Recently, such an active form of working with readers as an action has become widespread in libraries.
Action (lat. actio) is an action aimed at achieving a goal. Depending on the goals set, events held in libraries can be roughly classified into several types:
· charitable,
· protest,
· to support reading.
What distinguishes the action from other forms of mass events?
Action is involvement (movement, action), the ability to create an event to achieve a set goal.
Promotion - it should be bright!
A promotion is a large complex event, the duration of which depends on the objectives.
In order to give importance to the action, to get from it not only a public response, but, above all, an effective result, it is necessary to clearly think through the goals, content and organization of the events held within the framework of the action. To do this you need:
1. Understanding what the result should be (clear goal - clear result);
2. A clear scenario (program) with a task for each participant and a culminating event during the action. Each major event of the promotion program must have a separate scenario;
3. Bright format (good name, slogan, unusual paraphernalia, bright action, etc.);
4. Attracting partners on a mutually beneficial basis;
5. Advertising of events, information support for the media;
6. Competitiveness (competitions, tournaments);
7. Use of modern means of communication (Internet, mobile communications, etc.);
8. Encouraging participants in the action and demonstrating its results.

Step-by-step creation of a promotion:

Step #1. Definition of information occasion.
The reason for the action can be any:
· significant (anniversary) calendar date: political, historical, literary, etc. (on the scale of a country, region, city, etc.); leading theme of the year;
· significant event in the country or the world (new bill, elections, military conflict, disaster, etc.);
· a problem that concerns everyone (ecology, drug addiction, AIDS, Nazism, etc.);
· a problem that concerns certain categories of the population: parents, teachers, librarians (reading for children, youth; legal education of youth, family reading, etc.);
· the problem of the institution, in particular the library: lack of funds, books; closure of the library, etc.;
· implementation of a program or project in the library.
Sometimes a news story is on the surface - it is covered in all media, disturbs the minds of the population, and is actively discussed.

Step #2. Determining the target audience.
Identifying the main participants in the action is very important. The development of the entire promotion program depends on this. The more specific the reader groups (participants of the action), the more visible and effective the result of the action can be.
· Youth (students, working youth, high school students);
· children (preschoolers, schoolchildren of various ages, children with deviant behavior, children with disabilities);
· young parents. Many libraries begin working with this audience literally from the first months of mothers’ pregnancy;
· readers conditionally divided into groups according to professional characteristics:
Ø entrepreneurs,
Ø teachers and educators,
Ø employees, etc.;
· mass reader. This is the largest group, but such an audience is most often intended for one-day actions, actions of a general nature.

Step #3. Key points of the promotion.
Determining the key points of the planned action: what is there, what is planned, what resources are available, who the participants are, who the action is intended for, what results are expected, etc. All these points are very important and must be specific.

Step #4. Planning.
It includes:
· determination of the theme of the action;
· determination of the purpose and objectives of the action;
· name, motto;
· determination of the date (place, time) of the event;
· development of regulations for holding the action;
· distribution and assignment of those responsible for the action;
· compiling lists of organizers, participants, invited guests;
· Distributing press releases, attracting media;
· preparation of promotion attributes;
· preparation and replication of printed materials (posters, bookmarks, booklets, etc.);
· determination of the action budget.

Step #5. Writing a script (program) for an action.

The promotion is a large and bright complex event of an event nature. And for it to be such, there must be a key event in the script: a theatrical action, a colorful procession, a concert, a game show, etc.
The scenario (program) of the event depends on its purpose. The duration of the campaign also depends on the goal.
Approximate forms of events of the promotion program:
Ø holidays, presentations, excursions, processions;
Ø meetings with writers, famous people;
Ø discussions, competitions, photo competitions, quizzes;
Ø surveys, questioning, testing;
Ø games, puppet and other theatrical performances;
Ø book exhibitions and viewings, loud readings.

Step #6. Carrying out the action.
The action requires one coordinator (moderator, presenter, organizer - the one who knows the answers to all the questions and leads the entire action). The organizer must know all the options for holding a promotion in unforeseen circumstances:
Ø What to do if the weather is bad?
Ø What to do if there are fewer participants than planned?
Ø What to do if there are not enough funds or prizes?
Ø What to do if the media doesn’t come?

