What's going on in the Bermuda Triangle. The Bermuda Triangle: an unsolvable phenomenon or a great hoax? Bermuda Triangle: what is it

- which aroused genuine reader interest.
People have always been interested in secrets. And what could be more mysterious than the Bermuda Triangle?
And so I decided to analyze various sources of information, weed out the deliberate nonsense and bring everything into a digestible form. The result is in front of you.

It is believed that the Bermuda Triangle is located between Florida, Bermuda, the Bahamas and Puerto Rico, but a number of disappearances have occurred outside these conditional limits. Some are in the Gulf of Mexico, others are in the north of the Atlantic, and others are off the Azores. It is quite possible, therefore, to include in the triangle the Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf Stream, which has a key influence on the features of the entire water area.

Of course, many planes and ships cross this area every day, and all of them remain unscathed. But the number of disappearances in these places is higher than the expected probability indicators of catastrophes. And it is fundamentally important to distinguish between the concepts of "to endure a catastrophe" and "disappear without a trace." In the first case, debris and bodies remain on the water, and in the second, nothing.

The writer L. Kusche in the book "The Mystery of the Bermuda Triangle Solved" (1975), "revealed" the mystery of this place: “The legend of the Bermuda Triangle is an artificially fabricated hoax. It arose as a result of carelessly conducted investigations, and then was refined and perpetuated by authors who, with or without intention, used incorrect theories; erroneous documentation and all sorts of sensationalist revelations. This legend was repeated so innumerably times that in the end it began to be accepted as something reliable. However, at the same time, Kusche and other skeptical authors selectively reject some cases and circumstances, leaving “overboard” those for which they could not give explanations.

Here are the most mysterious cases.

In the photo: ship Mary Celeste

The ship "Siberd" was found in shallow water off the coast of Rhode Island. There was coffee on the galley stove and plates on the table. The only living creature on board was a dog. Not a single person was found on the ship. Cargo, navigational instruments, maps, sailing directions and ship's documents were in their places (1850).
- The ship "Bella" sailed from Rio de Janeiro to Jamaica, but never arrived at the port of destination. No one heard from him again (1854).
- Brigantine "Mary Celeste" ”was discovered 800 km west of Gibraltar, sailing, without any damage, with a laid table in the wardroom and without crew members (1872).
- The training sailing ship Atalanta (290 crew members) disappeared without a trace on the way from Bermuda to England (1880).
- The merchant barque Freya, sailing from Cuba to Chile, was found damaged and without a crew: on its side, with broken masts, an incompletely selected, loose anchor dangled on the bow (1902).
- The famous captain D. Slocum, the first to sail around the world, gone missing together with his yacht after sailing from about. Martha's Vineyard (1909).

- The cargo ship "Cyclops" (309 people), carried manganese ore from Barbados to the USA. The vessel was 180 m long and was one of the largest in the US Navy. The search for him did not yield results (1918).
- The schooner "Carroll A. Dearing" was found on the shallows off the state of North Carolina, with sails raised, food cooked in the galley, and with two live cats on board, but without crew members (1921).
- The cargo ship "Suduffco" was sailing from New Jersey to the Panama Canal, and disappeared without a trace, along with a crew of 29 people. (1926).
- The schooner "Gloria Colita" was sailing from Alabama to Cuba, and was discovered by the Coast Guard, without a crew, although there was no obvious reason for fleeing from her. The foresail was not raised, and torn to shreds, and the rest of the sails were lowered (1940).
- Two ships at once, sailing from the Virgin Islands - first the Proteus, and a few weeks later the Nereus, heading to Portland and Norfolk with a cargo of bauxite, never arrived at their destination, having disappeared without a trace (1941).
- The Rubicon, in good condition but without lifeboats and with a torn tow line dangling from the bow, was found without a crew off Florida. The only living creature on board was a dog (1944).

However, of all the mysteries associated with the Bermuda Triangle, there is none more impressive than the mystery of “Link No. 19" - a group of US Air Force aircraft that disappeared during training flights on December 5, 1945. It is worth dwelling on this event in more detail.

At 2:10 p.m., five pre-flight Avenger-class torpedo bombers took off from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, heading east. The crew of each car was 3 people. 4 officers and 9 crew members were led by an experienced pilot, Lieutenant C. Taylor, who had 2.5 thousand flying hours. The fuel supply in the tanks was sufficient for 5.5 hours of flight. The weather at the time of departure was perfect. The estimated flight duration was 2 hours: 256 km to the east, 64 km to the north, to Bermuda, and back.

After completing the training task at 15:35, the link lay down on the return course to the southwest. At 15:45, a radio message was received from Lieutenant Taylor at the base:“We are in an emergency. Obviously, they've gone off course. We do not see the earth, I repeat, we do not see the earth. Everything was mixed up. Even the sea looks somehow unusual ... "

The response to the base request for the coordinates of the link was as follows:“We can't determine our location. We don't know where we are now. We seem to be lost...”It was hard to believe in such a thing, given that there was not a cloud in the sky, and Lieutenant Taylor was an experienced pilot. And besides him, the crews included several experienced pilots, even older than him in military rank.

