Sunlight treatment, or heliotherapy. sun healing method

From lectures on Ayurveda by Oleg Torsunov

For health, a balanced supply of solar energy to our body is necessary. Its deficiency leads to a decrease in protective forces, diseases of the adrenal glands, joints, and lymphatic system. Excessive intake of sunlight weakens volitional qualities, leads to allergic diseases, greatly exacerbates all chronic processes. Blood vessels, hormonal functions may suffer. How to balance hematopoiesis and the flow of sunlight into the body? How to get solar heat in winter? How not to overheat in extreme heat? Only the right attitude of thought can solve these problems. With emotional depression, low mood, resentment, laziness in winter, an extra release of energy occurs and hypothermia sets in. In summer, with such shortcomings, on the contrary, energy accumulates, having no way out, and even overheating or sunstroke can occur. Fussiness directs sunlight to exacerbate inflammation. Greed, rudeness, a tendency to deceive overload the central nervous system, the vessels of the brain with heat. For effective sun exposure, follow these rules:

1. With a lack of heat in the body, constant freezing, stop being in a fuss, imbued with a kind attitude towards others. Kindness is a calm joy towards everything. A kind attitude towards people, like a battery, accumulates warmth inside.

2. Treat yourself in the sun in winter. Its light at this time of the year is especially soft and effective. Do not think that if it does not warm, then it does not heal. In winter, sunlight does not linger on the skin, but immediately penetrates into our cells, nourishing them with the power of health. To do this, it is enough to look at the disk of the sun, and during a long workout, just remember it and solar energy will rush into your body from the surrounding space.

3. In the summer, do not go in a state of laziness, pessimism, indifference to work. This condition does not allow sunlight to be converted into internal energy of the body. Excess heat causes vascular disorders, weakness, indifference to everything. Excess sleep, fatty foods, water leads to sun overload.

As well as:
- in a state of weakness from overheating, try very gently to wish people happiness and joy, do not focus on your condition;
- in extreme heat, enjoy the sunlight, while it restores the balance of heat in the body;
- in a state of optimistic love for people, light is transformed into internal energy;
- move in the sun smoothly, easily, but not slowly;
- look as far as possible in front of you, thoughts should be wide;
- look for coolness in everything, mentally imagine that when you inhale through your nose, the cold enters the crown of the head, when you exhale through your hands, give it to people, the earth, trees; when walking, watch how the air touches the forehead, removing excess heat.
solar session
The solar session can be done every day at sunrise and sunset in the summer and in bright light in the winter. Clothing is light, the mood is like at a wellness session. Stand straight facing the sun, open your palms, while inhaling, gently direct the light of the sun inward; as you exhale through the palms, lovingly give it to everything that surrounds you. Session time: 20-30 minutes. Feelings of overflow in the head, tingling in the palms, shins notify you of the end of the session. It is effective to combine sun treatment with tree treatment (before a sun session), static exercises and a shower (after a session). Eating is possible no later than two hours before sun treatment. Spicy and fried foods will make sun exposure unhealthy.

LIGHT AND HEAT OF THE SUN

And we will tell a detailed story about this, because such information is not so easy to find, because they are not needed by the "human machine", as Rudolf Steiner once put it. So, let's turn our eyes to the sun. Have you ever wondered why children are so afraid of the dark? And why does it feel bad and sad in the soul in cloudy weather, but when the sun shines, you want to sing and dance, and all things go easily and joyfully? - over the horizon?

Did you know that “there are numerous scientific studies demonstrating that sunlight plays a key role in the prevention and improvement of many serious destructive and infectious diseases, including breast, colon, ovarian and prostate cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease , multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis, psoriasis, rickets and tuberculosis (from Dr. Richard Hobday's book "Healing by the Sun")? Do you know what kind of people the Essenes from the shores of the Dead Sea were and what kind of procedure the ancient Greeks had called “heliotherapy”? And why NASA (US National Aerospace Agency) has been studying the Indian resident Hira Ratan Manek for so long and published a number of reports , after which the term "XRM phenomenon" appeared in the world scientific medical literature? I could ask you many more questions to which the vast majority do not know the answer. But we will stop there and move on to considering the XRM phenomenon from the practical side, which is necessary for us so that we can finally start to get rid of many unnecessary “hooks”.

Hira Ratan Manek is an ordinary Indian, 68 years old, worked as a mechanical engineer until his retirement. As a result of a long search that lasted all his life, he came to the conclusion that in order to receive the energy of the Sun directly into the body, you just need to look at it. He experimented with himself for three years and proposed a method based on his experience and mistakes. The method is simple and can be performed by anyone in any part of the world at any time of the year. Currently, thousands of people use this method and achieve certain results. In Brazil, Australia, Germany, more than 3 thousand people are supported by the energy of light. In fact, this is the revival of a science that was practiced in very ancient times. Originally a spiritual practice, it is now becoming a scientific practice that anyone can follow in the manner described below. This practice is becoming popular day by day, and it is this practice that is known as the "XPM phenomenon". But before giving you a description of this practice, a few words from Manek himself. He claims that the brain is stronger than the most advanced supercomputer. But infinite power The brain that everyone is born with is programmed into the part of the brain that is actually dormant and unused.Even medical science agrees that we use 5-7% of the brain, while Albert Einstein only used about 32% of his brain.

If we activate the human brain and awaken these infinite innate forces in us, we can rise to higher levels of our development. We can achieve any result we want, but only if we can effectively activate the brain with powerful forces from outside. Solar energy is the source of such power for the brain that can only enter and remain in the human body or brain through one organ called the eye. The eyes are the windows of the soul. Recent studies have found that the eyes have many other functions besides vision. The eye is a perfect instrument that receives all the colors of the rainbow from sunlight. Nowadays, teachings and ideas such as "don't look at the sun you will hurt your eyes", "never walk in the sun naked you will get cancer" are caused by hysteria and paranoia, according to HRM. The more you move away from nature, the more causes for disease appear, and you automatically financially support global pharmaceutical corporations.

