize new material without memorization and rote repetition.

BERLITZ English learning method Another popular method is the BERLITZ method, which polyglots have been using for 200 years. It is based on studying a foreign language abroad. There are more than 400 BERLITZ language schools around the world. You can choose both group classes and individual training. Read the article How to study English abroad.

This method requires strict adherence to the basic principles:

  • First you need to learn to speak, and then master reading and writing skills
  • Grammar and vocabulary should be learned through natural, entertaining conversation, in a conversational context
  • Only native speakers should teach the language
  • The student must take an active part in the learning process
  • Native speech is not used at all and is excluded from training
  • Such a concept as translation is also excluded

Rosetta Stone

Rosetta Stone's English learning method The Rosetta Stone method is also recognized as one of the best - a convenient program for those who are planning to emigrate. Language learning from scratch. The user follows the same path as when learning their native language: words and images, pronunciation, grammar and syntax. The difficulty level increases gradually.

The Flash method allows you to learn English the same way you learned your native language from infancy - without rules. Mastering English occurs through repeated repetition, immersion in the language environment, and the formation of associations. This program teaches you to automatically perceive and reproduce the most common conversational structures.

The course completely lacks translation, instead there is an associative series. Vocabulary, syntax and grammar are learned through modeling of various life situations. The main emphasis is on visual memory. As a supplement, I advise you to read a lot on your own

The non-translation method means:

  • No rules or translation
  • Words are given immediately in context
  • Memorization is achieved through numerous repetitions

An excellent program for those who want to learn the basics of the language on their own without going too deep into the details. Pictures make the technique interesting, and learning occurs without stress.

Lex!

Lex program! - a well-known way to enrich vocabulary. Sitting at the computer, the user memorizes words, phrases, speech patterns that periodically appear on the screen. It supports the ability to delete and add vocabulary, edit it, change training intensity levels and time parameters. The characteristics of human memory, attention and perception are taken into account.

The user can install and separately configure various translation modes: direct, reverse, written translation, and their random alternation. The student independently determines the number of correct translations, which is an indicator that the word has been learned. Lex! — is accompanied by a detailed reference book that will allow you to quickly find answers to all your questions.

Muller method

Stanislav Müller's technique consists in the harmonious interaction of conscious and subconscious thinking. To increase learning and memory, the latest developments of Russian and Western science are used - superlearning and holographic memory:

  • Super learning ability - helps you master any skill several times faster. At the same time, you get tired much less and maintain a high level of performance
  • Holographic memory - helps to systematize life experiences, increases memory capabilities, and allows you to restore the ability to master language

During the course, exercises are performed to improve imagination, which helps memorize lexical material. The course solves the problems of understanding spoken language, fluent reading, writing and speaking.

Frank method

I recommend Ilya Frank’s method, which is based on learning English through reading special texts. With constant reading in this way over the course of a year, you can learn to speak fluently, thanks to the special arrangement of the original text and the translation. At the same time, memorizing words and phrases does not occur through cramming, but through their constant repetition in the text.

Still the same non-translation method. In Ilya Frank's books, the text is broken down into more than a few passages - an adapted passage with a literal translation and lexical and grammatical commentary, then the same text, but without hints. You just read a book and learn a language at the same time.

The manager wrote up the sales slip (the manager filled out the form with the price). The crook looked at the slip and said, “This is a little more than I intended to spend.” Can you show me something less expensive? (could you show me something less expensive).”

The manager agreed and wrote up the sales slip. The crook looked at the slip and said, “This is a little more than I intended to spend. Can you show me something less expensive?”

The meaning of the unadapted text is that the reader, even for a short time, “swims without a board.” After reading an unadapted paragraph, you can move on to the next adapted one. There is no need to go back and repeat. You just have to read the following text.

