Love for life

Olga EVDOKIMOVA, Director of the Central City Library,

MBU Centralized system of public libraries of Ufa

Some of my most vivid childhood memories are associated with my first love for books. Even now I feel warm in my soul when I pass by a small cozy wooden house with openwork architraves on Novo-Mostovaya Street. The whirlwind of time sweeps away these wooden laces from the streets of Ufa, and how much soft, quiet beauty and desire to express their love for their home, and behind it stood love for their fatherland. Here, in this house, the children's library No. 7 was located, and I was its young reader, here I woke up and remained in my heart for life love for the Book. Now in this house there is a museum of Khudaiberdin.

How careful was the attitude to the book! We certainly came to the library with a plastic bag (for 7 kopecks). And every time we were reminded that the book should be wrapped in a newspaper, the pages should not be folded, and not read while eating. This has become habitual for readers of the middle and older generation for life.

And still there was an impression of some kind of reverent silence. There were a lot of readers, but it was never noisy, only the rustle of turning pages was heard. I see even now: people brought up in respect for the book behave very concentratedly in the library, speak in an undertone, and are not in a hurry. Visiting the library for them is a holiday, a pleasure that you want to prolong.

In 1983, the Ufa Library College entered my life. It was located on Sochinskaya Street, next to the cinema " Ray". Two-story red brick building with large windows. At the technical school there was a small garden-square in which there was a gazebo, it was in it that I saw my last name in the lists of applicants who entered.

The curator of our group was Antonina Fyodorovna Artamonova, a straightforward, uncompromising, strict and demanding woman. From the very beginning, she shaped our characters in such a way that the librarian is “the assistant to the party in the struggle for the person,” as the library hymn was sung. The years of study were permeated with ideological education. Now, of course, hardly any of us will remember the leading role of the Communist Party in the development of librarianship, but we have learned to be responsible and disciplined. The concepts of "friendship" and "mutual assistance" were not empty words for us.

The first semester was the hardest. For many of us, the chosen profession did not seem difficult at all, because we all loved to read. But it turned out that it involves the development of such incomprehensible things as bibliography, library classification, catalog indexes, and the like. And what did it cost to learn library handwriting and poster art from the ironic Vitaly Mikhailovich Plotnikov ...

And I think I won’t be mistaken if I say that the most beloved of all of us were subjects of literature: Russian, foreign, and children’s. I still remember the lectures of Kaleria Vladimirovna Grigorieva. Always collected, smart, very tactful. With her melodious voice and profound knowledge of writers (she quoted everything from memory), she literally fascinated us. Not preparing for her subject was simply embarrassing. But the main lesson that we learned from her lectures was not so much knowledge of the subject itself. On the example of literary heroes, Kaleria Vladimirovna taught us to understand life, to be worthy people, to treat everyone with respect.

However, the most important (and the worst) was ahead of us - these are the readers, with whom we very soon encountered in practice. One got the impression that, before going to the library, they deliberately select the most tricky topics, look out for little-questioned authors in order to torment us - insecure trainees. But, in spite of everything, everyone loved the practice, because it was here that we first found ourselves on the other side of the library department.

A lot of impressions were left by practice in the children's library No. 33. At that time, it was headed by Taisiya Alekseevna Resyapova, a person infinitely devoted to the library profession. It seems that half of Chernikovka knows and remembers her. Strong-willed, uncompromising, sometimes tough, very demanding of colleagues, readers, but first of all to herself. The library was in perfect order in the funds, catalogs and file cabinets, there were no debtors. Taisiya Alekseevna knew practically all the readers by sight and by name, and enjoyed well-deserved respect.

From the technical school, Lyalya Ismagilovna Nazirova, who taught bibliography, supervised the practice. The subject seemed too confusing to me, but Lyalya Ismagilovna presented it so enthusiastically that she was able to captivate us too. She treated the students very warmly, was always interested in business, mood, tried to cheer up and support, because many were out of town, and went home only for the holidays.

