The military unit of the armed forces of the USSR in the Great Patriotic War.

Story

Formed on 12/06/1941 by transforming the 31st Dive Bomber Regiment, thus becoming the first part of the bomber aviation to be awarded the Guards rank.

As part of the army from December 6 to May 9, 1945. The regiment was armed with Pe-2 aircraft.

After the transformation, he continued military operations near Tikhvin, supported the advancing troops during the Tikhvin offensive operation. Then, at least until September 1942, he was part of the Air Force of the 7th Army. On September 7, 1942, he was transferred to the Volkhov Front. It is difficult to determine the subordination of the regiment from October 1942 to March 1943. According to the reference book of combat strength (given in the table), the regiment was part of the Air Force of the 7th Army, while other information, both memoirs of veterans and data on awards, indicate that the regiment, since September 1942, operated as part of the 280th bomber aviation divisions.

In September-October 1942, he bombed Sinyavino, Tosno, Lyuban, Workers' settlements No. 1 and 2, the Krugloya grove, the Borodulino airfield, and participated in the defeat of the enemy landing near Sukho Island. On September 21, 1942, the regiment lost five aircraft at once.

Since July 1944, he has been supporting the advancing troops, bombing Priekule, Jaunlatgale, in September 1944 he destroyed the crossings over the Dvina in the Daugavpils region, bombing the port of Ainazi on the eastern shore of the Gulf of Riga. 10/11/1944 the regiment flew to the Cesis airfield, which is 60 kilometers east of Riga [[C:Wikipedia:Articles without sources (country: Lua error: callParserFunction: function "#property" was not found. )]][[C:Wikipedia:Articles without sources (country: Lua error: callParserFunction: function "#property" was not found. )]] .

Participated in the assault on Koenigsberg.

