How to develop the brain? Games that develop the brain. How to develop the hemispheres of the brain: right and left? What is the left hemisphere of the brain responsible for? How to develop the left hemisphere of the brain

The right hemisphere of the brain is responsible for creativity, creativity. That is why it is so important to develop the right hemisphere if you want to achieve great professional heights in life.

Each hemisphere has its own function

From an anatomical point of view, the left and right hemispheres of the human brain have their own functions. They are the following:

The right hemisphere is responsible for:

1) Imagination, creative function, fantasies, a sense of beauty.

2) Musical ability.

3) Verbal information (perception of words, the ability to build sentences and express yourself beautifully).

4) Perception of images and symbols.

5) Orientation in space.

6) Intuition.

7) Parallel processing of information, understanding of metaphors.

8) Control over the movements of the left side of the body.

The left hemisphere is responsible for:

1) Analysis and mathematical logic.

2) Language abilities.

3) Learning to write.

4) The ability to build cause-and-effect chains.

5) Control over the movements of the right side of the body.

As scientists have established, the development of one or another hemisphere of the brain is not given to a person from birth. It is achieved by numerous trainings, "pumping".

The difference between "M" and "F"

Despite the fact that in a person, in fact, both hemispheres of the brain should be well developed, in practice this is very rare. If we associate the development of the cerebral hemispheres with gender (sex), then the question of which hemisphere of the brain is developed in men can be answered: the left one. Which hemisphere of the brain is developed in women? Right.

The teachings also established that men use the right hemisphere for visual-spatial orientation and the left hemisphere when solving analytical problems, and women constantly think when solving abstract problems with two hemispheres at once.

In general, the result is as follows: men overtake women in logic and analytics, but women are clearly more successful in coping with creative thinking tasks.

How to develop the right hemisphere of the brain

Since the right hemisphere is more “creative”, and in the modern rhythm of life it is important to make not only correct, but also non-standard decisions, it is the right hemisphere that many people need in a stronger “pumping”. Try the following exercises.

1) Listen to beautiful music, visit art exhibitions, start painting yourself. Any activity related to the arts will contribute to the development of the right hemisphere.

2) Start keeping a diary, write short stories or just sketches from your own life.

3) Meditate with breath control. Learn to dive into yourself and "see" beautiful images and unusual situations.

Development of both hemispheres

Psychophysiologists know how to develop both hemispheres of the brain. Here's what they advise you to do.

1) Learn to use your left hand well and constantly do the same with your right hand: tie your shoelaces, brush your teeth, write text, etc.

2) Use "mirror drawing" as often as possible. This simple exercise is performed as follows: the subject takes two sheets of paper and two pens in each hand. Now you need to simultaneously draw any shapes on paper - zigzags, scribbles, circles, squares, triangles, flowers, leaves ... Anything! The main thing is to do it with both hands at the same time. Exercise develops both hemispheres of the brain at once.

Video on the topic of the article

Everyone is used to the fact that it is necessary to develop memory, attention, intellect, improve your body. But for some reason, at the same time, few people pay attention to the brain itself, on which the development of all this in most cases depends. Even the body will not develop and improve if before that the brain is not properly tuned in and does not think about how to start working on the body.

It is well known that the brain consists of two parts: left and right. For some, the left side functions better, for some, the right, and for the happiest, both. Win, of course, the latter, using their wealth to the maximum.

The left hemisphere thinks logically. The right one helps to create something new, to generate ideas, to integrate. However, you can be a mathematician with a well-developed left hemisphere and still come up with nothing new. And you can be a creator and pour ideas left and right and not implement any of them because of the inconsistency and illogicality of your actions. Such people are common. And they lack only one thing: work on improving their brain, bringing it into a harmonious state.

Psychophysiologists have long developed a system of exercises to harmonize the hemispheres of the brain. Good in this respect for musicians, for example, pianists. From early childhood, they are instilled with a harmonious perception of the environment. After all, the most important tool for the development of the brain is the hands. Acting with two hands, a person develops both hemispheres.

