I have just finished school number ... My school is (not) very new and modem and (but) it is very conformable and all the pupils like it very much, it is really home for everyone, who studies there. It has three (four, five, two) floors. The classrooms are light and high. There are classrooms for practically all the subjects - English, History, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, Literature, etc. There is a computer class in our school, where pupils study computing, one of the most important subjects nowadays. There is a school hall in our school, too. Meetings, conferences, concerts and all the celebrations take place there.

Our school has a gymnasium and a sports ground. Many pupils are fond of sport and they have a good opportunity to go in for different sports there.

I am very thankful to my school. When I was only seven years old, I entered it to get some knowledge and I know many things now thanks to my school and my teachers. The teachers in my school are very kind and clever, they give all their knowledge and all their love to the pupils.

There is a good tradition in our school. Every year the school leavers come here to meet their teachers and classmates. Such meetings are very touching and interesting.

I "ll never forget my school, my favorite teachers and my classmates. It is my childhood and it is the happiest period in one" s life, to my mind. My first friends, my first love and my first achievements and disappointments are all connected with my school life.

School traditions is an English language topic that requires knowledge of vocabulary, common phrases, as well as the ability to talk about your school and its traditions. The proposed topic with translation can be a good basis for your story or essay.

School plays an important role in everyone's life. That's why it is essential to choose a good school for a child. The best school is the one that gives a good education, teaches good manners and behavior, has precious traditions and creates a perfect atmosphere for pupils.

I studied in a Jewish school and I must admit I am proud of being a graduate of this school. It is a school with many traditions, most of which are brought from Jewish culture. Although not everyone who studies there should belong to a Jewish family, this school is an amazing place to study for everyone.

When I studied there we were taught Jewish traditions, holidays, history and culture. Needless to say, we loved to celebrate the holidays the most. We used to prepare everything for a holiday ourselves: we used to bring food, make costumes and prepare performances and speeches for younger pupils.

We enjoyed ourselves doing that and it helped us to learn to work together, to help each other and to become closer to each other. However, holidays were not the only way to unite students. The school special organized trips and a class or only those who wanted were sent abroad.

Those trips survived in my memory and I still remember all places we visited and all adventures we had as if they took place yesterday. The trips to other countries gave us the opportunity to learn better about Jewish history and the darkest part of it – the Holocaust.

Thus, our school traditions have made a significant impact on our life forever. This type of education will remain with us and we will share it with our children.

When I studied there, we were taught Jewish traditions, holidays, history and culture. Of course, we loved celebrating the holidays the most. We ourselves prepared everything for the holiday: we brought food, made costumes, prepared performances and speeches for the lower grades.

We enjoyed it, and such events helped us learn how to work together, help each other, become closer to each other. However, the holidays were not the only way to bring the disciples together. The school organized special trips, and the whole class, or just those who wanted to, went abroad.

Those trips remained in my memory, and I still remember all the places we visited and all the events as if they were yesterday. Traveling to other countries gave us the opportunity to learn more about the history of the Jewish people and its darkest part - the Holocaust.

I think I can make a long speech about my school and I should say that in general I have sweet memories of the … years I have spend at one and the same school.

When I am talking about my school I mean a whole complex of things which made up my life there, influenced my views and outlook, formed my character to some degree. I studied at school No. ... in ... It is famous for its high quality of education.

It is common knowledge that success of school education depends mainly on the teachers, their professional skills, their attitude to the subjects they teach and the kind of relationship they can establish with the pupils. Here I'd like to say that my teachers are highly educated people. They are strongly devoted to their work and what is no less important their attitude to the pupils is always friendly and tolerant My favorite subject at school is … We have a very good and enthusiastic teacher who inspired in me an interest of… She is a very fair person and the manner of her teaching is perfect. The pupils are well-disciplined and well-behaved at her lessons

The atmosphere in the school is based on common sense, tolerance, and mutual respect. Poor behavior especially any form of bullying is treated very firmly.

I like the friendly atmosphere at my school. It gives me a real pleasure to go there and to communicate with my coevals. I like my class. I always feel at home there. Everybody is so friendly and easy to get along with. I was on good terms with my classmates and we often spent our free time together.

Our school looks nice and lovely. It's a clean and attractive three-storeyed building. The school building itself is of a typical design with the same layout and the distribution of classrooms, administrative offices, canteens, gyms and libraries as you can see in most other schools. When you enter the school you will see a large entrance hall, cloakrooms, on the left there is a gym, a library, Headmistress’s office and straight is the canteen.

