Idea:

The principle of self-education through reading the “right” books is always relevant. This proves the life and creative path of the writer A.M. Gorky. At all times, the book remains the main "tutorial" of a person who wants to be "reasonable" and successful.

M. Gorky.

“Books showed me a different life - a life of great feelings and desires. I saw that the people around me live apart from everything that books write about. What is interesting in their life? I don’t want to live such a life… It’s clear to me, I don’t want to.”

M. Gorky.

“Reading books is the best! If you don’t understand a book, read it seven times, if you don’t understand seven times, read it twelve…”

M. Smury.

“Are you self-taught? In your stories you are an artist, and a truly intelligent one at that. You are smart and feel subtle and graceful, like an artist who has gone through a very good school.

M. Gorky

Eh, wingless man,
You have two legs
Even though you are very big.
The mosquitoes eat you!
And I'm quite small
But I myself eat midges.

Anna Leonidovna Komleva,
chief librarian of the art book department

In 1923, the Glavlit-Prosvet of the People's Commissariat of Education of the RSFSR issued an "Instruction on the revision of the book composition of libraries and the removal of counter-revolutionary and anti-fiction literature." This instruction was signed by N.K. Krupskaya, former chairman of Glavlitprosveta, and deputy head of Glavlit P.I. Lebedev-Polyansky. Attached to the instructions was an "Index on the Withdrawal of Counter-Revolutionary and Anti-Artistic Literature from Libraries Serving the Mass Reader." Somehow the pamphlet got to Gorky, who lived in Freiburg. From a letter to Khodasevich dated November 8, 1923:

<...>Nadezhda Krupskaya and some M. Speransky are forbidden to read: Plato, Kant, Schopenhauer, Vl. Solovyov, Ten, Ruskin, Nitche, L. Tolstoy, Leskov, Yasinsky (!) and many more similar heretics. And it is said: "The department of religion should contain only anti-religious books." All this is allegedly by no means an anecdote, but published in a book called: "Index on the Withdrawal of Anti-Artistic and Counter-Revolutionary Literature from Libraries Serving the Mass Reader." Above the line I have written "as if" to believe it, because I still cannot force myself to believe in this spiritual vampirism and will not believe it until I see the "Index". The very first impression I experienced was that I began to write a statement to Moscow about my withdrawal from Russian citizenship. What else can I do if this atrocity turns out to be true? If only you knew, dear V. F., how desperately difficult and hard it is for me!<...>

<...>I recently wrote you a long letter, full of complaints and curses against my monstrous homeland. I did not send this letter, not wanting to lead you into the chaos of my indignation (...) The letter was caused by one of the tragic vulgarities that are being committed in Russia - I call that tragic vulgarity - what Jan Hus called "sancta simplicitas". The fact is that Lenin's wife, a naturally stupid person, suffering from Graves' disease and, therefore, hardly mentally normal, compiled an index of counter-revolutionary books and ordered them to be removed from libraries. The old woman considers the works of Plato, Descartes, Kant, Schopenhauer, Spencer, Mach, the Gospel, the Talmud, the Koran, the books of Hippolyte Taine, W. James, Gefding, Carlyle, Maeterlinck, Nitschsche, O. Mirbeau, L. Tolstoy and several dozen more to be such books. the same "counter-revolutionary" writings.

Personally for me, a man who owes all his best to books and who loves them almost more than people, for me this is the worst thing that I have experienced in my life, and the most shameful thing that Russia has ever experienced. For several days I lived in the state of a man ready to believe those who say that we are returning to the darkest years of the Middle Ages. I had a desire to renounce Russian citizenship, telling Moscow that I could not be a citizen of a country where crazy women legislate. It would probably have been greeted with laughter and, of course, would not have corrected anything. I wrote harsh letters to the “three nobles”, but to this day I have not received any answers from the nobles.<...>

May 23 at the Loan Department of the National Library of the Chechen Republic. A.A. Aidamirova hosted a literary hour “I owe everything good in me to books”, dedicated to the great master of the word Maxim Gorky.

For the meeting, a book exhibition "Gorky in the Mirror of the Era" was prepared, introducing his rich creative heritage. The exhibition presented the works of the master of the word, as well as studies by famous literary critics, introducing the biography of the writer.

- “I owe everything good in me to books: even in my youth I already understood that art is more generous than people. I love books: each of them seems to me a miracle, and the writer - a magician. I can't talk about books except with the deepest emotion, with joyful enthusiasm. Maybe it's funny, but it's true. It will probably be said that this is the enthusiasm of a savage; let them say - I am incurable, ”writes Maxim Gorky.

The guests were offered to watch a documentary film about Gorky's work. During the literary hour, the famous works of M. Gorky "The Song of the Petrel", as well as the poems "Farewell", "Poems of Liza" ("The Eagle Rises into the Sky") and "Do not scold my muse" were performed.

During the spring holidays, the Ognev-Maidan library hosted a children's weekbook titled "Everything good in me I owe to books."

A real holiday for our children was the opening of the Children's Book Week at Mir. Yulia Kukushkina, Irina Perekhodtseva, Elena Shelina were awarded diplomas for their active participation in the regional poster competition and book trailers "Let's read Gorky!" .

