History of the St. Petersburg metro

The Petersburg metro is the second longest in Russia after the Moscow one.

It opened in 1955. Today there are 5 metro lines, the total length of which is 113.6 kilometers. The metro scheme of St. Petersburg (St. Petersburg) is quite simple and almost everyone can figure it out.

Petersburg metro is considered the deepest in the world. Many of the stations have original architectural and artistic design.

For example, the walls of the Kirovsky Zavod station are decorated with marble and bas-reliefs. The ground building itself has a wide staircase, massive columns and resembles a palace or a temple. And at the Pushkin station there is a monument to A.S. Pushkin. This monument marked the beginning of the tradition of erecting monuments to great people in the subway. Plan for the development of the metro in St. Petersburg

At the moment, the metro network of St. Petersburg is not sufficiently developed. But every few years new stations open. And in the long-term plans - to almost double their number!

One of the significant transport problems of citizens is the isolation of districts and suburbs remote from the center. Ground transport circulates, but taking into account traffic jams, it is very difficult to get from the outskirts to the center and back.

Focusing on the metro development plan for 2016, developed by Lenmetrogiprotrans Research and Development Institute (in the picture on the left), one can understand how specific problems of individual areas of the city will be solved. So, for example, from the east of the center, in the Krasnogvardeisky district, whose residents currently use the Ladozhskaya metro station, which is often a long way to get to, they will receive a whole separate branch with four stations - Bolsheokhtinskaya, Energetikov Ave., Industrial and st. Communes. Of course, the attractiveness of the area will increase significantly!

From the south there will be, firstly, communication with the village of Shushary, which, in fact, is already part of the city (metro station Yuzhnaya). And, secondly, there will be an underground communication with Pulkovo Airport, which will be a significant gain not only for residents of the entire city, but also for its guests.

The northwest will also be integrated into the transport network. It will be possible to take the metro to Strelna itself! Not to mention such popular places among the townspeople as the Yunona radio market on Marshall Kazakov (metro station Kazakovskaya), which now has to be reached by land transport from the station. Avtovo.

Moving around the central part of the city will be significantly accelerated due to the appearance of the ring line, which will connect all branches and will allow not to pass through the center when it is not necessary.

Route planning methods:

The first one is to enter the name of the station of departure and destination in the special fields at the top of the page. Simply enter the first few letters of the name, and you will see an alphabetical index of metro stations, from which you can select the station you need. After both names are specified, you press the "Get route" button, where you will also be automatically calculated the travel time.

The second way to create a route involves the following steps. You need to find on the map the stations of the beginning and end of the route. Click on the name of the station and select "Select start of route" or "End of route". Once both stations are selected, the route will be plotted.

In both cases, a window will appear in front of you with the details of your path. First of all, you will see an approximate calculation of the travel time, as well as the number of transfers that you will need to make. Next, you can see the route of movement indicating all the stations that you have to pass, and all the transitions that you will need to make.

The traffic pattern will also be additionally highlighted on the map. You have the ability to save yourself a link to the route to re-refer to it if necessary.

  • Zvenigorodskaya station will be a transfer station to Pushkinskaya station with an exit at the intersection of Zvenigorodskaya street and Zagorodny avenue. Most likely, at first the station will not have its own exit, the exit will be through Pushkinskaya.
  • Obvodny Kanal station will be located at the intersection of the Obvodny Kanal embankment and Ligovsky Prospekt on the site of the former Sever cinema.

  • Prospekt Slavy station will be next to the South Pole shopping complex or in the Internationalist Park closer to Bukharestskaya street. It is still too early to talk about its opening, since work is still underway on the construction of the distillation tunnel. After this station, the option of building a “light” metro (on the surface) is being considered, which will go along Bukharestskaya Street to Shushary with three stations - Dunaisky Prospekt, Balkanskaya and Yuzhnaya, but this is already in the distant future.

    After the launch of the Frunzensky radius, the Frunzensko-Primorskaya line will continue beyond Komendantsky Prospekt. Further, everything is foggy, two, three and even four stations may appear.

    right bank line- prospective development of the line will lead to its shortening. Trains from Dostoevskaya will come not to Sadovaya, but to Spasskaya.

  • Spasskaya station will form the interchange hub Sennaya Ploshchad - Sadovaya - Spasskaya. This will be the first interchange hub of three stations in St. Petersburg. The construction of the station was frozen in the 1990s due to insufficient funding.
  • the Admiralteyskaya station was laid down a long time ago, but was frozen due to the problem of building an exit to the surface. At present, the Governor of St. Petersburg, Matvienko V.I. ordered the resettlement of residential buildings falling into the construction zone of the exit of the inclined passage to the surface. The ground vestibule of the station should be located near the Admiralty and Palace Square on Kirpichny Lane. The station may be opened soon and will be a transfer hub between the Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya and Pravoberezhnaya lines. Already now you can see the station on the stretch between "Sadovaya" and "Sportivnaya", trains slow down when passing it. If the station is opened, it will be the deepest in St. Petersburg - about 100 meters.
  • station "Sportivnaya" was planned as an interchange to the circle line. Now we are talking about connecting the station with the Vasileostrovskaya station by a special tunnel under the Neva, equipped with horizontal escalators (travelators). The entrance to the tunnel can already be seen from the Vasileostrovskaya side at the end of the station's underground vestibule. The issue of building a second exit for the station directly to Vasilevsky Island near the Tuchkov Bridge is also being considered.

    In order to unload the passenger traffic from the Krasnogvardeisky district of St. Petersburg and the Vsevolozhsky district, in 2003 JSC NIPI Lenmetrogiprotrans carried out pre-design studies for the construction of a metro line from the Ladozhskaya station to the Kovalevo station with an electric depot, including the stations Prospekt Kosygina, Porokhovye, "Rzhevka". The line was designed without a connecting branch with the existing subway, but in the future it is possible to connect it with the circle line, with its possible construction. The construction of the metro line will take 5-7 years. The further fate of the project is still unknown.

    It was planned to build a second exit at the station "Baltiyskaya". It was postponed due to insufficient funding, and after the closure of the Varshavsky railway station, where the second inclined passage was supposed to lead, its relevance is lost.

    There is a real lack of a circle line for the quick delivery of passengers to adjacent areas and unloading transfer hubs in the center. But one can only dream about it, they would finish what they started in Soviet times.

    The flight of Chkalov's crew from Moscow to the Far East started on July 20, 1936 and lasted 56 hours before landing on the sandy spit of Udd Island in the Sea of ​​Okhotsk. The total length of the record route was 9375 kilometers.

    On December 13, Polikarpov presented the I-180 test program: the flight task ordered a test flight in a circle for 10-15 minutes without retracting the landing gear; then, after a thorough inspection of the entire machine, carry out an introductory flight and 1-2 flights of 30-68 minutes each; finally flying with landing gear retracted up to an altitude of 7000 meters. Valery Chkalov was supposed to make only the first, most expensive flight, after which the car passed into the hands of another pilot - S.P. Suprun.
    According to the memoirs of D. L. Tomashevich, on this day the air temperature was “about minus 25 ° C ... Polikarpov seemed to dissuade Chkalov from flying out, but he did not agree.” Already at the landing of the aircraft, the M-88 engine stopped. Chkalov, as noted in the act of the commission investigating the causes of the accident, “until the last moment he flew the plane and tried to land and landed outside the area occupied by residential buildings.” But when landing, the plane caught on wires and a pole, and the pilot hit his head on the metal reinforcement that was at the crash site. Two hours later, he died in the Botkin hospital from his injuries.