There are two wings in our school. One is given to junior children. During the breaks they rush along the corridor making a lot of noise. On the first floor there is an Assembly Hall where all kind of performances, concerts and meetings are held, teachers' room, a computer class, and a lot of classrooms to study. On the second floor you can find physics and chemistry labs which are equipped with many devices for carrying out experiments and classrooms.

I’d like to say once again that school means a lot to me, and now my heart is full of gratitude to most of my teachers and to many of my friends who make my school life enjoyable.

Do you agree that our school gives a person a good start in life? Why?

I entirely [ɪn'taɪəlɪ] agree with it . School provides us with a certain amount of knowledge in science and humanities. We study a variety of subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computr Science, Biology, the Belarusian and Russian Languages, English. Students attend optional classes in different subjects in order to pass centralized tests with flying colors and enter the best universities. At school we make friends, gain interpresonal and leadership skills, develop moral qualities, learn to get on with different people, overcome difficulties, set priorities, develop our talents and skills.

Let's talk about school traditions

Our school has a lot of exciting traditions.

It has become a tradition to open a new school year with the' First Bell' holiday. In the morning on the first of September the first and eleventh formers parade in front of the school the headmistress, teachers, pupils, parents greet the children and wish them success in studies.

Every first Saturday of February we celebrate the School-leavers Reunion Day. School leavers of different years come to our school and speak about their school years and share their life experience with us. Then the schoolchildren give a concert. It's usually a very interesting and useful event.

Of course such parties as New Year, the 8th of March are celebrated with great amusement.

We also get acquainted with the traditions of English-speaking countries and celebrate such holidays as Christmas ,Valentine's Day , St Patrick's Day and many others.

One of the most important traditions of our school is the Last Bell holiday, when the 11th forms say good-bye to their school, thank their teachers, ask children to love their school, to keep carefully its traditions. Flowers, the words of greeting, love and respect are seen and heard in every corner of the school.

Our school also participates in the international exchange program. Every year a group of Danish schoolchildren and teachers comes to our school. They stay at our students’ and then our students and teachers go to their country, they host us in return. Our guests take part in all school events. We organize concerts, excursions, presentations about our country its culture and traditions. To sum it up I think our school has a lot of traditions that students and teachers should keep up carefully.

The system of education in the Republic of Belarus is based on national traditions and global trends in education area. Today Belarusian educational system includes pre-school education, general secondary school, vocational education, secondary special education, higher education.

There are two official languages within the education system in Belarus, Russian and Belarusian.

Pre-school education is not compulsory in Belarus but around 70% of children attend nursery or kindergarten before they start school. These institutions are for children under six years. Children are taught pre-reading and pre-writing as well as basic mathematics. The children learn to follow a timetable and there are classroom rules which teach respect and consideration for their classmates and the teacher. The public nurseries and kindergartens are free of charge but parents should cover about 60% of the meal’s cost.

Most children in Belarus start school at the age of 6. The school year begins on the first of September for all grades and lasts thirty-four weeks. School education in Belarus consists of elementary(or primary), basic and secondary school. The five-year basic secondary school is compulsory.

During the first four years of school children learn such basic skills as writing, reading, counting, get some information about nature and society, get acquainted with a healthy way of life.

At secondary school students study subjects such as the Belarusian and Russian languages and literatures, a Foreign Language, History of Belarus and the World's History, Man and Society, Mathematics, Information Technologies, Geography, Biology, Physics, Chemistry ,music, fine arts, physical training and labor education. Students can continue their education at secondary schools, gymnasiums, lyceums, uchilishches(vocational schools) technicums,(technical schools) At the end of grade 11 students sit the final examination and if successful receive the certificate of (complete) general secondary education.

2. Do you agree that Belarusian secondary school provides a person with good knowledge? Why?

Yes, I absolutely agree that Belarusian secondary school provides a person with good knowledge. First of all, students at our schools study a variety of subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Information technology, Biology, the Belarusian and Russian languages, a Foreign language. We have highly qualified teachers who are strongly devoted to their job. What is more, we can attend optional classes in different subjects and study these subjects at a profound level.

Today some young people think that having a good education is (not)important. Do you agree with this?

In my opinion it is very important to have a good education nowadays because we live in a fast changing competitive world. It is extremely important to be able to find your place in this world to be able to adapt to constantly changing conditions. Deep knowledge of in different spheres can help you to understand the world around you and yourself, can help you get a well-paid, prestigious job with good working conditions, job promotion. Most professions require qualifications or even a degree. A good education can become the foundation of your career. Good education develops your ability to find information , to think creatively in order to solve problems. What is more good education can help you bring-up your own children and help them with their schoolwork. While studying you will be in touch with intelligent, cultured, original people, which is a very beneficial experience. If you have a good knowledge of English you can communicate with people from all over the world and get a lot of interesting information, read books and watch films in the original. To sum it up it is very important to have a good education.