The controllers had difficulty picking up fragments of the radio conversations of the pilots among themselves:“We don’t know where we are… Must be 225 miles northeast of the base…”

At 4:45 pm Taylor reported:“Under me is the earth, the terrain is rugged. I'm sure it's Kees..."(apparently, Taylor thought he was seeing one of the Florida Keys). The base, however, considered this information to be erroneous, and advised to keep heading for the setting sun, believing that the link was still east of Florida.“We don't know where the west is. It doesn't work... It's strange... We can't determine the direction. Even the ocean doesn't look like it usually does..."

After that, the base completely lost contact with the aircraft, but continued to hear the conversations of the pilots. It turned out that the wind was getting stronger overboard, it was getting dark, and the magnetic and gyroscopic compasses, checked many times before the flight, were out of order (the arrows “danced like crazy”). The fuel tanks were running out. For some reason, the pilots did not see the setting sun, lost their orientation in space and were on the verge of collapse. Someone shouted:“Damn it, if we flew west, we would get home!”Then came Taylor's reply:"Our home is in the northeast..."... After a while, someone said: "" Both compasses are out of order ... I'm above the ground, it's uneven. I'm sure it's Florida reefs, but I don't know the height ... ".

At 5 p.m., Lieutenant Taylor began to prepare the flight for splashdown:"All planes stay close... When the first one of you goes down, everyone else needs to do it."At 5:22 pm Taylor announced:"When anyone has 10 gallons of fuel left, we're splashing!"Apparently, soon the planes splashed down, because at 18:02 they heard at the base:“At any moment we can drown ...”

On alarm from the air base "Banana River" to help the flight, a search seaplane "Martin Mariner" (crew - 13 people) flew out, equipped with all rescue equipment and capable of splashing down even with a very high wave. After some time, the crew confirmed that they were approaching the area of the accident. But suddenly the connection with this plane was interrupted - it disappeared.

The 5-day full-scale rescue operation ended in vain.

The official version was that all the Avengers fell into the sea, and the rescue aircraft exploded in the air due to design flaws. But no evidence, however, was given. It is also strange that they did not pay attention to the fact that on the morning of December 5, 1945, another training flight took place. The pilot who made it also reported a temporary failure of the compasses and an emergency landing 80 km from the base.

However, let us return to the list of the most noteworthy cases of disappearance in the triangle. We note in particular that in all these cases there was no SOS signal.

The pilot of the Star Tiger plane, flying from England to Bermuda, reported his coordinates (380 miles from the islands), confirmed that everything was normal and the board was on schedule. This was the last thing heard about this aircraft (1948).
- The Dakota-3, which was flying in normal weather from Puerto Rico to Miami, suddenly disappeared just before landing, along with 27 passengers. At 4:13 a.m., the flight commander, Captain R. Linkvist, called the Miami airfield control service, said that everything was in order on board, and asked for permission to land. After that, the connection was cut off - almost before the exit to the airfield zone. Rescue work ended in nothing, and they did not find the accumulation of sharks and barracudas, which usually happens at the crash site (1948).
- A Star Ariel transport aircraft (of the same type as the Star Tiger) took off from an airfield in Bermuda and headed for Jamaica. After an hour of flight, the flight commander got in touch: “We have reached cruising speed, the weather is fine. Should arrive in Kingston on schedule." After that "Star Ariel" disappeared (1949).
- The cargo ship "Sandra" (120 m in length), sailing from Georgia to Venezuela, disappeared without a trace (1950).
- The tank landing ship Southern Districts, converted into a sulfur cargo ship, disappeared en route from Louisiana to Maine. Subsequently, only a lifeline was found (1954).
- US Navy Super Constellation aircraft (42 people on board) disappeared north of Bermuda. The search for the wreckage yielded nothing (1954).
- The fishing vessel "Snoboy", which made the passage from Kingston to the Pedro Keys in calm and clear weather, disappeared along with 55 people. on board (1963).
- The pilot of a private jet, C. Vokeli, flying from Nassau (Bahamas) to Florida, flying over Andros Island in the evening, at an altitude of 2 km noted the glow of the wings, the “jumping” of the compass needle, the incorrect indication of the fuel level in the tanks and other strange phenomena. The autopilot suddenly failed, and the plane began to enter a deep turn, which forced it to switch to manual control. The glow of the wings was so intense that it interfered with control. The contours of the wings gradually became blurred, and the pilot stopped seeing the stars. This state lasted about 5 minutes. After that, the glow weakened and soon stopped, the compass needle calmed down, and other devices also began to work normally. Subsequently, the flight took place in the normal mode (1964).
- A twin-engine C-119 aircraft that flew from Florida to Grand Turk Island disappeared without a trace 400 km east of Miami with 10 crew members (1965).
- A small Beechcraft-Bonanza plane took off from Miami for the Florida Keys, but disappeared somewhere south of Florida. And three days after that, during a flight between Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, a small Piper Apache plane disappeared without a trace. In both cases, no traces of the catastrophe were found (1967).
- The Soviet cargo plane An-22, bound for Peru, disappeared without a trace over the Atlantic. The last time I had a connection with him was 47 minutes later. after leaving Iceland. The cause of the disappearance could not be determined (1970).
- The large (113 m) dry cargo ship El Carib, sailing from Colombia to the Dominican Republic (crew - 30 people), equipped with an automatic signaling system, which, in the event of an accident, independently sends a distress signal on the air, disappeared without a trace (1971).
- During a training flight, the US Air Force KA-6 bomber lost radio contact with the aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy, 100 km from Norfolk, and disappeared from the radar screens. Traces of him were never found, the pilots did not eject (1978).

