Humanitarian and who else is there. Who is a humanitarian? How to determine who you are? The question is asked by teachers of the Department of Informatics of the Lyceum of BSU

The choice of a further profession is before every student. Today, the education system implies that at some point your child must clearly understand the profile of his further education.

Almost from elementary grades, caring parents try to help their children. reveal abilities and talents. Admittedly, it can be difficult enough to give advice to your child. In such situations, the type of thinking helps to decide.

Teachers teaching a child are familiar with his talents. It will not be difficult for them to suggest whether he is a humanist or a techie. So what do these concepts mean?

Today in society there are exemplary divisions. For example, if your child prefers the exact sciences, such as mathematics, physics, then he is a techie. And if he develops an interest in languages, the study of fiction or historical literature - a humanist. But in practice, everything is not so simple, since there are children with a mixed type.

Interestingly, it is possible to determine the mindset of a child according to certain criteria: the manner of remembering information, recognition in society, life values and goals.

techie man

Children with technical thinking distinguishes energy, perseverance and focus. Their brains work with great speed and clarity. Even at school, they show a penchant for algebra, geometry and physics, such a child can get along with any technique.

But, despite their activity, techies do not like live communication. New discoveries, inventions, a trace in history - this is the fate of techies. People with a technical mindset in their work are faced with any material, equipment, exact sciences.

In practice, they are professionals in their field. A techie man always has everything clearly and according to plan, there can be no third-party reflections. Phones, computers, cars, houses and buildings - something without which we cannot imagine our lives, the merit of these people.

Humanitarian man

Scientists have long determined that a child's propensity for various sciences can be identified from early childhood. A strongly pronounced tactile and olfactory sense can speak of a humanitarian type of thinking. Among the many hobbies, such children prefer drawing or needlework.

Main traits humanities:

  • sociability
  • interest in art, traditions, history, philosophy
  • desire to constantly develop and improve

You can name a number of social sciences - linguistics, philology, jurisprudence, political science. A person - a humanist is well versed in them, because thanks to the type of thinking he is able to master the language of words and letters

Children who adapt perfectly in society can safely find an appropriate profession for themselves.

Abilities and Interests

Speaking about the choice of a profession, it is necessary to take into account not only the capabilities of the child, but also his interests, tendencies. Actually, they are different things. It often happens that a child may really like a certain school discipline, but he does not fully understand it and does not understand everything.

Or vice versa, the teacher did not arouse the student's interest in his subject, so the child does not want to understand the “uninteresting” material.

Do not judge a child based only on school grades. If we try to make a balance of interests and abilities, we will get different options.

First: the direction is interesting and there are abilities - an ideal option that does not imply thinking about choosing a profession. Second: the child does not show interest in the direction, but has well-defined abilities. Here it is worth considering why the child does not want to engage in this area. Perhaps the problem is that teaching did not awaken interest in the discipline? Or is the child just interested in something else?

The third: interesting direction, but no special abilities. Think about whether it is worth developing something that does not exist in this case? Or was it just not possible to express yourself? Fourth: no interest in direction and no ability. Everything is simple here - think about other directions.

And fifth: if there is an average interest in both the humanities and technical sciences, pay attention to other areas, for example, creative ones.

It is important that the child has the last word. It is his choice, and only his. And there is no need to interfere with him, even if he suddenly decides to change direction.

The help of parents and teachers is only to provide the child with complete information about all possible areas of knowledge. And already to determine the area will help psychological testing, a kind of career guidance.

The humanitarian mindset often becomes the object of ridicule of typical "techies", who sincerely believe that a person who is poorly versed in mathematical calculations is stupid and narrow-minded. Like, a truly smart person remembers and logically analyzes information equally easily.

Features of the humanitarian mindset

In fact, everything is different. "Humanist" may well conduct calculations and study physics. It just doesn't interest him. Much more interesting for him are social activities, creativity, classical literature, philosophy, art.

At the same time, a conditional “humanist” can choose an appropriate profession for himself, in fact, understanding engineering technologies no worse than the most inveterate “technician”. A person with a humanitarian mindset, first of all, feels impulses to realize the spiritual side of his life.