Ask me what problems I had when I was a student?

one . What was the most difficult subject for you when you studied at school?

2. Did you get on well with your teachers?

3. I would like to know what subjects you didn't like at school.

4. Were there any bullies at your school?

5 Did you have any problems with your classmates or teachers?

Ask me whether I liked school when I was a pupil? What kind of pupil I was at school?

What were your favorite subjects?

Who was your favorite teacher at school?

Did you like Physics?

Were you good at languages?

You got on well with your classmates, didn't you?

What subject did you dislike?

You are talking to a British student. What would you advise himher to do to prepare for an exam well?

First of all, if you want to do well at your exams you should attend all your classes, work hard at the lessons, make notes, because when you put down the key points , you memorize them better , ask your teacher or classmates to help you if you don't understand something. What is more, you should do your homework properly and regularly. It would be wise to make a revision timetable before the examination. If you organize your time properly, you will feel more confident, and will be more likely to get good grades. Whenever you feel under stress, you should take a break and do something relaxing for a while. And finally the night before you sit the exam, go to bed early and get a good night sleep. If you follow this advice, you will pass your exams with flying colours.

Today some young people want to study abroad because they believe that the level of education is higher there, would you do the same?

As for me, I would prefer to study in Belarus because I think that the level of education here is quite high , what is more, the knowledge I can get in our country is more suitable for work in Belarus because laws and paperwork are different in different countries. Moreover, there is a wide choice of higher educational establishments such as universities, higher colleges, institutes, academies in our country. In Belarus I can study full time or by correspondence or at evening classes. To my mind, it is much easier to study in your own language. The most important thing for me is that I want to be close to my family and friends.

Which school club would you advise your classmate to join?

First of all, it depends on his or her talents and interests but I think that joining our volley-ball team could be very beneficial. Playing volleyball is exciting as you will take part in different competitions, moreover it is good for health as you will take more exercise. You can relax and get rid of your everyday stress. What is more, playing volley-ball can teach you to work in a team which is very important.

Like all other schools Our school has its own traditions. Many of them are related to the history of our country and schooling. Traditionally, the beginning of the school year is celebrated on September 1st and the end of the school year in May. On September 1, students gather in the school yard and line up for a solemn line. The school management and teachers congratulate the students and wish them success in the new school year.

For first graders, this is the beginning of school life, and for high school students, the last year of school.

First-graders and graduates give each other flowers, books and albums as a keepsake.

At the end of the school year, graduates divorce the school and make a festive evening with a large concert program. The traditions of the school also include meetings with veterans of the Patriotic War and prominent people of our city. Students congratulate them on all holidays, give them flowers, souvenirs and sweets.

Amateur concerts are held in their honor. Throughout the year, students visit sick veterans and help them around the house. There are also traditional celebrations of the New Year, Women's Day, Teacher's Day and Victory Day.

A good tradition is the exchange of students and teachers between our school and the students of the city of Novosibirsk. We visit our friends in their homeland, and they come to us in Kharkov. During this visit we get to know the city.

W Kolniki examine the outstanding places of the city of Kharkov, get acquainted with our school. At the same time, we learn a lot of new and interesting things about the traditions of Bavarian schoolchildren. School traditions make our school life interesting, meaningful and unforgettable. Therefore, even after graduation, we will often meet and imitate our traditions. We spend the best time of our lives at school.

Here we gain knowledge, learn to think and work independently. At school, our interests and outlook on life are formed. Teachers help us in all this.

Together with them, we overcome all the difficulties in learning, organize leisure activities in an interesting and fun way. The teacher is our mentor and friend. Teacher's Day is a big holiday for us, as it is hard to overestimate the role of a teacher in our life.

On this day, we decorate the school with flowers, publish wall newspapers dedicated to teachers. We give them books and our own poems. After the lessons in the assembly hall there is a festive concert. Its program is varied and interesting. Pupils sing favorite songs of teachers, recite poems.

Who among us has not heard jokes about British scientists? Joking aside, the UK is actually home to some of the most famous educational institutions in the world. The conservatism of the British has preserved centuries-old traditions that lead education in this country is at a very high level.
Today we will talk about schools, about the first stage that determines the further professional life of the child.

