Department of Pathological Anatomy, Forensic Medicine and Genetics

The department was organized in 2003 by combining courses created in 1999, respectively, at the Department of Pathological Anatomy (Head - Professor I.S. Derizhanova) and the Department of Forensic Medicine and Law (Head - Professor V.I. Akopov), as well as the newly created course medical genetics.

From the moment of organization, the department has been headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor S.I. Lemeshko. Under her leadership, candidates of medical sciences are currently working at the department - associate professors S.I. Kutsev, D.P. Berezovsky and assistant S.S. Amelina, as well as assistants E.N. Maslov, V.V. Sem, O.V. Voronova and E.V. Serikov.

The department is located on the basis of the Center for Clinical Morphology and Genetics, established at the university in 1998 and headed by Associate Professor S.I. Kutsev. Work with students is also carried out in the regional bureau of forensic medical examination of the Ministry of Health of the Rostov region.

The main directions of scientific activity in the field of pathological anatomy are devoted to the study of the problems of carcinogenesis using immunomorphological and cytogenetic research methods. In the field of forensic medicine - assessment of skeletal fractures in bone tissue pathology, examination of the definition of the type of violent death, problems of legislation and practice. In the field of genetics - the development of modern problems of clinical and laboratory diagnosis of chromosomal syndromes, issues of ecological and population genetics. The staff of the department conducts joint scientific work with specialists from the Medical University of Cologne within the framework of an agreement on scientific cooperation between the two universities. Provides highly qualified assistance in the diagnosis of diseases of the population within the entire Southern Federal District. 3 doctoral and 3 master's theses are being carried out at the department.

Since 2006, the department has been actively involved in the implementation of a priority national project in the field of healthcare, ensuring that the Rostov State Medical University fulfills the task of improving the skills of geneticists, pediatricians, neonatologists, and pediatric endocrinologists of the Southern Federal District.

Pariyskiy Nikolay Vasilievich (1852-1923)