The above list, of course, can still be supplemented and continued, since small private planes, yachts, boats and motor boats have disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle. But the overall picture is clear. It is clear, however, that the number of disappearances has decreased since the 1980s. Until now. This is clearly connected both with scientific and technological progress in the field of navigation systems, and with an increase in the safety standards of ship and aircraft construction, sea and air transportation. But even today, less often, strange incidents happen. Noteworthy is the disappearance of the cargo ship Genesis en route from Trinidad and Tobago to St. Vincent. And although the last message from the ship spoke of problems with the bilge pump, this did not mean an emergency. The search for traces of the ship was in vain (1999).

So what is going on in the Bermuda Triangle?

Many different hypotheses have been put forward. Consider only the most realistic ones.

Academician V.V. Shuleikin proved that when the wind sweeps over the wave crests of a stormy sea, low-frequency infrasonic oscillations are excited in the air, propagating hundreds of kilometers from the storm. Infrasound is characterized by biological activity, which is based on the coincidence of its frequencies with the alpha rhythms of the brain. At a frequency below 7 hertz and the coincidence of the resonant frequency of the ship's hull oscillations with the frequency of the infrasound waves affecting the ship, it itself becomes a secondary source of infrasound, much amplified. It is known that with fluctuations of 6 hertz, a person falls into horror. In this state, people can hastily launch boats and leave the ship, or simply throw themselves overboard. This hypothesis, in principle, sheds light on most of the events in the triangle.

According to the version of the researcher A. Jad, methane is released from the bottom soil, which rises to the surface and further into the atmosphere. Any ship in the ejection zone loses buoyancy (the density of water decreases) and sinks like a stone. Further, methane rises to a height and leads to the fall of aircraft. This version is convincing, but does not explain why the crews on abandoned ships disappeared.

In 1950 W.B. Smith discovered anomalous spherical regions 300 m in diameter, extending to great heights."... When hitting these invisible and unmapped areas of anomalies of magnetic-gravitational forces, without knowing it, planes [and ships] come to a fatal outcome." “... Whether these areas are moving... or simply disappearing is unknown... After 3-4 months, we tried to find some of them again, but there were no traces...”
In the development of this version, one can cite the opinion of the doctor of physical and mathematical sciences A.I. Elkin, who discovered that, according to statistics, disappearances occur at the moments of full moons and during periods of the greatest value of precessional forces; and it is known that magnetic anomalies arise due to the movement of ionized magma in the bowels of the Earth, caused by lunisolar tides.

When the researcher I. Sanderson put on the world map the places of the most frequent disappearances of aircraft and ships, he noticed that most of them are located in 6 regions of the planet. They are located between 30 and 40 parallels north and south of the equator, 72 degrees longitude apart, their centers at a distance of 66 degrees latitude from each other. Together with both poles, they form a network that covers the entire Earth.

Most of these areas are located near the eastern parts of the lithospheric plates, in places where warm northern and cold southern currents collide. These areas coincide with places where the directions of deep and surface currents are different. Changeable powerful undercurrents under the influence of different temperatures form magnetic, and possibly gravitational "funnel" that disrupt radio communications, which, according to Sanderson, under certain conditions can carry objects in the air or on the surface of the water to points located at a different time (and back).

According to measurements from space, the level of the water table in the center of the Bermuda Triangle is 25 m lower than the general level of the World Ocean. This proves the presence of a gravitational perturbation in this place.

The Bermuda Triangle, of course, is the most famous (probably because other anomalous regions lie away from the lines of heavy traffic of ships and aircraft). Only one, called the “Sea of the Devil” (between Japan, the Philippines and the island of Guam), can be compared with him in terms of notoriety. It is similar to the water area of the triangle in that it represents the western periphery of the northern subtropical anticyclonic gyre formed by the Northern Equatorial Current and the analogue of the Gulf Stream, the Kuroshio Current. Therefore, here, too, although less frequently, magnetic-gravitational anomalies occur. There are reports of disappearances and crashes in the area of dozens of ships and aircraft, but they need to be carefully verified.

Thus, the solution to the problem of the Bermuda Triangle is still ahead.