Exercises to synchronize the work of the hemispheres

Many of them are well known to us since childhood.

"Ear-nose"

With the left hand we take the tip of the nose, and with the right hand - the opposite ear, i.e. left. Release your ear and nose at the same time, clap your hands, change the position of your hands "exactly the opposite." I tried it, it was better when I was a kid.

"Mirror Drawing"

Put a blank sheet of paper on the table, take a pencil. Draw simultaneously with both hands mirror-symmetrical drawings, letters. When doing this exercise, you should feel the relaxation of the eyes and hands, because the simultaneous work of both hemispheres improves the efficiency of the whole brain.

"Ring"

We alternately and very quickly go through the fingers, connecting the index, middle, ring, little fingers into a ring with the thumb. First, you can use each hand separately, then simultaneously with both hands.

Now let's look at physical education lessons. No wonder we were forced to do exercises in which it was necessary to reach the right leg with the left hand and vice versa. After all, they also develop our hemispheres, and help them work in harmony.

The next workout helps relieve emotional stress, improves performance, develops attention, thinking and interhemispheric connections. The exercise is challenging yet interesting.

"Ambulance"

I explain the procedure. Before you lies a piece of paper with the letters of the alphabet, almost all of them. The letters L, P or V are written under each letter. The upper letter is pronounced, and the lower one indicates the movement of the hands. L - the left hand rises to the left side, R - the right hand rises to the right side, B - both hands rise up. Everything is very simple, if it were not so difficult to do all this at the same time. The exercise is performed in sequence from the first letter to the last, then from the last letter to the first. The following is written on the sheet.

This is how you can develop your precious brain for your own benefit. Train for health and have fun! And most importantly, feel the difference between your former self and your trained self!

Coordinate the work of the hemispheres of the brain

This simple practice allows you to revive one hemisphere that is tired of monotonous work and connect the non-working hemisphere to it. To do this, you need A4 paper, on which you horizontally, along a ruler, draw two lines crosswise with a marker, like the letter X laid on its side. Hang this sheet at eye level so that it is convenient for you to look at it. Then you can not take it off, let it hang and remind you of the need to take care of yourself.

Looking at this sheet, breathing calmly and deeply, you do just two simple exercises, known from physical education lessons:

  • touch the right knee with the left elbow, then the left knee with the right elbow, it is desirable that the back be straight. Such cross movements must be done six times, only 12. You can do and count.
  • touch the left knee with the left elbow, then the right knee with the right elbow, it is desirable that the back be straight. Such parallel movements must also be done six times.
  • Again 12 cross movements;
  • Another 12 parallel movements;
  • and the last 12 crossovers.

All this will take you no more than 1.5 minutes, and you will immediately feel the effect in a noticeably refreshed head.

In fact, the exercise is used to correct the left and right hemisphere children. It is taken from applied kinesiology, the modern science of the body, and is based on the observation of infants. If the baby has not passed the crawling stage, he may have problems in the joint work of the hemispheres, which means that he will not use his potential by working with only half of the brain. We will apply this knowledge in a preventive way to restore the coordinated work of the brain.

Consciousness

Here is a special program that has been developed over the years in seminars. Both athletes and people who connected their lives with meditation took part in this.

The exercises are called Consciousness Training. At first glance, they will not be pleasant. With their help, you realize how easy it is to find yourself in a difficult life situation and how difficult it is to find a way out of this and be reborn. Consciousness training is, first of all, a complex of physical exercises, as well as mobility in every sense.

The American therapist Jean Houston found that during the training of consciousness, the IQ increases significantly. Obviously, exercise leads to the formation of new nerve cells in the brain. A large number of these cells leads to an increase in the capabilities of the intellect.