Step #7. Stock analysis.
At the end of the action, a final report is usually prepared, which includes the following important components:
· progress of the event as a whole;
· the most successful moments and shortcomings, as well as difficulties encountered when organizing the event;
· overall effectiveness of the event;
· responses in the media to the campaign;
· Feedback from participants.

The ability to create promotions lies in the ability to combine form and content. This is the main algorithm of the promotion: CONTENT – WHAT?; FORM – HOW?

Promotion "Non-boring twilight in the library"

(approximate schedule)

Recently, such an active form of work with readers as promotion. Sometimes an event is called an action unjustifiably.

It is no coincidence that the consultation is called “The Art of Creating a Promotion.” This means that organizing and carrying out an action is not at all easy. First, let's delve into the semantics of this term.

Action (lat. actio ) – an action aimed at achieving a goal. Depending on the goals set, events held in libraries can be conditionally classified into several types:

· charitable,

· protest,

· in support of reading.

4. Attracting partners on a mutually beneficial basis;

7. Use of modern means of communication (Internet, mobile communications, etc. .;

8. Encouraging participants in the action and demonstrating its results.

Let's take a closer look at the step-by-step creation of a promotion.

Step No. 1. Determination of the information occasion.

The reason for the action can be any:

· significant (anniversary) calendar date: political, historical, literary, etc. (on the scale of a country, region, city, etc.); leading theme of the year;

· significant event in the country or the world (new bill, elections, military conflict, disaster, etc.);

· a problem that concerns everyone (ecology, drug addiction, AIDS, Nazism, etc.);

· a problem that concerns certain categories of the population: parents, teachers, librarians (reading for children, youth; legal education of youth, family reading, etc.);

· the problem of the institution, in particular the library: lack of funds, books; closure of the library, etc.;

· implementation of a program or project in the library.

Sometimes a news story is on the surface - it is covered in all media, disturbs the minds of the population, and is actively discussed.

· readers, conditionally divided into groups according to professional characteristics:

Ø entrepreneurs,

Ø teachers and educators,

Ø municipal employees, etc.;

· mass reader. This is the largest group, but such an audience is most often intended for one-day actions, actions of a general nature.

Step No. 3. Key points of the promotion.

Determining the key points of the planned action: what is there, what is planned, what resources are available, who the participants are, who the action is intended for, what results are expected, etc. All these points are very important and must be specific.

Step No. 4. Making a plan.

It includes:

· determining the theme of the action;

· determining the purpose and objectives of the action;

· name, motto;

· determining the date (place, time) of the event;

· development of regulations on holding the action;

· distribution and assignment of those responsible for the action;

· compiling lists of organizers, participants, invited guests;

· preparation of promotion attributes;

· preparation and replication of printed materials (posters, bookmarks, booklets, etc.);

· determination of the action estimate.

Step No. 5. Writing a script (program) for the action.

It was already said earlier that the action is a large and bright complex event of an event nature. And for it to be such, there must be a key event in the script: a theatrical action, a colorful procession, a concert, a game show, etc.

The scenario (program) of the event depends on its purpose. The duration of the campaign also depends on the goal.

Approximate forms of events of the promotion program:

Ø meetings with writers, famous people;

Ø surveys, surveys, testing;

Ø games, puppet and other theatrical performances;

Ø book exhibitions and viewings, loud readings.

Step No. 6. Carrying out the action.

The action requires one coordinator (moderator, presenter, organizer - the one who knows the answers to all the questions and leads the entire action). The organizer must know all the options for holding a promotion in unforeseen circumstances:

Ø What to do if the weather is bad?

Ø What if there are fewer participants than planned?

Ø What to do if there are not enough funds or prizes?

Ø What if the media doesn’t come?

Step No. 7. Stock analysis.

At the end of the action, a final report is usually prepared, which includes the following important components:

· the course of the event as a whole;

· the most successful moments and shortcomings, as well as difficulties encountered when organizing the event;

· overall effectiveness of the event;

· responses in the media to the action;

· feedback from participants of the action.

