How much can you earn from tutoring. Part-time tutoring for students and just educated people

Intimate question: How much can you earn by tutoring?

Good afternoon, dear tutors!
I'm still studying at the Pedagogical Institute. My parents are against the choice of my profession, because I graduated from school with a medal and could go to study anywhere. But I love this one! Teach, teach.
At home, I have conflicts very often, because teachers receive very little: 10,000 at the beginning of their career, and then the increases are insignificant. Parents are forced to retrain as an economist or lawyer.
So I have a question, how much can you earn as a tutor? I understand that it all depends on the number of students or cancellations. But I'm interested in specific examples so that at home I can give a specific case as an example.
Thank you!

Why are your parents so categorical about your choice? The main thing is that you like it, because you have to work all your life, and it is important that the work brings pleasure. I think the salary depends on the city where you teach. It is clear that in Moscow the rates are higher and significantly. But living even in not the biggest city, you can earn decent money. It depends on many factors: how many students there will be, how much you are ready to take on the load. But you can earn 3-4 and much more times your parents' expected rate. So, hold on to your right to choose a profession..earn, have fun, and prove to your parents that you can make good money by teaching:) good luck to you!!!

A professional tutor in Moscow with a full-time load earns from 150 thousand rubles. per month. Moreover, "in white", taking into account taxes (because taxes for tutors are extremely low). Working with full dedication, having sufficient qualifications and, most importantly, love for one's work, it takes just a few years after graduation to achieve the above level of income - the profession of a tutor simply has no analogues in terms of career growth.

I agree with Sergey Germanovich. Cooperating with the websites of Pros, your tutor and others, in 3 years I have risen to my maximum: 60 students at a rate of 750r to 1200r. My income is now from 100 thousand and above. And this is a province where the salary is on average 15 thousand, and the rates of tutors are from 400 rubles to 600 rubles.

Alena Igorevna, it seems to me that you are not quite right in posing the question. As you know, money is the universal equivalent in the exchange of goods. While working, we exchange our labor, knowledge, skills and - what is very important - the time of our life for money. Time is irreplaceable, therefore, by definition, it is not worth changing it only for inflating pieces of paper. But if we change our life for a business that interests us, then our life becomes meaningful. Then we are full of energy, we feel joy, we do not need a psychotherapist - and we become so interesting to the world that he will share money with us :)
If it's only about money and not about work, why spend years studying economics or law? In these areas, there is already a large overabundance of specialists, so before you get to the big money, you will have to sit for a long time on a salary that is not too different from the salary of a teacher. It's better to just find a wealthy husband.

Alena Igorevna! In tutoring, as in any profession, without experience, you will have to start with a small salary, and it will not be stable right away.
Think about the fact that you can get a second higher education in economics or law, talk about it with your parents. When tutoring, neither one nor the other will be superfluous.

To post 8. What kind of nonsense? Even in our village, 30,000 can be obtained quite calmly by conducting 2 lessons a day (having experience and good reviews). What can we say about Moscow? Why are you even writing such nonsense? It is enough to take the average rate in Moscow, say, 2000 rubles, multiply it by 8 (the approximate number of lessons per month for one student), we get 16 thousand per student. In your opinion, do Moscow teachers have 4 students each?)))) Lol) 70 thousand))))))

"Write nonsense" - imperative mood, always I.
You did not order to write nonsense in the post? (don't be offended))

The approximate number of lessons per month for a student is 4, i.e. once a week (if there is still no pain). Only a few study twice, they also have tutors and have courses in other subjects. I mean high school...

I'm not offended) Itself infuriates this "write", but it jumped out))
At the expense of two times: I have everyone doing it twice. There is not a single person with once a week. And never was. I don't understand these kinds of things. What if the child gets sick? Then classes come out every two weeks.

There is tutoring for a part-time job. There, yes, the amount is about 30,000 rubles, but there is also a salary. Which, in general, is not bad, against the background of colleagues - only teachers.
If tutoring becomes a profession - that is, you work only with private students, then you are loaded to the fullest. You make a schedule, you recruit students. you organize documentation, preparation for classes, somehow fix the achievements of each student and, most importantly, work with a serious big company (like BP) - then you can earn 2-3 times more than the amount you specified.

Ilya Viktorovich, I am personally very sorry that you are not with us, although some of your messages on the forum evoked the most negative emotions.

But I heard from colleagues that everything is fine with your lessons, with earnings ...
If so, I'm very happy.
And please, let go of the situation - stop being angry at BP, stop scolding her, leave this topic alone. If you leave this topic alone, you will be the first to feel better.

Remember, in the end, that it was VR that promoted you as a teacher (like me, like the vast majority of us), gave you the opportunity to enjoy lessons and taught you how to earn money by tutoring.

I wish you success!
And enjoy life, and not be angry at BP.

To be honest, I don’t know what kind of specialist he is, but he is clearly not enough on the forum. I liked many of his posts, although sometimes he went too far, of course. I still don’t know the details - why and how was he removed from the forum? Can someone enlighten me on this?

