The university trains bachelors in international affairs in twelve areas of higher professional education, and the ability to study foreign languages ​​is perhaps the main condition for a successful graduation from the institute and a successful career in the future.

About 11,000 applications have been submitted to MGIMO this year. The average competition for budget places is about 18 people per place, for contracted places - 8.5 people. For applicants entering programs without an additional test, the acceptance of documents will last until July 25.

On August 8, the MGIMO Admissions Committee issued orders for the enrollment of the second wave of applicants from September 1.

As a result of the entire admission campaign of this year, 1,380 people were enrolled in the MGIMO undergraduate program, including 159 in the Odintsovo branch. Of the total number of enrolled: boys - 583, girls - 797.

The competition for budget places averaged 32 people per place at the University. For places with tuition fees - 13. Most of the applicants participated in the competition for 3 areas of bachelor's training, including relevant programs at all faculties.

Of the total number of winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren, 179 entered MGIMO, 155 students were enrolled, including 7 with two or more diplomas. Of these: in history - 40 (36% of the total in the country), in law - 26, in ecology and geography - 20, in literature - 17, in social science - 17, in Russian and foreign languages ​​- 35, etc. The highest a score (100 points) on the Unified State Examination scale as a benefit was received by 70 applicants from among the diploma winners of university Olympiads for schoolchildren of the I or II level in the profile "humanitarian and social sciences" (history and social studies) and in geography. Of these, 43 people were enrolled.

100-point results in various subjects of entrance examinations were presented by 456 applicants, which is more than 10% of the total number of 100-point students of the USE in 2017 in these subjects. 228 applicants with 100 points in one or more subjects were enrolled.

A feature of the admission was the accrual of additional points to applicants for individual achievements: the presence of a certificate with honors (gold medal), victory in the championship of Russia, Europe in Olympic sports, the title of master of sports, the gold badge of distinction of the TRP, etc. A total of 627 medalists were enrolled, 182 the owner of gold marks of distinction of the TRP and 16 masters of sports - champions and prize-winners of sports competitions. Additional points for having a second (third) diploma for winning intellectual competitions were received by 63 enrolled applicants.

There is a stable interest of foreign applicants in the educational program of the bachelor's degree in English in the direction of "International Relations" (School of Government and International Affairs). In 2017, 54 candidates from Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Brazil, Hungary, Greece, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Morocco, the Republic of Korea, Romania, Slovenia, the USA, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, France, and Switzerland were recommended for enrollment. 23 Russian citizens enrolled in the program submitted certificates of secondary education obtained in foreign countries.

Admission to the MGIMO master's program was held for 67 programs in 14 areas of master's training, incl. for 22 double master's degree programs implemented jointly with leading universities in Europe, the USA and Asia. 4 programs are implemented in partnership with large Russian companies: Management in the field of military-technical cooperation and high technologies (GK Rostec), Economic strategies of international oil and gas companies (PJSC NK Rosneft), International banking ” (in cooperation with Gazprombank (Joint Stock Company)) and “International Management in the Field of Transportation of Oil and Oil Products” (in cooperation with PJSC Transneft).

The number of applicants for master's programs was 2,264 (6% more than last year), 40% of applicants are bachelor's degree graduates from MGIMO, 60% are graduates of other universities. The average competition for places financed by federal budget appropriations exceeded 7 people per place. The leaders of the competition for the budget are traditionally master's programs in the field of study "International Relations", where the competition reached 12 people per place. The average competition for places with tuition fees was 3 people per place.

According to the results of entrance examinations in a foreign language and specialty, 1175 people were enrolled. 109 people entered the Odintsovo branch.

In accordance with the regulations on student dormitories, the rules for admission to MGIMO (U) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, students from other cities (graduate students, interns, etc.) studying at MGIMO on a full-time basis are provided with a hostel, subject to availability.

When establishing the priority of providing a place in a hostel, the financial situation of the student's family, as well as other benefits, is taken into account. Dormitory №2 "Vernadsky"
It is located at the address: Moscow, Prospekt Vernadskogo, 76. It is part of the complex of buildings of the University and is a modern 13-storey panel building. The hostel has double rooms with all conveniences (bathroom, toilet). Kitchens are located separately on each floor. There is a cafe on the 6th floor. In the lobby of the 1st floor there are long-distance and international telephone boxes.

Dormitory №3 "Teply Stan"
It is located at the address: Moscow, Generala Tyuleneva street, 13. It is a 12-storey apartment-type panel building. The hostel has places in 2-room apartments (2-bed and 3-bed rooms with a kitchen, toilet and bathroom) and 3-room apartments (3, 2 and 1-bed rooms).