SUN HEALING METHOD

Safety
Healing through the process of watching the sun is a one-time practice of your life and usually lasts for a whole period of 9 months. It can be divided into 3 phases. 0-3, 3-6 and 6-9 months. For the rest of your life, you can just occasionally walk barefoot. This practice consists of observing the sunrise and sunset once a day only during the safe hour. Safe are those that go after sunrise 1 hour and before sunset 1 hour. It is scientifically proven that during this time the rays are free from infrared and ultraviolet radiation, which is harmful to the eyes.

Both times are good for practice - it depends on individual convenience. When you look at the sun, the body is in the process of making vitamins A and D during this safe time. Vitamin A is essential for eye health, it is the only vitamin that the eye needs. With prolonged practice, glasses and everything associated with them will become unnecessary, because you will have better vision without glasses. For someone who will not be able to initially look at the sun for a safe period, sunbathing is an alternative, effective method for getting solar energy and moving at a slow pace until he can look at the disc itself again. The best time for sunbathing is usually within two hours after sunrise and before sunset. Sunbathing during the day should preferably be avoided, except during the winter, when the UV index does not rise above 2 all the time that it is safe for bathing. It is also undesirable to use solar screens (mirrors, etc.). You take a bath until the body warms up, while the sweat will need to be removed from the body. When you cover your skin with a cream or lotion, it breaks down the outer layer of the skin and the chemicals enter your skin. But then where is the sun, is it to blame for the appearance of skin cancer?

First stage: 0 - 3 months
On the first day, during the safe hour, you look at the sun for a maximum of 10 seconds. The second day is 20 seconds, and so on, adding 10 seconds each subsequent day. So, at the end of 10 continuous days of observing the sun, you will have already watched 100 seconds, i.e. 1 minute 40 seconds. Stand on bare ground with bare feet. You can blink your eyes or squint them. The immobility and stability of the eyes is not required. Do not use any lenses or glass. The rays of the sun that you receive into your eyes are of great benefit and will not harm you. Even if you do not believe in the benefits of this method, you will also get results, but it will take a longer time. At the same time, there is no need to limit yourself in ordinary, everyday affairs. It is possible to enjoy your food by applying this practice. Hunger will begin to disappear over time on its own. You can look at the sun from one place at one time every day. If you are praying, you can use any prayer of your choice.

When three months have passed, you will watch 15 minutes without tension. Solar energy or solar rays passing through the human eye, charge the hypothalamic tract, which is the pathway behind the retina, coming to the human brain. Since the brain receives its energy supply through this pathway, it is activated in the cerebellum. One of the programs in the brain will begin to make changes from the moment we stop feeling stress or anxiety. In addition, there will be confidence to solve life's problems by developing a positive mindset instead of a negative one. Moreover, we will begin to leave such unpleasant emotions as irritability, fear, anger, sadness and other personality disorders. Life will become easier, happy, euphoric states may visit you more often. I remind you that this will happen in the first phase of the method after 3 months. Some may end there if their goal is to gain peace of mind and get rid of the need to solve numerous obsessive everyday and life problems, and go straight to the last step "after 9 months".

Second stage: 3 - 6 months
Those who have continued sun healing may further note that physical illnesses will begin to heal. 70-80% of the energy synthesized by the body from food is taken by the brain and used to burn tension and unrest. When mental tension starts to leave you, the brain will not require the same amount of energy as before. Therefore, as you continue to look at the sun and your tension decreases, your food intake will also begin to decrease.

When you reach 30 minutes of uninterrupted sun viewing, you will be slowly freed from physical illnesses from the moment when all the colors of the sun reach the brain through the eyes. The brain regulates the flow of color prana (vital energy) to the corresponding organs. All external organs receive abundant nourishment from the required color prana. The kidney is red, the heart is yellow, the intestines are green, etc. The color reaches the organs and makes up for any deficiency. This is how the science and practice of color therapy works, on which there is now a lot of available information. Scientific color therapy methods such as tanning beds, crystals, colored bottles, natural stones, gems all use solar energy that is stored in these natural minerals. You can put a natural colored stone in your drinking water to further speed up the healing. In solariums there is usually a platform at a height of 30 m, where each of the 7 glass cabinets is designed for each of the seven colors of the rainbow. This platform revolves around the sun all day long, and according to the nature of the detected disease, the patient is positioned in the appropriate color for healing. Similarly, glass bottles of drinking water of various colors are placed in the sun for 8 hours. Water receives the energy of the sun, acquires healing properties and is used for various diseases. The process that takes place in us is akin to plant photosynthesis. It transforms solar energy into a usable form of energy. This is similar to how a solar panel works and produces electricity, water is heated and food is cooked in a solar kitchen, and solar panels drive a car.

The entire spectrum of sunlight received through the eyes is distributed in various ways throughout the body through the brain in the required amount. As a result, you are cured of all diseases. Over time, as you look at the sun, energy is no longer spent on mental troubles or overcoming physical weakness, it is stored and increases its level in your body. You become your own master in these 6 months. At this stage, some who only need to improve their health can also finish and go directly to the “after 9 months of observation” stage.

Third stage: 6 - 9 months
As you continue observing for 6 months, you will begin to acquire the original form of micronutrition that comes from our sun. After 7.5 months and 35 minutes of observation, hunger will begin to decrease perceptibly. There will be no need to eat more than your hunger level will tell you. Hunger usually comes when the body needs the energy it needs to exist. Food in itself is not a necessity for the functioning of the body, only energy. In the traditional way, you receive solar energy indirectly when you eat food that is a by-product of solar energy. Moreover, if the food is grown agrochemically, the energy of the sun in it is much less than in the one that is grown biodynamically with treatment with drugs, composts, etc. (therefore, the transition to this type of nutrition through the stage of biodynamic food is quite natural). If there is not enough sunlight, food intake will increase.

Therefore, by consuming the original form of food through the sun, hunger begins to decrease until it gradually disappears. By eight months, you should notice that the hunger is almost gone. For a weak student or one who does not believe in it, the period can be stretched up to 9 months or 44 minutes. After this time, hunger disappears altogether. All sensations associated with hunger, like aromas, cravings for “something tasty” and hunger pains, will also disappear, and energy levels will be at the highest level. Therefore, you become a consumer of a solar kitchen.