Good evening. I have been a tutor since 2011. students every day, including summer, from one to 6 people a day. For the last 3.5 years, classes have been with me, since I am two years old, 3 and 1 years old. Classes are held with my children nearby, they play, sometimes I feed them, potty and so on ... I add time to the lesson. I think that I am an expensive tutor, so what I can give for free, I give materials, keep statistics, extra minutes, solve a little in contact with them, soothe the tears of moms and dads, get into relationships between children and parents to solve the problem of ignorance of knowledge collectively like one big organism. And with students, and with schoolchildren so. Zp in the joint 80,000 this year, this is without three months of work, and with them 110,000. Last month I earned 190,000. Every day, work both during the day and in the evening. Today, for example, there were 5 people and my two stayed at home. I don't use babysitting services. Of course, sometimes I think I'm missing my family. But my child in the garden is objectively ahead of his peers, he is very sociable and cultured. I'm already quite an experienced tutor, so I'm not preparing for the lesson. If you have questions, ask. ps: the couple have several tens of thousands of salaries, which I transferred to the pros for their great work.

Well, you are probably a unique rare tutor) I wouldn’t go if there were children nearby and their teacher would feed them .. my students want attention only to them .. if you look at the phone time and make a remark) and then there are children, I don’t know, I’m with a small I could work as a child if my mother is sitting with Rome, she’s only on the road (so that the family does not interfere with the students at home), I’m amazed) here the manicurists write that their advantage / that the children don’t yell, they don’t run around, I don’t know, I personally wouldn’t do it. my opinion / competition is huge.
By the way, the student before me had a tutor in the kitchen, she cooked all the time during the lesson) and they didn’t complain, they studied, although there she gave one book to all the children and drove all the grammar in a row) and the norms rolled

Tutoring can and should be earned. And a very decent income is obtained. The main thing is to be a good specialist and be able to present yourself in order to gain students. I started with an ad on Avito, compiled a detailed resume, posted it, a lot of people began to call, find out, sign up for classes. That's how you've built your audience.

You can make good money. I have 25-30 students, but it’s not easy with them) This number is made up of those who already went last year (more than half), plus tutor sites, plus announcements on poles, plus word of mouth. From experience, adults rarely go longer than a year or two. They reach a decent level and motivation drops. There are a lot of high school students - it's interesting with them, they go, as a rule, because of the exam, so the level is high. I like it when a person already speaks English well, has a decent vocabulary base. With such we polish grammar, vocabulary. But there is a minus - after the 11th grade they enter the university and stop going. Therefore, my favorite group is high school: 5th, 6th, 7th grades. Here you can be sure that the client has come for a long time and during this time you will teach him everything for sure) I also take a junior school, this is work for the future, but it's boring - very simple topics to explain. But when they grow up, they become such clever))

In short, they said right here: at the initial stage, you will receive mere pennies for sweets. Therefore, spin, PR, promote yourself in various ways.

P.S. About more than 100 thousand per month on just one INDIVIDUAL tutoring OUTSIDE Moscow Of course, I neighed sensibly. Complete nonsense)

I am tutoring in Moscow, but I constantly run into a problem. Pupils miss classes because they are sick, invited to visit, go to the theater or to a concert, fly away for 2-3 weeks to warm countries. I suggest that they make up for missed lessons during the holidays and May holidays or pay for missed classes. But it turns out that for the New Year we fly to Egypt, for May to Cyprus, and there is no money left to pay for classes. Last year, I told two such students that I would take them next year only on an advance payment for a month, both mothers agreed. Now I will immediately tell my parents at the first meeting that missed classes need to be worked out or paid, otherwise I see no reason to work as a tutor. Previously, I worked in an education center near my home, I had a salary of 65 thousand rubles, work as a primary school teacher 5 and a half days a week, plus project activities, plus preparation for school. I also received vacation pay for 2 months, paid sick leave and holidays, pension contributions. The head teacher constantly calls me back. I left the Central Organ because I wanted to work more with children and fill out unnecessary paperwork less. But it turns out that they don’t look for good from good. I take 60 min. classes at home 800 rubles, for 90 minutes. 1100 rub. I worked in a private school for 4 years while they paid a good salary there. In a private school, parents paid for 10 months of education, that is, they paid an additional 37 thousand rubles for vacation pay for teachers, and this was considered the norm. But when I tell my parents that they have to pay or work off the missed classes, many make round eyes, although I paid a commission for their classes and everyone sees the result from the classes. How are you doing? Share your experience, please. Thank you.

The Village continues to find out how the personal budget of people of different professions works. In the new issue - a tutor. Teachers look for clients on websites or social networks, or they apply themselves after hearing positive feedback through word of mouth. A flexible schedule allows you to combine tutoring with other work, although in any case, the income will be unstable: in the summer there are significantly fewer students than in the midst of preparing for exams. On average, a private lesson in mathematics, physics or English costs from 900 to 2 thousand rubles. At the same time, not the entire amount is sent to the tutor's wallet: specialized sites with a customer base often charge a commission, part of the money has to be spent on moving between students. A graduate of an economic university from St. Petersburg, who worked as a tutor for three years, spoke about the search for students, sleepless nights and competition with teachers.

How to become a tutor

This year I studied economics at one of the top universities in the country. Prior to that, she graduated from a serious mathematical school in her hometown, participated in Olympiads, devoted a lot of time and effort to mathematics. For the last three years I have been working as a tutor, combining teaching with studying.

