Blog about project management. Action plan: I see the goal, I believe in myself

Did you know that less than 10% of people write down their goals? It is not surprising that the same 10% know how to make good money and improve this skill every year.

There are two types of people: people who control their future, and people who believe that the future happens by itself. I assume that the number of the first is much less. If you do not have specific goals, then you belong to the majority. There is nothing strange in this, because in schools we are not taught this!

There are many myths about how to set goals the right way.

Myth #1. Goals do not need to be written down. Some argue that writing down goals is not worth it. Let them hover somewhere in your head, but not on paper. But if you haven't written your goal down, then it's just a wish. Every poor man dreams of getting rich, but it is not a fact that he will achieve this. Every day, thousands of thoughts form in our head, and how can our consciousness distinguish the true goals?

Myth #2. Goals are not needed at all, as a person's priorities change. Often people believe that their goals are very fluid and can change depending on the mood, the day and the weather outside. But this is wrong, because you yourself do not set a trajectory for yourself, but simply go randomly through life. Yes, life is dynamic, but not a single wind will be favorable if you do not know where you are sailing.

How to correctly set a goal?

To begin with, you must think about the ultimate goal, about your path, destination. For example, what would you like to achieve in 10 years?

When writing a goal, remember the 5 qualities a goal should have: Accuracy, Measurable (the goal should not be ephemeral “I want to be happy”, but be measured in something like “I want to have a baby and have a cat”), Achievable, Practical and Timely (it is necessary to set a time frame).

Example: In 10 years, I will have 10 rental houses and a personal business. I want to send my kids to an expensive private school and not have to work.

Now let's write a goal for the next 5 years (starting from the goal for 10 years).

We do the same for the next 2 and 1 years.

Example: In 2 years I will buy my first real estate, read at least 1 specialized book per month and earn $200,000 per year.

Example: In a year I will actively develop my skills. I'll start saving $1,000 a month, not spending my savings, and working overtime for a raise.

A similar scheme is also suitable for setting goals for companies and enterprises. You need to know where you are now, where you will be later, but it is easier to figure it out in reverse.

Rereading your goals regularly is helpful and necessary. When you're tired, you're having a bad day, or you've forgotten what it's all about.

If we do not set goals, our lives and results do not budge. Remember that you can be flexible with your goals, there can be more than one. Use these notes as a navigator: where to turn, how long until the finish line. If you don't have a final destination, it's like driving without a route and hoping the road will take you to the right place.

If you're a project manager, try this experiment with your team: Gather all of your team members, give each of them a small piece of paper, and ask them to write a statement of the project's goal on it. After that, you can act depending on what management style you adhere to. If you are an evil despotic manager, then it's time to read the text from all the pieces of paper aloud, bursting into cynical laughter after each. If you are a gentle and friendly manager, a sad smile and a quiet sigh will be enough.

Jokes aside, and the results of this simple test may surprise you unpleasantly, especially if there are more than 4-5 people in the team, their vision and understanding of the project goal can differ so much.

If all team members formulated the goal correctly and in the same way, you are an excellent manager, congratulations. If not, let's see what threatens an inconsistent and fuzzy understanding of the project's goal.

One of my favorite project management books compares the Amundsen and Scott expeditions to the South Pole. Each of these expeditions was a project with its own goals, budget, team, deadlines and results.

Amundsen's goal was to reach the South Pole first. All his actions in planning the expedition, selecting equipment and crew, determining the route and the optimal strategy for its passage were subordinated only to this goal. As you can see, the formulation of the goal of Amundsen's project is very simple, as are the criteria for achieving it.

Scott's goals were vague. On the one hand, it was assumed that the expedition would be purely scientific, and reaching the South Pole was just an additional optional bonus of the project. On the other hand, Scott wrote in his diaries that the main target was the South Pole. In addition, everyone, including Scott, understood that his expedition would be compared with the Amundsen expedition and would be judged precisely by the criterion of reaching the pole, and not by scientific discoveries. Scott was torn between goals, his team did not have a clear and agreed vision of the criteria for achieving the result. Because of this, many mistakes were made in planning, serious risks were not taken into account. As a result, Scott's expedition set off a month later than Amundsen's expedition, encountered many problems along the way, and when they reached the pole, they found the Norwegian flag on it.

“The Norwegians were ahead of us - Amundsen was the first at the pole! A monstrous disappointment! All the torment, all the hardships - for what? I think with horror about the way back ... ", -Scott wrote in his diary. H and on the way back, he and his team perished. Amundsen returned as a hero, retained his team, and went down in history as the first man to reach the South Pole.

Similar problems, although, I hope, not with such tragic consequences, may arise in business projects. Scott had to decide from the very beginning whether the goal of the project was to reach the South Pole or not. And when the goal is defined and communicated to each project participant, you can move towards it. Likewise, any manager needs to define a goal, agree it with the project sponsor and the team, fix it in the project charter or other document in accordance with your methodology, print it in A 1 format and hang it on the wall. After that, efforts must be made so that the team remembers this goal, measures its actions against it and understands the criteria for achieving it. Then the team will understand where it is going, what needs to be done for the result.

Often managers neglect to work with goals, but in vain. Understanding the goal and focusing the team on it is a very important condition for the success of the project.

Your action plan for each day is

a daily reminder list of 10 things you can use right now to improve your life

Focus on believing in yourself and the path you are on. When things don't seem to go the way you planned, give yourself some time, because it won't always be like this.

1. Don't worry

Anxiety is a natural human feeling. But do not let the disproportionate capture you entirely in their tenacious paws. Think a little about what is bothering you, but without being tied to the situation. Do not go deep and do not wind yourself up.