An excerpt characterizing the 4th Guards dive bomber aviation regiment

Anna enthusiastically looked at Sever, as if he was able to give us salvation ... But little by little her gaze began to fade, because from the sad expression of his face she realized: no matter how much he wanted it, for some reason there would be no help.
You want to help us, don't you? Well, tell me, do you want to help, Sever? ..
Anna peered into our eyes in turn, as if wanting to make sure that we understand her correctly. Her pure and honest soul did not fit the understanding that someone could, but did not want to save us from a horrific death...
“Forgive me, Anna... I can't help you,” Sever said sadly.
- But why?!! Don't you regret that we will die?.. Why, Sever?!..
– Because I DON'T KNOW how to help you... I don't know how to destroy Karaffa. I don't have the right "weapon" to get rid of him.
Still not wanting to believe, Anna very insistently continued to ask.
Who knows how to overcome it? Someone must know this! He's not the strongest! Look, even Grandpa Isten is much stronger than him! Indeed, the North?
It was funny to hear how she easily called such a person grandfather ... Anna perceived them as her faithful and kind family. A family in which everyone takes care of each other ... And where for everyone another life is valuable in it. But, unfortunately, they were not exactly such a family ... The Magi had a different, separate and separate life. Anna didn't understand it yet.
“Vladyka knows this, dear. Only he can help you.
“But if that’s the case, then why hasn’t he helped so far?! Mom was already there, right? Why didn't he help?
“Forgive me, Anna, I can’t answer you. I don't know...
At this point, I couldn't keep silent!
“But you explained it to me, Sever! What has changed since then?
Probably me, my friend. I think you changed something in me. Go to Vladyko, Isidora. He is your only hope. Go before it's too late.
I didn't answer him. And what could I say? .. That I do not believe in the help of the White Magus? I do not believe that he will make an exception for us? And that's exactly what was true! And that's why I didn't want to go to him to bow. Perhaps it was selfish to do so, perhaps unwise, but I couldn't help myself. I no longer wanted to ask for help from my father, who had once betrayed his beloved son ... I did not understand him, and did not completely agree with him. After all, he COULD save Radomir. But I didn’t want to ... I would give anything in the world for the opportunity to save my sweet, brave girl. But, unfortunately, I didn’t have such an opportunity... Even if they kept the most precious (KNOWLEDGE), the Magi still had no right to harden their hearts to such an extent as to forget simple philanthropy! To destroy compassion. They turned themselves into cold, soulless "librarians" who sacredly guarded their library. Only now the question was whether they remembered, having closed in their proud silence, FOR WHOM this library was once intended?.. Did they remember that our Great Ancestors left their KNOWLEDGE so that it would help them grandchildren to save our beautiful Earth? For some reason, it always seemed to me that those whom our ancestors called Gods would not allow their best sons and daughters to die just because the “right” time was not yet on the threshold! For if the blacks slaughter all the enlightened ones, then there will be no one else to understand even the best library...
Anna carefully watched me, apparently hearing my sad thoughts, and in her kind radiant eyes there was an adult, stern understanding.
“We won’t go to him, Mommy. We’ll try it ourselves,” my brave girl said with a gentle smile. We still have some time left, don't we?
Sever looked at Anna in surprise, but, seeing her determination, did not utter a word.
And Anna was already admiringly looking around, only now noticing what wealth surrounded her in this marvelous treasury of Caraffa.
– Oh, what is it?! Is this really the Pope's library? .. And you could come here often, mommy?
- No, my dear. Just a few times. I wanted to learn about wonderful people, and for some reason Papa allowed me to do so.
Do you mean Qatar? Anna asked calmly. They knew a lot, didn't they? And yet they failed to survive. The earth has always been very cruel ... Why is that, mother?
– It is not the Earth that is cruel, my sun. These are people. And how do you know about Qatar? I never taught you about them, did I?
"Pink" embarrassment immediately flashed on Anna's pale cheeks...
- Oh, please forgive me! I just “heard” what you were talking about, and I became very interested! So I listened. Excuse me, because there was nothing personal in it, so I decided that you would not be offended ...
- Yes, of course! But why do you need such pain? After all, we have enough of what the Pope presents, right?
“I want to be strong, Mom!” I want not to be afraid of him, just as the Cathars were not afraid of their killers. I want you not to be ashamed of me! – proudly tossing her head, Anna said.
Every day I was more and more surprised at the fortitude of my young daughter! .. Where did she have so much courage to resist Karaffa himself? .. What moved her proud, warm heart?
- Do you want to see anything else? Sever asked softly. "Wouldn't it be better to leave the two of you for a while?"
– Oh, please, Sever, tell us more about Magdalena!.. And tell us how Radomir died? – Enthusiastically asked Anna. And then, recollecting herself, she turned to me: - You don’t mind, mom? ..
Of course, I didn't mind!.. On the contrary, I was ready to do anything to distract her from thoughts about our near future.
– Please, tell us, Sever! It will help us cope and give us strength. Tell me what you know my friend...
The North nodded, and we again found ourselves in someone else's, unfamiliar life... In something lived long ago and abandoned in the past.
A quiet spring evening was fragrant with southern scents before us. Somewhere in the distance, the last glare of the fading sunset was still blazing, although the sun, tired of the day, had long since set to have time to rest until tomorrow, when it would again return to its daily circular journey. In the rapidly darkening, velvet sky, unusually huge stars flared up brighter and brighter. The surrounding world was sedately preparing itself for sleep... Only sometimes somewhere the offended cry of a lonely bird could be heard, which could not find peace in any way. Or from time to time a sleepy bark disturbed the silence by the call of local dogs, thus showing their vigilant vigil. But the rest of the night seemed frozen, gentle and calm ...
And only two people were still sitting in the garden, enclosed by a high clay wall. They were Jesus Radomir and his wife Mary Magdalene...
They saw off their last night... before the crucifixion.
Clinging to her husband, laying her tired head on his chest, Maria was silent. She wanted to tell him so much more!.. To say so many important things while there was still time! But I couldn't find the words. All the words have already been said. And they all seemed pointless. Not worth those last precious moments... No matter how hard she tried to persuade Radomir to leave a foreign land, he did not agree. And it was so inhumanly painful!.. The world remained as calm and protected, but she knew that it would not be the same when Radomir left... Without him, everything would be empty and frozen...
She asked him to think... She asked him to return to his distant Northern country, or at least to the Valley of Magicians, in order to start all over again.
She knew that wonderful people were waiting for them in the Valley of Magicians. All of them were gifted. There they could build a new and bright world, as Magus John assured her. But Radomir didn't want to... He didn't agree. He wanted to sacrifice himself so that the blind could see... This was exactly the task that the Father had placed on his strong shoulders. The White Magus... And Radomir did not want to back down... He wanted to gain understanding... from the Jews. Even at the cost of his own life.
None of the nine friends, loyal knights of his Spiritual Temple, supported him. No one wanted to give him into the hands of the executioners. They didn't want to lose him. They loved him too much...
But then the day came when, obeying the iron will of Radomir, his friends and his wife (against their will) vowed not to get involved in what was happening ... Not to try to save him, no matter what happened. Radomir fervently hoped that, seeing the obvious possibility of his death, people would finally understand, see clearly and want to save him themselves, despite the differences in their faith, despite the lack of understanding.
But Magdalene knew that this would not happen. She knew this evening would be their last.
My heart was torn to pieces, hearing his even breathing, feeling the warmth of his hands, seeing his concentrated face, not clouded by the slightest doubt. He was sure he was right. And she could not help it, no matter how much she loved him, no matter how fiercely she tried to convince him that those for whom he went to certain death were unworthy of him.
“Promise me, my fair one, if they still destroy me, you will go Home,” Radomir suddenly demanded very insistently. “You will be safe there. There you can teach. The Knights of the Temple will come with you, they swore to me. You will take Vesta with you, you will be together. And I will come to you, you know it. Do you know?
And then Magdalene finally broke through... She couldn't take it anymore... Yes, she was the strongest Mage. But at this terrible moment, she was just a fragile, loving woman, losing the dearest person in the world ...