I came to St. Petersburg to study, and in my first year there was an acute question of money. At first I worked in the service industry, but the money earned there was barely enough for food and the most modest entertainment a couple of times a month. In addition to the desire to lead a more relaxed lifestyle, money was needed to rent an apartment. The dormitory of my university is located outside the city: the road to the faculty took an average of 2 hours and 15 minutes. Parents helped a little, but the money they sent was only enough for the cheapest apartment in Devyatkino.

The work took a lot of time, problems with studies began. I began to look for a new place: I wanted something more intellectual than the job of a salesman. Most of the vacancies were eliminated due to a schedule that could not be combined with studies, as well as due to the lack of a completed higher education. Then a friend advised me to try teaching. I didn’t really believe that it would be possible to earn money constantly. To get at least some experience, I spent a few classes with my nephew, and then registered on specialized sites. Now I have accounts on five or six such sites, but in fact there are only two working ones. The first one is the most promoted, they take a commission equal to the cost of the first lesson. The second has the largest base of teachers and students, the commission there is twice as large. Many familiar tutors do not like him, but, in my opinion, it is better to overpay for a student and be able to choose with whom to study than to grab any order.

Features of work

Usually I find a request from a client that suits me on the site and respond to it. If the administrator thinks that I fit the order, then he sends me the contacts of the parent (sometimes the child himself), and we agree on the first lesson. After the first lesson, I report to the site about the results and pay a commission. At this stage, the site forgets about me. There are times when the client chooses a tutor himself, which, of course, is nice. Through acquaintances, I rarely find students, perhaps because there are no families with schoolchildren in my environment. The students themselves rarely recommend tutors to each other, even if they are satisfied with everything.

The vast majority of children want to start classes between 4 and 7 pm: by this time they have time to come home from school and have a little rest. Thus, in one evening I manage to cram two one and a half hour classes if the students live close to each other. Some children can only study in the evening, most often they have other activities, such as art school. Usually these children have excellent time management: thanks to them, you can fit not two, but three classes a day.

Some tutors take children at home - you can do more without wasting time and money on the road. For a while I practiced this format, but then I abandoned it. Too many strangers in my own apartment bothered me.

When I was at university, my schedule was pretty hectic. Every April and May - the time of preparation for exams - I generally worked seven days a week, greed spoke in me. Although one interesting feature allowed me to find time for myself and relax a little: children are still lazy and love to cancel classes very much.

A few years ago, it seemed to me that tutors were not needed at all. How surprised I was to learn how much this specialty is in demand! Most often, tutors are hired to prepare for exams or to help improve grades, less often to prepare for olympiads.

It is much more pleasant to prepare for exams, but with pull-ups it is more difficult. Usually, the students are so bad that half a year is the minimum that needs to be spent on restoring knowledge and developing some kind of self-confidence. I have several examples of children with whom I had to deal with for a year and a half before pulling them out to the four. Last year I began to practice free trial classes, but not for the purpose of marketing, but to be able to weed out inadequate clients or too difficult children. The percentage of completely hopeless has become less, but they still remain.

It is difficult for a child to achieve results and get grades, it depends on the mood of the school teacher. Usually, children are simply branded - “C” or “L” - and graded based on this. And the responsibility, although not one hundred percent, must be borne by me. But it is almost impossible to change the opinion of the teacher. During my work, I have accumulated more than ten examples of students who passed the OGE and the Unified State Examination with fours and fives, but whose school grade was between three and two.

I try to communicate with all students as with friends: the age difference between us is not so big - from two to nine years. In my opinion, this is more effective - the guys are pleasant and interesting to work with. Of course, there are also disadvantages: some children feel my weakness and sit on the neck, and this is not always immediately obvious. In addition, I am very worried about their success, sometimes much more than the children themselves. This April, I had a crisis: I could wake up at 4 in the morning from worries about one of my careless students. I even got neurodermatitis, which I had never had before.

I communicate much less with parents of children than with students. Many are generally not interested in what happens to their child and what successes he has. Although there are lovely and caring mothers. A big plus of the work of a tutor is the actual absence of superiors. This role seems to be performed by parents, but there are many of them, and there is always the opportunity not to work with a particular family without losing income.

The saddest part of my work is the realization of how badly the school works. I got the impression that in the vast majority of places teachers have no interest in students at all. The guys say that almost everyone in the class now has tutors. The modern school curriculum implies that the teacher somehow explains, and the child delves into the essence with a tutor. Gaps in children appear already in elementary school: 90% of my students did not know the multiplication table, and I taught mostly high school students. Not being able to add and multiply fractions, open brackets, solve quadratic equations in the 11th grade on the eve of the exam is generally a typical picture. At some point, I stopped being surprised that children count on their fingers. Around the same time, I stopped thinking that I would be left without students. The school seems to be designed so that any graduate of a more or less decent math school can earn money.

I strongly condemned the teachers until I tried to get a job in the school myself. I thought about getting a quarter of the rate: for such employment I was offered 3,750 rubles before deducting personal income tax. With such a salary, it is difficult to do something well, but I have no idea where to get love for children.