Fourth stage: after 9 months
After 9 months, when you reach the level of 44 minutes, you must stop watching the sun, from now on, solar science does not recommend looking any further for the sake of eye health. At this time, you need to start walking barefoot on bare ground for 45 minutes daily, 6 days after the last session. Only relaxed walks. There is no need to walk fast, choppy or running. Any convenient time of the day will do, but it is preferable to go for a walk when the ground is warmer and the sun is shining on your body. When you walk barefoot, an important brain gland called the pineal gland or "third eye" is activated. The big toe represents this gland. It has always been known that this gland is the seat of the soul. The pineal gland has optic nerve endings. other glands are the pituitary gland, hypothalamus, thalamus, and tonsils. The tonsils have received increased attention in medical research in the last two years. This nucleus of solar and cosmic energy plays an important role in the photosynthesis of sunlight reaching the brain through the eyes. When you walk barefoot, the weight of your body presses on your feet and stimulates all these five glands through your fingers.

Walk 45 minutes for one year and the problem of nutrition will continue to go away from you. After a year of recharge, if you are satisfied with your progress, you can reduce your barefoot walks. A few minutes of solar energy falling on you once every 3-4 days will be enough to recharge. But if you want to boost your immune system, keep walking barefoot. Also, if you want to increase the power of memory or intelligence, keep walking. As the heat of the sun reaches your feet, the brain will become more and more active, resulting in more activity in the pineal gland. It has some mental and navigational functions. You can develop the psychic properties of telepathy, clairvoyance and have your body in several places at once. Science claims that these are human mental functions and medical experiments are being carried out to establish this.

For the internal organs, there are other useful functions besides the decomposition of food. All of these glands also have many functions and can reach an optimal level of development through the medium of solar energy. Under the right conditions, you can optimally activate your brain and achieve a high level of enlightenment, such as being able to read the past, present, and future. This method can be safely used to control obesity.

If we look at history, we find that many people supported themselves without food. Back in 1922, the Imperial Medical College in London ruled that the sun's rays are the ideal food for humans. However, no one mentioned at the same time that this conclusion is based on the books Autobiography of a Yogi by Yogananda, where he describes how he interviewed many saints and mystics to find the secrets of their lack of food. They claimed that solar energy enters through a secret door and reaches the medulla oblongata in the head. They did not divulge their secrets. This knowledge was lost to the common man at that time. Now is the time to reveal it to people.

* * *
Of course, the method of sun healing described above is quite radical, and although it is easy to perform, not everyone will want to use it. Okay, the sun also helps to cope with worldly clues after 3 months or with the same diseases after 6, but not eating at all ... - this is almost a feat in our time. After all, deprive yourself of so many goodies and - why? However, this is already at a conscious level: if you realize that the time has come to radically change your life - act, if you have not realized this yet - think! Just do not forget that any information does not come in vain, if you have read this article to the end, it means that it did not come to you by chance ... And in the next issue we will continue to cover this topic and touch on the experience of those who are already healing with the sun and, being at different stages, gets certain results.

As for those who would like to immediately start mastering this method, but ... winter gets in the way, I can recommend two options. The first is to start from February and end in November, that is, just for the entire warm period. And the second - in winter, in our conditions, instead of standing barefoot, you can put woolen socks or felt boots on your feet, i.e. products made of natural material that do not prevent the free flow of energy through the legs from the Earth and from Space.

SUN LIGHT TREATMENT OR HELIO THERAPY

Sunlight treatment, or heliotherapy (from the Greek "helios" - the sun) is one of the most affordable types of treatment. The sun is a natural source of light, and people have long enjoyed the good that God has given them.

ACTION OF SUN LIGHT

Modern research has revealed that when exposed to sunlight, the pineal gland, located in the diencephalon, produces a hormone called melatonin. For example, the rate of aging of the body depends on the amount of this hormone. Melatonin intercepts the so-called free radicals - compounds that are formed as a result of metabolism. Free radicals harm the entire body, make blood vessels fragile, contribute to the formation of atherosclerotic plaques, destroy genetic information in the nuclei of cells. What effect does sunlight have?

The blood circulation is stabilized. In the summer, the number of deaths from a heart attack decreases. Solar energy affects sperm production. Scientists have found that sexual activity increases in summer. The heartbeat and pulse become more frequent, blood vessels dilate, and, as a result, blood flow to the skin increases, which makes it look much better. Muscles become more elastic Metabolism increases: food is processed better, fats break down faster, protein is easier to digest. Solar energy has an exciting effect on the brain. Even after a short exposure to the sun, brain activity noticeably improves. Sunlight stimulates the immune system. It is useful to look at the sun - this is a good exercise for the eyes.

Sunlight is essential for the formation of vitamin D, which is the building block for teeth and bones. With a lack of sunlight, children develop rickets, a disease that causes a curvature of the spine. Without vitamin D, normal bone development is impossible. Osteoporosis, which is the cause of bone fragility in old age, is also largely the result of a lack of vitamin D. Osteoporosis is more common in people who lead a sedentary lifestyle and rarely get into the sun. Ultraviolet rays slow down the growth of cancer cells, with the help of sunlight, our body produces substances that successfully fight cancer cells: interleukocytes and interferon. People who rarely go out into the sun are at greater risk of getting cancer.

Heliotherapy comes from the fact that natural remedies contain the healing power of sunlight. Thus, plants or plant extracts that have accumulated sunlight over the summer can be of undoubted benefit in the treatment of diseases. During drying and further processing, medicinal plants are deliberately placed in purple glass vessels and subjected to increased solar radiation. It is believed that from this they come to life and enrich themselves. The violet part of the solar spectrum kills harmful bacteria. Then the plants are processed into solar elixirs, essences for solariums, solar pills.

HELIOTHERAPY IN FOLK MEDICINE IN OTHER COUNTRIES

The English physician Edward Bach developed his flower therapy, which is very popular these days. Its essence is as follows: for each disease and each individual, certain flowers are selected. They are harvested only when they have fully bloomed and absorbed the maximum possible amount of sunlight. Dr. Bach put them in fresh water, exposed them to the sun and waited until they withered, because he believed that this was the only way their energy and healing power were transferred to the water. The doctor called this process of making medicinal potions the "solar" method. The Swiss August Rollier, who called himself a heliotherapist, maintained a "solar clinic" in the Swiss Alps and treated tuberculosis patients there with unprecedented success. Treated with sun and herbs. He argued that the higher the dose of solar irradiation of the plant, the better the treatment. He successfully treated colitis, anemia, gout, atherosclerosis, skin diseases and asthma. He described his method in the book "Healing with the sun."