Such exercises are ideal for fulfilling the requirements of any complexity and the coordinated work of both hemispheres of the brain. They also increase our concentration. The program promotes the development of coordination between the brain and the body (coordinated work of the brain and parts of the body). By engaging the left hemisphere, it never occurs to us to engage the right, which would be useful in many situations. Exercise helps to coordinate the work of body parts.

This type of gymnastics can be enjoyable in the future and is more effective than it seems at first glance. Alya start with simple exercises, heavy ones can hurt.

Stroking the Belly and tapping on the top of the head

The first part of the exercises involves stroking the abdomen with the right hand in a clockwise direction. After that, tap the top of your head with your left palm, with the aim of increasing mental abilities with light spanks. Pay attention to the fact that the movements are straight from top to bottom and vice versa.

The third step will be decisive: a combination of both movements. At the same time, pay attention so as not to confuse the movements by mistake: rotate the abdomen with your right hand, and move it from top to bottom with your left.

After you get used to these movements, you can change hands. Such exercises are good for developing coordination.

Describing circles

This exercise can be performed both sitting and standing, but it is better to start by standing up. Lean on your left leg first so you don't lose your balance. Then start with your right foot to draw circles on the floor in a clockwise direction. If this works out, then you can proceed to the next exercise. Describe with your right hand circular movements parallel to the floor, but already counterclockwise. After that, go to the third task: do both exercises at the same time. Right foot - clockwise, and right hand - counterclockwise. This can be confusing, but therein lies the challenge of getting both hemispheres working at the same time.

Since the left hemisphere is more developed in women, and the right hemisphere in men, respectively, the body is divided into two parts: that above the waist is the male pole, below the waist is the female. This division is conditional, but it corresponds to the prototypes of Taiji, signs where black Yin dots lie on a white male Yang field, and vice versa, on a black Yin field there are white Yang dots. Accordingly, the right "female" hemisphere is responsible for the right "male" part of the body, and the left "male" hemisphere of the brain is responsible for the left "female" part of the body.

The more you manage to combine the exercises in this way, the easier it will be to harmonize our lives, as well as combine the masculine leadership traits with the passive feminine qualities based on sensations.

After mastering these exercises, you can change the direction of training.

Change the load completely and start training the left side of the body. You will immediately feel how far the training of the right side has progressed. And between the two parts there is an exchange of experience.

A good physical condition favorably affects our mental state, since everything in the body is closely interconnected. The microcosm of our organism and the macrocosm of the world and the entire Universe interact.

click clack

Now you can begin to perform complex coordination exercises. Stand straight and raise your right hand up. This position is called a click Now, after describing a semicircle, lower your hand down, this final position is called a clack.

Then, repeat the same with the left hand. And again, the position with the hand raised up is designated as a click. Now, describing a semicircle, lower your hand 90 ° to a horizontal position. Alya on the left side of the body is the klak position. The next movement, hand down, is again called a click. Thus, three changes of position are provided for the left side: upper and lower - click, and in the middle - clack. Coordinating the work of both parts of the body in the same click-clack-clack-clack-clack-clack rhythm will not be easy at first. Start the exercises at a slow pace, then the movements will automatically enter the desired rhythm. Despite the seeming impossibility of performing, this is a very simple exercise. The result will be unexpected and stunning

After spending a few minutes doing the exercise, you will get a striking effect. I recommend performing exercises before important events in which coordination is especially important. For example, before a long bike ride, they are just as relevant as the subsequent stretching, which, by tensing the contracting muscles, brings them back into shape.

For normal functioning, the brain, like the whole body as a whole, needs to be trained. Especially with age. As you know, the human brain uses its working potential by a maximum of 10%. People often notice that it becomes more difficult to assimilate the information they receive over time.

But there are a lot of situations when it is necessary. For example, duties at work or a completely new position, specialty, moving to another country, which requires mandatory knowledge of the local language, and so on. All these changes sometimes require turning on the brain to the fullest. However, often a person notices that, apart from stupor and fatigue, his attempts lead to nothing. What to do in such a situation? How to develop the brain, or rather, increase its potential?