Income

Most math classes last an hour and a half. In the beginning, I took about 800 rubles for 90 minutes. Now it is at least 1,200 rubles for the same time, orders for 1,600 rubles are considered profitable.

I never had a shortage of students, even when I was a student. A week could come out and 10, and 15 thousand rubles. Although the income is so unpredictable that it is impossible to name the exact amount that comes out in a month. I keep records of income and expenses in order to somehow control the cash flow. About 480 thousand rubles a year, that is, about 40 thousand a month. In April and May, money just pours out of my pockets, things are much worse in the summer - there are almost no students. The first summer was the most difficult, for the second and third I guessed to borrow from my grandmother. I returned the debt in the fall and now I take into account such features in my accounting. In addition to money from tutoring, my parents and grandmother give me 15 thousand rubles a month.

spending

Money from relatives goes to housing and utility bills. The next item of expenditure is food. I spend 4,000 rubles on groceries, and about 5,000 more on lunches. I don’t understand why it’s so economical, because I constantly snack in catering and choose everything that I like. Maybe I just don't eat much.

Every month I do a manicure, it takes 1.5 thousand rubles. Sometimes I go to a beautician or for a massage. I have complex skin, I need specialized creams. I spend about 800 rubles a month on them and rare purchases of medicines. I can buy something from cosmetics, shoes or clothes and spend 10 thousand rubles at a time. Although then a month or two I do not buy anything.

Due to the busy schedule, I rarely go to have fun somewhere special. I've only been to the bar once in the whole year. I go to visit my cousin, I buy gifts for my nephews. To relax, I go out to a cafe with my girlfriends. Sometimes I go to museums. The entrance fee for students to my favorite Museum of Political History is 30 rubles. Sometimes I go to small theaters like the theater on Vasilyevsky and to the cinema. Most of the money in this article I spend on gifts for family and friends - about 3.5 thousand rubles a month.

For several months this year I visited a psychologist, for a couple of months I had a vocal teacher. Then it took about 4 thousand rubles a month. Now my only constant hobby is sewing, I sometimes spend money on fabrics.

I spend about 4,000 rubles on trips outside St. Petersburg. My young man lives in Moscow: sometimes I can come to him without warning, in this case I buy tickets myself. In the autumn I was with my parents in Tenerife, we paid for my flight in half.

A lot is also spent on urban transport. The BSK travel card costs about a thousand rubles a month, minibuses and taxis - another 4 thousand. I save on a taxi in the first place, if there is such a need.

Washing powders, dishwashing liquid, light bulbs and other daily expenses within the range of 200 rubles I attribute to the “small purchases” section, a thousand rubles come out a month. Previously, about 1.5 thousand rubles were spent on mobile communications, I recently changed the operator and now I pay 600 rubles. Too bad she didn't do it sooner. A separate budget item is new students, I can give from 1 to 3 thousand rubles for an order. I save the rest of the money for the summer.

I have no loans: with such employment it is difficult to get a credit card, and even at a normal percentage. Besides, if there's one thing I've learned from university, it's that you can't take out personal loans for things that won't generate income in the future.

Tutoring services can be provided by individuals subject to certain conditions. Lawyers advise to issue an IP. Formats of earnings on tutoring: remotely and internally. Search for customers on specialized sites and by placing ads.

Many people earn on tutoring: teachers as part-time jobs; private tutors in this way receive the main income; experienced retired subject teachers; even students are not averse to earning extra money as a “teacher at home”.

In the article we tell you how to formalize activities according to the law, how to make money on tutoring, how relevant it is and where to look for clients.

Relevance and market capacity

The HSE Institute of Education provides data (source Rossiyskaya Gazeta) that 24% of all Russian schoolchildren use the services of tutors. In Moscow, the average cost of an academic hour (45 minutes) of classes with a teacher costs 800-1000 rubles. In St. Petersburg - an average of 700 rubles.

Who most often goes to tutors for additional knowledge, see Figure 1.

Figure 1. Why parents hire tutors for children

Source: Rossiyskaya Gazeta, infographic: Moneymaker Factory.

Thus, 36.6% of students go to prepare for the Unified State Examination and the GEO, 32% go to deepen their knowledge, 32% go to fill gaps and improve academic performance, and 17% are not satisfied with the quality of school teaching.

The Superjob Research Center conducted a survey on which subjects are most in demand for tutoring services, and received the following results (see table 1)

* Parents of high school students participated in the survey, the total value is not equal to 100%, since sometimes tutors are hired for one student in several subjects

Legal basis for tutoring

If tutoring is of a non-permanent nature, for example, to pull up a neighbor's fifth-grader in mathematics and receive symbolic gratitude from the boy's parents for this, then there is no question of formalizing the activity.

But if we consider tutoring as a business, that is, the business is put on stream, it brings a constant income, and even more so if it is planned to attract hired employees, then everything should be arranged according to the mind and according to the law so as not to violate legal norms.

The first and most important question that worries tutors who want to formalize their activities in accordance with the letter of the law is whether it is necessary to register an individual entrepreneurship, or is it possible to operate as an individual?

If an individual is engaged in private tutoring, then according to the law, you must independently submit data to the tax office, pay income tax (13%).

However, article 217 p. 70 of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation (TC RF) tutors who personally provide services are exempt from taxation (from paying personal income tax).