In general, there was a spirit of respect in the technical school: freshmen for sophomores, students for teachers, and vice versa. Teachers tried to delve into the lives of students. Today it is hard to imagine, but we really did not want to go home after the lectures, and not at all because many lived in apartments. We constantly prepared for some evenings, competitions, designed wall newspapers, rehearsed numbers for concerts. It was considered in the order of things, if you didn’t understand something in the lesson, go to the teacher and understand the topic to the end. We liked to study, it was interesting.

Today, being a member of the final state certification commission, I notice that many traditions have been preserved here. The team of college teachers is still trying to educate true professionals who love libraries and readers, people of special warmth.

Our centralized library system has long and fruitfully cooperated with the college. Industrial practice, conferences, competitions, graduates - all this unites us. But still unites the love of the book, the library, the profession.

Many scientists believe that it was the ability to speak that singled out a person from the animal kingdom, and the invention of writing allowed him to accumulate wisdom. And therefore at all times the Book (in any - paper, electronic or any other version) will be the greatest value for humanity. What a fertile opportunity for a team of college teachers to be able to put this conviction into the minds of future librarians, because they can carry it through their whole lives, passing it on to their readers. And even though now such eternal values as love for loved ones and patriotism, kindness and the desire to help one's neighbor, are being devalued in society, I think this is only temporary. True moral values are not depreciated. Therefore, our profession, improving and changing, live forever!

"Like two wings..."

Rashit MUKHAMADIEV, Director of the Centralized Library System of the Beloretsk District

Libraries have always needed professionally trained personnel. In the newspaper Beloretsk worker” dated September 15, 1937 we read: “The city has a mass city library, a library at the SPKZ, in the Palace of Culture of Metallurgists and many libraries in educational institutions. But does the department of public education know the faces of the workers of these libraries, has it convened meetings of library workers, has it been interested in improving their qualifications?.. There are no norms for work in most libraries. The salary is very low, and literate people go badly to this work. It's no wonder that the city library can't find a second employee anywhere...'.

By the end of the 1930s, illiteracy in Beloretsk had lost its character as an acute social problem. But part of the population was still illiterate. And the staff of our libraries organized readings of newspapers, magazines, stories. In the newspaper Beloretsk worker”From 1937 we read: “The worker Karimov once came to the library specifically to learn about Pushkin’s life in detail. I had to spend a couple of hours talking to him. Leaving, he said: “I will send my wife, tell her too.”

Almost all of our employees currently have diplomas from the Ufa Library College. They fondly remember Galina Nikolaevna Angarova, a lecturer in the history of the CPSU, who was strict and demanding in class, but soft and friendly in exams; Boris Leonidovich Popov, a talented teacher of scientific atheism with an amazing sense of humor, who led a circle of readers.

How graduates of the 70-80s speak about the first teacher about the teacher " Organization of library collections and catalogs» Pavel Petrovich Kochemasov. Still would! After all, he taught them to draw up catalogs and file cabinets, to write in library handwriting!

It was especially difficult for girls to have such a science as computer science. Oh, and Boris Dmitrievich Strakhov caught up with them! They say he even threw a pen ... but he learned it! The GSNTI system remained in their memory for the rest of their lives.

The other day our young programmer asked: What is an electrophone?“How can he know this, if today the computer replaces the TV, and the tape recorder, and the typewriter, and much more ... But there was a time! For events, we installed electrophones " Leader”- were such, in the form of a suitcase. And they taught us to deal with them in discipline " Technical means". In the late 80s, this office was headed by a young pretty graduate of the Kuibyshev Institute of Culture, Valentina Yakovlevna Bikreva. Now she is the rector of the Ufa branch of the Federal State Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education " Chelyabinsk State Academy of Culture and Art ».

Books, especially the most read ones, tend to wear out. And here the knowledge gained in the lessons of bookbinding comes to the aid of the librarian. The teacher Vitaly Mikhailovich Plotnikov was a specialist in binding technology.