This analysis will help draw conclusions, lessons and recommendations that need to be taken into account when planning subsequent activities. And the most important thing is whether it was possible to convey the key idea, the idea of which was put into the action. After all, in essence, the meaning of any action is the opportunity and ability to convey one’s vision of the problem through a different plot, action, using certain forms, mechanisms, and sequences of actions.

The ability to create promotions lies in the ability to combine form and content. This is the main algorithm of the promotion: CONTENT – WHAT?; FORM – HOW?

Using the example of the “Reading Student” campaign, conducted by NGOUNB named after. Lenin, we will consider all stages of its organization and implementation.

Approximate promotion program

· opening of the event in the White Hall of the library;

· surveying students in libraries and universities;

· poll “Vote for a book” using SMS -messages of the mobile communication channel TELE 2;

· discussion “A person reading” on the library website forum;

· survey “Writers – Leaders of the Internet Forum”;

· final event “Library Party”.

1. The event is dedicated to the Year of Youth.

2. Participants of the action are university students.

3. The purpose of the event: to organize an exchange of impressions of what they have read, to get acquainted with each other’s reading worlds and to discover new books.

4. Objectives of the action:

· creating conditions for orientation in the best literature that has stood the test of time and is recognized as such by the readers themselves;

· developing the reader’s skills in choosing the book he needs, forming his own opinion about what he read, improving his discussion skills;

· involving non-reading students in the process of action, reading;

· stimulating the reading activity of librarians themselves.

5. The apt name “The Reading Student” and the motto “Create your future - read!”

6. Duration of the promotion – 2-3 months. This is justified by the objectives of the action.

7. The partners of the action were:

· city and regional libraries;

· educational institutions;

· local media;

· public youth movements;

INNOVATIONS IN THE ACTIVITIES OF LIBRARIES TO PROMOTE BOOKS AND READING
(certification work)

Belogortseva A. G.,
Librarian of Nedvigov Library No. 9
MUK "Library of the Nedvigovsky rural settlement"
2011

Currently, innovation has affected absolutely all types of human activity. Librarianship was no exception.

The main trend in recent years is the loss of the exclusive role of reading in the life of society. This situation is associated with great social risk, since reading is the most important way to master vital information. Without reading, the integration of an individual into the multinational Russian culture, which includes the entire complex of spiritual, material, intellectual traits, worldview systems, and traditions that characterize society, is unthinkable. The economy, politics, national security and competitiveness of the country largely depend on the level of cultural competence of citizens.

In the context of information globalization, a weakening interest in reading is a worldwide trend, and in Russia this problem is becoming more acute. There is not only an alienation of young people from books, a decline in the general book culture, but also a loss of national book traditions. The increase in the number of “non-readers”, loss of interest in books and reading among various age and social categories requires close attention. Today in Russia, reading problems are so serious that both the state and the whole society must take part in solving them.

In order to fundamentally reverse the emerging crisis phenomena, it is necessary to rethink the organization of library science, because the future of libraries is not only the ownership of funds, but also the high-quality provision of information to the reader. And therefore we must constantly strive to be interesting, attractive to users and change a lot in the library in accordance with the times.

The main goal of reading support is to create a positive public opinion about reading.

The National Program for the Support and Development of Reading has generated a surge of creative activity: a number of libraries have pleased us with their new projects and high level of understanding of complex problems. Festivals, competitions, and holidays spill out from libraries into city squares and streets, creating an atmosphere of joy around the book. Increasingly, librarians appear in print, on radio and television, helping people understand that reading is pleasure, the happiness of knowledge and creativity.

Promoting books and reading is the main activity of every library.

Programs to popularize books and reading are implemented with the involvement of all categories of the population in libraries, but special attention is paid to promoting the reading of children, adolescents and young people. A necessary component of modern educational activities of libraries today should be the motivation of children and youth to read useful literature, participate in various competitions, and creative self-realization.

The modern teenager is, first of all, a consumer of computer products, a person focused on the perception of virtual rather than verbal information. Today's schoolchild needs information to be presented brightly, dynamically, and preferably briefly. The main thing for a librarian is to attract attention, evoke an emotional reaction, and a desire to pick up a book.