This rule was put into effect by Art. 13 of the Federal Law of November 30, 2016 No. 401-FZ “On Amendments to Parts One and Two of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation and Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation”.

But in order not to pay tax, a number of conditions are provided:

  • the norm is effective from January 01, 2017 and applies to income received in the tax periods of 2017-2018;
  • an individual is not an individual entrepreneur;
  • an individual does not involve hired workers;
  • the provision of services is focused on personal, household and other similar needs;
  • an individual is obliged to notify the tax authority of his activities in accordance with clause 7.3 of Art. 83 of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation, that is, to register with the tax office and indicate the scope of activity.

This measure is temporary and is aimed at legalizing self-employed citizens. By the end of 2017, the Ministry of Finance plans to prepare a draft law on the tax regime for self-employed citizens.

According to lawyers, it is very difficult to draw a line between a self-employed individual providing tutoring services and a citizen engaged in illegal business activities.

Therefore, the second, and most correct, according to lawyers, option is the registration of individual entrepreneurship. Optimal taxation systems are the patent system (PSN) or simplified (STS) with a tax rate of 6% of income. Registration as an individual entrepreneur makes it possible to attract employees.

The second question that worries tutors is whether it is required to obtain a license for the services of a private tutor?

Such a business is attractive because the resources for starting it are your own knowledge. Financial investments are also insignificant if you work yourself. Money will be needed to purchase the necessary teaching aids, and even then they are not needed in all cases.

Forms of earnings on tutoring

Figure 2. Classes with a tutor via the Internet

Consider the options for making money on tutoring, they are all divided into two groups:

  1. Remotely (tutoring online)

    This implies such teaching formats as webinars, consultations, lectures via the Internet. Through Skype, Viber, broadcasts on social networks (Facebook, Vkontakte), on YouTube or through special platforms for holding webinars (webinar.ru, My Own Conference, Etutorium). In this case, you will need special equipment: microphone, headphones, webcam.

  2. Face-to-face classes with students

    You can practice on the territory of the client, that is, go to his home. In this case, it is advisable to add the amount of transportation costs to the payment for classes: taxi, private car or public transport. Or at home, when the students arrive at the set time. There is another option: to work under a contract as an incoming tutor at a training center or school of foreign languages, for example. You can also open your own such school.

How to start

Figure 3. School programs and benefits

  1. Decide on the subject and target audience, place and format of classes. For example, 11th graders who are preparing for the exam, and high school students who want to improve their knowledge in the subject. Or elementary school students. The first time - it is better not to spray on all age groups at once. After all, the manner, the style of teaching, the time of classes will depend on who your client is.
  2. On the USE preparation portals or on other thematic portals (depending on the target audience), pass the main tests - check your level of knowledge.
  3. It is better to spend the first classes with acquaintances, relatives or friends in order to hone your skills, understand all the subtleties, you can even do it for free.
  4. Study the offers of other tutors in your region, analyze the pricing policy. Set the price for your services based on the market average. Purchase the necessary teaching aids (school programs, collections of tasks and tests).
  5. Go to customer search.

Where to look for clients

The target audience of a tutor depends on his specialization. For example, if you specialize in physics and mathematics or other subjects of the school curriculum, then your clients will be:

  • schoolchildren who need to improve their knowledge of the subject during the school year;
  • applicants preparing to enter the university;
  • graduates who have to take the exam, etc.

In addition to word of mouth, placing ads online (Avito, My Advertisement, Slando, From Hand to Hand), paper publications (regional publications) and social networks, there are specialized sites.

For example, the service "Your tutor" is your-repetitor.org. The site works as an intermediary between teachers offering their services and clients. There are more than 233 thousand teachers in their database, more than 1 million 600 people have found a tutor for themselves through the site "Your tutor". According to Yandex.Metrica, more than 22,000 visitors a day use this portal, so there are chances to find customers.

Figure 4. Service "Your tutor" - one of the sources of customer search

To search for clients using this portal, you need to register on it. There are four steps to registering:

  1. Fill out a resume in the form on the site.
  2. Read the contract and accept it.
  3. Learn the rules of interaction with the service and answer questions.
  4. Attach copies of documents: confirming identity and qualifications (passport and diploma).

Questionnaires are placed in the service database on the site. Tutors are provided with a personal account, information support, assistance in finding clients. You can provide services in person or remotely (web.your-repetitor.org). For each client, you will have to pay a commission to the service, but only after the student pays the tuition. You only need to pay once per client.

"Your tutor" is not the only service through which you can find clients for a tutor via the Internet. There are also profi.ru, repetit.ru and others. In addition, you can create your own website or Landing page.

In addition to searching on the Internet, clients can be searched in schools, children's clubs and sections, and other institutions. To do this, you will need to agree with the administration on the placement of ads.

Good day everyone!

I had this article in my head for a long time, namely how to make money tutoring online ?

The article has matured and acquired this format, perhaps it will help some of you start your journey in online tutoring? I will be very happy to help you!

It is safe to say that every person who has professional knowledge in his subject can be a tutor.

It is important to understand who a tutor is, how and when he conducts training. Back in tsarist times, there were tutoring in closed educational institutions, cadet and page corps.