Among the majority of scientists who discovered important chemical elements and physical laws, there was a craving for creativity. Moreover, hundreds of them became known precisely thanks to the products of their own imagination and reasoning. A vivid example is the greatest physicist and chemist Mikhail Vasilievich Lomonosov, who was more appreciated for his odes and poetry than for his invaluable contribution to the development of the exact sciences.

The humanitarian mindset on Wikipedia is interpreted as "mentality", or the ability to see a world in which thoughts are intertwined with emotions. Indeed, the mentality determines the indivisible emotional and intellectual aspects inherent in the "humanities".

The type of thinking is determined not at all by a good memory or enthusiasm for literature, but by the ability to perceive life in a multifaceted way. This is the main essence of the humanitarian mindset - to perceive the world comprehensively, to know that there are two sides to any medal, and that there is always something "other".

Another meaning, another interpretation, another interpretation, other concepts, another experience, another vision. The mathematical or technical mind perceives all life "according to the rules." Moreover, the person who possesses it is ready for days to prove to you the "generally accepted" laws of the universe, the results " the only true» research, unconditional submission of everything and everything to physical laws.

Such a perception is alien and opposite to a creative person. He always takes into account that there is "another". "Humanist" can despise, hate, be at enmity with this "other", not show a bit of tolerance towards him, but frankly admit that it exists.

What type of mind you have is not difficult to determine. This often happens at school. Teachers and class teachers easily determine the presence of a mathematical or humanitarian mindset in their wards. "Humanities" are distinguished by a high degree of literacy, a craving for learning foreign languages, a manifestation of creative abilities (drawing, music, poetry), a phenomenal memory, and philosophical judgments on every issue.

To determine these abilities in yourself, you can pass a special test. Professions for representatives of the humanitarian mindset are diverse - from a librarian to a politician or philosopher. It all depends on what kind of activity you have a real passion for.

How to determine the humanitarian mindset of your child?

The inclinations to the type of activity can be determined in early childhood. At the same time, for the first time, the essence of the mindset and thinking is revealed. How to distinguish whether your child has a humanitarian or technical mindset?

The first signs of "humanities" in a child:

  • He has a keen tactile and olfactory sense, reacts violently to odors, visuals, and touch;
  • He is not too keen on basic puzzles that are easily given to peers;
  • He loves to draw, paint, sculpt, form paper crafts;
  • He requires you to think about fairy tales and literary works, shows "adult" reasoning about the plot and characters;
  • He prefers role-playing games and strategies like "mother-daughter", "war";
  • He is not afraid of the dark;
  • He does not show much interest in natural sciences in real life mode: he does not ask where the cow's milk comes from, why dew appears on the grass, how many legs a spider has, etc.

If you have determined the presence of these abilities in your child, then it's time to start organizing his social and professional path. It should be understood that among the humanities there are also exact ones. For example, foreign languages or psychology.

Professional humanists, unlike mental ones, are not always able to perceive another point of view as something true and having the right to exist.

Another distinguishing feature of typical humanitarians, which manifests itself even in childhood, is communication skills. These people are drawn to others and masterfully make contacts throughout their lives. And this applies to those who accept someone else's worldview, and those who stubbornly reject it.

If a certain individual manages to easily establish contact with strangers who have fundamentally opposite views and positions, this person is a typical personification of the GSU. People of all religions, professions and types of temperament will be drawn to him, it will be easy and interesting for life with him, he will make an excellent psychologist, orator, sociologist or politician.

How to determine the mindset of an adult held person?

As we have already mentioned, " humanities" may well be engaged in mathematical or technical activities by chance. Moreover, such people often succeed in the business that they have chosen for their lives, even if it is at odds with the emotional and mental type.

Equally, as a "techie" can serve in government bodies, engage in psychology or in-depth study of the traditions of other countries. It is hardly possible to orient oneself in determining the mindset according to the assessment of the profession. Moreover, not everyone gets to do what they love in life.

What does the term "humanitarian mindset" mean?

  • Sign type of thinking;
  • Transforming information into a final form using a collective analysis of assumptions and statements;

  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Love for society and noisy events;
  • The need to constantly be in the spotlight;

If you still have doubts about your own path, we recommend that you take tests for a humanitarian mindset. So you can quickly decide on the choice of a career direction, choose a worthy hobby for yourself, and be able to start life from scratch, in accordance with your personal needs.