TYPES OF SOLAR RADIATION

The optical radiation of the Sun consists of visible radiation (own light) and invisible - infrared and ultraviolet radiation. Different layers of the skin absorb these rays differently. The depth of their penetration increases with the transition from ultraviolet to infrared radiation. The sun's rays have a healing effect on the entire body. Blood circulation and the work of the heart muscle are activated, the nervous system is strengthened, physical activity is increased, and the supply of organs and bones with calcium is improved.

Attention! Solar radiation is contraindicated in malignant and benign neoplasms, cardiovascular diseases.

Sunbathing. Sunbathing is useful for many diseases. But there are certain rules for taking them, which should be observed so as not to harm yourself. On the first day, you can not be in direct sunlight for more than 5-10 minutes, on the second day, the bath time can be 15 minutes, the next day, the time spent in the sun is increased by another 5 minutes, bringing it to 50-60 minutes. Staying in the sun for more than 1 hour is not recommended.

Infrared radiation. Its source is any heated body, and the intensity and composition of such radiation are determined by the temperature of the body. The human body, by the way, is also a powerful source of infrared radiation. Infrared rays make up to 45-50% of the solar radiation falling on the earth. Under the influence of these rays, blood flow in the tissues increases. Infrared radiation stimulates healing processes in the focus of inflammation. If you expose large areas of the body to radiation, there will be an increase in breathing. Infrared radiation has anti-inflammatory, metabolic and vasodilating effects. It is useful for chronic and subacute non-purulent inflammatory diseases of the internal organs, burns and frostbite, sluggishly healing wounds and ulcers, diseases of the peripheral nervous system (myositis, neuralgia), and the consequences of injuries of the musculoskeletal system. You should not be exposed to infrared radiation in case of malignant neoplasms and suspicions of their presence, a tendency to bleeding, in acute inflammatory and purulent processes, cerebrovascular insufficiency, cardiovascular insufficiency.

Ultraviolet radiation. The ultraviolet part of sunlight is divided into component rays of the spectrum: A - long-wave radiation, B - medium-wave radiation, C - short-wave radiation.

Ultraviolet long-wave irradiation A causes pigmentation, or tanning, of the skin. Under the action of these rays, the body's immune system is stimulated, its resistance to harmful environmental factors increases. Such training of the immune system is especially necessary for people weakened by chronic diseases. Indications for this type of exposure are chronic inflammatory diseases of internal organs (especially the respiratory system); diseases of the joints and bones; burns and frostbite; sluggishly healing wounds and ulcers; eczema; seborrhea; fatigue. Shingles (psoriasis) respond well to sun treatment. At the same time, excessive and uncontrolled ultraviolet radiation leads to skin aging and can cause cell mutation, that is, subsequently lead to malignant neoplasms. Contraindications to long-wave irradiation: benign and malignant tumors, cardiovascular diseases, acute inflammatory and purulent diseases, liver and kidney diseases with severe dysfunction, increased sensitivity to ultraviolet radiation.

Medium-wavelength ultraviolet B radiation leads to reddening of the skin. Redness appears after 3-12 hours from the beginning of irradiation, lasts up to 3 days, has clear boundaries and an even red-violet color. When irradiated with medium-wave ultraviolet rays of the surface layers of the skin, the provitamin contained in the drink turns into vitamin D3, an essential component of calcium-phosphorus metabolism in the body. In the kidneys, vitamin D3 regulates the excretion of calcium and phosphate ions in the urine. In the cells of bone tissue, again with the help of this vitamin, calcium accumulates. If this element in the body is not enough, mental performance decreases, the excitability of nerve centers increases, calcium is washed out of bones and teeth, and blood coagulates worse. Children lag behind in development. The reactions that occur during irradiation with medium-wave rays of the UV spectrum stimulate the activity of almost all body systems. Medium-wave ultraviolet radiation is useful in inflammatory diseases of the internal organs (especially the respiratory system); consequences of wounds and injuries of the musculoskeletal system; diseases of internal organs (pneumonia, bronchitis, gastritis); rickets, metabolic disorders; diseases of the nervous and muscular system (neuritis, sciatica); skin diseases; diseases of bones and joints.

Short-wave ultraviolet radiation C has a high bactericidal effect. It is very useful for wounds, cuts, skin diseases (abscesses, acne), purulent inflammation. This radiation, like other types of radiation, is contraindicated in malignant and benign neoplasms, cardiovascular diseases. Ultraviolet radiation devices can be purchased at a pharmacy or electrical stores, successfully using them in the winter.

Heliotherapy - (from the Greek. helios- sun, therapy- treatment) - sun therapy, - therapeutic and prophylactic use of direct sunlight (sunbathing). Sunlight is a part of electromagnetic radiation that travels in the form of waves of various wavelengths and has a certain energy. The most ancient schools of medicine knew about the healing power of sunlight: the Egyptians and Assyrians, participants in the Olympic Games in Ancient Greece, took sunbaths, the healing effects of the sun are repeatedly mentioned in the manuscripts of Hippocrates. Scientific studies of the effect of light on a living organism began at the end of the 19th century. Light therapy as a science originates from the discovery by the English scientists J. Down and R. Blunt (1877) of the healing properties of ultraviolet rays (treatment of skin diseases and rickets). However, the most significant success was achieved by the Danish physiotherapist N. Finsen. “In recognition of merit in the treatment of diseases, especially lupus, with the help of concentrated light radiation, which opened up new broad horizons for medical science,” N. Finsen received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1903.