Reading

As you know, every person has two hemispheres - left and right. There are general methods for development, as well as special exercises aimed at training a certain part of it. How to develop the left hemisphere of the brain? Reading is the easiest and most accessible way. Thanks to the book, visual memory develops, vocabulary replenishes, the nervous system calms down, and the ability to concentrate increases. In addition, the horizons are expanding and literacy is improving qualitatively. Since the left hemisphere is responsible for the ability to read, this can be considered an excellent exercise for training it.

Learning languages

How to develop the brain? You can study a foreign language. This knowledge not only activates the "main computer" of the body, but also contributes to the expansion of personal abilities.

For example, knowing the language even a little, you can visit the corresponding country, get acquainted with its culture, make interesting acquaintances. By the way, people who are able to speak even in different dialects are less likely to develop diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, and others.

Unusual ways of doing ordinary activities

How to develop the brain? It is good for the organism as a whole to do ordinary things in an unusual way. For example, reading text upside down. At first this will puzzle the brain, but after a while it will seem not so difficult. It is also useful to add variety to absolutely everything that surrounds a person. You should often change the route from home to work, make a rearrangement in the house. Explore new places.

How to develop the brain in the usual ways? Now we'll tell you. As it turned out, this is not difficult. The next level of training contains special exercises that have a specific effect on the hemispheres of the brain. But first you need to figure out who is responsible for what, as they say. The right hemisphere perceives data in the form of images and symbols, and is responsible for fantasy, musical ability, creativity, and sexual activity.

To train him, there are simple and fun exercises that even children can do. The first is to alternately grab the lobe of the opposite ear with the left hand, and the nose with the right, then vice versa. Here's how to develop the right hemisphere of the brain. If this method turns out to be too easy, you can complicate the task. To do this, you need to clap your hands between the change of sides.

Drawing with both hands

Now let's look at how to develop the brain, and both hemispheres at once.

We will describe the second exercise. All you need is a piece of paper and a pencil. If a person is right-handed, then drawing should be started with the leading hand. You can write letters, print patterns and anything. The second hand should almost simultaneously repeat the pattern in a symmetrical reflection. It is better to start with simpler options and gradually complicate the task.

Games

How to develop the hemispheres of the brain with the help of games aimed at coordination? A simple exercise is familiar to many from childhood and is called the “ring”. To do this, you need to connect the thumb of one hand with the index finger of the other. And vice versa. Fingering in this way, the speed should be gradually increased. This is an easier version of the exercise.

If it seems easy, you can try to complicate it. To do this, it is necessary to alternately attach the index, middle, ring and little fingers to the thumb of one hand, forming a ring. Games that develop the brain not only contribute to the activation of the thought process, but also serve as a variety during leisure time. After all, there is nothing difficult in performing such exercises.

fun activity

How to develop the brain? Also a fun entertainment, and at the same time an effective movement, is the simultaneous stroking of the abdomen with one hand and tapping on the head with the other, familiar to many from childhood.

This is another way of developing the brain, designed for the child. You can perform this movement at speed by arranging fun competitions. By the way, laughter and humor is an excellent and effective way to improve brain activity, as well as the general condition of the body. It turns out that useful is simple and pleasant.

Developing the left hemisphere

How to develop the left hemisphere of the brain? This topic should be considered in more detail. To begin with, a brief excursion into what this area is responsible for. The left hemisphere is actively involved in the processing of information received in the form of numbers and signs. Further, this information is subject to a phased analysis. Most people on the planet write with their right hand. So the left lobe of the brain is responsible for this order of things.

To develop it, you should solve daily mathematical or logical problems. As an alternative, stop using a calculator and do mental arithmetic. By the way, representatives of past generations were deprived of all kinds of creations of computer technology, so until old age they had a clear mind and excellent memory. What was worth remembering the intercity numbers of all relatives, and after all, a notebook was not always at hand.