2. Be yourself

You are imperfect. And it's time to accept this fact and not fight with yourself. Just be what nature made you to be. In any case, you are unique and a little bit imperfect. Yes! It's worth recognizing this. Because our life as a whole is also imperfect and the world that surrounds us is also imperfect. So everything is OK!

3. Interact

Succeeding alone is not easy. Follow the path of development and interaction with other people, with those who will become your ally. Look for such people and develop.

4. Fuel up

Morning sets the tone for the whole day. And a healthy breakfast is an integral part of it - it balances blood sugar levels and nourishes the body for the whole day.

During the day, you can “feed off” from a good book or a funny find, an interesting quote on the topic, or simply from communicating with a nice person.

5 . Love yourself

Write down all negative thoughts on paper, and then burn it. Relief will come immediately. Yes, you failed, but don't beat yourself up about it. Draw your own conclusions and move on. Without stopping, without looking back. The only way. And defeat will again be replaced by victory.

6. look for other ways

If something doesn't work, try going the other way. Why knock on a door that is closed. You can just climb through the window.

Expand your vision of the situation and there will be a solution to the problem.

Advice - focus on your strengths instead of trying your best to drag on your weaknesses.

7. Look around

By and large, our thoughts and outlook on life are shaped by those around us - these are parents, teachers, classmates. A useful occupation is to look at the world through the eyes of others.

But always be yourself. To be just an observer of someone else's life, but always remain a participant in your own.

8. Look for the good

Your world is what you pay attention to

If you focus on negative things all the time, life will gradually become filled with negativity too. You just need to shift your focus to the positive, look for the pros in everything instead of noting the cons.

Like attracts like. It means to attract positive situations, people and events into your life.

Reality transurfing exists. Everything starts with a thought. Your yesterday's thoughts are your life today. Everything you think about today will become a reality tomorrow.

9. Be patient

Doesn't happen overnight. This is a gradual and painstaking process. Don't stop and don't give up, go forward towards your goal. Luck loves those who listen to themselves, trust themselves, believe in themselves.

10. Trust

Trust is a two-way street. Do you think others are not trustworthy?

Look at yourself: do you always keep your word?

Good day, dear girls! I want to update some information about myself, because. my last photos and blogs were last year.
Let me remind you that a couple of years ago I weighed 75-78kg, and you know, I thought that everything was very excellent! Until one day, my mother began to be interested in how long I was pregnant))) In general, common sense visited my head and I considered that my torso was not very good! Remembering that I am an athlete with CCM and education, remembering past successes and awards, I took myself into my own hands and began to lose weight rapidly! After about 8 months, my weight was already 55kg! I studied at home, on the street, in the school yard (it was the most favorite place), in a small local hall, which the guys put together for themselves. Soon my work was swept up and offered to work in the club, to motivate the girls by example. (If you are interested, I will show and tell about those whom I have helped and am helping now, with Before and After photos). Last year, troubles arose, and they were allowed to practice at full strength only in May of this year. Today I have 3 strength training per week and every other day 1 hour of cardio. The food is not strict, but I keep the weight. From September I will move to a new level of training, I want to return and increase muscle mass. Therefore, the training process itself and nutrition will become much stricter and more regimen! And here is a little of me:

That's what I was.

1. Accept your feelings and decide how to act

We often let our emotions drive our actions. This is especially disturbing if we are talking about unpleasant experiences that arise again and again. By allowing them to control us, we further reinforce our (usually subconscious) beliefs, which cause unpleasant emotions.

By avoiding what causes us anxiety or fear, we further fuel our own beliefs. which are the true cause of these negative emotions.

However, if we simply recognize and accept the unpleasant emotions that arise, allow them to be, remembering that they cannot harm us, do not what they force us to do, but the exact opposite, then we will thereby begin shake the foundation of our subconscious beliefs.

This technique will allow you to gradually get rid of any unproductive patterns of thinking and behavior that interfere with life.

2. Forget about excuses

We often use the format excuses: "I'll do it when ..." in order not to start something scary or difficult. “I will be ready for public speaking when I become more confident”, “I will start losing weight after the New Year” ...

Sometimes these conditions do make sense, but most of the time they just serve as an excuse to delay action. If you catch yourself using these excuses, try to stop using them.

If this causes fear or discomfort, remember the first point: accept your emotions and consciously choose how you act.

3. Make a commitment

When we have a difficult task ahead of us, the success of which depends entirely on our efforts (for example, losing weight or quitting smoking), it is important to make a firm promise to ourselves to fulfill it.

A firm promise is more than an intention. We have many good intentions, and we constantly retreat from them, showing momentary weakness. AT this case it is about a firm, unbreakable promise to oneself. To help overcome internal resistance that prevents decisive action, to begin with limit your promise certain period of time(it can be extended as needed).

To add to your resolve, tell others what a vow you made to yourself - they will be able to support you. Start right now!

4. Think about what you can do for others

Most of the goals that we set for ourselves concern only ourselves, so their success depends heavily on our self-confidence and belief in our capabilities. If you can’t achieve your goal because of disbelief in your own strengths, try changing its setting so that so that the result is useful not only for you, but also for others.

Our shortcomings and limitations do not seem so terrible when it comes to the benefit that can be brought to others. Similar advice can be given to those who are afraid of public speaking: focus on what the audience will benefit from speaking, and not on what these people might think of you.

5. Act like you've already achieved success.

Think of someone you admire who has already achieved a goal similar to yours. Ask yourself: what would he be doing right now if he was in a similar situation? Try to do the same.

Another useful question: What would you do in this situation yourself if you were more positive, optimistic and self-confident? Do so (if you're scared, go back to point one: accept your feelings).