In accordance with the requirements of the time, the name of the library technical school has also changed - to the Ufa College of Library Science and Mass Communications. And in the press every now and then new "smart" words, scientific theories appear. For example, we meet: A modern teacher is a moderator, trainer, tutor...". Or: "A tutor is the one who organizes the conditions for the formation and implementation of the student's individual educational trajectory." Simply put: a consultant, a mentor, a student's curator who helps him organize his education. But UBT has always had such tutors! Venera Mansurovna Kudasheva, Railya Shaimukhametovna Khalilova, Galina Vasilievna Lychangina and many others…

Another priority of the modern teacher, which is paid attention to, is moderation. The teacher-moderator acts as an intermediary who establishes relationships between students. The purpose of its activity is to help each student realize their own capabilities, enter the world of culture of their chosen profession, and find their own way of life. There have always been moderators at UBT: Valentina Nikolaevna Lygina, Tatiana Alekseevna Vorontsova, Asiya Fakhrazievna Kurmangulova…

Now libraries are playing an ever greater role in the formation of social harmony and stability, in socialization, and in the development of the intellectual potential of people. Some experts believe that traditional public book depositories may soon disappear in Russia: if libraries do not develop and look for new ways to attract readers, they may die like a vestige. It is a fact that yesterday's readers began to turn to printed publications less, to read less, and, consequently, to think, draw independent conclusions, and make decisions. The residual principle of library financing, low salaries of librarians - all this negatively affects the prestige of the library profession.

In our republic, fortunately, there is the Ufa College of Library Science and Mass Communications - without exaggeration, one of the best in Russia. And it employs true patriots of librarianship, enthusiastic and caring people who themselves are in constant search, do not stop there and “infect” industry specialists with their creative energy. Our community covers various areas - advanced training, library competitions, conferences, and, of course, staff training.

The main thing that distinguishes the glorious staff of the college is an unbreakable connection with us, the public libraries of the republic. People say: " Big ship - big voyage”, especially if it is headed by the erudite and courageous captain Amir Radikovich Zainagov and his excellent assistants L. A. Mareshova, G. M. Kireeva and M. S. Titova. They are always aware of all the events taking place in the libraries.

The future of libraries is inextricably linked to the future of the college. We, the libraries and the college, are inseparable partners.

Eternal profession - library

Dina FATKULOVA, college methodologist

Along with many professions, there is one, at first glance imperceptible, but very important for its purpose. This is the profession of a librarian. Some will say that it is no longer fashionable, out of date and the salary of a librarian is low. But I do not agree with this opinion. Young people who have chosen this profession today can realize themselves not only in the library, but also in other areas of activity: be it an information center or a bookstore, a school or a House of Culture, the city and district administration or other self-government bodies.

Future librarian!.. His road to professionalism is not easy. How subtly he must feel, how much to know and be able to do!

The origins of the profession "librarian" come from the distant past. The first librarians were from the caste of priests and owned the secrets of knowledge and writing, kept the first collections of texts, which reflected the achievements of human thought, and therefore occupied a high position in society. Later, librarians (scribes, bookkeepers, antiquarians) were philosophers, scientists, poets. Initially, it was not so much a position as an honorary title. In the Middle Ages, the title of librarian was equated with the rank of state chancellor; in the medieval Vatican, he was in charge of papal affairs.

Since the beginning of the 17th century, the basic professional requirements for a librarian have been developed: he must be an encyclopedist, a polyglot and have extensive knowledge in the field of literature and history. The position of a librarian in Russia was first designated by Peter I. It was then that the definition of the concept of “librarian” appeared - this is “a person to whom a library is entrusted. It should be of many sciences and different languages ... a learned, moreover, a diligent reader, a solid memory and sharp reasoning, for he must know the quality at the beginning of any book ... ". Due to the high requirements for the profession in the 18th century, only professors were appointed to the position of sub-librarian. Only in 1913 did they begin to teach professions: Lidia Khavkina opened library courses at the A. Shanyavsky People's University.