Education is compulsory for children from 5 to 16 years of age.
In England, there is a huge variety of types of schools: public and private, full-cycle schools (education from 7 to 18 years old) and schools for certain ages, schools for girls and schools for boys. But one thing is similar in them: not a single teacher will “educate” his students, force them to do their homework, persuade them to correct a bad grade. The main task of the British school is not only teaching, but also the formation of a creative, self-confident, independent person.
The main focus is on the development of children ability to independently acquire knowledge and apply it in practice Therefore, students spend a lot of time in the library and in laboratories. Knowledge testing is carried out mainly in writing. An individual approach is applied to each student, especially in private schools.

The discipline in English schools is quite strict. The director's word is law. Violators are punished, up to and including expulsion from school. Academic success and following a strict routine is the main thing in school life. Schools often have their own school uniform.
A common type of school in England is boarding schools, where children not only study, but also live. Thus, the school for children is another family that gives them a start in professional life.
At the age of 16, boys and girls, having passed several stages of training, receive a general certificate of secondary education ( General Certificate of Secondary Education) or national certificate of professional qualification ( General National Vocational Qualification). Now young people must decide whether they want to continue their education or not.

The next stage is preparation for entering a higher educational institution, which lasts 2 years.
It is worth noting that the position of a person in English society is not determined by his income. Plays a big role origin, education, manners, culture of speech. Therefore, for example, wealthy pop stars who have made their fortune through outrageous and PR are often not considered respectable people.

And now let's get acquainted with some of the bright and interesting traditions of some of the elite schools in the UK. They are considered elite not because the children of well-known and wealthy citizens study there, but primarily because the level of knowledge of the child must be very high. For example, to enter Eton, you need to take several foreign languages - Latin, French and English.

Eton

Private British school for boys and gentlemen's forge. Sports games are central to the Eton curriculum for a reason. It is in games that children develop in themselves those qualities that will be useful to them not only in their studies, but also in later life. Through sports competitions boys learn interact in a team and make decisions, win and admit defeat. The boys are playing football, rugby, hockey, cricket, squash etc. And there are also games in the school that arose and exist only within the walls of this institution.

The Wall Game(wall - wall, game - game) is held near a slightly curved wall. The object of the game is to drive the ball to the opposite end of the wall and score a goal without touching the ball with the hands or touching the ground with any part of the body other than the hands and feet.

Here comes Prince Harry! He also participated in this event when he studied at Eton.

The Field Game(field - field, game - game) - a game similar to football, but with more complex rules. The ball in it is slightly smaller than a soccer ball. There are also some features borrowed from rugby. And there is no goalkeeper in the game, so there can be many more goals.

Westminster School

Photo from www.tr-tr.facebook.com

The school is located in the heart of London. Until the age of 16, only boys study at the school; from the age of 16, girls can also start studying. Sports, tourism, study trips, expeditions, a rich creative life - all this awaits a child who first entered the threshold of this educational institution.

As in any elite school, it has its own traditions.

Solemn registration
The school welcomes new students in a special way. During the first week of training, beginners write their name on a large book in Westminster Chapel. After that, the headmaster, Bill Philip, solemnly shakes hands with the students, because each of them has already entered his name in the history of this amazing educational institution.

"Family dinner
No matter how strange it may sound to us, but the teachers and students of the school consider themselves to be one academic family. And one of the highlights of the educational and social life in Westminster are the so-called "family dinners" with teachers. This is a great opportunity for students to get to know each other better, but also to talk with teachers, make friends and establish interaction. Such dinners are very fun: with games, various delicacies, live communication.

College of Winchester

Let's get acquainted with the most remarkable traditions of the school.

Illuminations
On the last day of the fall term, a wonderful act is performed at the school, which is called Illumina. It is dedicated to Christmas. At 16.45, with a bell, the students rush to the street. And dozens of candles are already burning there. Parents, students, teachers gather in the school yard. Together they sing, treat themselves to pies, drink hot chocolate.

"Morning Hills"

This ceremony (Eng. Morning Hills) takes place twice a year in summer and autumn. The entire school climbs St. Catherine's Hill early in the morning on a certain day. At the top of the hill there is a common prayer. A very interesting example of a kind of team building, the opportunity to feel the spirit of unity together with everyone, but not within the walls of the school, but in nature, honoring the memory of their ancestors and their achievements.

In fairness, it should be said that in almost every English school you will find your own traditions and characteristics. The British, apparently, are characterized by a special longing for the past, which they embody in the usual rituals. And, of course, honoring the traditions for the British is a matter of their pride, and from an early age they instill these good habits in their children.