The Bermuda Triangle (another name is the Devil's Triangle) is an area in the western Atlantic Ocean in which mysterious disappearances of ships and aircraft occur or do not occur. This area is bounded by a triangle, the tops of which are the Florida peninsula, Bermuda and the island of Puerto Rico.
Regarding the Bermuda Triangle, there are two points of view:
1. The Bermuda Triangle exists.
2. There is no Bermuda Triangle.
Supporters of the first point of view believe that the mysterious disappearances of ships and aircraft in the Bermuda Triangle do occur. The reasons for these disappearances, in their opinion, are:
1. Unusual weather events.
2. Abductions by aliens.
3. Abductions by the inhabitants of Atlantis.
4. Malfunction of navigation and communication equipment.
It is possible that there are other reasons for the mysterious disappearances of ships and aircraft in the Bermuda Triangle that I am not aware of. I note that none of the above versions has not yet received confirmation. That is, at the moment there is no evidence of the mysterious disappearance of ships and aircraft in the Bermuda Triangle.
Supporters of the second point of view believe that the disappearance of ships and aircraft in the Bermuda Triangle is a common occurrence, they occur no more often than in other areas of the oceans. In their opinion, these disappearances are due to natural causes. Proponents of the second point of view are trying to give a scientific explanation for these phenomena.
For example, Lawrence David Kouchet, author of The Bermuda Triangle: Myths and Reality, believes that nothing supernatural and mysterious is happening in the Bermuda region. Lawrence David Kouchet and others have shown that some of the disappearances of ships and aircraft reported by Bermuda Triangle advocates occurred outside of the Bermuda Triangle. Some of the incidents reported by the supporters of the Bermuda Triangle could not be found at all in official sources.
Regarding this book, it should be noted that it is based on many years of research of documents and conversations with eyewitnesses, which revealed numerous factual errors and inaccuracies in the publications of supporters of the existence of the Bermuda Triangle mystery. Opponents of the Bermuda Triangle argue that reports of mysterious events in the area are greatly exaggerated. Ships and aircraft are also dying in other parts of the world, sometimes without leaving a trace.
Regarding the abduction by the inhabitants of Atlantis, it can be noted that the Bermuda Triangle is located to the west of the Strait of Gibraltar. Ancient Greek and Roman historians, philosophers and other experts noted in their writings that Atlantis is located to the west of the Strait of Gibraltar. The conclusion follows from the above:
1. Is this a coincidence or is there some kind of relationship between Atlantis and the Bermuda Triangle, which is not yet known to the public.
That is, one of the two, the third is not given. Some supporters of the existence of the Bermuda Triangle believe that Atlantis was once located on the site of the Bermuda Triangle. If we assume that Atlantis was in the place of the Bermuda Triangle, then at its bottom there should be traces of Atlantis, for example, streets, buildings, cities.
In 1977, the Soviet scientist Sergei Proskuryakov wrote in his works that in the Bermuda region, at the bottom of the ocean, a hill was recorded by echo sounders of a fishing vessel, which very much resembles a pyramid. After that, under the guidance of the famous American atlantologist Charles Berlitz, a mountain similar to a pyramid was discovered at a depth of 400 meters. It should be noted that Charles Berlitz published the book The Bermuda Triangle.
In 1991, oceanographer Verlag Meyer, using sonar, discovered two giant pyramids at the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle. At his press conference, held in the Bahamas, the scientist presented to the public all the data he had obtained, including the coordinates of these underwater pyramids. The Bermuda pyramids are located at a depth of 600 meters. They are taller than the Cheops pyramid in Egypt. Verlag Meyer argues that modern science does not know the technology by which the underwater pyramids were created. It was possible to establish that these pyramids are about half a century old. That is, they are not fragments of bygone civilizations.
There is information that the remains of some ancient city were found on the seabed in the Bermuda Triangle. Objects under water were discovered and filmed by Canadian researchers Paul Weinzweig and his wife Polina Zelitskaya. According to the spouses, this underwater city is located at a depth of about 700 meters. These researchers found four pyramids, squares, streets, a monument similar to the Sphinx, and walls with strange inscriptions. According to the spouses, underwater structures are clearly man-made and they may well be part of the sunken Atlantis. The couple noted that such a symmetrical architecture cannot be of natural origin. Some experts do not exclude that the very pyramids that Verlag Meyer spoke about were re-found by the spouses.
Many researchers believe that there is a logical connection between all the pyramids located in the following territories: Brazil, Australia, China, Japan, Mexico, Egypt, Russia, Ukraine and Bermuda.
The question arises - why is this topic closed in the media at the moment? There is an assumption among some experts, which is that in the Bermuda Triangle there are UFOs taking off directly from the water and the entry of unidentified objects into the depths of the sea.
If we assume that the Bermuda Triangle is associated with the abduction of earthlings by aliens, then the question arises - why did the aliens choose the Bermuda Triangle as the place for the abduction of earthlings? What is unusual about this Bermuda Triangle? Only aliens themselves can answer this question.
I will end this work with the question - does the Bermuda Triangle exist?

