NPC for younger students are relevant topics. What is research work in elementary school

She studies at the Lyceum. At one of the first meetings in the class, a scientific work for first-graders was announced. “If you wish,” the teacher said, “If you feel that your child will be able to speak, get ready.”

A month later, scientific work was declared mandatory. All of our first-graders were “offered” to present their scientific work in the classroom, and send the best papers to the school conference. It is worth noting that children from 6 to 7.5-8 years old study in our Zhokhov class. The age difference is very large. Can you imagine what it means to present a scientific work to a six-year-old?

Research work in elementary school involves not only conducting experiments, but also putting forward a hypothesis, setting tasks and goals of scientific work. Writing an explanatory note, report and visual presentation.

It is clear that most of this work falls on the shoulders of parents. Which is fundamentally wrong. Therefore, I tried to make sure that Anyuta took part as much as possible and missed the scientific work “through herself”. We made it.

This article - our experience in organizing scientific work for a first-grader. I hope it will be useful to parents of children preparing for scientific work.

Scientific work for a first grader

Let's highlight 7 main points for the successful implementation of research work.

  1. Topic selection.
  2. Setting goals and objectives of scientific work. Putting forward a hypothesis.
  3. Implementation of the practical part (conducting experiments/research).
  4. Conclusions/analysis.
  5. Writing an explanatory note.
  6. Preparing a report for a speech.
  7. Creating a presentation.
  8. Training, preparation for performance.

Choosing a topic for research work

There are two points to consider when choosing a research topic:

  1. child's interests.
  2. Parent's area of expertise.

It is important that the topic of work captivates the child, otherwise he will not be able to fully participate in the process. He just won't be interested. And it is equally important that the parent has a good command of the topic.

My daughter and I thought about the research topic for a long time, but she was born by accident. At dinner. Anyutka ate cheese and thought: why is it yellow? After all, it is made from white milk. All! I immediately offered to make the cheese on my own, at the same time and sort out this issue.

As a villager in the past, I knew all this firsthand. We made our own sour cream, butter, cottage cheese and cheese. So my daughter got acquainted with these processes. The topic of the scientific work was formulated and invented by Anya herself: “Amazing transformations of milk”.

Setting goals and objectives of scientific work. Hypothesis

Let me tell you how it was for us.

Having decided on the topic, we talked a lot about what we would do. I talked about my own: how together with my grandmother we churned butter in a butter churn, how there were jars of milk on the veranda, how we cooked cottage cheese, etc.

She asked thought provoking questions. We talked about natural products and additives, talked about why kefir, sour cream, cottage cheese are called sour milk.

Exactly in conversations with the child, the goals and objectives of scientific work are born. Later, when you write an explanatory note, you will help to formulate them beautifully. But in the head of the child, they will be fixed through discussions.

When you understand that the child knows where to follow and what to do, you can begin to conduct experiments and experiments.

I will talk about the practical part of our research work in a separate article, but for now let's move on to writing an explanatory note or to the text design of a scientific work.

Scientific work of a first grader - how to arrange

When we finished with the experiments, I wondered how to properly arrange a scientific work. We took photos of ours and were ready to write a short report. But this was not enough.

Each school has requirements for the design of scientific work. Be sure to read them in order to understand what sections should be in scientific work, what font to use, how the work will be evaluated.

The main sections of the explanatory note to the scientific work:

  • Introduction.
  • Theoretical part.
  • Practical part.
  • Conclusion (with conclusions).
  • Bibliography.

In addition to the explanatory note, a report is written - what the child will talk about at the speech.

When I found out about this, my eyes widened. Yes, a high school student can do it. But kids! First graders. This is just unreal. But since we have taken up scientific work, we need to complete it.

How did my daughter and I do? We did everything together. To make it clear to Anyutka, each time before starting work, we made a small plan: what we want to talk about. I typed the text, Anya helped formulate thoughts.

We spent about a week on the explanatory note. They worked for about an hour a day.

Preparing a report for a speech

I wrote the report for the presentation myself. Just made a selection from our overall work, and simplified the sentences. Then I gave Anyutka to proofread. She read, I listened. Where she stumbled or found it difficult - I marked myself and simplified the text. For 3-4 times we brought it to perfection.

In the process of preparing for the speech, Anya independently adapted some points of the report for herself. And the report itself formed the basis. Not a bad achievement.

But more on that next time. I'll go into detail:

  • about the intricacies of creating a presentation;
  • how easy it is to convey information to the child and listeners;
  • how to prepare a first-grader for a speech at a scientific conference.

