It is a cultural and educational center for the popularization of historical documents.

Leading federal archives and museums exhibit here unique historical and documentary exhibitions highlighting key events in the history of the Fatherland: "Orthodoxy and the Russian state (X-XX centuries)", "In the midst of a noisy ball ... From the history of balls in Russia in the second half of the XIX - the beginning of the 20th century”, “The Brilliant Age of Catherine. To the 250th Anniversary of the Birth”, “Emperor Pavel I. The exhibition hall of the federal archives is an integral part of the State Archives of Russia. This unit, opened with the aim of disseminating and popularizing knowledge about the main historical documents among the general public, appeared on Bolshaya Pirogovskaya Street in 2000.

The cultural and educational center in a relatively short period of its existence managed to turn into one of the most visited exhibition halls of the capital. A huge number of various exhibitions were held here, which were visited by tens of thousands of Muscovites and guests of the capital. This is largely due to the fact that the exposition of the center presents the most unique documents, photographs, as well as video and film materials, which arouse consistently high interest among the public.

Currently, the exhibition hall hosts historical and documentary exhibitions, which were prepared with the assistance of a number of museums and archives in Russia.

Constant partners providing rare and sometimes even unique archives for exhibitions are the Hermitage, the Peterhof and Pavlovsk museum and reserve centers, as well as the archives of the Federal Security Service and the Ministry of Defense.

A DAY IN HISTORY

Today marks the 140th anniversary of the birth of the famous ballerina, teacher, founder of the theory of Russian classical ballet Agrippina Yakovlevna Vaganova.

A DAY IN HISTORY

June 25 (June 13, O.S.), 1884, by decree of Alexander III, the "Rules on parochial schools" were established

According to the Rules, one-class (two-year) and two-class (four-year, from the beginning of the 20th century - three-year) parochial schools were created. In classmates, they studied the Law of God, church singing, writing, arithmetic, and reading. In two-class schools, in addition, history was studied.

The training was carried out by priests, deacons and deacons, as well as teachers and teachers who graduated mainly from church-teaching schools and diocesan schools. The activities of the schools were under the jurisdiction of the board of trustees, which included the head of the school, trustees, teachers, representatives from the city or zemstvo, and elected persons from the population.

In the Yekaterinburg diocese, by the mid-1890s, 117 parochial educational institutions were opened, by 1900 their number increased to 162 schools.

Since the beginning of the 20th century, state appropriations for church schools have been reduced. The number of schools began to decrease. By the decision of the Provisional Government of June 20, 1917, almost all parochial schools were transferred to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Public Education. After 1917, the parochial school was completely liquidated by the decision of the Council of People's Commissars of December 24, 1917 "On the transfer of upbringing and education from the spiritual department to the jurisdiction of the People's Commissariat for Education"

A DAY IN HISTORY

(12) On June 24, 1812, the army of the French Emperor Napoleon I invaded Russia without declaring war. The Patriotic War of 1812 began.

There was a myth that Napoleon's invasion of Russia happened unexpectedly. The emperor held a ball, and all the courtiers had fun. In fact, the balls of all European monarchs of that time took place very often, and they did not depend on the events of politics, but, on the contrary, were its integral part. This was an unchanging tradition of monarchical society. It was on them that public hearings on the most important issues actually took place. However, it is worth noting that Alexander the First Ball in Vilna nevertheless left and retired to St. Petersburg, where he stayed throughout the entire Patriotic War.

A significant contribution to the victory over the army of Bonaparte was made not only by Kutuzov, but also by the Scottish General Michael Barclay de Tolly. Even 5 years before the start of the war, he drew up a military plan for the Russian Tsar in case of an attack by the French.

Barclay de Tolly used the famous "Scythian tactics". The distance between the Neman and Moscow is huge. Without food supplies, provisions for horses, drinking water, the "Great Army" turned into a huge prisoner of war camp, in which natural death was much higher than losses from battles. The French did not expect the horror that Barclay de Tolly created for them: the peasants went into the forests, taking cattle with them and burning provisions, the wells along the route of the army were poisoned, as a result of which periodic epidemics broke out in the French army. Horses and people fell from hunger, mass desertion began, but there was nowhere to run in an unfamiliar area. In addition, partisan detachments of peasants destroyed individual French groups of soldiers. The year of Napoleon's invasion of Russia is the year of an unprecedented patriotic upsurge of all Russian people united in order to destroy the aggressor.

The collapse of Napoleon's empire began in 1812, when the French were defeated by the power of Russian weapons.