Instilling a “library habit” in children is a gradual process. It is necessary that when preparing for lessons they cannot avoid the library - and this is the joint work of librarians and teachers. This work should begin with us from a very early age, in kindergarten. And then children will definitely become simply interested in the library, they will be drawn there...

Serious work is needed to create a comfortable environment for intellectual communication. To do this, book collections must be completed primarily with highly artistic literature of various formats: books, periodicals, electronic publications, with the obligatory involvement of the best and proven Internet resources.

The problem of organizing library space comes to the fore today. Today's library is designed to be multifaceted and different: with “noisy” and “quiet” areas, with open spaces and secluded rest areas. Therefore, it is necessary to reconsider the organization of library space, literally every corner of the room, making it as convenient and attractive as possible for users.

The layout and placement of departments and services in the library should ensure comfortable stay and work in it.

An important point in creating an open, comfortable library space and revealing collections for users is a well-thought-out arrangement of furniture, primarily book and exhibition shelves. It is the arrangement and appearance of the shelves that determine the style of the entire library. The methods of arranging racks can be very diverse: even parallel rows, “galleries”, “zigzags”. The arrangement of shelving in a “semicircle” or “semi-oval” is currently particularly attractive.

It is necessary to create recreational areas in libraries for readers with furniture comfortable for relaxing and reading: tables, armchairs, banquettes and sofas. In these areas you can create corners for intellectual relaxation, where you can solve a crossword puzzle, play chess, and get acquainted with the latest issues of magazines and newspapers.

But it’s not only modern design that makes a library space comfortable. The main thing is a well-thought-out organization of funds, understandable even to a less experienced reader.

The availability of collections is considered an expression of trust and respect for readers, therefore even inevitable losses should not serve as a basis for limiting accessibility in the library. The arrangement of the free access fund requires special attention. In an open collection, where readers browse and select books themselves, it is necessary to “adapt” to them.

Thus, the “multi-level” models with work and rest areas created in libraries take into account the needs and interests of readers as much as possible. Each user occupies his own level - a certain zone of “open” space. In this case, zoning will not have “hard” boundaries and each reader, if desired, will be able to freely move from level to level until he finds the most convenient place for himself. He will be happy to visit the library where it is comfortable, cozy and modern, not only thanks to innovative working methods, but also to a modern appearance and internal functional design.

Mass events, exhibitions– the most effective forms of attracting the attention of readers. Spectacular information is well received by the audience, increases the influx of users, encourages many people to turn to literary primary sources, and can improve the image of the library. Priority should be given to presentational, interactive forms of informational, educational and cultural-leisure activities, which will position reading as an integral part of the life of a modern person, necessary for successful educational, professional and creative activities. It is these forms of holding events that will enhance the reading and creative interest of real and potential visitors, will make reading and books attractive and relevant in the eyes of users, especially young people, who often perceive the printed counterpart as an outdated format.

No one doubts anymore that the development of computer technology makes it possible for the library to be competitive in the information services market. The computerization of libraries has made it possible to use new forms of work - video clock, media travel, media kaleidoscopes, electronic presentations, which raised library events to a different quality level.

Today, the country's libraries are actively using new, non-traditional forms of educational activities. Among them:

Festivals– “The whole world is a library!”, “The Reading Land.”

Various competitions– creative works “With a book through life”, virtual advertising “Reading wisely”, competition of reading habits “Reading Leader of the Year”, “Your choice, reader!”, creative competition “Young face of a reading country”, photo competition “Photo with your beloved” book."

Stock– “How to go to the library”, “With a book - into the future”, “Give a book to children”, “Declaration of love to your favorite writer”, “You don’t read yet - then we are coming to you!”, “Enroll in a friend’s library” , “Let's read together!”

Open days– “Library5a is great!..”, “The library is familiar and unfamiliar”, “Our doors and hearts are open for you!”, “What could be more beautiful than our library?!!”.

Cultural and leisure programs– “Sunday in the Library”, “Library Night”, “Library After School”.

Literary brain-rings– “In the circle of favorite books”, “Writers of our childhood”.

Complex forms of book and reading promotion– “Day of Reader's Pleasures”, “Day with the Writer”, “Day of the Literary Gourmet”, “Unboring Classics”, “Reader’s Day”.