Your child has told you that he is going to do research work. You wouldn't be surprised if he was a student. However, he is still in elementary school. Of course, you have many questions. For example:

  • why is research work needed at all in elementary school;
  • what does she represent;
  • How is the process organized?
  • What role do adults play in this process?

What is research work in elementary school

The purpose of modern education is "to teach the child to learn". A variety of pedagogical approaches and technologies (including research work in elementary school) seek to develop in the baby such qualities as independence, initiative, the ability to cooperate, and responsibility. From the point of view of the state standard of education, the foundations of universal methods of learning activities, self-education skills are laid in elementary school. Currently, pedagogy has developed a variety of ways to maximize the development of the child's creative approach. There are two ways of acquiring knowledge by a child - reproductive and productive. In the first case, the child receives knowledge from adults, in the second - through independent development. The research work of students is an activity of a search nature, which leads to the discovery and knowledge of the new and is a powerful tool for the development of the baby. In a word, solid pluses.

What skills do students develop

So, in more detail. In the process of writing a research paper, the child becomes the subject of learning. What to expect results? In practice, the baby learns:

  • be aware of learning objectives;
  • generate ideas;
  • find non-standard solutions to problem situations;
  • develop hypotheses;
  • observe and conduct experiments;
  • independently control their work;
  • assess the quality of your work.

In general, teach children about science from an early age. You will not regret it. And the guys in the future will definitely thank you.

Conditions for organizing research work

Organization of successful research or project work is not an easy task for a teacher. A creatively thinking teacher must create an atmosphere of cooperation between schoolchildren and adults, ensure the creative growth of the child. A full-fledged research activity is possible if the following conditions are realized by the teacher:

  1. The motivation of the research is determined. The student must see the meaning of his creative activity, the possibility of realizing his talents and abilities.
  2. A working creative environment has been created. The teacher should encourage the desire for creative search, maintain the cognitive interest of students.
  3. Created a comfortable psychological atmosphere in the team. When conducting research activities, the teacher constantly creates an atmosphere of a “success situation” for each student. Every child needs to be given the opportunity to believe in himself and realize the success of his activities.

Forms of design and research activities

Next moment. The process of research activity is carried out by the student under the guidance of a teacher. When it is organized, it is possible to use several forms of activity. This is:

  • lesson-research on the topic of work;
  • short-term research (express research) on the topic during the lesson;
  • observations and descriptions of results.

Algorithm for the research work of students

Consider the order of organization. To organize children's research work, it is necessary to consistently implement the following steps:

  1. Choosing an interesting and useful topic.
  2. Search for hypotheses, possible solutions to the problem.
  3. Collection of the necessary material.
  4. Analysis of the obtained data, generalization.
  5. Collective presentation and protection of results.

What follows from this? Students' research papers must be formatted and presented correctly. Thus, the child understands the social significance of his scientific experiment.

By the way, the best research papers of primary school students can be used for the next confirmation of qualifications or a student's portfolio. And also for exhibitions and competitions. In the latter case, for the best research work, the children are given certificates and diplomas. In the future, these moments can be taken into account when a graduate enters a university.

What you need to know to conduct research

And finally. The choice of topics for children's research papers in elementary school is incredibly important. What needs to be considered? The most important thing:

  • the topic should captivate the child;
  • the theme must be feasible;
  • The topic should be practical.

What to pay attention to? Topics from the sections “The world around us”, “My family”, “Pets”, “The beauty of our language”, “Secrets of the universe”, etc. are best suited for research work in elementary school. Everything is at the discretion of the teacher and the child. To collect data on the research topic, the guys can be offered:

  • reflect on what is already known about the topic;
  • write out important information from books, newspapers and magazines;
  • learn and record information received from others;
  • use television;
  • use the internet;
  • carry out observation and experimental activities under the guidance of adults.

There are many tasks. And a very important point is to involve parents in the research work of elementary school students. But adults should not take on the project themselves. Their function is to provide assistance with advice, information, support the motivation of the child.

We draw conclusions. Participation in project work:

  • contributes to the formation of a broad worldview of the child, broadens his horizons;
  • instills the skills of universal ways of learning activities;
  • gives impetus to self-development;
  • instills skills of self-organization and self-control;
  • develops the activity of students, strengthens the sense of social responsibility.

Children come to primary, middle, high school to learn what it means to teach themselves. Conducting research activities allows you to get the maximum effect in this process.