Depending on the mindset - analytical or humanitarian - we choose a circle of friends, hobbies, a profile direction at school, a faculty at a university, and, finally, a labor path. Inclinations and preferences are formed in childhood, so it is so important for parents to pay attention in time to what their child is interested in and in what activities they achieve the best results.

We talked about who the humanists are and how to educate them in a previous article. Now in our field of vision - techies. So called people with an analytical mindset, able to think logically and prefer to study the exact sciences.

How to understand that a child is a techie

There are many different ways to determine the mindset of a child or adult: tests, observation of behavior, analysis of preferences. Domestic scientists offer an unusual way. It turns out that humanities and techies can be identified by their ears. According to scientists, if the left ear is larger than the right, this indicates that their owner is a lover of numbers, logical problems and structured thoughts. A large right ear indicates the presence of creative abilities and a craving for the humanities: literature, social studies, history.

In this case, the ears demonstrate which hemisphere - the right or the left - is most developed. As we know, the right one is responsible for emotions and intuition, and the left one is for logic and analysis.

There is some truth in this method, but psychologists advise not to get involved in such methods of determining the child's abilities. The fact is that it is pointless to find out the preferences of a son or daughter until a certain age. If your preschooler can count up to 100 and easily solves mathematical problems, this does not mean at all that you are educating a future economist. Love for numbers can eventually be replaced by a passion for reading or music.

For observant parents: your child fits the description of a techie more than a humanitarian if he is assiduous, accurate, likes to finish what he has started, can study drawings for hours and create his own, easily performs mathematical operations with numbers, prefers monotonous manual labor.

Humanitarians or techies - a dispute that has not been extinguished in society for a very long time. Many people have not determined what type they belong to, but, in addition to this, the question has always arisen: “who, after all, is better?”. Who is easier to get a job, who is smarter and more talented?

If you approach this issue from a scientific point of view, these questions cannot be called correct. School students often confuse branches of knowledge that are related to the humanities, for example: biology. And, if we are talking about creative predispositions - is it a technical or humanitarian group? After all, there are a lot of creative specialties: writers, architects. Today we will try to understand these issues.

Humanitarians

The concept of "humanities" literally means "free, humane, sincere." This word denotes those sciences that have a close relationship with creativity and art. These include philosophy, psychology, conflictology, literature, journalism. It has long been considered that people who have a predisposition to languages, are able to speak to the public and are fond of literature, have a humanitarian mindset and increased sensitivity. Such people are not "friends" with the exact sciences, they see the world as romantics - dreaming and fantasizing.

Techies

People who are technically minded are considered more active, down to earth and energetic. They set a goal and confidently go to it. Possessing consistent, logical thinking, such people solve any problems more clearly and systematically. The technical sciences include mathematics, physics, computer science.

What is the difference?

It is quite simple to distinguish a person with a humanitarian mindset from a person with a technical one - there are several criteria:

Color preferences;

Ways of remembering and storing information in memory;

Behavior in public, in a narrow circle, in the family;

Set goals;

Life values.

The goals and objectives of techies will be: process optimization, search for formulas and algorithms for solving problems. For the humanities, however, it is the acquisition of extensive knowledge about the subject that they are studying. If techies are able to concretize and cut down information, build logical chains, then the humanities use vivid analogies, while using memory.

Who is smarter?

Most people say that mathematicians are smarter than humanitarians, but this claim is completely unfounded. In fact, every humanist can easily learn any of the technical professions - all thanks to the fact that people with a humanitarian mindset have a very good memory. It is unlikely that a techie will be able to cope with the development of a humanitarian profession, but as we know, there are exceptions to any rule.

If you ask a techie any question, he will answer specifically and factually, while a humanist will start a very long and beautiful story about a lofty one, while reflecting and setting famous personalities as an example.

When it comes to getting a job, it is much easier for a techie to get a job, as it does not take much time to evaluate his abilities. But to assess the knowledge and skills of a humanist, it will take more time: after all, no one knows when he will be fully revealed.