- orphans and children left without parental care;

MGIMO or the Moscow State Institute of International Relations is the oldest institution of higher education that trains international specialists. It is not easy to get on the budget at MGIMO. Official enrollment takes place according to the results of exams, namely, the Unified State Examination and the additional entrance test of the DWI. As a rule, at MGIMO, for most faculties, you need to pass the DWI in a foreign language. Next, the applicants will have a competition, in which only those who scored at least 60 points according to the results of the DWI are allowed to participate. As for the Unified State Examination, it includes three subjects: Russian, foreign and profile. As you can see, first of all, to enter MGIMO on a budget, you need to know a foreign language well, the study of which is given special attention here. Additional opportunities to enter MGIMO on a budget include victory in the All-Russian Olympiads or in the Three Steps to a Dream competition. And, of course, everyone who wants to enter here knows about such a television program as "Clever Men and Clever Girls". When entering in the usual way, priority is given to applicants who have passed the entrance exams with "excellent" marks and have an "excellent" certificate.

How to enter MGIMO on a budget - preferential categories

• orphans;
• children without parental care;
• disabled children;
• disabled people of groups 1 and 2 (if they can be trained for health reasons);
• boys and girls under 20 who have only one disabled parent of group 1 (the average family income is also taken into account - below the subsistence level);
• those who serve (or have served) in the Russian Armed Forces (under contract).

If you do not fall into any of these categories, but want to enter MGIMO on a budget, you can only rely on your own knowledge and the results of entrance exams.

Passing score at MGIMO in 2016

Please note that in 2016 the Ministry of Education raised the threshold for admission to MGIMO in the following subjects:

As for other items, there have been no changes so far. And the threshold for a passing score at MGIMO is:

However, there are also exceptions. To enter the Faculty of Information Technologies in International Business, you need to score at least 80 points in the Unified State Examination. And, as already mentioned, regardless of the faculty, you need to score at least 60 points in a foreign language exam. For winners and prize-winners of school Olympiads in specialized subjects, the USE passing score is not lower than 75.

Don't be afraid to dream. If you were an excellent student at school and have the appropriate ambitions, do not listen to gossip, but believe in your own strength. Passing scores at MGIMO, although quite high, do not necessarily require a hundred. Confidence in the possibility of achieving the goal is already half the success.

Of course, it is not enough just to want to enter MGIMO. This will require some effort. First of all, focus on how to pass the exam as best as possible.

Try to decide in advance on the faculty to which you would like to enter and on what specialized subjects you will have to take exams. It is better to do this two or three years before admission, so that you have enough time to prepare. Do not limit yourself only to the school curriculum, this will not be enough to enter MGIMO.

But what is absolutely certain is that you will need excellent knowledge of a foreign language. And if you study in a regular, and not in a language school, start pulling it up yourself. Take advantage of the opportunities that the Internet gives you. And the best thing is to hire a good tutor. Precisely - good, because tutors are also different.

Use every opportunity to participate in olympiads and competitions. Even in the event that you do not become a winner, this will temper your character and give additional advantages for admission.

And most importantly, don't give up. Even if you fail to enter MGIMO on a budget the first time, try again next year. In addition to the exam, each applicant is waiting for additional ones held at MGIMO. They are usually held on the tenth of July, i.е. closer to the middle of the period of the selection committee. For most areas, this is an additional exam in a foreign language, during which it is checked how well the applicant has a vocabulary, how good his knowledge of grammar and text processing skills are. Its structure is somewhat different from the USE and requires other skills and knowledge from applicants.

Traditionally, the foreign language chosen is the same as for the USE, however, applicants entering, for example, departments specializing in oriental languages, can take Arabic, Chinese, Korean or Turkish to choose from.

Applicants of the direction "International Journalism" must be ready to pass an additional test in two stages. The first is an essay on a socio-political topic, the second is an oral presentation of your portfolio. The larger the portfolio, the better, however, it should be remembered that all newspaper clippings, articles in magazines and on the pages of online publications must, firstly, be properly designed, and secondly, certified by a round seal and the signature of the editor-in-chief.

Knowing which exams you need to take, the applicant can begin to figure out the required passing score at MGIMO. As in all universities, every year it only increases. According to statistics for 2016, the average score of "state employees" is 94, contract employees - 86. The number of students in one or more disciplines exceeded three hundred.

In 2018, the USE scores required to participate in the competition at MGIMO are:

• in Russian - 70 points (in the areas of "Management", "Ecology and nature management", "Trade business", "Public administration" - 60 points);

DWI in foreign languages ​​is also evaluated on a 100-point scale. So, for example, an English language exam includes five tasks, two of which are rated at ten points (vocabulary and reading comprehension), two at twenty (knowledge of prepositions and the ability to translate from Russian into English), and one at forty ( possession of verb forms). The minimum score for DWI (foreign language) is 60.

The creative competition in the direction of "Journalism" is evaluated on a 100-point scale. Fifty points are spent on assessing the style of work, its content and relevance to the topic covered, another twenty - on assessing literacy (punctuation, spelling, speech errors). Another thirty points fall on the oral part - during the answer, the student's ability to understand and answer questions, argue his point of view, and the culture of his speech is assessed.

Applicants who score less than sixty points for are eliminated from participation in the competition (both for budget places and for contractual ones).