Crossword puzzles and games

Also a good way is to solve crossword puzzles, especially since it perfectly activates memory. Further, it is good to do the usual things with the help of the right hand and foot. For left-handers, this may seem difficult, but this is the essence of the exercise.

There are also games that develop the brain. And many of them can be taken from a number of familiar ones. This technique is perfect for left-handers, as it will be more effective due to the unusual position. For example, a great game is badminton. The racket should be taken in the right hand and only work with it. At first it may seem difficult, but after a while the brain will get used to it and will begin to follow the commands. The movements will be more coordinated. Suitable games will also be table tennis, bowling and others.

Chess is an excellent game that also perfectly develops brain activity, especially the left hemisphere. Thinking over a strategy, calculating probable moves effectively activate the work of the "main computer".

Methods

How to develop the brain of a child and an adult? There are several more methods. These include:

In order for the brain to work well, do not forget about good nutrition and proper drinking regimen. Also, for productive activities, quality rest, 7-8 hours of sleep is important.

Finally

Now you know how to develop the brain. As you can see, there are many methods. Therefore, do not forget to engage in its development. Good luck!

The human brain needs constant development, but each of its hemispheres needs a special approach. The left and right hemispheres are responsible for different skills, habits and feelings. In addition, each of them serves the opposite side of the human body: the right - the left, and the left - the right.

The development of this or that part of the brain determines your skills. For example, excessive sensitivity indicates the dominance of the right hemisphere of the brain, and logic - the left. Is it possible to develop the right hemisphere of the brain specifically by resorting to training and exercises? Of course yes.

Right hemisphere of the brain - features

Before you engage in the development of the right hemisphere, you need to understand what it is responsible for. You should know that these are, first of all, emotions, intuition and creativity of human thinking.

With the active development of the right hemisphere, people are able to see the world as a whole, without splitting the picture into elements. So there is an improved perception of images and symbols, rather than alphanumeric values. Perhaps the main advantage is the ability to do several things at the same time and think about each of them equally, without ignoring the details. If we summarize the functionality of the right hemisphere of the human brain, then we can call it in one word - creative.

How can you develop the right hemisphere?

To date, exercises for the development of the right hemisphere, incl. lots of games. Note that these are not so much physical activities as techniques for motor skills, perception and pace. Some exercises may require tools.

Each of the exercises in the article will help develop the right hemisphere of the human brain. They can be used both individually and in combination. It is necessary to choose one or more of the most suitable for your lifestyle, which will not interfere with your daily activities. However, despite the exercise, there is an important rule - the effective development of the right hemisphere of the brain is possible only if the exercises are systematically performed.

The brain can be compared to muscles, the more you train, the faster their abilities grow. As soon as you forget about their needs, they weaken and even atrophy.

First steps in brain development

If there are difficulties with the choice of such activities, he advises visiting cultural events. For example, art exhibitions, folk art fairs, museums and more. Such places evoke various associations. So you can choose to draw or write short stories and miniatures.

It should be understood that the body and the brain are closely interconnected, in view of this, it will be most effective to influence the brain through the body. Remember that the right hemisphere affects the left side of the body and body.

In the event that you are used to writing with your right hand, then you should develop your left hand. For example, when playing a musical instrument, use the left side to play a simple melody. It will also be effective to replace hands in everyday activities. So when stirring sugar, you can change your hand from left to right and vice versa. It is necessary to bring these exercises to automatism. Of course, at first it will not be easy, however, you did not start writing in the first grade right away, as well as walking. If you practice like this every day, the result will not be long in coming.

Visualization - the beginning

This exercise for the development of the right hemisphere is not only useful, but also exciting.

It will be interesting for any generation, because we fantasize and dream, regardless of age.