The spectral composition of solar radiation is not uniform. At the Earth's surface, it is represented by ultraviolet (1%), visible (40%) and infrared parts (59%). The therapeutic effect of heliotherapy is due to the simultaneous exposure to several ranges of optical radiation - infrared, visible and ultraviolet. The eye is able to perceive wavelengths from 400 to 700 nm. Visible light is only a small part of the electromagnetic spectrum that exists in nature. The parts of the solar spectrum invisible to the eye include ultraviolet (wavelength 200-400 nm) and infrared radiation (wavelength 760-2000 nm). Total solar radiation (“insolation”) includes three types: direct, coming directly from the Sun, scattered from the firmament and reflected from the surface of the Earth and various objects.

Infrared radiation(IR, wavelength 760-2000 nm) is almost completely retained by the stratum corneum of the skin. Infrared radiation penetrates the body to a depth of about 20 mm, therefore, the surface layers are heated to a greater extent, resulting in a temperature gradient, which activates the thermoregulatory system and increases blood flow to the skin. The calorific effect explains the possibility of getting heat stroke from excessive exposure to the sun. Infra-red rays improve blood circulation, and the hyperemia caused by these rays has an analgesic effect.

Visible radiation(from 400 to 700 m) has an effect on the photoreceptors of the retina, which affects the functional state of the central nervous system, determines the daily biorhythm and performs an information function. The light flux stimulates the synthesis of melatonin by the pineal gland, the humoral regulation of metabolic processes through the activation of the production of gonadotropic and somatotropic hormones of the pituitary gland, which has direct connections with the visual analyzer. Visible sunlight increases the activity of the cerebral cortex, has a positive effect on the emotional state of a person, affects photochemical processes, metabolism, hormonal levels, and the cardiovascular system. In addition, in sunlight, the “hormone of joy” is actively produced - serotonin, the lack of which is responsible for the occurrence of winter depression.

Ultraviolet radiation (UV) in the range of 290-400 nm has the strongest effect on the human body. According to human exposure, three ranges are distinguished: UV-A (315-380 nm), UV-B (280-315 nm) and UV-C (200-280 nm). Under the influence of ultraviolet rays, redox processes in the body are enhanced, immunological protection and chemical activity of the most important functions of the body are increased. The most important point is the improvement of vitamin formation and the reflex effect on the organs and systems of the body with the participation of the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, adrenal cortex and other endocrine glands, which ensures the stability of internal homeostasis. Heliotherapy has a beneficial effect not only on the skin, but also strengthens the body as a whole, which provides a sanogenetic effect in many diseases.

Longwave UV-A(315-380 nm) provides melanin synthesis in melanocytes. Melanin absorbs radiation in the entire range of visible light and in almost the entire range. In addition, melanin absorbs UV radiation and releases toxic molecules called free radicals that can damage skin cells. Melanocytes supply melanin to the surrounding keratinocytes, passing them melanosomes - specialized melanin-containing vesicles that form an even, healthy tan. In black skin, melanosomes are evenly distributed from the basal layer of the skin to the stratum corneum, and in keratinocytes they are located in such a way as to protect the cell nucleus from damage by UV radiation to the maximum. In white-skinned people, melanin is distributed predominantly in the basal layer in separate clusters of small granules, which often leave vital parts of cells unprotected from UV radiation. The photoreceptor of the immunosuppression process, urocanic acid, is also localized in the superficial layers of the skin. Exposure to UV-A causes its isomerization with a subsequent change in the function of antigen-presenting cells and an increase in either the number or activity of suppressor lymphocytes. The consequence of this is the suppression of the body's ability to reject cancer cells, as well as the suppression of contact hypersensitivity and delayed-type hypersensitivity to various antigens. The phototype of the skin is an important factor, since it has been proven that people who quickly burn in the sun and hardly get a tan are more susceptible to a decrease in immunity from UV radiation than those who tan easily and rarely burn.

Medium wave UV-B radiation(280-315 nm) leads to the formation of reactive oxygen species, and to the formation of limited skin hyperemia - erythema (pro-inflammatory effect - primary). The resulting histamine, serotonin, prostaglandins enter the bloodstream and stimulate cellular respiration of various body tissues, enhance hyperplastic processes and reparative regeneration (secondary effect). As a result of a photochemical reaction, the formation of calcitriol or dihydroxyvitamin D occurs, which ensures the absorption of calcium in the intestine and thus affects bone density. In addition, under the action of UV-B rays, abundantly represented in the solar spectrum, the so-called "solar calluses" are formed - a thickening of the epidermis (suffice it to recall the skin of professional fishermen and sailors).

Shortwave UV-C(200-290 nm) causes inflammation of the skin and mucous membranes of the eyes; having a bactericidal property, it disrupts the normal microflora of the water-lipid mantle of the skin, reducing its protective function. UV-C rays should hardly reach the Earth's surface, as they are blocked by its ozone layer. However, in recent years there has been a sad trend towards the destruction of this layer.

sunbathing were prescribed by doctors, as an invariable component of spa therapy, to all visitors to water resorts. However, this was more of the nature of aerotherapy, since aristocratic pallor was in vogue. At the end of the XIX century. a trip to the waters or seaside resorts, already in vogue, was a kind of symbol that defines belonging to the high society. “Summer migration was so general that there was no one left in Paris except peers, proletarians and provincials who came to admire the capital,” A. Martin-Fugier wrote in her notes “Elegant Life ...”. The elegant outfits of the ladies were necessarily complemented by a wide-brimmed hat with a veil, which protected the face from the sun, which deprives the lovely ladies not only of their aristocratic pallor, but also adds wrinkles to their well-groomed faces. The fashion to return from the sea tanned was introduced at the beginning of the 20th century. the great trendsetter - Coco Chanel.

Chocolate tan as a result of heliotherapy, makes a person more attractive, but the beneficial rays of the sun must be used correctly. Cosmetologists and dermatologists around the world agree that there is no such thing as a "healthy tan". Melanin, the coloring pigment produced in the skin during tanning, acts like a small brown hat to shield the core of the skin cell from the damaging rays of the sun. Blondes and redheads have less melanin in their skin than brunettes, so they do not tan well, but quickly “burn out” in the first days of rest by the sea, getting extensive sunburn. It should be remembered that sunburn is a protective reaction of the skin to the damaging effects of sunlight, and the incidence of skin cancer, according to WHO, is highest in southern countries - Australia and Israel.