Gunnemark's technique

You can try Eric Gunnemark's method. The Swedish polyglot recommends starting to learn the language by mastering an active minimum of words and grammatical rules. Why did he create a list of “speech cliches” that, in his opinion, you need to learn by heart yourself. Gunnemark called these collections “Minilex”, “Minifraz” and “Minigram”. All material is illustrated and voiced by native speakers. The course is recommended for beginners. Gunnemark's Method These “mini-collections” should not be neglected, because they provide guidance on what to focus on from the very beginning. Mastering a “mini-repertoire” will give a beginner self-confidence. The lists included in this collection are structured in such a way that the student masters the essentials on his own. After all, when you have well-mastered material and basic knowledge behind you, you inevitably begin to feel much more confident in any environment.

For Gunnemark, all teaching is subject to the following principles:

  • Particular attention is paid to the “central words”, that is, to those words that most often “roll off the tongue”
  • You need to learn not individual words, but entire expressions. You don't need to learn everything. For each typical situation, memorize 1-2 expressions, but “by heart”
  • It is better to learn one word perfectly than to learn several words poorly. No synonyms needed. Learn the main word
  • Try to use the learned expressions as often as possible
  • It is necessary to learn the basics of good correct pronunciation as quickly as possible.
  • Master the required minimum grammar
  • The most useful thing is reading

The linguist considers labor, time, teachers and material to be external factors for successful learning. That is, how quickly you will progress in learning depends directly on your ability to organize your work and time, on the chosen methodology and teacher.

As you can see, there are many ways and they are all different. Which one is better is up to you to decide. But having studied their basic principles, we can come to the conclusion that the main thing is communication and reading. To which I also join.

Do you know any other interesting techniques? Tell us about them in the comments. I wish you success and sustainable results!

Traditional methods of learning a foreign language are ways of knowing that are used in school. All others are called non-traditional. But this does not mean that they are new or unrecognized.

Their most significant difference from the generally accepted system is that non-traditional methods fundamentally disagree with classical methods, and therefore offer their own ways of learning foreign languages.

Pimsleur method

Learning English using Dr. Pimsleur's method also has a right to exist, and here's why:

  1. Systematicity. The method is a well-thought-out system of 13 consecutive lessons.
  2. Equal importance is given to both listening and reproducing material.
  3. Each lesson must be voiced by two people - a Russian speaker and a native speaker.

Frank method

Learning English using the Ilya Frank method is based on reading literature adapted in a special way. Its features are as follows:

  1. Translation of information is provided after small fragments and is presented in brackets.
  2. Large sentences are divided into small fragments, individual phrases. After reading the text with “crutches” (as hints in the form of translations are called), the same text follows, but without translation.
  3. Rapid growth of passive vocabulary.

Umin Method

His method of auditory and motor engrams is outlined in just 50 pages. It consists of automatically learning English by speaking and perceiving phrases. And here are its features:

  1. The engram method (memory trace method) is based on the example of the characteristics of speech acquisition in children. The author also used his own knowledge about the mechanisms of the brain in the learning process.
  2. Structured system of daily activities. Great success can be achieved by devoting just 15-20 minutes to learning every day.
  3. The ability to achieve a level equal to that of a native speaker by proportionally increasing the daily study time.

Stone Method

Rosetta Stone dedicated her technique to those who spend a lot of time at the computer. But these are not all its features:

  1. Gradual immersion of the user into the native language environment.
  2. No quick transitions from simple to complex - only uniform immersion and complication.
  3. Initial acquaintance with simple words, smoothly moving to complex speech structures, syntax and grammar.

The best way to learn English

We have become acquainted with the most popular ways and techniques of self-learning English from scratch. At the same time, it is necessary to understand that among them there is no best method for learning a foreign language.

With a huge number of advantages of all these methods, each of them has one big drawback: none of them guarantees a 100%, fast and effective way to independently learn a foreign language for everyone. Why?

The fact is that all people have different dominant ways of perceiving information. Some of us are auditory, that is, we perceive information primarily through the auditory channels. Other visuals are people who perceive and process information primarily through the visual channel. There are also kinesthetics and digitals, which also have their own characteristics.

So, each method of learning English will be effective only for one or two types of people.

We should not forget that these methods of quickly learning English are focused, as a rule, not on everything, but only on some aspects of the language (grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening comprehension).

The best foreign language techniques should be designed in such a way that each language aspect is equally well developed. And this method a priori cannot be quick and easy. In this case it will be better.