The tutors helped the students prepare their homework, repeat and memorize the material they had learned. Not only a teacher, but also a student with good grades could become a tutor. And now?

Currently, tutoring is not only a solid assimilation of knowledge and preparation for exam tests, it is an in-depth study of a particular subject.

The tutor now is a professional in his field, able to teach not only children, adolescents, but also adults. Those who want to learn, for example, a foreign language and so on.

Naturally, the work of a tutor is paid not only in the hourly equivalent, but also depending on the level of knowledge, the goals set for him.

In order to start making money on tutoring, you need to take a few steps:

  • Choose the subject that you know perfectly and have the ability to teach. Most often, tutoring is required in the Russian language, mathematics, physics, and a foreign language. These items are the most in demand. By choosing narrower subjects, it is more difficult to find students, especially in medium and small cities.
  • Select the age category of students who are easier to contact. It can be preschool children, junior schoolchildren, high school students, university students, adults. Each age category requires a special approach to tutoring.
  • Choose the most suitable hours for tutoring both for the student and the tutor. It can be daytime or evening hours, vacation time, holidays or weekends.
  • Clearly define pricing policy taking into account the age of students, teaching methods. It is necessary to provide a system of discounts.
  • Analyze your experience, skills and knowledge in tutoring. If you need to improve something, be sure to set aside time for self-education, obtaining certificates, certificates, additional diplomas.
  • It is advisable to draw up your plan for achieving results in tutoring. It clearly indicates the time and desired achievements for this period.

However, the most important step is to decide on the options for tutoring, the location of the training, methods for finding students.

Tutoring Options

There are only two options for tutoring. Each teacher chooses the most appropriate method:

  • Classes in groups. This variant of tutoring has proven itself in the case when the tutor is tasked with teaching new knowledge to a group of people. Then a group is announced, for example, a certain level of English, classes are held once or twice a week with additional training on an individual basis for a fee.
  • Individual sessions. This variant of tutoring is most effective for narrow purposes: preparation for exams, help in mastering the material covered, and so on.

Group training is more difficult than individual training.

√ First, different levels of perception and assimilation of information in different age categories.

√ Second difficulty in choosing a venue for classes.

There are several ways to conduct classes: at the home of a student or a tutor, in a rented room or remotely, via the Internet.

Tutoring at home

This is the traditional way of conducting private lessons. To study at home with a tutor, you must allocate a separate room or part of it, have at hand all the materials necessary for tutoring.

If the tutor visits the student, then the only negative is the cost of transport, the need to bring the materials necessary for training with him.

The best solution is to search for students living nearby. But in this case, it is necessary to take into account the time spent on the road.

Tutoring in rented space

This case is suitable only when group classes are held and visual aids, posters, computers, boards, and stands are necessarily used for tutoring. In this case, there are no transport costs, but it is necessary to take into account the feasibility of renting a room.

The most cost-effective way to provide services. In this case, there are no costs for transport, rent. The location of the students does not play a role, only the time difference and the presence of a computer are taken into account.

Internet connection with good speed, it is desirable to connect a video camera and microphone. Payment for classes occurs directly on or.

When choosing this method, one should take into account the specifics of the subject, if possible, exclude distractions and prepare more carefully for classes.

Skype tutoring differs from live classes only in that communication with the student takes place remotely.

This is the main difficulty of this method: the inability of the student to fully concentrate on the lesson.

There is sure to be something more interesting than a boring activity. The management of his attention depends entirely on the experience of the teacher.

How to find students for a tutor?

No matter how well you plan everything, but without students there will be no classes. However, students are everywhere and will always be - it is important to remember this.

The main thing is to correctly and competently present yourself, your experience in tutoring and respond flexibly to incoming proposals.

To find students, you can use ads in newspapers, bulletin boards, flyers, and more. This method is most applicable to search for students in your area, city.

But competent online tutoring on the Internet also implies a competent search for students:

  • Create your own on the Internet, which will include information about you and your services, your class schedule, location or time of consultations on the Internet via Skype. In the future, reviews of your students will also be posted on the blog. Here you can also publish articles, news, notes. All this will provide an opportunity not only for you to search for your students, but also for students to find you on the Internet and get to know you in absentia.
  • Connect to the blog system for accepting payments via the Internet. Feedback section is required.
  • Connect the analytical part of the blog. This will help you understand how much your services are in demand and help you quickly and efficiently correct information on the blog.

Online tutoring, it is possible to combine with the traditional method of teaching. But in any case, it is necessary to collect reviews and letters of recommendation.

Engage in self-education and be interested in all the latest in the field of education. For training, to acquire only high-quality visual materials, it is imperative to draw up a lesson plan.

This will help to evenly distribute the workload, including over the Internet.

A variety of online tutoring, which only a few are professionally engaged in, is distance learning for business processes, motivation and planning.

Tutors in this case are coaches who not only teach business, but help and motivate in achieving the goal.

Each option for providing tutoring services is interesting. It is important to choose exactly what is suitable for the subject, methods and methods of teaching.

The Internet, on the other hand, provides great opportunities for high-quality tutoring.

Sincerely, Alexander Gavrin.