Scientists believe that over the past 10 years, due to the thinning of the ozone layer, the intensity of UV radiation has increased by 3-10%. It was this fact that convinced doctors to reconsider their attitude towards a “healthy tan”. According to scientists, increased insolation has led to an increase in the incidence of skin cancer among fair-skinned people living in countries with a temperate climate and places close to the equator. Over the past 30 years, it has increased by 2-3 times.

Hyperinsolation in debilitated people can lead to an exacerbation of disease processes that have subsided and have not been noticed until that time.

Heliotherapy is indicated for: diseases of internal organs outside the exacerbation phase, conditions after injuries in the convalescence phase, hypovitaminosis D, light starvation. Sunburn is useful for those who have acne-prone skin. Ultraviolet rays cleanse the mouth of the sebaceous gland and cause slight peeling of the skin. When peeling, along with dead cells, scales that clog the mouth of the sebaceous gland are removed from the surface of the skin, and its functions are restored. Heliotherapy is indicated for patients suffering from psoriasis.

Heliotherapy and exposure to direct sunlight is contraindicated with many diseases. You can not sunbathe people with circulatory failure. Sun exposure can increase shortness of breath and swelling. Sunbathing is dangerous for people suffering from severe hypertension. Heat increases the risk of developing a hypertensive crisis. With coronary heart disease, sunbathing can lead to the development of an attack of angina pectoris and even to myocardial infarction. The reasons for this are that on a hot summer day, the oxygen content in the air is minimal, and the high air temperature puts an additional burden on a sick heart. It is also dangerous to sunbathe for patients with diabetes mellitus, with any dysfunction of the thyroid gland, adrenal glands, severe lung diseases, lupus erythematosus. Under the influence of the sun, the course of some forms of tuberculosis may be aggravated. Sunbathing can have an unpredictable effect on people suffering from mental illness, neurosis, neurasthenia. Therefore, it is better for them not to abuse the sun either. Excess ultraviolet radiation and overheating can have a negative impact on the psyche in children. They become capricious, do not sleep well, are picky about food. Heliotherapy is contraindicated for those who have recently undergone surgery, as well as with a tendency to various bleeding, including nasal bleeding. Due to the ability of the sun to "thinn" the blood and increase bleeding, it is not recommended to sunbathe during menstruation. During menopause, prolonged exposure to the sun can increase the frequency of hot flashes. It is undesirable to sunbathe during pregnancy, even if it is normal. In diseases accompanied by an increased level of estrogen (mastopathy, fibroids), you can not sunbathe. From exposure to ultraviolet rays, the condition of women suffering from inflammatory diseases of the female genital organs can worsen. Sunburn is also contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the sun's rays. Solar urticaria most often develops in people with impaired liver function.

Sunburn is contraindicated with some hereditary diseases. First of all, it is melanoma - a malignant tumor that appears on the skin under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, including solar radiation. For its appearance, an appropriate hereditary predisposition is required, so if there are cases of melanoma among relatives, tanning is contraindicated. The sun's rays can play a similar role in the development of another serious disease - lupus erythematosus, which also depends to a large extent on hereditary predisposition.

Many skin diseases can modify their course under the influence of insolation (psoriasis, Gibert's lichen, etc.), and not always for the better. Heliotherapy and exposure to the sun are extremely dangerous in diseases caused by a violation of the mechanism of dark DNA repair (recovery), such as xeroderma pigmentosa, Bloom's syndrome, Fanconi's syndrome, etc. The sun's rays can be very aggressive on the skin of a person in whose body there is a deficiency of nicotinic acid (vitamin PP).

The sun's rays can contribute to the appearance of age spots (chloasma) on the skin of the forehead, cheeks, nose of pregnant women, especially in women who are naturally swarthy. Usually these spots disappear spontaneously after the resolution of the pregnancy. To avoid the appearance of chloasma, you should use high-quality sunscreens, having previously read their certificate. In addition, a wide-brimmed hat has always been a worthy completion of a woman's outfit and allowed its owner to maintain an aristocratic pallor of her skin.

In any form of thyrotoxicosis, regardless of treatment, not only tanning is contraindicated, but also rest in the south during a period of high solar activity.

Overheating in the sun leads to increased sweating, to the loss of salt and water by the body. When sunbathing, one should take into account the accompanying meteorological conditions: if the ambient temperature is too high, then you can expose yourself to elementary overheating, up to heat stroke. To a large extent, this is facilitated by increased atmospheric humidity, which is characteristic of seaside resorts, especially the zones of humid subtropics, since in this situation evaporation from the surface of the body is difficult and the protective mechanism of heat transfer is not activated.

The pleasant freshness of the air of mountain resorts is also deceptive. The higher the resort is located above sea level, the greater the UV radiation, because the number of absorbers in the atmosphere also decreases. Observations show that UV radiation increases by 6-8% (according to other sources, by 10-12%) with an increase in altitude for every 1000 m. the level of the World Ocean, in the resorts. Even many hours of exposure to the sun does not cause sunburn, providing a beautiful even tan, but a significant amount of long-wave rays causes the destruction of collagen and elastic fibers in the dermis, thereby provoking sagging skin. According to recent studies, UV-A rays can damage the cell nucleus, thereby causing malignant neoplasms.

sunbathing

Sunbathing is taken in conditions of thermal comfort and as prescribed by a doctor. Dosing is carried out according to special tables and nomograms, depending on the state of health, the intensity of solar radiation and air temperature. After taking a sunbath, it is recommended to relax in the shade, and only then go swimming. The contrast of air and water temperatures can become a powerful hardening procedure, and maybe a stress factor that requires hard work of organs and systems. In people with a sick heart, with prolonged exposure to the sun, edema and a feeling of heaviness in the legs often appear.

In order to use the beneficial effect of sunlight and avoid unpleasant consequences, it is not at all necessary to spend hours under the scorching sun. The flow of solar radiation reaches its highest value at noon, when the sun is at its zenith and the rays fall vertically. In order to avoid overheating during the summer months, sunbathing is recommended from 9.00 to 11.00 and from 16.00 to 18.00, in addition, light headgear should be worn. The skin of the trunk is the most sensitive to the sun, the skin of the extremities is the least sensitive.