Reviews

Very interesting article! Didn't know that Meyer was able to determine the age of the pyramids. If the pyramids are really about 50 years old, then they are definitely not the work of man. It doesn't look like they came about naturally either. It turns out that only the version of the alien origin of the pyramids remains 👽

Or Atlantis is a place where people disappear, ships and planes disappear, navigation instruments fail, and almost no one ever finds the wrecked. This hostile, mystical, ominous country for a person instills such great horror in the hearts of people that they often simply refuse to talk about it.

Bermuda Triangle: what is it

Few people knew about the existence of such a mysterious and amazing phenomenon called a hundred years ago.
To actively occupy people's minds and force them to put forward various hypotheses and theories, this mystery of the Bermuda Triangle began in the 70s. of the last century, when Charles Berlitz published a book in which he described the stories of the most mysterious and mystical disappearances in this region in an extremely interesting and fascinating way.

After that, the journalists picked up the story, developed the theme, and the story of the Bermuda Triangle began. Everyone began to worry about the secrets of the Bermuda Triangle and the place where the Bermuda Triangle or the missing Atlantis is located.

This wonderful place or the missing Atlantis is located in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of North America - between Puerto Rico, Miami and Bermuda. It is located in two climatic zones at once: the upper part, the larger one - in the subtropics, the lower one - in the tropics. If these points are connected with each other by three lines, a large triangular figure will appear on the map, the total area of \u200b\u200bwhich is about 4 million square kilometers.
This triangle is rather arbitrary, since ships also disappear outside its borders - and if you mark on the map all the coordinates of disappearances, flying and floating vehicles, you will most likely get a rhombus.

The term itself is unofficial, its author is Vincent Gaddis, who in the 60s. last century published an article entitled "The Bermuda Triangle is the lair of the devil (death)". The note did not cause much excitement, but the phrase was fixed and reliably came into use.

Bermuda Triangle: possible causes of crashes

For knowledgeable people, the fact that ships often crash here is not particularly surprising: this region is not easy to navigate - there are many shoals, great amount fast water and air currents, cyclones often arise and hurricanes rage.

What is hidden under water? The bottom relief in this area is interesting and varied, although it is nothing ordinary and has been studied quite well, since some time ago various studies and drilling were carried out here in order to find oil and other minerals.

Scientists have determined that the Bermuda Triangle or the missing Atlantis contains mainly sedimentary rocks on the ocean floor, the layer thickness of which is from 1 to 2 km, and it itself looks like this:

  • Deep-water plains of oceanic basins - 35%;
  • Shelf with shoals - 25%;
  • The slope and foot of the mainland - 18%;
  • Plateau - 15%;
  • Deep ocean trenches - 5% (the deepest places of the Atlantic Ocean are located here, as well as its maximum depth - 8742 m, recorded in the Puerto Rican trench);
  • Deep straits - 2%;
  • Seamounts - 0.3% (there are six in total).

Secrets of the Bermuda Triangle: the Gulf Stream version

The Gulf Stream crosses the Bermuda Triangle in the west, so the air temperature here is usually 10 ° C higher than in the rest of this mysterious anomaly. Because of this, in the places of collisions of atmospheric fronts of different temperatures, one can often see fog, which often strikes the mind of overly impressionable travelers.

The Gulf Stream itself is a very fast current, the speed of which often reaches ten kilometers per hour (it should be noted that many modern transoceanic ships move slightly faster - from 13 to 30 km / h). An extremely fast flow of water can easily slow down or increase the movement of the ship (it all depends on which direction it is sailing). There is nothing surprising in the fact that ships of weaker power in the old days easily went off course and were swept absolutely in the wrong direction, as a result of which they suffered wrecks and disappeared forever in the oceanic abyss. But this is only one of the versions that are decisive.

Riddles of the Bermuda Triangle - other versions

Currents and whirlpools
In addition to the Gulf Stream, strong but irregular currents constantly arise in the Bermuda Triangle, the appearance or direction of which is almost never predictable. They are formed mainly under the influence of tidal and ebb waves in shallow water and their speed is as high as that of the Gulf Stream - and is about 10 km / h.

As a result of their occurrence, whirlpools are often formed, causing trouble for small ships with a weak engine. There is nothing surprising in the fact that if in former times a sailing ship got here, it was not easy for him to get out of the whirlwind, and under especially unfavorable circumstances, one might even say - impossible.

water shafts
The Bermuda Triangle is an area where hurricanes form, with wind speeds of about 120 m/s, which also generate fast currents whose speed is equal to that of the Gulf Stream. They, creating huge shafts, rush along the surface of the Atlantic Ocean until they hit the coral reefs at great speed, breaking the ship if it had the misfortune to be in the path of giant waves.

Sargasso Sea
In the east of the Bermuda Triangle, the Sargasso Sea is located - a sea without shores, surrounded on all sides instead of land by the strong currents of the Atlantic Ocean - the Gulf Stream, the North Atlantic, the North Trade Wind and the Canary.

Outwardly, it seems that its waters are motionless, the currents are weak and hardly noticeable, while the water here is constantly moving, since the water flows, pouring into it from all sides, rotate the sea water clockwise.