For teachers who want to be paid more for their work, tutoring as a business is an interesting option. First you need to find out how to start and how much you can earn in this lesson. But in most cases, capital investments are almost not required, and profit appears from the first months of operation.

And although this direction is not considered a novelty, not all experienced teachers are able to easily organize themselves and move to a new level of earnings on their own. To do this, you can consult with colleagues who have been tutoring for a long time, as well as draw up a competent business plan and move step by step towards your goal. Even beginners should not have any particular difficulties.

Benefits of additional homeschooling

According to the Institute of Education, it has been established that a quarter of schoolchildren in Russia use the services of tutors, and sometimes several at once. For the purpose of preparing for examinations or for the sake of improving knowledge in some area, people want to take the help of additional teachers, in addition to those who teach the subject at school.

Mathematics and English are considered the most popular areas, but other areas of science are also in demand on the market. Therefore, almost every teacher or even a student who wants to make money on this can find application for his knowledge and experience.

Of course, to become a tutor, you need to have certain qualities:

  1. Know your subject well, love it and improve yourself.
  2. To be able to convey a thought to any person, regardless of his age and level of education.
  3. Individual approach to each client.
  4. Responsibility and punctuality - this is the only way to organize work correctly, plan classes correctly, come to them on time and be able to distribute information for the allotted period of the lesson.

You need to be not just a professional, know the theory being presented, but also find a common language with students and their parents. It is important to be able to explain any topic in an accessible and simple way. The speed of formation of the client base will depend on these qualities. After all, thanks to the reputation of a good and talented teacher, you can get many orders without even making special efforts for advertising.

What are the advantages of the idea of private tutoring? Each person can find his own advantages, but the following are considered the most attractive:

  • No big start-up capital required.
  • The payback of the project comes very quickly, high profitability.
  • There are different forms of activity and you have the right to choose the most suitable and convenient for yourself.
  • Thanks to the Internet, you can find customers even outside your hometown or state.
  • The process of organizing a business is quite simple and does not take much time.
  • Having a good reputation in certain circles, you can quickly build a customer base.
  • This activity can be the main one or act as an additional income.
  • High demand for individual items.

Where to begin?

From paperwork and business organization at the legal level. To do this, just contact the tax service and open an IP. You will not be able to hire a large number of teachers, but you will not need a license to operate.

If you are opening a tutoring center together with partners or are going to organize a large complex with many vacancies for teachers, then it is better to immediately register a legal entity (LLC). But in this case, it is necessary to obtain a license for tutoring from the state authorities.

In any case, a simplified taxation system is chosen with the payment of 6% of all income. Be sure to enter the correct OKVED codes:

  1. 10.3 - additional education for children.
  2. 42 - provision of similar services for an adult audience.

But there is another way. From January 1, 2017, it is possible for tutors not to pay taxes if they are not registered as an individual entrepreneur and perform training activities as an individual. But then the possibility of hiring staff is completely excluded, and you can also provide services only for domestic and personal needs, which significantly limits the entrepreneur.

But in this case, you will also have to register with the tax service, that is, inform them about your private activities. And since the line between a self-employed person and an individual entrepreneur is too thin, it’s better to play it safe and register as an individual entrepreneur.

Activity format

Today, there are several ways to make money with tutoring:

  • Through remote learning, for example, via Skype, Viber or other messengers. This also includes webinars, online conferences, etc. All you need is a computer or laptop, headphones, a microphone, and a webcam. This method makes it possible to unite a group from various parts of the world and approach the learning process as creatively as possible.
  • Tutoring at the client's home. At the same time, you must appear at the address on time, and additionally include transport costs (public or private) in the payment. Try to leave early and avoid traffic jams so as not to violate the rules of punctuality.
  • Training at home when clients come by themselves. As a result, the cost of lessons can be reduced. But carefully plan your class schedule so that no one has to wait in the hallway while you finish with the previous student.
  • A separate center or office where people come for individual or group lessons. To do this, it is better to hire several teachers at once and correctly think over the schedule of the lessons. So, there are categories of people for whom it is more convenient to study in the morning, while others, on the contrary, are suitable for evening hours.

Services

First of all, be sure to define your profile. If you are a subject teacher, then, most likely, the choice was made a long time ago. But when looking for staff for a tutoring center, it is advisable to focus on different and most demanded areas. So, today foreign languages (especially English), mathematics and Russian are in the greatest demand.

Since all clients are different and their learning goals are also different, you need to draw up a certain algorithm of actions. Usually full-fledged tutoring centers work as follows:

  1. The first consultation is free of charge. On it, you need to find out the wishes of the student, his level of knowledge and training, determined with the profile, prices, conditions, etc.
  2. If the client wants to enter any university, they provide him with the basic requirements for each specialization, focus on specific exams and draw up an individual work plan.
  3. In the learning process, they must adhere to the chosen methodology and strategy, providing as much as possible all the required information on the subject in accordance with the objectives of the classes. For this, methodological manuals, dictionaries, reference books and other educational literature on the subject are often used.
  4. They try to diversify the forms of classes as much as possible - seminars, lectures, consultations.
  5. Modern computer technologies are also used to speed up learning, facilitate this process, and consolidate skills by modeling individual situations.

Arrangement of the premises

If you are tutoring at home or remotely, then this item is unlikely to interest you. But when they create a center or an office for conducting classes, you need to properly approach this issue.

