The university began its history on November 12, 1930 - the day the oldest military educational institution was founded - the 9th military school for pilots and pilot-observers. At all stages of the development of the state, these military educational institutions played an important role in protecting the Motherland and increasing its defense capability. Geographically, the university is located in two campuses (77/79 Sumska St., 228 Klochkovskaya St.). The total area of educational and laboratory premises is more than 100 thousand square meters. Training sessions are held in classrooms equipped with computers, simulators and existing weapons. In the laboratories of the departments, modern laboratory facilities are used, which allow for the study of various phenomena and processes studied in academic disciplines. There are 18 computer classes at the service of cadets and students, of which 3 classes provide access to the World Wide Web. The possibilities of using personal computers in the classroom and during self-training are constantly expanding. Over the past two years alone, more than 200 proprietary software developments have been introduced into the educational process. And although it was already the right time for me to really learn horse riding, the only opportunity to do this was to ask to sometimes go for a walk with Blizzard, who for some reason also loved me very much and always went riding with me with pleasure. But recently Blizzard was very sad and did not leave her yard. And, to my great regret, for more than three months I was not allowed to go for walks with her. One of the activities of the Institute is the training of aviation specialists, including pilots.
Graduates of the institute receive diplomas - pilot - bachelor (aircraft operation) with obtaining a commercial aviation pilot's license (CPL) of an airplane or helicopter.
In the process of studying, the student receives a full course of theoretical training in the CPL + IR program for aircraft and helicopters and additional training courses ME - Multi-engine, MPL- Multi-crew Pilot License.
Training of students is carried out according to the European system of training aviation specialists. Theoretical training is carried out in equipped classrooms, laboratories and simulators. The practical part of the training (flights) is carried out on certified aircraft, helicopters and simulators. The airfield has all the necessary infrastructure for flights and recreation. Training is conducted in accordance with the PART - FCL rules, as well as ICAO standards.
The activities of the Institute of Civil Aviation of Kharkiv National Air Force University named after Ivan Kozhedub are carried out in accordance with European standards.
Training of foreign students is carried out at the educational levels of the bachelor and master's degree in English, Russian and Ukrainian. Particular attention should be paid to the organization of cultural and sports leisure of students at the university. In KhNUVS them. I. During 2016, the university was visited by representatives of such foreign states as the United States of America, the Republic of Lithuania, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of Poland, the Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Federal Republic of Ethiopia, the Croatian Republic, the People's Republic of China and the Italian Republic. Kharkiv Air Force University named after Ivan Kozhedub (HUVS)- the largest higher military educational institution that trains personnel for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Founded in 1930 .
History of University
The foundation of the university is associated with the reform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and higher military education. Kharkiv Air Force University was created on the basis of Kharkiv Military University and Kharkiv Air Force Institute in accordance with the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated September 10, 2003 No. 1430. The university has become the successor of training personnel for aviation 2 military academies and 9 higher military schools:
- Kharkiv Higher Military Aviation School for Pilots. S. I. Gritsevets (1930-1993);
- Kharkiv Higher Military Aviation School of Radioelectronics named after V.I. Lenin Komsomol (1937-1993);
- Military Engineering Radio Engineering Academy of Air Defense. L. A. Govorova (1941-1993);
- Kharkiv Higher Military Command Engineering School. N. I. Krylova (1941-1993);
- Kharkov Higher Military Aviation Engineering School (1941-1993);
- Poltava Higher Anti-Aircraft Missile Command School. General of the Army (1941-1995);
- Chernihiv Higher Military Aviation School for Pilots. Lenin Komsomol (1941-1995);
- Military Academy of Air Defense of the Ground Forces. A. M. Vasilevsky (1947-1994);

The university began its history on November 12, 1930 - the day the oldest military educational institution was founded - the 9th military school for pilots and pilot-observers. At all stages of the development of the state, these military educational institutions played an important role in protecting the Motherland and increasing its defense capability.
