Main building of the National Technical University "Kiev Polytechnic Institute"

The admissions campaign starts on July 11 - this means that applicants must submit applications to the selected universities. Applications are formed according to the principle of priority, when an application to the most desired university is registered under number 1, and then the lower the number, the lower the priority of the university.

The Ministry of Education asks you to be as careful as possible when determining priority; it will be impossible to change it after the start of the admission campaign. In your choice, you can rely on university ratings, your own professional inclinations, and level of training. To determine the industry that best suits your psychotype, you can take a career orientation test from the world leader in testing, HILL INTERNATIONAL. At the same time, it should be understood that competition for prestigious universities will be fierce, so a high score on external independent assessment (Ukrainian ZNO) is necessary. The format of online preparation courses for the external examination on the EDUGET platform allows you to systematize your knowledge and repeat complex topics before the exam, where you can also take the external examination tests of previous years for free.

Current university rankings will help you finally decide on the priority of educational institutions. EuroOsvita published the ranking of universities “Top 200 Ukraine” for 2015/2016. Traditionally, the leaders of Ukrainian higher education - Taras Shevchenko National Technical University and the National Technical University KPI - compete for championship. This year, techies are in first place.

KPI came out ahead in terms of the criterion “Innovative activity of universities”. According to the head of the Top 200 Ukraine project, Olesya Linovitskaya, over the past year, more than 40 startups have been created on the basis of KPI, 29 of them received investments from private venture funds and technology companies in the amount of UAH 573 million.

KNU named after Taras Shevchenko receives the most impressive budget funding for science - about 85 million UAH. It is ahead of Ukrainian universities in the QS World University Rankings and in the Scopus database of scientific publications.

Below are Kharkov universities - in third place is the National University named after. V. N. Karazin, on the fourth National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute". Fifth place goes to the National University "Lviv Polytechnic".

The “Top 200 Ukraine” project is being published for the tenth time this year. This is an academic ranking accredited by the International Ranking Expert Group (IREG), its peculiarity is that it compares different types of universities with each other using a universal system of criteria. In essence, this is an attempt to introduce into Ukrainian realities the approaches of such rating leaders as Academic Ranking of World Universities (the so-called Shanghai rating), The Times Higher Education World University Rankings and QS World University Rankings.

The activities of the university are assessed using an integrated index - Iz. This index includes three components:

Inp - quality index of scientific and pedagogical potential;

Io - education quality index;

Imp - index of international recognition.

Taking into account the recommendations of the last Lisbon IREG Forum and modern educational trends, this year the criterion “Innovative activity of universities” was introduced. It was measured by the volume of investments made by private businesses in university startups - not only the latest technical developments, but also projects in various fields of human activity that were based on the latest ideas and were in demand on the market. The result obtained is included in the Inp - the quality index of scientific and pedagogical potential.

Where to go to study? Choosing the most rated university in Ukraine

There is very little left before the start of the admission campaign to Ukrainian universities. The main session of the External Examination has already ended and the test results in almost all subjects have become known. For those who have not yet decided where to enroll, we analyzed four ratings: two foreign and two Ukrainian.

Round University Ranking

This is an international ranking of 750 universities, reflecting their level of 20 unique indicators and 4 key areas of activity: teaching, research, international diversity, financial sustainability. All initial data for the rating are provided by the international company Thomson Reuters. The rating has been published since 2013 by the Rating Agency based in Moscow.

7 Ukrainian universities were included in the ranking. Experts consider KNU to be the best Ukrainian university. Shevchenko (560th place), Kharkov University named after Karazin (593rd place). The remaining universities were arranged in this order.

Kyiv Polytechnic – 636th place;

Kiev Economic University - 645th place;

Ostroh Academy – 650th place;

This ranking has been published annually since 2002. The developers take into account the ratio of the number of teachers and students, the relative number of foreign teachers and students, reputation in the academic environment, citations of scientific publications of university representatives, and the attitude of employers towards graduates.

Kyiv National University named after. Taras Shevchenko confirmed his place in the group 421-430. It is also in the 301-400 group for the level of mathematics teaching and in 39th place in the ranking of universities in developing countries in Europe and Central Asia (EECA).

How much does it cost to study?

Every graduate expects that he will be able to enroll on a budget, but, of course, there are not enough places for everyone. Therefore, it will also be useful to familiarize yourself with the prices.

The most expensive majors today are international economics and law. At KNU, a year of study on them costs 44 thousand UAH. At Kharkov University. Karazin prices for these specialties are much more affordable - 19,760 UAH.

At the Kiev University of Economics, international economic relations will cost 10 thousand UAH per semester. At Lviv University. Franco - from 17,208 to 18 thousand UAH per year - depending on the faculty. You can study law here for 20 thousand.

“Technicians” are now luckier, at least their specialties are cheaper. For comparison, one of the most expensive - Software Engineering - in KPI costs 17,700 UAH.

At the Lviv Polytechnic, each course in this specialty costs differently: from 10 to 14 thousand. In general, over 4 years you will have to pay 49 thousand 200 UAH.

But at the Kharkov Polytechnic University this specialty costs only 7,800 UAH per year.