Round table- a complex form that has enriched itself with new content: “Youth and books: are there any common points left?”, “Reading youth is the hope of a new Russia”, “To read or not to read: in search of a compromise.”

Popular forms in recent years have become Youth street flash mobs: “Favorite book”, “Minute of reading”, “How to get to the library?”, “Open your book.” The advantage of such actions is their mass, speed and colorfulness. In the future, we plan to organize and hold a flash mob, or, more precisely, a flash book “A Minute to Read,” together with the school library. The gist of it is that during the big break, high school students will put on bright T-shirts with the sewn slogan “In the computer there is news, in the book there is life” and will spread throughout all the corridors of the school. At a certain time, a signal will sound, the student will simultaneously open their favorite books and read them out loud for a minute, showing by their example that reading is fashionable and interesting.

Promotion of books and reading in transport and recreation areas– “Literary gazebo in the park”, “Reading boulevard”, “Book alley”, “Reading courtyard”, Literary readings “On the steps”, “Summer open-air reading room”, “With a book on a bench”, “Book in way!”, “We read without stopping”, “Reading route”, “Literary bus”, etc.

Summer Reading Programs- “A holiday without a book is a summer without the sun.”

Activities aimed at reviving family reading traditions: promotions “Reading as a gift for mom”, “Reading from the cradle”, “First books for our baby” (in maternity hospitals, all newborns are issued a library card, and parents are given sets of literature, booklets, reminders and lists); competition “Dad, Mom, Book, Me: Together – a Book Family”; an hour of reflection for parents “What are our children reading?”; parent hour “There will be harmony in the family if you are happy with the book”, family holiday “Take a book into the family circle”; family reading circle “Read It”; evening meeting with the book “What My Parents Read”; quiz “The theme of family in works of fiction”; complex forms “Family Benefit”, “Family Reading Day”.

Bright, innovative forms of book promotion attract young people. Therefore, library specialists are looking for something new in their work and are creative in organizing events for the younger generation. In all libraries for youth, poetry rings, literary stagecoaches, dossiers, New Book Days, Literary Games Days, Birthday Book Days, book shows, literary salons, poetic swings, literary salons, etc. are held, is developing bookcrossing.

When promoting books and reading, librarians constantly study readers’ opinions about literature, identify their preferences and assessments, and conduct surveys. For example, blitz polls“Ten books that shocked you”, “What role does reading play in your life?”, “They read in my family”; telephone surveys about reading preferences, blitz polls with a video camera" Do you like reading books?"; surveys“Culture, reading, library through the eyes of youth”, “Library of my dreams”, “You and your library”, “Book, reading, library in your life”; monitoring“Who are you, our reader?”

Exhibition activities become more information-rich, laconic, unconventional, with the involvement of artistic and decorative elements, natural materials, drawings, crafts, things and objects that help create the image of a person or an era.

Libraries should take an active part in events conducted by book publishing and bookselling organizations aimed at promoting reading. Such as the projects of the publishing house AST “Read books!” and EKSMO publishing house “Read books - it’s harmful not to read!” They provide us with a wealth of illustrated material, telling us about the benefits of reading. In the first project, modern fashionable writers appeal to people to read books; in the second, readers share their vision of the problem of reading. Who is a “reading person”? How to combine reading and the dynamics of life? What awaits the one who abandoned the books? What does someone who takes the time to read get? All these questions will undoubtedly arouse interest among regular readers and attract potential readers to read. Our library took an active part in these events to popularize books and reading.

When developing any advertising product, it is important to pay attention to developing a slogan. Slogan - advertising slogan or a slogan containing a concise, easily understood, effective formulation of an advertising idea. It gives emotional meaning to the entire advertising campaign. For example: “I have arrived.” Saw. I read it!”, “Go through life with a book!”, “Successful people read a lot!”, “Come in! Look! READ!”, “A person who reads is a successful person!”, “Create your future - read!”, “Reading is great!”, “Strive to be a reader - sign up for the library!”, “Come. Saw. I read it!”, “Read always, read everywhere!” etc.

Promotion of books and reading in the electronic environment.