Therefore, we can only wait for the emergence of new unique and effective methods of independent learning of foreign languages (especially English as a world language). Well, while you wait, there will always be a reliable friend next to you - a student help service, whose specialists will always help with translations, tests or other English work.

Learning a new language is complex and has individual characteristics. While some are banging their heads against the wall, trying to memorize at least “my name is Vasya,” others are already easily reading Hamlet in the original and communicating with foreigners at ease. Why is the learning process so easy for them? Are there any special secrets to mastering a foreign language? You will learn about this below.

How we learn a language

When someone says that they are unable to learn a new language, you want to object in response.

Anyone can learn a new language. This ability is hardwired into our brains from birth. It is thanks to her that we unconsciously and naturally master our native language. Moreover, being placed in an appropriate language environment, children are able to master a foreign language without any stress.

Yes, then we go to school, learn grammar and punctuation, polish and improve our knowledge, but the basis of our linguistic skills is precisely the foundation that was laid in early childhood. Please note that this happens without any tricky techniques, language classes or textbooks.

Why can’t we, as adults, just as easily learn a second, third, fourth language? Maybe this linguistic ability is inherent only in children, and disappears as they grow older?

This is partly true. The older we get, the more our brain's plasticity (its ability to create new neurons and synapses) decreases. In addition to purely physiological obstacles, there is one more thing. The fact is that the process of language acquisition in adulthood is fundamentally different from that of childhood. Children are constantly immersed in a learning environment and gain new knowledge at every step, while adults, as a rule, set aside certain hours for classes and use their native language the rest of the time. Motivation is equally important. If a child simply cannot live without knowing a language, then an adult without a second language is quite capable of existing successfully.

This is all understandable, but what practical conclusions can be drawn from these facts?

How should we learn a language?

If you want to quickly and efficiently master a foreign language, then while learning you should try to follow some simple tips. They are aimed at minimizing the effect of age-related changes in your brain, and will also help you go through the entire process as easily and quietly as children do.

Spaced Repetition

This technique allows you to better remember new words and concepts. It lies in the fact that you must repeat the studied material at certain intervals, and the further you go, the smaller these intervals are. For example, if you are learning new words, they should be repeated several times during one lesson, then repeated the next day. Then again after a few days and finally fix the material after a week. Here's what the process looks like on a graph:

One successful application that uses this approach is . The program is able to track which words you have learned and reminds you to repeat them after a certain time. At the same time, new lessons are built using material already studied, so that the knowledge you gain is consolidated quite firmly.

Learn a language before bed

Learning a new language requires, for the most part, simply memorizing large amounts of information. Yes, for grammar rules it is advisable to understand their application, but basically you will have to learn new words along with examples. For better memorization, do not miss the opportunity to repeat the material again before going to bed. A study by American scientists confirmed that memorization before bedtime is much stronger than in a lesson held during the day.

Learn content, not just language

Teachers with extensive experience know very well that abstract learning of a foreign language is much more difficult than if it is used to master some interesting material. Scientists also confirm this. For example, a recent experiment was conducted in which one group of participants learned French in the usual way, while the other was taught a basic subject in French instead. As a result, the second group showed significant progress in listening comprehension and translation. Therefore, try to be sure to supplement your studies with the consumption of content that interests you in the target language. This could be listening to podcasts, watching movies, reading books, etc.

We are all constantly busy, and finding time for full-time activities is not so easy. Therefore, many people limit themselves to 2-3 hours a week, specifically allocated for a foreign language. However, it is much better to practice, albeit for less time, but every day. Our brain does not have such a large RAM buffer. When we try to cram the maximum amount of information into it in one hour, overflow quickly occurs. Smaller but frequent sessions are much more beneficial. Special exercises that will allow you to study at any free moment are simply ideal for this.

Mix old and new

We try to quickly advance in training and gain more new knowledge. However, this is not entirely correct. Things progress much better when new things are mixed with already familiar material. This way we not only learn fresh material more easily, but also reinforce the lessons we have learned. As a result, the process of mastering a foreign language occurs much faster.