Being in the sun, the human body experiences the total effect of direct radiation (directly from the sun), diffuse (radiation from the sky) and reflected (from the surface of the earth, objects, water). If a naked person under comfortable weather conditions is under a little shady protection - under a canopy, awning, umbrella, tree crown - he is influenced by the scattered and reflected flow of sunlight. This is a light, sparing medical procedure, very close to air baths, although even in conditions of only reflected light, up to 17% of the sun's rays fall on the human body.

Very deceptive cloud cover. Many people think that if the sun hid behind the clouds, then its biogenic insolation stops. However, this is not the case: clouds can transmit up to 50% of the sun's rays.

When swimming in the sea, the action of ultraviolet rays continues. A naked body above the surface of the water is exposed to an even greater dose of radiation than on land, since water has the ability to largely reflect the sun's rays. In addition, ultraviolet rays penetrate into the water to a depth of up to 1 m, however, their greatest penetration occurs to a depth of up to 25 cm.

The sun is our friend and enemy. In order for it to become a good friend, one must treat it with respect, be guided by the advice of doctors, and be disciplined on the beaches of the hot south. Sunlight is a medicine, it gives a wonderful healing effect. But, like any medicine, it must be strictly dosed.

  • Test for determining the sufficiency of a sunbath. When staying on the beach, you need to periodically press your fingers on any part of the naked body exposed to the sun, and if a white spot remains on the skin after pressing, the beach should be left.
  • Sunscreens are applied to the skin half an hour before sunbathing, as well as every 2 hours and after bathing.
  • Do an allergy test before using sunscreen for the first time. Apply the cream to a small area of skin in the elbow and apply a compress of several layers of gauze on it. Leave overnight and in the morning see if there are any rashes on the skin.
  • Children have delicate skin that is very sensitive and susceptible to radiation. For protection, it is better to use special creams for children or sunscreens for adults with the maximum degree of protection. The wet body of the child is even more susceptible to sunburn, so after bathing it should be dried with a towel or sheet.
  • Do not cleanse the body before tanning with soap, do not wipe the skin with lotions, toilet waters. Soap destroys the protective coating of the skin and degreases it. Lotion, toilet water make the skin sensitive to ultraviolet rays. As a result, you may develop individual brown spots.
  • Going to sunbathe, lubricate your lips with colorless (hygienic) lipstick.
  • To protect the skin from the sun and to soften it, you can not use mineral fats - petroleum jelly, glycerin, since droplets form on it, creating the effect of small collective lenses, which can lead to burns.
  • The bathing period should be included in the total time spent in the sun, because under water at a depth of half a meter, the skin absorbs 60% of the radiation. For diving enthusiasts, there are waterproof sunscreens (Waterproof).
  • After returning from the beach, be sure to wash off the sunscreen in the shower and apply soothing and refreshing products.
  • Be sure to cover your head and eyes when you are under the scorching sun.
  • Sunbathing is unacceptable on an empty stomach or immediately after a meal.
  • Do not quench your thirst with cold drinks or alcohol while sunbathing.
  • It is useful before sunbathing to eat a little salty, drink cold tea.
  • If possible, go barefoot (and a child under 5 - 6 years old is better to be naked at all!).
  • Try to prevent the child from sunbathing while lying down for a long time - 3-4 minutes on the back, on the stomach, on the right and left side (after bathing), then send him to play with other children - in motion the tan will be even and after a while chocolate, and the risk of burns is much lower.
  • Being on the beach, it is more useful not to lie down, but to move - to swim, do gymnastics, play ball. Movement promotes blood circulation and metabolism in the skin. Thanks to this, the tan on the skin will appear faster and will be more even.
  • If you are sunbathing lying down, your head should be slightly raised. On hot days, the temperature of pebbles and sand reaches 60 ° C, which is why it is better to sunbathe on trestle beds or sun loungers.
  • Elderly people, pregnant women, children, patients with diseases of the heart and blood vessels should be especially careful about sunbathing.
  • Do not get carried away with excessive tanning: prolonged exposure to the sun, in addition to possible damage to health, accelerates skin aging.
  • Clothing selectively transmits UV rays: cotton voile, natural silk, light-colored crepe de chine - up to 30-60%; linen, staple, satin, dark-dyed cotton fabrics and crepe de chine - less than 10%; synthetic clothing - from 30 to 70%.

Solariums

The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes the fact that the use of artificial tanning equipment can lead to the development of skin cancer and that persons under 18 years of age should not use such equipment. It is known that young people who get sunburned by UV rays are at greater risk of developing melanoma later in life, and recent studies show a direct link between the use of tanning equipment and cancer. In 2003, the WHO published the booklet Suntanning Equipment: Risks and Guidelines. However, at present, only a few countries have effective legal provisions regarding tanning beds or their use. Belgium, France and Sweden have laws limiting the maximum share of UVB radiation (the most dangerous component of ultraviolet radiation) in total UV radiation to 1.5% (which corresponds to the level of carcinogenic UV radiation from the sun). In accordance with the legal regulations in force in France, all devices emitting UV radiation must be declared to the public health authorities; persons under 18 years of age may not be allowed to use them; specially trained personnel must inspect all commercial tanning parlors; and any claims of health benefits from such devices are prohibited. In the State of California, USA, persons under the age of 18 are prohibited from using tanning equipment/saloons.

Without sunlight, life on the planet would be impossible. After all, the Sun is the main source of energy for all processes taking place on earth. Since ancient times, people have highly valued the healing properties of the Sun and perceived it as a reliable ally in the fight against diseases. The visible part of the solar spectrum is heterogeneous and consists of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet beams, they are visible after a thunderstorm, when a rainbow appears in the sky. One side of the invisible part is a continuation of the red spectrum, and therefore is called infrared, the other is beyond the violet end, and therefore is called ultraviolet.