First, consider a good location. It is desirable that it be somewhere in the central part of the city or not far from educational institutions - schools, institutes. Consider the cost too. Sometimes it is more profitable to rent a ready-made audience at a university or other institution where the payment is low, and you don’t have to purchase additional furniture. Here it is easier to find customers with minimal advertising costs.

Secondly, make repairs if necessary and arrange everything in such a way that the sanitary and epidemiological control and the fire inspection do not make claims against you. Again, a pleasant pattern is observed - in educational institutions all the rooms are already prepared properly and the owner has the necessary permissions from the regulatory authorities.

Thirdly, everything should be purchased for arranging educational and administrative rooms:

  • furniture (desks, tables, chairs);
  • boards;
  • office equipment;
  • computer and educational software;
  • consumables, stationery, small accessories, etc.

It is imperative for students to stock up on a sufficient number of teaching aids, textbooks and other materials that are issued to them for a limited period. In some cases, it is required to conduct a telephone line, the Internet and other means of communication.

Staff and work schedule

It is not necessary to hire someone to make a tutoring business. You can independently cope with the influx of customers and keep all the profits for yourself. But when organizing the center, you will have to use the help of specialists.

To do this, they hire a sufficient number of teachers with a different focus of subjects in order to cover the range of services as widely as possible. Their qualifications, work experience and personal qualities should be checked very closely. The reputation of tutors and their professional skills will largely determine the desire of clients to visit your institution.

To perform administrative and organizational functions, you will have to hire a secretary. An accountant can act as a separate staff unit, or perform work under a contract (outsourcing). Do not forget about the constant maintenance of order - the cleaning lady can also come at certain hours or clean up the classrooms throughout the whole working day.

Don't skimp on wages. Keep in mind that good specialists will be in demand outside the center as well. And with them, most of the customers can leave. Therefore, always try to observe the interests of professionals and adequately pay for their work.

It is important to properly organize the learning process. To do this, make a convenient schedule for students. Consider personal preferences, composition of groups, target audience and other factors. For example, individual lessons are easier to conduct in the afternoon or morning hours. But group - in the evening. The duration of the lesson for children should not exceed 40 minutes, but for adults, you can increase the time to 1-1.5 hours.

The following categories of the population are considered the main clients of tutors:

  1. Students who do not keep up with the program as a whole or have problems with any one subject.
  2. Applicants who wish to enter the university.
  3. Young people after the army who want to continue their education.
  4. Various representatives of professions who had to change the specifics of work or retrain.
  5. Entrepreneurs who lack knowledge in a narrow specialization.

Having decided on who can basically become your customers, it is worth starting from this in the future when building a business (placement, advertising, training methods). So, when targeting children, it is desirable to be located closer to schools and provide a wide range of subjects for the secondary educational system.

If your target audience is adults for the purpose of retraining, then focus on practical skills in certain areas of activity and in foreign languages.

Most often, people learn about tutors, their skills, reputation, focus from such sources as acquaintances, close friends, neighbors, relatives. Word of mouth is the main form of publicity for most good educators.

But if you are going to recruit students for a full-fledged center or complex that provides a wide range of educational programs, then it is worth using mass advertising. To do this, use different strategies:

  • Post announcements in educational institutions.
  • Distribute flyers on crowded streets or in places where your potential customers congregate.
  • Spread information about your activities among all your acquaintances;
  • Print business cards.
  • Create a website or a group in social networks, place ads, use contextual advertising.
  • Use local newspapers and magazines.

This type of business has its own characteristics, and in many cities it is also highly competitive in certain areas. To succeed, you need to follow the unspoken rules:

  1. Consider the individual characteristics of the perception and assimilation of information by each client separately. Make training programs according to personal characteristics.
  2. Pay special attention to the first lesson, in which you need to objectively assess the student's level of preparation, his needs and goals.
  3. Design training programs in a way that is interesting for customers. Connect the creative process, apply modern techniques, captivate children with the game, and additionally motivate adults to achieve the goal.
  4. Give students the opportunity to express their opinion, build a constructive debate.
  5. If for any reason you are unable to win the trust and respect of the client, it is better to refuse to cooperate with him. Remember, a good specialist will always have a job.
  6. Try to make the schedule so that it is convenient for both students and teachers. Consider life situations, work and study processes.
  7. Never save on office equipment, auxiliary materials and manuals.

By building the system properly and approaching organizational issues with all responsibility, you can quickly reach the full payback of the project and receive not only profit from activities, but also pleasure, and also earn the respect of students.

Financial aspects

If you engage in tutoring at home, then you will not need special investments for this. Almost from the very first lessons you will start earning income. But the organization of the center will require large investments.

Most of the investment will be spent on:

  • rental of premises;
  • staff salaries;
  • public utilities;
  • furniture and office equipment;
  • teaching aids and consumables.

According to average indicators, for one lesson with a tutor, students pay from 300 to 800 rubles. But a lot depends on the locality, the chosen subject, the group or individual process, the duration of the lesson, the complexity of the tasks, etc. The third part of the income usually goes to the salaries of specialists. But even with such indicators, the payback of the project comes after a few months of active work.