Every person who wants to learn a language has a question: “What method should I use to learn?” Now there are a huge number of courses for adults and tutors on the market who offer their services. And each of them teaches using their own methodology, claiming that it is the most effective.

Unfortunately, most methods are not like this. And contrary to promises, language learning lasts for several years and does not give the desired results. How to avoid disappointments?

Today we will talk about 5 main methods of teaching English and see what results you can get by studying them. In the end, you will understand which technique suits you best.

1. Special techniques (25th frame, hypnosis, associations, songs)

A lot of people want to learn English quickly and easily. In this regard, quite unusual methods have appeared on the service market, promising amazing results without requiring much effort.

How are the classes structured?

This, of course, depends on which learning method you choose. For example, training using the 25 frame method is carried out by watching a video. However, all such activities have one thing in common: no effort required and devote a lot of time to learning the language.

What is the efficiency?

There are no easy methods for learning a language. All these methods are not effective. How many people have you met who can tell you that they learned English using frame 25?

You may be able to remember a certain number of words. However, they will not teach you how to use the language, that is, write and speak it, construct sentences correctly, or understand your interlocutor.

What is the result?

You will be able to learn a number of words. But you will not get the promised “magic” result.

2. Classic method of teaching English

Remember her? It was this method that we were all taught at school, university and in many courses.

How are the classes structured?

The main focus of the classes is on studying the theory of the English language. Up to 90% of the lesson time is devoted to this. During classes, students read stories, translate them, do written exercises, listen to audio and sometimes watch video lessons. About 10% of the lesson time is devoted to speaking skills.

What is the efficiency?

Many people have experienced the effectiveness of this technique. After training, a person can write, read, translate and knows the rules in theory.

But learning English this way is the same as learning to drive a car, studying the structure of the engine, without getting behind the wheel. After all, later, when a person gets behind the wheel, he will not be able to drive.

After training using the classical method, when faced with a foreigner, you will understand that even if you can understand him, then you are not able to answer and formulate your thoughts.

What is the result?

This technique can give you only theoretical knowledge, but you won’t be able to speak the language. An important point: all theory without practical application is forgotten very quickly. This is why people remember almost nothing when they take long breaks from studying.

How long do you need to study?

This directly depends on your goal. Typically, completing one level takes 6 months. Training from entry level to intermediate level will take approximately 2.5 years.

3. Classes on a computer using special programs

This method is very similar to the classic one. The only difference is that textbooks and the teacher are replaced by a computer and programs.

How are the classes structured?

During classes you work at the computer:

  • read and translate;
  • do exercises;
  • take tests to consolidate theoretical knowledge;
  • watch training videos;
  • Learn to understand speech by ear using audio.

Almost no attention is paid to speaking skills either.

What is the efficiency?

Just like in the classical method, the emphasis is on studying the theoretical part. If you want to learn to speak, then you need to understand that doing tasks on the computer and watching videos will not teach you this. Therefore, when faced with the English language in real life, you will realize that you cannot express your thoughts in English and formulate sentences correctly.

What is the result?

You will know the theory, understand what is being said to you, but you will not be able to speak the language yourself.

Time frame for obtaining results:

Your training may last for many years. In addition, if you work at the computer on your own, the learning will be slower than with a professional teacher. Since only a teacher can clearly explain the material, correct and explain your mistakes, and, if necessary, help you figure something out.

4. Immersion in the language environment

This method was previously considered the only way to speak English. This statement appeared thanks to the classical teaching method. After all, people only taught theory, with almost no training in speaking skills. And abroad they finally started talking and got results.

How are the classes structured?

Training takes place abroad. Classes are held in the morning and afternoon, and in the evening you have free time.

During the lessons you:

  • Understand the theory;
  • Doing written exercises;
  • Speak a lot of English;
  • Discuss various topics.

It is worth noting that Russian speech is completely absent in such classes; all lessons are held in English.

What is the efficiency?

This form of training includes a huge amount of speaking practice. You speak English not only in class, but also in your free time, completely immersing yourself in English. Accordingly, training is very effective. But this also has its downsides.