  1. Visualization - close your eyes and imagine a white sheet of paper or background. Mentally print your name on it. Imagine that the color of the letters is green, then blue, and then red. You can also try changing the background color. The brighter the colors, the more effective.
  2. Auditory fantasies. To fully develop the right hemisphere, it is necessary to work with sound. Imagine that someone is calling you. Concentrate so that such a “vision” becomes clear. Try to identify who this voice belongs to. Maybe it's your grandmother or mother. The next step is to play the music in your head. The most effective is to remember your favorite song.
  3. Tactile sensations. Quite an interesting exercise in the sense of words. Take a comfortable body position, close your eyes and try to imagine your name. What is it? Cold and hard, like a stone, or affectionate and warm, like a beloved cat. Similarly, you can experiment with taste sensations and smell. It is important to try to present all visualized things in such a way that you can feel them with your senses.

Mirror Drawing for Brain Development

An excellent exercise that improves the efficiency of both hemispheres of the brain. Drawing, thus, involves both hemispheres, in fact, “pulling up” one of them, which is lagging behind in development. You will need paper and two pencils. Try to draw the same shapes with both hands at the same time. It can be rings, hearts, squares, anything. The main thing is that both the right and left hand must perform the same task at the same time.

Playing musical instruments is great for brain development, as both hemispheres are involved. This is a great workout that promotes rapid development.

Development through these exercises is very effective and the results are not long in coming. The only rule is consistency. By following these tips, you are guaranteed a developed, productive right brain.

How Mandala Affects the Brain

The mandala is a sacred pattern in Tibet and the Hindu religion. Contemplation of this picture can be called the first step with the work of the right hemisphere. You can draw a mandala or find it ready-made on the Internet.

Relax the body, starting from the tips of the toes and ending with the muscles of the face. Concentrate on the center of the pattern (3 minutes). After a while, you will notice that the drawing began to “play”, as in a kaleidoscope.

By the way, in Tibet, monks use mandala drawing as one of the most difficult practices. They collect patterns from colored grains. Such an occupation can last not a day or two, sometimes reaching up to several months. At the end of the drawing, the pattern is erased with one wave of the hand.

In 1975, the State of California presented the Distinguished Research Award to Paul Dennison. The scientist proposed through various exercises to involve those parts of the brain that are less active.

During testing, the following results were revealed:

  • Improved concentration, and the ability to remember more data in a short period of time.
  • Increased stress tolerance.
  • Adaptation to new conditions was easier and faster.
  • Emotional state control.
  • After various loads, the body recovered faster.
  • Development of creative potential.

Exercises with such results are relevant not only for the younger generation, but also for adults.

There are a lot of classes according to the “brain gym” method, consider the most popular ones.

Symmetrical exercises

  1. Movements in parallel

When you walk, touch your left knee with your left hand, and your right knee with your right hand. You need to take 12 steps. It is necessary to ensure that the hands touch the knees alternately, without losing the rhythm. In this case, it is necessary to look at a drawing with two parallel lines, which should be at eye level.

  1. Infinity

Press your ear to your left shoulder, and stretch your left arm forward. Concentrate on your index finger and draw a horizontal figure eight sign. Draw from the center point up and to the left. Do this exercise eight times, and then repeat with the right side of the body.

  1. symmetrical pattern

Take a comfortable position of the body standing or sitting. At the same time, with your hands, draw the same, but with a mirror image, drawings. They can be drawn both on paper and in the air.

Asymmetrical exercises

  1. crossroads

The exercise is performed similarly to a symmetrical task. The difference is that you need to touch the opposite knee with your palms, i.e. left palm - right knee, and vice versa. Drawing for visual support - X.

  1. Gymnastics for fingers

Both hands clench into a fist. In one movement, straighten the index finger of the right hand and the thumb on the other. Then mirror straighten the index finger on the left hand and the thumb on the right. Return to starting position. Just? Increase the pace.

Another variation of this exercise is to throw out the other fingers at the same time. For example: on the left hand - the little finger, and on the right - the middle one. Then index plus nameless.

