During that time, Parker dated Betty Brant, although Liz Allan was also in love with him. At the time, Aunt May and their neighbor Anna Watson advised Peter to date Anna's niece, Mary Jane Watson.

Parker, Mary Jane, and Aunt May have moved into a new apartment in Manhattan. Peter promised Mary that he would give up Spider-Man, but he ended up dressing up as a superhero at night. Their marriage was becoming strained, partly because of Mary Jane's new modeling career and partly because she had learned his secret. Later, Mary Jane, as a result of the explosion of the plane, was believed to have been killed. For a long time, Peter could not believe it, but later accepted this terrible event. Forty-five of the most dangerous criminals were held in this prison by superheroes and SHIELD agents, but forty-two managed to escape. Norman Osborn, an influential businessman, and “part-time” - the Green Goblin, is terribly worried about his beloved son. In addition, the head of Oscorp has serious financial problems: the company's shares fell by 13%, bankruptcy looms ahead.

The experience led to a breakdown and awakened in Norman, who suffered from memory loss, the worst - he remembered his other self, the Green Goblin. And at the same time about who Peter Parker is (the supervillain found out the identity of Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man # 39, August 1966), whom Osborn blames for all the troubles of his family. One caught on to the other and, obsessed with the idea of ​​​​revenge, the Green Goblin decided to hit Spider-Man in the most painful place - to kidnap his girlfriend, Gwen Stacy.

With a bad cold from his Canadian trip, Peter returns home and sees Gwen's purse. And on it - the signature "pumpkin" of the Green Goblin. Spider-Man rushes in search of his beloved. Spider-sense leads him to the Brooklyn Bridge (in the comics, due to an editorial error, it is called the George Washington Bridge). After exchanging "courtesies", Osborn and Parker begin the fight. Due to illness, Peter fights with great difficulty, and he wants to end the fight as quickly as possible - while there is strength. He almost manages to get to Gwen, who is unconscious, but suddenly the supervillain throws the girl off the bridge.

Spider-Man, using his web, manages to catch her legs. It would seem that everything is fine. But when Peter takes Stacey upstairs, he discovers that she is... dead. Parker can't believe what happened, muttering, "I saved you, honey. Don't you understand this?" But ... sudden braking at high speed turned out to be fatal - Gwen Stacy's cervical vertebrae could not stand it.

At the end of The Amazing Spider-Man #121, Peter swears he will get his revenge. In the next issue, he almost kills the Green Goblin in anger, but stops. He does not want to admit defeat, tries to finish off Spider-Man with his glider and as a result dies himself.

The green goblin will still return, but this will happen many years later - in December 1996. Gwen, alas, died forever. Her death had a huge impact on the comics. Never before had a hero been so wrong. Spider-Man rightly blames himself for the death of his girlfriend.

It is believed that The Night Gwen Stacy Died marked the end of the Silver Age of comics. Time will pass and Peter Parker will love again, but he will never forget Gwen Stacy.

After the incident with the Goblin, Peter breaks up with Mary Jane, he later meets his childhood friend, Eddie Brock. During the night, Spider-Man sneaked into the lab to take a sample of the suit his father was designing, but he enveloped the hero's body, creating a black variant of the suit. For a brief moment, Peter enjoyed his new power, but soon the suit began to take control of him, and Peter nearly killed the burglar. The spider got rid of the symbiote, and then returned to the laboratory in order to destroy the remnants of the substance. There he met Eddie, who revealed Peter's secret. But the symbiote bonded with Brock, turning him into Venom. Peter soon meets Eddie at the school. Brock tries to kill Spider-Man, but gets a powerful electric shock and disappears. Peter thinks he's dead. When Aunt May left for Florida, Peter heard that a feature-length movie would be made about Spider-Man. And the main surprise was the return of Doctor Octopus. The battle ended not in favor of Peter, Doctor Octopus kidnapped him and took him to Brazil on a private plane, but already at the airport he again suffered an unfortunate defeat. Spider-Man returned on a passenger plane, however, returning home, he was caught by Gwen, who pointed her father's gun at him. While he was away, she opened a chest containing Spider-Man's outfit, whom she had always hated, due to the death of John Stacy. Still, Peter managed to convince her that the killer was an impostor in a Spider suit. Gwen forgave him, soon she dies at the hands of Carnage. Peter guessed that Dr. Connors did all this, later Peter is confronted by Carnage. Spider-Man lures Carnage onto one of the plant's pipes and throws him off. After that, Peter is about to end his heroism, but puts on his red and blue suit again and gets back on his old path.

Soon Spider-Man meets the Black Cat. She falls in love with him, but after learning that he is still a teenager, she vomits on his suit. After Peter met with Kitty Pryde, one of the X-Men, but Peter realized that he still loves Mary Jane, and they break up. The Ultimate version also has a story The clone saga, in which five clones of Peter Parker were created. A disfigured Cain, a six-armed Tarantula, an armored Scorpion, a clone with false memories of Richard Parker, and a female clone of Jessica Drew. During the events of Ultimatum, Spider-Man selflessly fought for the lives of citizens, getting the Hulk into allies, but after a while he got out of control and attacked Doctor Strange's house, as a result of which the demon Dormammu broke free, and Spider-Man himself disappeared, leaving behind only a torn mask. Afterward, Kitty Pryde and Jessica, Peter's female clone, find the superhero mask and decide that Spider-Man is dead. However, Captain America soon finds Peter under the rubble of a building. After the Ultimatum, Peter's life changed a lot, Johnny Storm (Human Torch) and Bobby Drake (Human Ice) settled in his house, who could not return to their former life after the Ultimatum. Mary Jane Watson broke up with Peter and he dated a Gwen Stacy clone, but due to the Chameleon incident, Gwen decided to end her relationship with Peter. After which he reunited with Mary Jane again.

In 2009, the series was renamed Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man (like many other comics from the same universe). Peter was soon shot by the Punisher while trying to save Captain America. After constructing web bandages for himself, he went to his house, where at that moment a battle took place between the Sinister Six, Johnny Storm and Bobby Drake. After eliminating the Vulture, Peter comes face to face with the six villains and defeats them. Peter then fought Norman Osborn. Spider-Man finishes off the Green Goblin with a truck, but after the truck explodes, Peter is mortally wounded. Subsequently, in the Ultimatum series, Peter died and was replaced by Miles Morales. Peter returned to Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #1 where he asked Miles for his web shooters. Peter refused to tell what happened and fled. Later, Peter arrives at his old home, where Miles fights Osborn and helps him in the fight. It is later revealed that Peter didn't die due to the OZ serum giving a side effect of immortality, which was passed on to Osborn as well.

This version of Spider-Man is playable in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions (in Venom suit), Ultimate Spider-Man.

Spider-Man Noir bears no costume resemblance to the classic Spider-Man, although the costume was nearly identical in early sketches.