Solar radiation is a powerful stream of pure energy in the form of a series of electromagnetic oscillations of different wavelengths. Infra-red rays have the longest wavelength - from 760 to 2300 nm. They make up about 70% of the solar radiation and have a thermal effect. Visible rays have a wavelength from 400 to 760 nm. Ultraviolet rays have the smallest wavelength - from 295 to 400 nm. The ultraviolet part of the solar spectrum near the earth's surface accounts for only about 5% of solar radiation. However, this area has the highest biological activity. Due to the fact that the spectrum of ultraviolet rays is heterogeneous, its effect on the body is different. An important factor is the vitamin-forming effect. Under the influence of ultraviolet rays, vitamin D is synthesized in the skin, its deficiency in the body causes disturbances in phosphorus-calcium metabolism, and leads to rickets in children. Another part of the spectrum of ultraviolet rays contributes to the production of pigment (melanin) in the skin, which is why it acquires a golden brown color - a tan. And, finally, the shortest ultraviolet rays have a bactericidal (disinfecting) effect, they kill pathogenic microbes that constantly attack our body.

One more property of ultraviolet rays should be remembered - they are very sensitive to obstacles: for example, one layer of gauze delays up to 50% of all rays. Gauze, folded four times, as well as window glass 2 mm thick, completely excludes their penetration.

When irradiated by the sun, some of the rays are reflected by the skin, while the other penetrates deep and has a thermal effect. Infrared rays can penetrate the body 5-6cm; visible rays - by a few millimeters, and ultraviolet - by only 0.2-0.4 mm. Under natural conditions, the human body is affected by three types of radiation: direct, coming directly from the Sun, diffuse, coming from the vault of heaven, and reflected from various terrestrial objects.

The energy composition of the first two types is different depending on the height of the Sun. The effect of sunlight on our body is truly amazing. Ultraviolet rays act on nerve endings and are involved in complex chemical transformations that occur in the body. In addition, exposure to sunlight helps to increase the tone of the central nervous system, improve metabolism and blood composition, and activates the activity of the endocrine glands. All this improves the well-being of a person, charging him with cheerfulness and energy. Ultraviolet rays have a detrimental effect on pathogenic microbes.

If you deprive a person of sunlight, he may develop light starvation. It is expressed in a decrease in the tone of the central nervous system and the body's defenses, a violation of metabolic processes, a decrease in efficiency, an increase in the tendency to colds, a deterioration in well-being and sleep.

The sun, of course, has a truly amazing healing effect, but we must not forget that everything is good in moderation. After all, an overdose of solar radiation can cause irreparable harm - cause serious disorders of the nervous, cardiovascular and other vital systems of the body.

Solar radiation is the most powerful source of energy. For example: in 30 minutes of exposure to the sun, you will get about 264 thousand calories. This amount of heat is enough to bring 3.3 liters of water to a boil. And if you rest in Yalta and sunbathe for 2 hours a day, then for the entire time of the rest you will gain so much energy that it would be enough to burn a 50-watt light bulb for a whole year for 5-6 hours a day. The sun is a powerful potent factor, and therefore, when using its radiant energy, certain caution should be observed. Within a few minutes of exposure to the sun, the skin will turn pink and then red, you will feel warm, and after 5-6 minutes the redness will disappear and reappear only after a few hours. All this happens as a result of the action of ultraviolet rays on the skin. With repeated exposure to the sun, they will contribute to the synthesis of a coloring pigment in the skin - melanin, which gives it a tan. The main reason for an overdose of solar radiation is the desire to tan as quickly and strongly as possible, to acquire a beautiful skin color. Many believe that the darker the tan, the higher the biological effect of sunbathing. But not exactly. After all, darkening of the skin is only one of the responses of the body to the effects of sunlight, and it would be a mistake to judge the general healing effect by it.

The healing properties of sunbathing begin to appear at lower doses than at doses that cause intense pigmentation. Therefore, to improve health and increase efficiency, you do not need a particularly strong tan at all, especially since the pursuit of it can cause serious harm instead of good. The result of inept use of the sun is overheating of the body, and burns appear on the skin. They arise both from direct exposure and from sunlight reflected from ice, snow and the water surface.

Sunburn is an inflammation of the skin caused by ultraviolet rays. Within 5-7 hours after irradiation, redness and swelling appear on the skin. Then, as a result of the toxic substances formed during the decay of cells, symptoms of intoxication appear: severe headache, malaise, decreased performance. The affected areas should be wiped with diluted alcohol, applied to them with clean wipes moistened with a 2% solution of potassium permanganate, lubricated with petroleum jelly. The most severe consequence of an overdose of solar energy is the so-called heat stroke. Its signs: general weakness, sluggish gait, apathy, heaviness in the legs, dizziness and headache, flickering and darkening in the eyes, thirst, nausea, vomiting. Along with this, there are profuse sweating, fever, increased heart rate and respiration. With sunstroke, there is a slow increase in body temperature.

If these symptoms are detected, urgent measures must be taken to stop further exposure to sunlight or other heat rays. Move the victim to a cool place, take off his clothes, increase air circulation, if necessary, perform artificial respiration, provide complete rest and call an ambulance.

Dosing sunbathing is carried out according to the photochemical reactions of the skin caused by the action of ultraviolet rays, or according to the amount of absorbed thermal energy. The minimum time required for the appearance of visible photochemical reactions in the form of reddening of the skin is taken as one biological dose of exposure to ultraviolet radiation.

If you need to take baths lying down, you need to remember the following: the amount of solar energy acting on the body depends on how the body is located in relation to the direction of direct sunlight. If its location is parallel (along) to their orientation, the body receives less direct sunlight, and if it is across (perpendicular), then much more. Thus, at a low solstice, the person being tempered should sunbathe while lying on his side. While sunbathing, change your body position more often, turn your back to the sun, then your stomach, then sideways. In no case should you sleep, otherwise it will not be possible to take into account the duration of exposure to the sun and, as a result of carelessness, you can get dangerous burns. It is also not recommended to read, because the sun has a harmful effect on the eyes.

Since wet skin burns faster, if sweat appears, it must be thoroughly wiped off. Before taking a sunbath, you should not swim, and also continuously alternate exposure with bathing. Only very strong, seasoned people can do this. Another detail to consider when sunbathing. Fabrics made of nylon, capron and some other synthetic materials are highly permeable to ultraviolet rays. Staying in such clothes does not protect the body from their effects. Therefore, to prevent overdose, sunbathing time should be reduced. After the procedure, rest, take a shower or swim. Rubbing the body is not necessary, because even without that the rush of blood to the skin is quite sufficient.