DIRECTORY

Guards units and formations of Soviet aviation 1941-1945.

Boris RYCHILO Miroslav MOROZOV

By order of the People's Commissar of Defense of the USSR dated December 12, 1941, the first six aviation regiments, which distinguished themselves mainly in defensive battles on the outskirts of Moscow and Leningrad, received the title of "Guards". The outstanding contribution of the guard formations to the cause of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the enormous mobilizing significance and status of the title of “guardsman” in wartime and peacetime are so significant that they invariably attract the attention of anyone who is involved in the history of Soviet aviation. Nevertheless, it cannot be said that so far this topic has received any complete and systematized coverage in the military history literature. Moreover, it is not uncommon to encounter the fact that the authors of articles, books, including memoirs, for various reasons, incorrectly or ambiguously indicate the short and full names of the guards units and formations, which makes it difficult for the reader to understand the real picture of the events described. . In preparing this material, the authors did not set themselves any other goal than creating a systematic list that would make it possible to determine which aviation units and formations and from what time carried the rank of guards.

On the basis of orders of the NPO of the USSR No. 308 of 09/18/1941 and the Naval NK of the Navy No. 10 of 01/18/1942, special guards banners were awarded to units and formations converted into guards, and increased salaries were established for their personnel: for commanding staff - one and a half, for the ordinary - double.

From the very beginning, the obligatory provision of orders for the assignment of the guards rank was the transfer of regiments to a new state as part of 3 squadrons and full staffing and aircraft. In addition, the Order of the NPO of the USSR No. 207 of 05/04/1943 provided for the mandatory assignment of personnel of the guards units in the field, their transfer to other units and formations only with the permission of the commander of the Air Force of the spacecraft, the introduction of one reserve squadron into the staff of the regiments "to ensure the training of worthy replenishment" . Guards banners for corps and armies were approved by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of 06/11/1943, announced by the order of the NPO of the USSR No. 232 of 06/16/1943. Guards military ranks and the badge "Guards" were introduced by order of the NPO of the USSR dated 05/28/1942.

Apparently, there were no strict criteria by which the guards rank was awarded. What was the result of the presentation to this title, depended not only on an objective assessment of the merits of one or another part, but also on subjective factors, as well as on the "order". So, the 2nd Iap was presented for the rank as early as the beginning of 1942, but became the guards 85th IAP only in March 1943. three to four weeks of hostilities against Japan replenished the Guards family with several air regiments of the Pacific Fleet Air Force. There were precedents (in long-range aviation - ADC) when units and formations were immediately formed by guards (deployed from guards]. Omissions in the numbering of guard units also indicate that in a number of cases already prepared orders were not signed. However, this does not detract combat merit of the personnel of either one or the other units.

In total, by September 1945, there were 15 separate guards air squadrons, 247 guards air regiments, 53 guards air divisions, 14 guards air corps. The Guards Air Armies (unlike the armies of the ground forces) did not appear.

The list, compiled mainly on the basis of orders and directives of the Headquarters of the Supreme High Command, the NPO of the USSR, the People's Commissariat of the Navy of the USSR, the General Staff, the Glavupaform of the Red Army and the heads of the military branches on the transformation of associations, formations, units and ships into guards and on the formation of guards units, formations and associations presents in a concise form the basic information about the transformation, formation of units and formations into guards and their renaming in the period from December 1941 to September 1945. It should be noted that these documents do not provide answers to all the questions that arose in the course of work.

For ease of reference, the list is presented in numerical order, separated by regiments, divisions, corps and individual squadrons. For the purpose of some unification (since various options are often found), forms of short names are used, which make it possible to uniquely identify guard units and formations. Their decoding should not be difficult, since full names are also indicated at the same time. The names of documents are also given, in accordance with which they were converted or were renamed, as well as a list of authentically established types of aircraft that were in service with the guards units until the end of the war.Indications contained in a number of documents that a unit or formation belonged to the air defense have been preserved.

In the given full names of units and formations, the order introduced by the Directive of the USSR NCO No. Org / 2/2143n / s of 12/27/1943 is used, in accordance with which the serial number of the unit or formation is first called; designation "separate"; an indication of the guards rank; belonging to the type of aviation; honorary titles; government awards in accordance with their status, starting with the highest (the degree of the order was not indicated); aviation (th) squadron, regiment, division, corps, given name (for example, “named after M. Raskova”). Subsequently, this order has changed several times.

Initially, the numbering of the guards units was the same for all aviation branches of the KA Air Force, i.e. each serial number was assigned once, and there were no bomber, assault, or fighter guard regiments with matching numbers.

Its sequential numbering of guard units from 1 to 14 was observed in the aviation of the Navy. During the war with Japan, eight units of the Pacific Fleet Air Force became Guards at once. Moreover, judging by the text of the relevant orders of the People's Commissar of the Navy, they retained their previous numbers (except for the 6th IAP of the Pacific Fleet Air Force). However, there is information requiring documentary confirmation that the sequential numbering was continued, and the 15th Guards Shap, 16th Guards Shap, 17th Guards Pbap, 18th Guards Rap, 19th Guards Mtap, The 20th Guards IAP and the 22nd IAP of the Pacific Fleet Air Force were converted from the 37th Cap, 26th Cap, 34th PBAP, 50th Odrap, 52nd Mtap, 19th IAP, 61st IAP and 6th IAP Air Force Pacific Fleet, respectively.

Long-range aviation was separated from the Air Force on March 5, 1942, in August 1942 its first regiments received the rank of guards, as a result of which one guards regiment from the 1st to the 14th was in the KA Air Force, the Navy Air Force and the ADC, and from 15 to 35 - one guards regiment of the Air Force of the Space Agency and the ADC.

Starting from 36, only one regiment from the Air Force of the KA, ADC or Civil Air Fleet received each number. Repetitions of numbers are noted only in cases where the former numbers are retained by units of the Navy Air Force. In the general sequence, nos. 121,157,158,169-172, 182-186,192,194-206,214-219 are omitted, apparently for the reasons already noted above. Some numbers in the interval from 220 to 251 received only the renamed long-range regiments. Many of the missed numbers were used in the post-war period when renaming or reorganizing guard units.

In December 1944, the ADC was transformed into the 18th VA, and its air regiments were renamed bomber regiments in order to eliminate double numbering, which made significant changes to the numbering of the guards units. All the guards regiments of the former ADC, whose numbers did not match the numbers of the bap and nbap of the KA Air Force, retained their numbers. In case of coincidence, they received new numbers, and the order of their choice was simple: the first of the 4th Guards Ap dd to be changed became the 220 Guards Bap, and all subsequent regiment numbers were determined from the expression: “new number” of the regiment \u003d (220-4) + "former number" of the regiment. In the reference book, for convenience, a note (dd) was added to the short names of the bomber units and formations transferred from the ADC to the 18th Air Force of the KA Air Force, although in reality it was not in the names.

After the Great Patriotic War, no new transformations into guard units and formations were carried out, however, there were cases of transferring the rank to other units in order to preserve military traditions, as well as changing the numbers of units and formations. A significant number of guards units and formations were disbanded in the first post-war years, the second wave of cuts took place in the late 50s and early 60s. Finally, during the reduction of the Armed Forces in the late 80s and with the collapse of the USSR, many found themselves outside Russian territory or were disbanded.

As of mid-2002, a total of 20 guards units and formations remained in the ranks of Russian aviation.