To complicate the task, you can add a circular or other movement to the alternation of fingers.

To begin with, I will briefly tell you what is brain gym.Definitions in the network can be found in sufficient quantity. If you do not delve into the theory, then brain-gym it is a system of exercises similar to regular gymnastics. However, its meaning is not in the development of some physical indicators, that is, not in increasing muscle mass or training endurance (although the overall tone of the body, of course, rises). But above all, the exercises are structured in such a way as to use the brain structures through movement, which are used quite little in ordinary life.

The creator of the method, Paul Dennison, while working as a teacher, was looking for an answer to the question of how to help children with learning difficulties. He came to the conclusion that with the modern approach to education, the load on the structures of the brain as a whole is extremely asymmetric. As a result, the brain cannot work efficiently enough.

In principle, researchers who deal with the issue of the functioning and interaction of the right and left hemispheres of the brain also write about the same. When learning, first of all, logic is involved, the ability to work with sequences, operate with numbers, and structure information. The left hemisphere is responsible for these actions.

Moreover, the left hemisphere of the brain is also responsible for the movements of the right half of the body. That is, when we write or draw with our right hand, it receives commands from the left hemisphere.

Perhaps the situation is different for left-handed people, although some sources claim that in this case, brain functions are mirrored, that is, in a left-handed person, the right hemisphere is responsible for logic, and the left hemisphere is responsible for creativity. That is, the skew here is exactly the same, and everything that is written from the point of view of the right-hander will also be true for the left-hander - adjusted for mirroring.

So, Paul Dennison suggested that you can use less loaded areas of the brain through movement. His research has culminated in the discipline of educational kinesiology. Special sets of exercises were developed, which he immediately tested in practice. As a result, the performance of the students with whom Paul Dennison worked has improved markedly. Pupils began to perceive, memorize and reproduce information easier, they were less tired in the lessons and they needed less time to rest and recover between classes.

In 1975, Paul received the Distinguished Research Award from the University of Southern California. He received his doctorate in education from research in reading learning and development of cognitive and thinking skills. Paul Dennison's methodology began to be widely introduced into the educational institutions of America, but at the same time it caused a lot of critical comments.

Currently, there are no scientifically sufficient studies confirming the effectiveness of the method. Educational kinesiology officially considered pseudoscience.

Which does not at all prevent a large number of teachers, lecturers and trainers from using sets of exercises in their work. brain gym.

I came across articles on the net about quite convincing results of using this gymnastics in correctional pedagogy in our country (if you are looking specifically for Russia, enter “brain Jim” in a search engine so as not to dig into English-language sites).

In general, in my opinion, if the method works, why not use it?

The main results that are noted after the start of classes on the system brain gym:

  • Improving attention and perception, the ability to remember more information in less time;
  • Increasing resistance to stress;
  • Easier adaptation to new conditions or requirements;
  • Improved emotional state, better control over emotions;
  • Faster recovery after exertion or stressful situations;
  • Development of creative abilities.

As you can see, this can be useful not only for children with learning difficulties, but also for well-educated adults. Therefore, the scope of the complex brain gym wide enough. It is used in preparation for exams, in stressful situations, just like gymnastics, which increases the overall tone of the body.

As you understand, I was more interested in exercises aimed at developing the right hemisphere and, as a result, creative abilities.

There are a lot of exercises here, but in my opinion, a couple of general directions can be distinguished.

1. Symmetrical movements on the right and left sides, performed simultaneously or sequentially.

They are intended, I think, more to "turn on" the right hemisphere.

Exercise examples:

"Parallel Movements".

While walking on the spot, touch the knee of the left leg with the palm of the left hand, and the knee of the right leg with the palm of the right hand. Arms and legs of the same name touch each other alternately on one side of the body, then on the other. Make 8-12 such steps. During the exercise, it is advisable to look at two vertical parallel lines previously drawn on paper or on the wall: || .