Library scientists, bibliographers, librarians, technologists of automated information resources, referents-analysts of information resources, and managers come out of the walls of secondary vocational and higher vocational educational institutions today.

One of the six secondary professional institutions of the Russian Federation that train librarians is the Ufa College of Library Science and Mass Communications. Today, the college is a modern educational institution that provides training in several specialties. But the main specialty is still "library science", which gives young people the opportunity to receive a unique humanitarian education.

Being a graduate of the college, having worked in its library for many years, I am glad and proud of my involvement in such a unique profession as a librarian!

Scientist, specialist in the field of library science, library collections, author of many scientific publications, monographs, educational publications Vladimir Tereshin wrote wonderful lines about the library profession:

This specialty is not easy.

And they always appear boldly in it

Friendliness, compassion, kindness

And knowledge that knows no bounds.

In libraries, readers will be able to learn a lot from the inexhaustible source of Russia's cultural heritage contained in the book. And although there are many problems in the activities of libraries, in the future they should remain a special spiritual, moral, informational environment, where a librarian is an intermediary between a person, science, culture and education, an assistant in the process of forming an informational worldview.

That's the librarian!

Railya KHALILOVA, teacher, honored worker of education of the Republic of Belarus

Three holy professions - a teacher, a doctor, a librarian ... The latter stands at the origins of wisdom, knowledge, curiosity. It is he who is the guardian and guide, the interlocutor of many books and magazines. This passing word of his sometimes determines for the reader both passions and hobbies for life.

The library, of course, is not a temple, but isn’t a sacred rite performed in the reading rooms in the evening hours, when people, longing for their own and dreaming of meetings, nevertheless give a fraction of their time to a conversation with the past and present, hidden in thick folios? Scientists are born here, generations meet here, even love is born here, flowing with the energy of glances over books and lamps.

Society must “realize that if one in three or even five turns to libraries, the benefit from this is still universal, because the knowledge acquired by these people is dispersed and becomes the property of all, regardless of whether it was received by a scientist, a poet, a schoolboy or a housewife. » (G. Fonotov, librarian). Therefore, the outstanding Russian teacher N. Chekhov argued that the school and the library are "equally beneficial."

A modern library in a developed country is not a repository of dusty books, brochures and magazines, but a cultural institution that enables any citizen to obtain information also with the help of the latest equipment. There are not only printed but also electronic books, various information systems, cartoons, video films, electronic chess...

Say, there are not so many such libraries, but they are being created! And ahead of progress is the librarian. Collector and keeper of eternal values, "memory of generations". An unusually erudite and sociable person, generous, handing over the accumulated knowledge to everyone who is called a reader. Academician D. Likhachev, an undoubted friend of librarians, said: “You cannot see a librarian as a simple assistant to a scientist. The librarian is a scientist himself. But only he does not work on one, and, moreover, his own topic, but on many other people's topics. This is a scientist who gives himself entirely to others.” Agree, the score is high!

A librarian today is an intellectual and an intellectual, an employee of the information industry, who is always ready to provide the necessary information to anyone. Grains of truth and goodness germinate sooner or later.

There he is, the librarian!

In the newspaper Beloretsky Rabochiy dated September 15, 1937, we read: “The city has a mass city library, a library at the SPKZ, in the Palace of Culture of Metallurgists and many libraries in educational institutions.

In the newspaper Beloretsky Rabochiy of 1937 we read: “Worker Karimov once came to the library specifically to learn about Pushkin's life in detail.

For events, we installed Leader electrophones - there were such, in the form of a suitcase. And they taught us how to handle them in the discipline "Technical means". In the late 80s, this office was headed by a young pretty graduate of the Kuibyshev Institute of Culture, Valentina Yakovlevna Bikreva. Now she is the rector of the Ufa branch of the Chelyabinsk State Academy of Culture and Art.

The people say: “ A big ship - a great voyage”, especially if it is led by the erudite and courageous captain Amir Radikovich Zainagov and his wonderful assistants L.