Today, the library space is also the virtual space of the library. Librarians in the electronic environment create their own communities, interest groups, discuss current topics, and exchange work experience. The presence of a Web site in a library significantly increases its status. After all library website– this is its image in the information space. Library blogs They act as a tool for promoting library news, exchanging experiences in promoting books and reading, informing about upcoming events, new additions to the library collection, attracting new audiences, creating an online club for reading lovers where they can discuss books.

Libraries form and improve the information culture of users and the entire local population, teaching them computer literacy in library resources and the basics of working on the Internet. Many libraries create Information Culture Services and offer free computer courses for various segments of the population, which teach the basics of computer and information literacy. These courses are becoming very popular, especially among older people.

And, of course, we should not forget about the corporate style, which includes the development of a logo, letterheads, business cards, invitations, certificates, diplomas for awarding readers, etc. The set of graphic elements that libraries use on corporate order forms, advertising materials, publishing products allows you to create a holistic picture of the library’s activities so that it is remembered and recognized as a kind and good friend.

Library events are designed to attract the attention of readers and city residents to the activities of libraries. They make it possible to promote intellectual products and services of libraries, improving them in accordance with consumer demand.

Book mood

The open library has become a new, attractive format for our readers and all citizens who value intellectual relaxation. Sitting in soft armchairs, visitors were able to take a break from the busy program of city events, get acquainted with unusual publications and many new books. Adults and children took part in master classes on quilling, scrapbooking and applique. For the youngest readers, a corner was also organized with the opportunity to look through colorful books and join the creative process. At our site, everyone could take advantage of the classic-style photo zone and join the biblioselfie campaign. Many townspeople became interested in the book exchange service; teenagers were keen on board games and crosswords. All visitors to our open library were able to express themselves and immerse themselves in the world of knowledge, intelligence and creativity!

GROWING WITH THE BOOK

Fountain of Wishes

“Fountain of Wishes” - a good mood event (35 people). On City Day, the library held a good mood event “Fountain of Wishes”. With volunteers and the best readers, librarians walked through the streets of the neighborhood, inviting guests and residents to write their desires or wishes for the neighborhood and the city on balloons. And then, on the Vyngapur Central House Square, all library readers released a multi-colored fountain of balloons into the sky, wishing their beloved city and neighborhood that all their written wishes would come true.

WITH A BOOK – TO KNOWLEDGE

This action has become traditional; it is aimed at popularizing reading among first-graders and attracting new readers to the library. Its employees congratulated all the children on the holiday in a solemn atmosphere, and young readers - first-graders who visited the library from an early age - were presented with gifts provided by the entrepreneurs of the microdistrict. This surprise pleased the schoolchildren and stimulated interest in books among those children who had never been to the library.

Good luck

Many of the graduates were active participants in the Rodnik library club, so the staff held a gala event for them, which took place in the school hall, where more than twenty children were awarded special diplomas and postcards. Photos of the 2009 edition of the Rodnik club were a pleasant gift for them. The children experienced a pleasant surprise when they saw a daisy of wishes, petals with their kind messages, filled out by them in elementary school and saved by the head of the club. The graduates added new dreams to them and, tying them to balloons, released them into the sky. Do good

Trying to protect children from possible negative situations, we often talk to them about dangers, bad habits and other undesirable phenomena. We constantly use the words “you can’t”, “don’t do”, “this is bad”. However, it is necessary to pay more attention to what is “good” and set a positive example for children, motivate them to do good deeds, a healthy lifestyle and positive thinking in general. All these thoughts served as the impetus for the “DO GOOD!” campaign. As part of the action, during the day, lessons of mercy were held: “If the stars light up ...” with students from school No. 8 and students of KPiIT; “Good begins with you” with teenagers from school No. 4; “We will warm each other with a kind word” with the children from school No. 6. During the events, issues of tolerance, courage and fortitude were discussed. Poems, songs, proverbs, stories about goodness were sung, and fragments of documentaries, feature films and animated films were shown. In the Hall of Fiction, a stand “Library-Territory of Good” was set up, displaying a chronicle of good deeds compiled on the basis of anonymous surveys of students in grades 5-8, where they answered the question “What good deed have you done in your life?” Many guys left the meetings with small souvenirs in the form of smiling hearts - these are pieces of our care and love! Let kindness reign in the hearts of all adults and children!