We got acquainted with the books presented at the book exhibition "Placers of Book Treasures".

It's great to make something interesting, useful or beautiful with your own hands! And it's not at all necessary to be a Master for this - there are simple and affordable technologies. Librarian

To my shame, I don’t remember which writer these words belong to, but I completely agree with him, because a book is that priceless treasure that enriches us not materially, but spiritually, gives us the whole world in all its diversity, giving food our mind and heart. The first childhood impressions are certainly associated with fairy tales, with the quiet and gentle voices of mother, grandmother or grandfather, who read these fairy tales to us or simply tell them as a keepsake. And toys - if a child holds a teddy bear in his hands, then Agniya Barto will definitely be remembered (“They dropped the bear on the floor ...”); if a one-eared, but such a beloved bunny, then he immediately mutters quickly: “The hostess left the bunny ...”, and so on ad infinitum. The kid grows up - his “bookish” friends grow up, now Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, Malysh and Carlson, Timur along with the whole team, and Dunno along with all his friends are already coming into their own, but today's children also have their favorites - Harry Potter, characters from Tolkien, etc. Everyone has their own list of names and heroes, but everyone has the same attitude towards the book - sometimes it is very difficult to live without literary creativity.

Every year, all city, district, settlement and rural libraries hold an event that can be called global - "Library Night". The purpose of this event is to introduce everyone, young and old, to literature as much as possible, to remind that the power of the printed word is incomparable with any other sources, despite their “advancement” and the apparent predominance of information innovations in the world.

The Kimry Central Regional Library annually invites all lovers and connoisseurs of the book to the next meeting with the book wealth, presented in the numerous rows of shelves in the library hall. This year, of course, was no exception. Cymrian poets, a master of applied arts Alexandrova Raisa Andreevna and - the main guests - students of the 9th "b" grade of secondary school No. 4, who came with a teacher of Russian language and literature all subject teachers were like her, then, probably, we would not have encountered blatant illiteracy, stunning ignorance, the stupidity of some of our young citizens (but with the rapture of “rummaging” in social networks, where you can encounter such pearls that you fall into a stupor marveling at the “richness and diversity” of the great and mighty Russian language).

How does Library Night begin? Naturally, from the introductory word of the "chief man" of each library. Chernykh Olga Vladimirovna, having warmly welcomed the guests, spoke about the main tasks facing library institutions, about the role of books in the life of every person, about the important place literature occupies in our minds. Television, the Internet - no one can fail to give them their due, but the book still has the palm. Probably, everyone remembers the words of one of the heroes of the cult film “Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears”: “But let's talk about this in 20 years: there will be no cinema, no theater, there will be only television!”. But centuries have passed, an inexorable time is flowing, swords are no longer so sharply knocked down about cinema, and theater, and television, and even the Internet ... And books - here they are, before our eyes, and no matter how fond of gadgets, theater, movies and the book is always there. Just reach out your hand and you will plunge into the world of childhood, the world of fantasy, the world of feelings, the world of the unknown and the unknown.

During the “liblionic” time allotted to us, we managed to feel how tightly the book entered our life, how grateful we are that in the stormy rhythm of our days we have a kind of small outlet when you can pick up your favorite (or a completely new one). , not yet read) book and immerse yourself in the magical world of meeting with the printed word. The famous Cymrian poet Sergey Titov read poetry, Nadezhda Titova (Grunenkova) sang wonderfully with the guitar, Anzhela Zavyalova delighted us with wonderful poetic lines. And then - so unexpectedly and pleasantly! - ninth-graders Alexei Bokov, Yulia Kuzminova, Natalya Ushakova, Liza Vazhnetsova, Snezhana Serova came to us with the reading of poems by the wonderful (and, no doubt, already forgotten by some) poets Tyutchev, Fet, Zabolotsky, Tsvetaeva, Svetlana Leo. Do you think they just murmured poetry to us? You are mistaken - it was an artistic recitation, with the desire inherent in youth to convey to us the beauty and grandeur, the poetic mood and spiritual awe that every poem breathes. Thank you guys for bringing joy to all of us.

Then there was a lot more - and the exchange of books among the guys ("the most-most"), and a gift from the library - works issued for reading, which, as Maria Lebedeva said, would become favorites, and, of course, the obligatory tea drinking. In the meantime, tea was “boiled” and our dear bookworms were enjoying all sorts of sweets, I did not ignore one more interesting notion of the library workers. Modestly perched on one of the shelves, a kind of "poster" entitled "Both in memory and in the book - forever." What is there? It turns out that an interesting trick was prepared here for the 72nd anniversary of the Great Victory - any visitor to the library can remember the name of the book about the war that they have read. I read these lines and ... I was seriously upset (it turned out that I had read all the books that were written down), painfully trying to remember more and more ... And only when I got home, I began to literally pour these names ... But what a good practice for memory!

Together with all readers (I believe that you will support me!) I would like to sincerely thank those people who do everything possible and impossible so that no one remains indifferent to the great mystery of the PRINTED WORD. See you soon!