1. This method is suitable for people with a language proficiency level of at least intermediate. For beginners, this will be a lot of stress. They simply will not be able to understand what is being explained to them. No one here will explain the rules in Russian.

2. The price of studying abroad is usually 3-7 times higher than studying courses in Moscow. In addition, you need to take into account the costs of food and leisure.

Read more about in what cases this technique is most effective.

What is the result?

For people with a high level of English proficiency, this method will undoubtedly give excellent results: a person will definitely learn to express his thoughts and think in the language, increase his vocabulary and improve pronunciation.

Time frame for obtaining results:

Of course, the first results can be obtained after 1-2 weeks of training. But to achieve visible results you will need training: from a month or more. In this case, you will significantly improve your English.

5. Communicative methods of teaching English

This technique is very popular today. At the same time, there are many supposedly “communicative” techniques that are not.

In this paragraph we will analyze the methodology of our course, which is called ESL (English as a Second Language). This will allow you to understand the basic principles that underlie all true communication techniques.

How are the classes structured?

By studying this method, a person begins to speak English from the first lesson. And this does not depend on the student’s level of language proficiency. Naturally, for beginners, very simple topics and basic rules are taken, which are practiced in classes.

80% of the class time is devoted to the practical part and 20% is devoted to theory. There is no point in learning a lot of theory and not using it. After all, it is important not only to know, but also to be able to apply this knowledge in practice.

For example, the Present Simple tense is explained to the student. The teacher explains in what cases we use this time and how it is formed. And then students, with the help of special speaking exercises, consolidate this theory in practice. At home, all students are required to do their homework.

What is the efficiency?

By practicing every piece of theory learned in practice, a person learns to apply all this knowledge. All the rules are laid out in your head on the shelves and are perfectly remembered.

What is the result?

By studying the communicative method, you will not only understand all the theory, but also learn to read, write, speak and think in English.

Time frame for obtaining results:

If you start learning English from 0, then:

  • 1 month of training is needed to start speaking.
  • It takes 6 months to reach the levelpre-intermediate (goal - English for travel).
  • 9 months to reach the level intermediate (goal - English for work).
  • about 12 months to improve your knowledgeup to upper-intermediate/advanced level.

So, now you know the features of the basic methods of learning English. Some of them are effective and really give results, while others are unlikely to help in studying. Some are focused on imparting knowledge, while others are focused on imparting knowledge and developing skills.

The most important thing when choosing a technique is to understand why you need English, and, based on this, choose the option that suits you.

Not long ago, my husband and I came up with the idea to learn English. We, of course, studied it at school and college, but our knowledge and command of the language leaves much to be desired. We wanted to be fluent in spoken English. We decided to start by studying modern methods for learning English. There turned out to be quite a lot of them. Let's look at the most popular ones in order; you may also need this information.

Self-study

Naturally, you can learn any language, including English, at home on your own. There are various methods for learning a language at home, for example, Eshko. This option was not immediately suitable for us. Firstly, my husband had already tried to learn English this way, but nothing worked. Secondly, a low level of motivation and control (this is perhaps the main reason for the failures of many students). Thirdly, a small amount of information or a reluctance to look for it.

And last but not least in my opinion: an ill-conceived training program. After all, you are not a professional in this matter and cannot know exactly what to pay attention to first, how much to do and how often. That is why we immediately rejected the option of learning English on our own.

The most popular school for teaching foreign languages (French, English, Italian and German). Main the principle of this technique is the principle of solving practical problems in the target language and a communicative approach . Thanks to the use of modern technologies, the learning process is exciting, bright and interesting.

Training can be completed in a group or individually. There are no age restrictions, just as there are no requirements for mandatory basic knowledge.

In addition to spoken English, the course program includes the following areas:

  • Preparation for exams (including international ones).
  • English for business.
  • Courses for marketers, accountants and financiers.
  • For pilots, doctors, bank employees.
  • Preparing for an interview.
  • Courses for representatives of the restaurant and tourism business.
  • Other narrow specializations are also being considered.

The most popular method recently has become the DS method. The effectiveness of this method is confirmed by numerous Denis’ School students.