"The Sign of Infinity" ("Reclining Eight", "Lazy Eight").

Press your head with your ear to your left shoulder. Stretch your left hand forward. Without taking your eyes off the tip of your index finger, draw with your hand in the air in front of you an infinity sign (a figure eight lying on its side). Start drawing from the center to the left up. Draw in a row 8 times. Then draw in the same way with your right hand (all movements in mirror image.

Here, the eye muscles are included in the work, and the exercise is intended not only for integrating the right and left hemispheres of the brain, but also for expansion. Therefore, eye movements are basic.

Additional version of the same exercise:

It is carried out, in general, in the same way - the sign of infinity is drawn in the air, but not with the index fingers, but with the thumbs. Keep your head straight. The eyes work, not the neck. Clench your fist and raise your thumb. Look at your thumb while doing the exercises. Do not move your head, follow your thumb only with your eyes. Change hands, then lock them together, thumbs up, draw a “lying eight” with two fingers.

"Double Doodle" (Symmetrical drawing).

Stand or sit in the center of the drawing surface and simultaneously draw the same images to the right and left (with mirror image) with both hands. At first, you can draw "two-handed" drawings on the board or on large sheets of paper on the wall, then proceed to work at the table on smaller sheets.

2. Non-symmetrical movements. At the same time, different actions are performed on the right and left sides of the body.

Here, deeper integration and more coordinated work of the 2 hemispheres of the brain is already required.

Exercise examples:

"Cross Movements".

While walking on the spot, touch the knee of the right leg (that is, the opposite one) with the palm of the left hand, and the knee of the left leg with the palm of the right hand. Thus, opposite hands and feet touch each other alternately, as if crosswise. Make 8-12 such steps. During the exercise, it will also be useful to look at two crossed lines drawn in advance on the wall in the form of an oblique cross: X.

It seems simple, but try to switch from parallel movements to cross ones, it is very easy to go astray at the moment of switching.

An exercise is intended to train the interaction of the left and right parts of the body. It also facilitates the transition to a new type of activity and switching from right-brain activity to left-brain activity and vice versa.

"Finger Gymnastics"

Clench your hands into a fist, simultaneously straighten the index finger on the right hand and the thumb on the left. At the next moment of time, you also simultaneously straighten the thumb of your right hand (while the index finger returns to the fist) and the index finger of the left (you also remove the thumb). If it's easy enough, try picking up the pace.

Options: simultaneous throwing and alternation of the index finger and little finger on different hands, or pairs: index + little finger and middle + ring finger.

In more complex exercises, not just body parts that perform the same action alternate, but completely different movements are performed.

Example:

Place your right hand on your head, left hand on your stomach. The right hand strokes the head in a circular motion, the left taps on the stomach. After that, change actions, tap on the head with the right, stroke the stomach with the left. Then the hands change.

"Asymmetrical Drawing".

Unlike "symmetrical drawing", in this exercise each hand draws something different. For example, with your right hand you draw a circle on the board (sheet of paper), with your left hand you draw a square. Then vice versa. A rather difficult exercise, but later it can be further complicated by choosing other subjects for the image. There is a video on YouTube where a person simultaneously draws two completely different portraits with both hands.

Well, I think, for the first time, the exercises will be enough for you. In general, it seems to me that you can come up with your own coordination exercises. In order to use previously little activated parts of the brain, it is enough just to do the usual things with an unusual hand: brush your teeth, comb your hair, try to write or draw.

By the way, drawing with a “non-working” hand has another good side effect: the tense expectation of a “good” result, the fear that it won’t work out “beautifully” goes away. And in general, the attitude towards their own work becomes more calm.

In addition, you can recall other actions in which both hands participate. For example, playing musical instruments. If you know how, you can play, if not, try to learn. It certainly won't do any harm.)

Of course, if you want to exercise regularly, it is better to use not individual exercises, but a complex. You can find many videos with a warm-up brain gym. Here, for example, is one of them:
