What to do when after vacation. Depression after vacation: how to go to work? Illness is a defensive reaction

If, at the thought of the first working days, you begin to feel sick, and your hands are persistently reaching out for an application for a second vacation or, God forbid, about leaving, then you have nothing more than a post-holiday syndrome or, in other words, post-holiday depression. This is due to the fact that on vacation people live in a different rhythm. On the one hand, we relax, which has a beneficial effect on the body, on the other hand, upon returning from vacation, we have to adjust to a faster pace of life, get up earlier and have more time. During a vacation, a person releases a large number of endorphins, the “happiness” hormones responsible for good spirits and good mood. A person's heart rate, breathing changes, the brain and heart work differently. It takes time for the body to completely rebuild, on average - 7 days. And vacations often last no longer than the two weeks common today, and a person does not have time to prepare his body, exhausted by lying on the beach, for a working rhythm.

How long is the vacation?

True, opinions on how long the vacation lasts differ. Some people think that a vacation of no more than two weeks is good. This is especially true for people in dynamic professions - journalists, managers, executives. To make decisions, you need to constantly be aware of daily events. Therefore, in 14 days you can not only relax, but also not “break out” of business life. Others believe that in order to really fully relax, you need to go on vacation for at least 3 weeks in order to slowly enjoy the delights of vacation life.

Which vacation do you prefer?

So that the vacation does not turn into disappointment, you need to think in advance what you need for a good vacation. One of the fundamental mistakes is "someone else's" rest. It can be a choice imposed by family, friends, environment, advertising. Think carefully about where and how you would like to relax, so as not to regret the next six months, or even a year, about the time spent aimlessly. Many people try to fit in one or two weeks of the long-awaited vacation all the things that have accumulated over the year, two, and sometimes the whole life. Communication with children, repairs in an apartment, building a country house, reading some books, a trip to relatives, medical examinations - the list is endless. By planning a lot of things that are unrealistic to do during this time, we doom ourselves to a feeling of dissatisfaction. Therefore, it is better to choose one thing or solve problems sequentially. However, in this case, it is not always possible to have a good rest. After all, vacation is no less serious than work, so you need to carefully prepare for it. Many people think that during the holidays it is necessary to switch off completely, otherwise a good rest will not work. And as a result, they feel almost guilty when they think about work during the holidays. In such a situation, you can make a compromise: set aside a few hours every day exclusively for work. As a rule, 1-2 hours are enough to rest the rest of the day with a sense of accomplishment and not think about business. But for many leaders, even such planning is not enough. And even having organized business processes, they still cannot completely forget about business and relax. These are the kind of people who like extreme sports. They are completely immersed in other activities, and for them such tension is a real vacation.

4 types of workers - get to know yourself!

Psychologists are of the opinion that the attitude to vacation directly depends on how you feel about your work. Someone is waiting for a legal vacation, counting the remaining days, and longs for it to last forever. And for someone (there are some) a vacation is a break in your favorite work, from which you don’t want to break away! All of us in relation to work can be conditionally divided into 4 categories:

  • Work is evil. Such people, alas, are difficult to envy. For them, every working day is a punishment. Waking up, they present their work exclusively in black. They are not satisfied with either the team or the boss. The amount of work that they do every day seems overwhelming, and the tasks are almost impossible. Vacation for them is an outlet. But to return to work, such people require simply supernatural efforts. After all, you will have to suffer again day after day, waiting for the longed-for vacation. In the pre-holiday period, they can no longer think about anything but rest. Everything falls out of hand. If you are “lucky” to fall into this category of workers, we highly recommend contacting recruitment specialists, psychologists who, having tested you and your professional needs, will help you find a job you like.
  • People with this attitude to work believe that it exists only to make money. "It must be so" - that's their motto. They are distinguished by a rational approach to the last days before the holidays, trying to redo a lot of things. After all, whatever you say, but the vacation is not eternal and after a couple of weeks you will again have to “harness yourself” to work.
  • Work is like a sport. Such people are prone to excitement and competition. They regard work as a rapid climb up the career ladder. A vacation is only a temporary break in your achievement of professional goals. Like the previous category, they rationally approach the last pre-holiday days: everything must be done, delegated, sorted out. As a rule, they have a structured approach to work, friendship with "time management" - the science of time management. Otherwise, the first place will go to someone else, and this is not in their interests.
  • Work as self-realization, self-expression. If you fall into this category, then consider yourself very lucky. Your daily commute makes sense. Every day you discover something new for yourself, learn, acquire skills, make further plans. Even on vacation, think about what you can do when you go to work. You are unlikely to be touched by the post-holiday syndrome. Unless the change in climatic conditions upon return will force several days to enter into a working rhythm. True, this category of workers has its drawbacks. Such people are not always distinguished by composure. Already sitting on the train heading south, they can remember the pile of unfinished business that was left at home. Often it is difficult for them to switch off completely, thoughts about improving projects constantly arise in their heads. We would encourage them to bring a healthy dose of rationalism into their approach to work - and especially in the last days before the holidays. Focus on current affairs and put aside what can wait. And on vacation, try to escape from thoughts about work and get the most out of your vacation.

Time after vacation - search for reasons

If before the vacation you preferred to put up with an unloved job, then the post-holiday days will clearly demonstrate what it does not suit you. Maybe there is too much routine in it, and it is worth diversifying your duties? Or is the bar you set for yourself in achieving the next professional milestone too high? Or maybe there is too much communication in your work, business meetings, the burden of responsibility is heavy, and it is worth changing it to an activity with a calmer rhythm?

Psychologists say that going to an unloved job is as unhealthy as living with an unloved person. We spend two thirds of the day at work. Every morning, waking up, we think about what our day will be filled with - dreary working off the prescribed hours or joyful achievements? And it depends only on ourselves what kind of work we choose. And returning from vacation, like a litmus test, helps to see what we have been hiding from ourselves so carefully. One way or another, but the first days in the workplace should be devoted to finding the reasons why work causes persistent hostility. You should not immediately rush to the embrasure and try to quickly redo everything that has accumulated in your absence. You do not want to earn yourself another sore or long-term depression? Spend your first working days looking at new horizons and perspectives.

The period of adaptation to work

To make the adaptation period to work painless, we recommend a few simple ways:

  1. Return home a few days before work starts. In two or three days, you will have time to unpack your bags, adapt to the weather, come face to face with the rhythms of the city and get used to the idea that you have to go to work.
  2. Structure your first working days by focusing on solving major problems. Minor matters, like dust on the windowsill, can be “removed” a little later. This approach will allow you not to drown when clearing debris and calmly tune in to work.
  3. It is very important not to rush to make important responsible decisions without having time to fully get into the know.
  4. Do not forget about the magical effect of vitamins and proven antidepressants: chocolate, green onions and sage tincture, as well as sun and salt baths, and morning exercises. It is better for women to replace chocolate with shopping - shopping trips will also help to escape from everyday life, but the waist size will not increase.
  5. Don't give in to post-vacation fever! The desire to redo a bunch of things for the last couple of days before going to work will not bring to good. The brought photos and gifts for friends and relatives, the apartment not cleaned to a shine, unwashed and unironed linen will wait another week ... You will have time to do all these things after. You should not poison your last days with worries that will not go away from you anyway.
  6. Don't think too badly of yourself if you feel like you've become a little silly during your vacation. German scientists, for example, have found that a person who spends a couple of weeks on the beach has an IQ that drops by 20 points. Upon your return, your IQ will quickly recover - this is a matter of a few days.

And do not forget that spending a vacation is a creative and completely individual process. And only you can decide how to spend it, so that it would not be excruciatingly painful for the wasted vacation days.

See the article “Unloved work. What prevents us from working with pleasure?”, No. 5, 2006.

So, you go to work after a few weeks of pleasant idleness or outdoor activities in your city, or you return from a trip. Slowly cope with fatigue from a long road and win after the flight, and the next day you have to work. Will it be hard? The first time, for sure.

But there is a chance to ease your addiction to workdays. Here are four tips from famous blogger Leo Babouta to help you motivate yourself after the holidays and get back to work faster.

Get some rest

It would seem that you rested for a whole month (or less), now you should get involved in work and “move mountains” with fresh forces.

But after all, you can relax in different ways: wallow all day on the beach or walk the whole city on foot, climb a mountain or go on a long hike with heavy backpacks. You can relax mentally, completely get rid of stress and at the same time get tired physically. Yes, and acclimatization can torment you for the first few days.

The first week after your vacation, take care of your energy and try to rest as much as possible.

Give priority to sleep and quiet activities, and as soon as you feel a surge of energy, you can closely engage in household chores or sports.

Find a purpose

If you can't work, then you don't have enough motivation to do it. Find some goal, and the work will go much more fun.

It can be a personal goal or helping other people. After all, we all love to help. Even the most selfish of us find it enjoyable.

Try to help someone, it will become a great one that will rock you.

Start the mechanism

Very often, after a vacation, you see mountains of work in front of you, and this is scary. And when you're scared, you don't feel like doing anything.

Start small - start the process of work, and then everything will go according to the knurled.

Set yourself a small non-scary task like “write a short article” or “deal with the mess on your desktop” and complete it.

Ask someone to control you

If no one controls your work, it's even harder to force yourself to do something. You may well ask your friends or relatives to follow you.

Send them to-do lists for each day, and show them what you've done on Friday. It will be unpleasant for you to disappoint loved ones, and you are more likely to do everything you have planned. And the fact itself will help you do more.

And not only vacation

Lack of motivation can happen not only after a vacation, but also after long holidays (like New Year's) or just like that - because you are tired and exhausted.

In any of these cases, you can try four ways to return to active work:

  1. Get more rest and relaxation.
  2. Find a goal to strive for.
  3. Start small - complete a small task, then another, and so on.
  4. Ask someone to supervise you.

How do you deal with apathy and unwillingness to work?

Yesterday you were enjoying your freedom to the fullest, warming your belly on the beach, splashing in the pool and not knowing any worries at all, and today you are already gathering dust in a stuffy office, looking at the sad faces of your colleagues and the mountain of accumulated work that you don’t seem to have time to complete until next vacation. Of course, this is a huge stress for the body. Uncle psychologists even came up with a term that characterizes this condition - post holiday syndrome. This disease affects about 40% workers returning from vacation. Let's take a closer look at what kind of animal this is - "post holiday syndrome", and with what it is eaten.

Statistics tell us that 80-85% resignation letters are written by employees who have just returned from vacation. This is due to the fact that after giving yourself a break in the form of a vacation, and then returning to work rested, it is easy to look at your work from the outside, analyze how much it is dear to you and how much it satisfies you. I would not recommend writing an application in the first week after the vacation. The fact is that against the backdrop of post-holiday depression, it may seem to you that your work does not suit you at all, but this the feeling can be deceiving. Therefore, postpone this decision until at least next week, and if the intention to leave this job does not disappear, then it is really worth writing a statement.

Causes of post-holiday depression

The reason for this disease is that during the holidays the body adjusts to a new schedule. Everything changes biological and psychological rhythms, emotional background, diet and sleep, changes in the amount of mental and physical stress. And if you are relaxing in a different climate and in a different time zone, then you can add to all this also acclimatization. When you go to work, your body has to adjust back to a tight schedule. This takes some time (usually 2-5 days). At this time, your body and spirit, as it were, protest against the fact that you arrange such stress for yourself. Hence, physical and psychological ailments arise, the name of which is - post holiday syndrome.

If you are using alcohol, then it is quite possible that on vacation you will often abuse it, which is also will negatively affect the body when going to work.

Symptoms

Post-holiday syndrome is accompanied a lot of bad feelings, the most common of which are:

  • Irritability
  • Fatigue
  • lethargy
  • Lack of self-esteem
  • irascibility
  • Headache
  • Pressure surges
  • insomnia

A person can even get sick with some ORZ- the body may well react in such a way as to extend its vacation.

Risk group

can strike any worker, but there are some categories of citizens who are more at risk of experiencing all the delights of this syndrome for themselves.

Dissatisfied with their work. If work does not bring any pleasure, and a person has to force himself to go to work just for the sake of money, then after a few weeks full of positive emotions and vivid impressions, returning to an unloved job will be a very difficult test.

Mentally unbalanced people. A sharp change in the rhythm of life, first of all, unbalances people who are prone to rash and impulsive actions.

Men. As a rule, it is more difficult for men to get involved in work than for women. This is due to the fact that women have a more flexible psyche and they often go to work with pleasure, looking forward to how they will tell colleagues about their wonderful vacation and about the travels and adventures that took place on this vacation.

People who take long holidays. The clearest example is teachers. The longer the vacation lasts, the longer it will take to get into the working rhythm.

People aged 40-45 years. At this time, many are experiencing the so-called middle age crisis. A person is overcome by thoughts about his own destiny, he tries to analyze the years he has lived and the mistakes made in his life. On vacation, he may well indulge in these philosophical reflections, but at work this may cause problems. Therefore, at this age, the return from heavenly pleasure to the harsh truth of life is especially painful.

So if you a mentally unstable man in his early 40s who works as a teacher and hates his job- I have bad news for you 🙁

But don't despair, friend! I have prepared some recommendations for you how to return to work after vacation if not with pleasure, then at least by minimizing discomfort, depression and stress.

How to return to work after vacation

Get out of vacation in the middle of the week. Try to plan your vacation so that the first day of work falls on middle of the week, not at its beginning. Otherwise, the first working week may seem unbearably endless to you.

Come back from vacation 2-3 days before going to work. During this time, you can slowly cool down from impressions, get involved in the urban rhythm, adapt to the weather and mentally tune in to the working mood.

Do not spoil the last days of vacation with household chores. After returning home from vacation, many try to redo the accumulated household chores in the last days of the vacation, thereby poisoning themselves these days. Women are especially guilty of this. No, I don’t call on the last days of vacation to wallow in a vegetable on the couch, but excessive activity is useless. Try to find some balance. A little cleaning will be more than enough. You can deal with the rest of the things later.

Think positively about work. Remember why you love your job. Replay in your head some positive things about your job and your co-workers. Imagine how when you go to work, you will be share impressions with colleagues, show photos and videos from the rest, Maybe, give someone brought souvenirs. This positive attitude will help you enter the working channel easily, naturally and with pleasure.

Get enough sleep. Get enough sleep to alleviate post-vacation syndrome. Try to sleep at least 8 hours a day.

Plan your working hours. During your vacation, a lot of work must have accumulated. There is no need to panic and take on everything at once. Better plan your working hours. Deal with the main things first, and do the minor things later. And don't forget to get distracted every hour, especially if you have a sedentary job.

Postpone important decisions. Try to postpone all responsible and important decisions until the time when you get involved in work.

Try to spend the first working days "relaxed". Do not overload yourself in the early days. Do a little cleaning, clean up your desk, check your email. No labor feats in the first days! You don't have to stay at work. If possible, try to leave early. And on your first weekend, try to have a good rest.

Don't worry if thought processes are difficult. A person who has been in the sun for several weeks IQ declining points on 20 . This discovery was made by German scientists. So, if you feel like you're a little silly after your vacation, don't worry about it. In a few days IQ will recover.

Pamper your body with endorphins. Include some in your diet bitter chocolate and more vegetables and fruits. Better take fruit oranges and bananas. These foods will saturate your body endorphins which will make you feel a little happier. Don't forget also about morning exercises and walks in the open air. Drink more clean water. From other drinks, pay attention to green tea and mineral water. But from strong tea and coffee better to refuse.

No major changes during this period. If you have decided to change something globally in your life, the first week after your vacation is not the best time. After all, such changes require a lot of energy and, accordingly, can negate the positive effect received from rest. But if your hands are itching to change something in your life, start with the little things, and when you get involved in the working rhythm, then you can think about global changes.

Analyze your condition

Severe post-vacation syndrome is a sure sign that you are out of place. For people who work, as they say, "in place" post-holiday syndrome goes away either mildly, or they are not at all familiar with this condition.

Personal experience

Personally, the last days of my vacation are the hardest for me, and when I go to work, I quickly get involved. But in the last days of vacation, the mood is always at zero.

As for the duration of the vacation, I I like to go on vacation for a whole month. A few years ago I worked at an enterprise where I was provided with additional 14 days holidays. I took a vacation there once a year, all at once - on 42 calendar days. I don't like to go on vacation 2 weeks- the subconscious mind does not perceive this as a vacation 🙂 Moreover, in order to rebuild from a working rhythm to a vacation one, it also takes time - 3-4 days. And the last 3-4 days I'm starting to think about work. So that leaves only a full week of vacation. Whether it's a vacation 4 weeks! 🙂

Conclusion

Cutting transition from a relaxed state, which lacks discipline and obligations, and there are joy and pleasure, in a state of strict discipline perceived by the body as the strongest stress. The human psyche perceives the end of a vacation as a huge loss. The stress of such a sharp restriction of freedom can only be compared with parting with a loved one.

Have a smooth transition from vacation to workdays! And let your work bring you as many positive emotions as possible! Then no post-holiday syndrome threatens you!

The end of the holiday season is coming. Rested and recharged with vital energy in resorts and dachas, Russians go to work. However, as the doctors noted, instead of performing labor feats with tripled energy, many people begin to mope. They act up, pretend to be sick and even become depressed. Psychologists in such cases make a diagnosis - post-holiday syndrome. Doctors advise treating him with sunbathing, morning exercises and chocolate.
Vacation depression can hit anyone. And although employers consider the blues of their employees a whim, for many companies the post-holiday syndrome causes very real damage. Former vacationers become absent-minded, unable to bring themselves to perform routine tasks. Workdays are seen by him in gray, and the work he loved before becomes an unbearable burden. Particularly sensitive natures or people who tend to make quick decisions even begin to look at job advertisements.
Holiday "recidivists"
Many again go on vacation, as in a binge - prolonging and prolonging pleasure. This is confirmed, by the way, by Russian tour operators. They admit that they are often approached by vacationers who just returned from a trip a week ago. “We had a case when clients came to us three days after their return from vacation,” the tour operator of the 1st Moscow travel agency told NI. - Basically, young people under 35 decide to make a second trip, most of them are single women, about 70% of them. By profession, these are most often secretaries, managers with an income of 600-700 dollars, who choose inexpensive tours to visa-free countries - to Turkey, to Cyprus. And in the travel agency "TourExpress" "NI" was informed that not only middle managers, but also the management team, directors of enterprises, are extending their vacation.
Illness is a defensive reaction
There was no post-holiday syndrome in the Soviet Union, because people did not work with such intensity as they do now, says Natalya Panfilova, specialist at the Integration International Center for Practical Psychology. “The length of the vacation is crucial,” said Ms. Panfilova. - That is, the longer the vacation, the more difficult it is to fit into your work schedule later. Now many people prefer to go on vacation for a week or two. But some groups, like teachers, have long vacations. It is really difficult for them to join the work. Vacation is a different mode of life. People live at a different pace. On the one hand, it is good for the body. But when a person returns to work, he has to get up earlier, to do more.”
The appearance of the post-holiday syndrome is also influenced by the attitude of a person to his work. Doctors say that depression after the holidays is much brighter in those who are not enthusiastic about their work. Work for them is either too routine or too responsible. It is difficult for those who do not change the scope of their activities, who sit in one place for too long, to get involved in the working mode. “Often, after leaving a vacation, a person can even get sick,” says Natalia Panfilova. - This is such a protective reaction of the body, a classic psychological trick - to extend your vacation. The disease allows you to make the transition into the surrounding reality softer. And although a person still returns to household chores - frying pans, pliers, but he will not go to work. Vacationers usually attribute their sickness to acclimatization. But all this is about one thing - a person cannot quickly switch from one rhythm of life to another.
Children also suffer
The feelings that an adult experiences during post-holiday syndrome are similar to those experienced by children when returning to school from vacation. “I still shudder when I remember school and the first of September,” says Boris Novoderzhkin, a well-known metropolitan psychologist and psychotherapist. “My parents said on the first of September: Children, get ready for school, the cockerel has already sung! This is one of the most terrible memories.” But children get used to the inevitable school routine faster than adults.
However, psychologists believe that adult men and women perceive the transition from vacation to work differently. Women find it easier to change rhythm. Their psyche is more flexible, they are happy to go to offices to tell friends and colleagues about their journey.
Post-holiday syndrome is experienced by both workaholics and lazy people. The second, of course, is harder to return to work. But on the other hand, workaholics do not know how or cannot relax during the holidays and, as a rule, go to work unrested. And the accumulated fatigue will not allow them to effectively cope with tasks.
Sun, chocolate and shopping
During the post-holiday syndrome, a person tends to exaggerate negative factors. His assessment of the surrounding reality is false. Therefore, psychologists still recommend taking measures to relieve depression. The easiest way to deal with spleen and blues is vitamins, sun and salt baths, morning exercises. Dark chocolate also helps a lot - it increases the level of endorphins in the blood - hormones that relieve stress. True, it is better for women to replace chocolate with shopping - shopping trips will also help to escape from everyday life, but the waist size will not increase.
Knowing your personal characteristics, you can give yourself two or three days to switch from one mode to another. During this time, the vacationer will have time to sort out the suitcases and get used to the weather. However, planning a new vacation right away is unwise. This will further distract from piled up worries.
Doctors advise to spend the first working days on reviewing new horizons and prospects. “I give this advice to businessmen who are constantly busy, they have practically no free time,” says Boris Novoderzhkin. - Before the holidays, everyone works, often they don’t have time, and after the holidays there is no such turnover, then there is time to look at the company as a kind of integral system. After all, in the routine, the little things drag on, and you are already working like an automatic machine. After the holidays, there is time to think about how to optimize work, how to distribute responsibilities.”
Get your sleigh ready in summer
A good company leader can ensure that the post-vacation blues of employees does not affect the work process. “It's all about the character of the workers,” says psychologist Natalia Panfilova. - Most of those who find it difficult to get out of vacation rush to work before rest and can do as much in one day as another person will do in a week. And other people, on the contrary, before the holidays cannot even force themselves to think about work, they count the last days before departure on the calendar, but after the rest they take up work with a vengeance. In this case, it will not be difficult to effectively distribute responsibilities.
Therefore, employers must take into account the psychological characteristics of their employees. Experts advise to speak frankly with the worker, ask him: “After the vacation, can you throw your chest at the embrasure?” But the choice of an employee must be voluntary and honest. And this conversation needs to be held in advance, and not on the last day before the vacation. Some companies specifically conduct psychological testing of a new employee. You can also add a paragraph about the attitude to work after the holidays.
In addition, each employer is able to remove post-holiday lethargy from employees and make them want to work. To do this, it is enough to arrange a corporate party or a field trip with barbecue and football.

Experts say: in the life of any person, a vacation is not at all such a simple period as we used to think. Studies have shown that about 40% of "vacationers" return to work after a holiday more stressed than they were before the holiday.
If you belong to the other 60% and still managed to relax after a few weeks of vacation, another attack may lie in wait for you - depression.

Often, a return to the work schedule causes a state familiar to many: it would seem that everything is fine, the rest turned out in the best way, but something incomprehensible gnaws from the inside, something does not suit you.
The most common manifestations: an incomprehensible unwillingness to work, headache and joint pain, dizziness, low mood, depression and the search for any "excuses" that would allow to postpone the start of work.

Psychologists insist: this is not laziness at all, but a real depression associated with the need to adapt and move from a state of rest and relaxation to an active “working mode”. In order to make this adaptation period as quick and painless as possible, experts advise you to follow simple rules.

painlessly integrate into the work process

1. Return from vacation a few days before going to work

Returning to work after rest inevitably entails a change in the daily routine, the nature of nutrition, and your entire lifestyle. Your immune system is under additional stress throughout the adaptation period. In order to make it easier for the body to adapt, it is useful to take a complex of vitamins.
A tincture or decoction of motherwort, valerian, chamomile tea will help you calm down and easily survive the increase in stress and tension levels that you managed to wean off during the rest.
On the last days of your vacation, rest more and well, do not burden yourself with difficult and unpleasant tasks for you.

In addition to bodily health, pay attention to how informed you are. Take an interest in the changes that have occurred at your work, look through the documentation, remember what things and projects you were busy with before you went on vacation.
Systematize and streamline - this is an incredibly effective antidepressant. Any activity that requires thoroughness and accuracy has a positive effect: put light summer things in the closet, sort out travel suitcases and bags, put things in order in documents and photographs.

2. Miss work

Set yourself up for the fact that you want to return to work, miss work as elementary school students are waiting for September 1, which will bring the opportunity to see schoolmates and gain new interesting knowledge.
Consciously prioritize. Remember why you love your job, why you work and why you go on vacation. Purposefully look for the positive.

In addition, a few days before the end of the vacation, you have the opportunity to sort yourself out: if your work does not bring you joy at all, perhaps it's time to look for a new one?

3. Prepare for your first day of work

Surviving can be oh so difficult, especially if you had a chance to leave your vacation on Monday. Therefore, it is advisable to plan your vacation in such a way that you return to work in the middle of the week, for example, Wednesday or Thursday.
Thursday is ideal: just two days to work, and again the weekend!

4. Don't get caught up in the work

After a vacation, you are in a relaxed state, and therefore it will be difficult for you to think and complete tasks quickly and carefully. Do not immediately "grab" large-scale cases. The body will adapt best if the transition to active work is gradual.

To slow down the hustle and bustle of everyday work, after a vacation, you should first take on not the difficult, but the simplest things.
Don't worry! What you didn’t do in 2-3 weeks of vacation, you won’t do in one day anyway: it’s simply impossible! It’s better to draw up an action plan: write down on a piece of paper all the urgent tasks that you face, select the most favorite and easy things from the list, and it is from them that you start to “get involved in the workflow”.

5. Psychologically extend your vacation

For example, devote the first working day to memories of pleasant moments of rest. Capture the best vacation shots from home, put them at work or use as a screensaver on your PC monitor. Show vacation photos to colleagues, tell about the positive emotions of your vacation, share your impressions about the most interesting pictures.

At the same time, you should not get too carried away with memories. This not only distracts attention from work tasks - your indefatigable enthusiasm can annoy and provoke envy, because not all of your colleagues managed to relax. Yes, and you are faced with the task of smoothly and gradually, but still tune in to a working mood, and not live in memories and nostalgic for happy moments of rest.

6. Avoid conflict situations

Watch your statements and behavior. The reconfiguration process can cause increased irritability, which, in turn, can give rise to unnecessary unconstructive conflicts.
Communicate with colleagues in a friendly tone. Your coworkers will help you get back to work and make you feel welcome back. In addition, this is a good opportunity to find out about all the news, rumors and changes that have occurred during your absence.

At the same time, try to avoid dry, non-emotional communication, show your colleagues a sincere and friendly attitude.

7. Work your muscles

After rest, pay attention to your physical activity. It is worth introducing additional physical activity, because, as a rule, during the holidays we move much more.
The so-called "muscle joy", that is, the pleasure that physical activity brings, is an excellent natural antidepressant. Morning jogging in the park, a long walk after work, simple gymnastics, especially in the fresh air, will help.

8. Do what you have long dreamed of

On your first weekend after your vacation, allow yourself the luxury of not doing household chores. Instead of cleaning or doing other boring things, go to a beauty salon, go shopping or do other pleasant things that will bring you new positive emotions.

In the end, enjoy what you missed on vacation: the Internet, chatting with friends, going to a concert or exhibition.

9. Get creative

Organize your photo album, make a collage or decorate your favorite photo with a beautiful frame. If artistic “things” do not attract you, treat your loved ones to some exotic dish, in the preparation of which the whole family can take part. Show your imagination!

10. Think about where and how you will rest next time

By the way, psychologists advise to rest at least once a season, that is, as many as 4 times a year. Such a vacation may last only a few days, but this time should be used for relaxation and “reboot”.