Another remarkable thing about the Sargasso Sea is the huge amount of algae in it (contrary to popular belief, there are also areas with completely clear water). When in former times ships were brought here for some reason, they got entangled in dense sea plants and, falling into a whirlpool, albeit slowly, they were no longer able to get back. This is another option to decide.

The movement of air masses
Since this area lies in the trade winds, the Bermuda Triangle is constantly blown by extremely strong winds. Stormy days are not uncommon here (according to various meteorological services, there are about eighty stormy days here a year - that is, once every four days the weather here is terrible and disgusting.

Here is another explanation of why missing ships and planes were found earlier. It is now that almost all captains are aware of the meteorologists when exactly the weather will be bad. Previously, due to the lack of information, during terrible storms, many sea vessels found their last refuge in this area.

In addition to the trade winds, cyclones feel comfortable here, the air masses of which, creating whirlwinds and tornadoes, rush at a speed of 30-50 km / h. They are extremely dangerous, because, raising warm water up, they turn it into huge water columns (often their height reaches 30 meters), with an unpredictable trajectory and crazy speed. A small ship in such a situation has practically no chance of surviving, a large one is likely to stay afloat, but it is unlikely to get out of trouble safe and sound.

Infrasonic signals
Another reason for the huge number of accidents, experts call the ability of the ocean to produce infrasound signals that cause panic among the crew, because of which people can even throw themselves overboard. The sound of this frequency affects not only waterfowl, but also aircraft.

Researchers assign an important role in this process to hurricanes, storm winds and high waves. When the wind starts to beat against the crests of the waves, a low-frequency wave arises, which almost immediately rushes forward and signals the approach of a strong storm. While moving, she catches up with the floating ship, hits the sides of the ship, then goes down to the cabins.

Once in a confined space, the infrasonic wave begins to psychologically put pressure on the people there, causing panic and nightmare visions, and when they see their worst nightmares, people lose control of themselves and jump overboard in despair. The ship completely leaves life, it is left without control and begins to drift until it is found (which can take more than one decade).

The infrasonic wave acts on aircraft in a slightly different way. An infrasonic wave hits a plane flying over the Bermuda Triangle, which, as in the previous case, begins to psychologically put pressure on the pilots, as a result, they stop thinking about what they are doing, especially since at this moment phantoms begin to appear in front of them. Further, either the pilot will crash, or he will be able to take the ship out of the dangerous zone for him, or the autopilot will save him.

Gas bubbles: methane
Researchers are constantly bringing up interesting facts about the Bermuda Triangle. For example, there are suggestions that in the area of the Bermuda Triangle bubbles often form, filled with gas - methane, which appears from cracks in the ocean floor that were formed after the eruptions of ancient volcanoes (oceanographers found huge accumulations of methane crystal hydrate above them).

After some time, certain processes begin to occur in methane for one reason or another (for example, their appearance can cause a weak earthquake) - and it forms a bubble, which, rising up, bursts at the surface of the water. When this happens, the gas escapes into the air, and a funnel forms in place of the former bubble.

Sometimes the ship passes over the bubble without problems, sometimes it breaks through it, and crashes. In reality, no one has ever seen the impact of methane bubbles on ships, some researchers claim that a huge number of ships go missing for this very reason.

When the ship hits the crest of one of the waves, the ship begins to descend - and then the water under the ship suddenly bursts, disappears - and it falls into empty space, after which the waters close - and water rushes into it. There is no one to save the ship at this time - when the water disappeared, concentrated methane gas escaped, instantly killing the entire crew, and the ship sinks, and forever ends up on the ocean floor.

The authors of this hypothesis are convinced that this theory also explains the reasons for the presence of ships with dead sailors in this area, on whose bodies no injuries were found. Most likely, the ship, when the bubble burst, was far enough away that something threatened it, but the gas got to people.

As for airplanes, methane can also have a detrimental effect on them. Basically, this happens when methane that has risen into the air enters the fuel, explodes, and the plane falls down, after which, falling into a whirlpool, it disappears forever in the ocean depths.
Magnetic anomalies
In the area of the Bermuda Triangle, magnetic anomalies also often occur, confusing all the navigational equipment of ships. They are unstable, and appear mainly when the tectonic plates diverge as much as possible.

As a result, unstable electric fields and magnetic disturbances arise that adversely affect the psychological state of a person, change instrument readings and neutralize radio communications.

Riddles of the Bermuda Triangle: hypotheses of the disappearance of ships

Riddles of the Bermuda Triangle never cease to interest the human mind. Why it is here that ships crash and disappear, journalists and lovers of everything unknown put forward many more theories and assumptions.

Some believe that interruptions in navigation instruments are caused by Atlantis, namely its crystals, which were previously located precisely on the territory of the Bermuda Triangle. Despite the fact that only tiny bits of information have come down to us from the ancient civilization, these crystals are still active and send signals from the depths of the ocean floor that cause interruptions in navigation instruments.

Another interesting theory is that the Bermuda Triangle contains portals leading to other dimensions (both in space and time). Some are even sure that it was through them that aliens penetrated the Earth in order to kidnap people and ships.