Its main principles are as follows:

  • Transform chaos into system.
  • Make the complex simple.
  • Train everyone in a way that is easier and better for him.

Methodology of Alexander Dragunkin

It is considered one of the best methods for learning a foreign language. The duration of the course is only four months with classes attended twice a week. Many people claim that after the first lessons, you will be able to speak English and construct sentences correctly.

The secret of Dragunkin’s technique is that he:

  • Significantly simplified and formulated the rules.
  • Eliminated complex wording.
  • Structured the entire language.
  • Linked words into groups based on unifying characteristics.

Learn English using the Dragunkin method - easy and simple, thanks to a logically structured teaching method . This technique is suitable for beginners and those who already have basic knowledge of the language.

Schechter's technique

The author of this technique took a different approach to learning a foreign language. He assured that you need to master any foreign language in the same way as your native one. His teaching methodology is designed in such a way that the entire learning process takes place in the form of a game. The Schechter method uses various emotions to learn and remember material , because this is how children remember their native language. By the way, many celebrities studied a foreign language using his system.

In the process of learning a foreign language, special attention is paid to the mental state of the student. Classes take place in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Any tension, fatigue and absent-mindedness are not allowed.

The principle of teaching is to force a person to start speaking a foreign language in his own words, and not in memorized phrases from books. Practical classes are based on the student expressing his opinion on some issue. In this way, the thought process develops not in the native language, but in a foreign language, thereby expanding the vocabulary.

Teenagers especially like the Schechter method. Learning a language in such a playful way is what suits them best.

Another modern method of learning foreign languages that is popular. The principle of this method is to listen to dialogues on different topics . Dialogues are spoken by native speakers. The same principle applies to translation. Each topic has its own additions and explanations for deeper study.

The Pimsleur method differs from other methods of learning English in that it uses a patented method for developing memory.

Students first listen and then repeat the phrases they heard. Then the next part is listened to, students must repeat the previous and present part of the dialogue, and so on. With each new part you have to repeat more and more text. The more times it is repeated, the more it is remembered. This is the principle of Pimsleur training.

Rosetta Stone Method

This method of learning a foreign language is most suitable for those who are starting from scratch. The student must repeat words and expressions, ranging from simple to very complex . That is, the level of difficulty increases gradually.

The peculiarity of this method is teaching the language without translation. Translation is replaced by associations.

During the learning process, the teacher creates all kinds of life situations, and students must comment on them exclusively in a foreign language. Thus, the vocabulary is replenished, additional phrases and principles for constructing complex sentences are stored in memory.

Stanislav Müller developed his own method of teaching foreign languages, guided by scientific work on the study of superlearning and holographic memory.

The principle of his method is to involve the conscious and subconscious in the process of learning a foreign language.

Holographic memory - This is a kind of chip on which a person’s personal experience accumulated throughout life is recorded. According to Muller, this helps to better develop memory and makes it possible to quickly assimilate the information received.

Super learning ability - This is a higher way for a person to master new skills. We can say that this is an increase in mental performance with less fatigue.

In the process of learning a language, tasks are performed to develop imagination and thinking, which makes it easier to remember previously unfamiliar words and expressions.

A few words about other methods

There are many other ways to learn foreign languages. For example, the “1500 words and 200 expressions” method developed by Erik Gunnemark, who argued that a person does not need to know more words and expressions in everyday life .

Based on this belief, he created a dictionary in which he collected frequently used words and expressions and invited his students to learn it.

The experiment turned out to be quite successful. After studying the dictionary, students communicated freely with native speakers, making only minor grammatical errors.

In addition, some suggest learning English through songs and poems, from pictures or by correspondence. The last method is complicated by the fact that you need to look for an English-speaking person who wants to learn Russian. However, the advantage of this method is obvious and lies in the fact that with such language learning, vocabulary is well developed and the barrier to communication disappears (there is no fear of being misunderstood). After a year of such communication and study, you will calmly speak English, and your opponent will speak Russian.

Finally

Having decided to study any foreign language, it is important to decide on the teaching methodology. And to do this, you need to understand: for what purpose and how deeply you want to learn a foreign language.