Military operations or piracy - many believe (even if this is not proven) that the loss of modern ships is directly related to these two reasons, especially since such cases have happened repeatedly before. Human error - ordinary disorientation in space and incorrect interpretation of instrument indicators may also well be the cause of the death of the ship.

Is there a secret to the Bermuda Triangle?

Is it disclosed Mystery of the Bermuda Triangle? Despite the excitement raised around the Bermuda Triangle, scientists argue that in reality this territory is no different, and a large number of accidents are mainly associated with difficult natural conditions for navigation (especially since the World Ocean contains many other, more dangerous for humans) places). And the fear that causes or the missing Atlantis - these are ordinary prejudices constantly fueled by journalists and other lovers of sensationalism.

Many people know the Bermuda Triangle as an anomalous zone in which phenomena that are inexplicable to people occur. But not everyone knows in which ocean it is located, and where to look for it on the world map.

Location

The location of the Bermuda Triangle is conditionally determined by three symbolic peaks located in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. These include:

  • Island of Puerto Rico;
  • South Cape of the US state of Florida (Miami);
  • Bermuda.

This territory on the map looks like a triangle. The coordinates of the Bermuda Triangle are as follows: 26°37′45″ s. sh. and 70°53′01″ W. e. This anomalous place is adjacent to: Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, the southern coast of the American state of Florida.

To more clearly imagine where the Bermuda Triangle is located on the map, you need to find its southern corners of Puerto Rico and the southern cape of Florida and extend conditional lines upwards to Bermuda.

What is the Bermuda Triangle

The territory of this place occupies more than one million square kilometers in its area. The relief here is very interesting and varied. If you look at the photo from the satellite, then here are:

In the western part of the triangle, the warm Gulf Stream runs almost along the entire conditional border, which increases the air temperature by an average of 10 degrees compared to the rest of the territory. As a result, fog often forms here. Also, the average speed of this current is about 10 km per hour, which significantly affects the speed of ships that fall under its influence.

In addition to the Gulf Stream, there are often other fast currents that can never be predicted. Their appearance is associated with ebb and flow in shallow water. Such currents can form whirlpools, which also have an unpleasant effect on the management of watercraft.

Based on the natural features of the area, hurricanes often originate here, which generate high waves and fast currents. Not surprisingly, in this place, where the Bermuda Triangle is located, ships were constantly sinking and planes crashed.

This place gained its first fame back in 1840, when a drifting French ship was discovered near the capital of Bermuda. It was completely intact, but none of the crew was on it. Later it turned out that the ship ran aground, and the crew left the ship on boats.

Secrets of the Bermuda Triangle

Modern travelers make a lot of videos of anomalous phenomena in this zone, which cause aircraft and ship crashes and lead to death of people. The main reasons for this are:

  • Emerging magnetic anomalies that knock down the working equipment of ships. They occur mainly at the time of the movement of tectonic plates.
  • The formation of methane gas bubbles. They emerge from cracks as plates move apart on the ocean floor. When the bubble bursts, a funnel remains in its place, and if it hits it, the ship crashes.
  • Infrasonic waves that form in the ocean during storms. They get into the enclosed space of ships and cause discomfort and panic in humans.

In addition, constantly formed storms and fast currents create a lot of danger when ships and aircraft enter this zone.

Bermuda Triangle- an area in the Atlantic Ocean, in which mysterious disappearances of ships and aircraft allegedly occur. The area is bounded by lines from Florida to Bermuda, on to Puerto Rico, and back to Florida via the Bahamas. A similar "triangle" in the Pacific is called Devil's.

The area is very difficult to navigate: there are a large number of shoals, cyclones and storms often arise.

Various hypotheses are put forward to explain the mysterious disappearances in this zone, from unusual weather events to alien or Atlantean abductions. Skeptics argue, however, that the disappearance of ships in the Bermuda Triangle does not occur more often than in other areas of the world's oceans, and is due to natural causes. The US Coast Guard and Lloyd's Insurance Market share the same opinion.

Story

Associated Press correspondent Jones was the first to mention "mysterious disappearances" in the Bermuda Triangle, in 1950 he called the area the "Devil's Sea". The author of the phrase "Bermuda Triangle" is considered Vincent Gaddis, who published in 1964 in one of the journals devoted to spiritualism, the article "The Deadly Bermuda Triangle".

In the late 60s and early 70s of the XX century, numerous publications began to appear about the secrets of the Bermuda Triangle.

In 1974, Charles Berlitz, a proponent of the existence of anomalous phenomena in the Bermuda Triangle, published the book The Bermuda Triangle, which collected descriptions of various mysterious disappearances in the area. The book became a bestseller, and it was after its publication that the theory of the unusual properties of the Bermuda Triangle became especially popular. Later, however, it was shown that some of the facts in Berlitz's book were presented incorrectly.

In 1975, realist skeptic Lawrence David Kouchet ( English) published the book The Bermuda Triangle: Myths and Reality (Russian translation, M .: Progress, 1978), in which he argued that nothing supernatural and mysterious was happening in this area. This book is based on years of research on documents and interviews with eyewitnesses, which have revealed numerous factual errors and inaccuracies in the publications of supporters of the existence of the Bermuda Triangle mystery.

Incidents in the Bermuda Triangle

Proponents of the theory mention the disappearance of approximately 100 large ships and aircraft over the past hundred years. In addition to disappearances, there are reports of serviceable ships abandoned by the crew, and other unusual phenomena, such as instantaneous movements in space, anomalies with time, etc. Lawrence Kouchet and other researchers have shown that some of these cases occurred outside the Bermuda Triangle. About some incidents it was not possible to find any information in official sources.

Flight of Avengers (departure No. 19)

The most famous case mentioned in connection with the Bermuda Triangle is the disappearance of a flight of five Avenger-class torpedo bombers. These aircraft took off on December 5, 1945 from the US Naval Forces base in Fort Lauderdale and did not return back. Their wreckage has not been found.

According to Berlitz, a squadron of 14 experienced pilots mysteriously disappeared during a routine flight in clear weather over calm seas. It is also reported that in radio communications with the base, the pilots allegedly spoke of unexplained failures of navigation equipment and unusual visual effects - “we cannot determine the direction, and the ocean does not look like it usually does,” “we are sinking into white waters.” After the disappearance of the Avengers, other planes were sent to search for them, and one of them - the Martin Mariner seaplane - also disappeared without a trace.

According to Kusche, in fact, the link consisted of cadets who performed a training flight. Only their instructor, Lieutenant Taylor, was an experienced pilot, but he had only recently been transferred to Fort Lauderdale and was new to the flying area.

Recorded radio conversations say nothing about any mysterious phenomena. Lieutenant Taylor reported that he lost his bearings and both compasses failed him. Trying to determine his location, he mistakenly decided that the link was over the Florida Keys, south of Florida, so he was asked to orient himself by the sun and fly north. Subsequent analysis showed that, in fact, the planes were probably much to the east and, adhering to the course to the north, moved parallel to the coast. Poor radio conditions (interference from other radio stations) made it difficult to determine the exact position of the squadron.

After some time, Taylor decided to fly west, but failed to reach the coast, the aircraft ran out of fuel. The Avenger crews were forced to attempt a water landing. By this time it was already dark, and the sea, according to the reports of the ships that were then in that area, was very restless.

After it became known that the Taylor link was lost, other aircraft were sent to search for them, including two Martin Mariners. According to Kouchet, aircraft of this type had a certain disadvantage, which consisted in the fact that fuel vapors penetrated into the cabin and a spark was enough for an explosion to occur. The captain of the tanker Gaines Mills reported that he observed an explosion and falling debris and then found an oil slick on the surface of the sea.

C-119

The C-119 aircraft with 9 crew members disappeared on June 5, 1965 in the Bahamas. The exact time and place of the disappearance is unknown, and his search turned up nothing. Although the disappearance of a plane while flying across the Atlantic can be explained by many natural causes, this case is often associated with alien abduction.

theories

Proponents of the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle have put forward several dozen different theories to explain the mysterious phenomena that, in their opinion, occur there. These theories include space aliens or Atlanteans hijacking ships, travel through holes in time or rifts in space, and other paranormal causes. None of them have received confirmation yet. Other authors are trying to give a scientific explanation for these phenomena.

Their opponents argue that reports of mysterious events in the Bermuda Triangle are greatly exaggerated. Ships and aircraft are also dying in other parts of the world, sometimes without leaving a trace. A radio malfunction or the suddenness of a disaster can prevent the crew from transmitting a distress signal. Searching for debris at sea is not an easy task, especially in a storm or when the exact location of the disaster is not known. Given the very busy traffic in the Bermuda Triangle, frequent cyclones and storms, a large number of shallows, the number of disasters that have happened here that have not been explained is not unusually large. In addition, the notoriety of the Bermuda Triangle itself can lead to the fact that catastrophes are attributed to it, which in reality happened far beyond its borders, which introduces artificial distortions into the statistics.

Methane emissions

Several hypotheses have been proposed to explain the sudden death of ships and aircraft by gas emissions - for example, as a result of the decay of methane hydrate on the seabed. According to one of these hypotheses, large bubbles saturated with methane form in the water, in which the density is reduced so much that ships cannot swim and instantly sink. Some speculate that once airborne, methane could also cause aircraft crashes, for example, by lowering air density, which reduces lift and distorts altimeter readings. In addition, methane in the air can cause engines to stop.

Experimentally, the possibility of a fairly quick (within tens of seconds) flooding of a vessel that was at the border of a gas release was indeed confirmed if the gas is released in one bubble, the size of which is greater than or equal to the length of the vessel. However, the question of such gas emissions remains open. In addition, methane hydrate is found in other places in the world's oceans.

wandering waves

There are suggestions that the cause of the death of some ships, including those in the Bermuda Triangle, may be the so-called. wandering waves, which are believed to be up to 30 m high.

infrasound

It is assumed that under certain conditions, infrasound can be generated at sea, which affects the crew members, causing panic, as a result of which they leave the ship.
