Park of culture roundabout. Park Kultury (metro station, Koltsevaya line)

The station is located on the intersecting lines - Sokolnicheskaya and Koltsevaya - of the Moscow metro. It was opened in 1935, and it became part of the stations of the Circle Line in 1950. It is located on the territory of the Khamovniki district in the central part of Moscow.

It was during its commissioning that large parts of other stations belonging to the 1st launch site were commissioned. Then, at the end of the 20th century, the Park Kultury (metro) station was part of the Park Kultury - Kurskaya section.

origin of name

Many names were proposed for the station, even when it was still only in the project: Krymskaya, Krymsky Most, Ostozhenka, Chudovka and many others.

Finally, the choice of the final name was influenced by the location near the Central Park station, named after the writer M. Gorky, although the "Park Kultury" (metro) is located on the opposite bank of the Moscow River. In the very first periods of operation of the metro, the station had the same name with the park ("Park of Culture named after Gorky").

From the history of the station

As noted above, the very first line of the capital's metro was opened in May 1935. It ran from Sokolniki to Park Kultury, with a small branch to the Smolenskaya station (this is the Arbat line, which in 1937 reached the Kievskaya station, and at the same time began to cross the Moscow River over the bridge).

Theoretically, the station "Park Kultury" (metro) was designed to carry passengers in the direction of the park. Gorky, although it turned out to be located in the distance. Only later this peculiarity of the metro (distance from the park) was noticed.

The chief architect I. E. Rozhin put forward the main task in front of him - to visually lighten the rather massive structure of the station's huge pylons (it is deep). It should be noted that such a problem almost always faces each new construction work in the subway.

The Rozhins proposed to cut a profiled arch inside each of the pylons, visually dividing the very massive supports into four corner columns, on which the vault itself lies (this is how the passengers see it).

"Park Kultury" (metro) Circle Line: description

According to the technical characteristics, this station is a deep pylon station (up to 40 meters) with 3 vaults. The size of the main hall is 9.5 m in diameter.

Gray marble pylons are decorated with 26 wonderful bas-reliefs (work by S. M. Rabinovich) made of white marble, representing a picture of the recreation of Soviet youth. Moreover, 12 of all the bas-reliefs located in the side halls duplicate the same bas-reliefs located in the central hall. It turns out that only two of them remained unduplicated. Surprisingly beautiful stucco decoration decorates the ceiling.

The Park Kultury metro station (Koltsevaya Line) is mostly decorated with marble and granite. The track walls are covered from below with labradorite, and from above - with black marble. The ceiling is decorated with magnificent stucco ornaments. The entire floor is tiled with gray and black granite slabs in such a way that it all appears to the eye as a beautiful carpet ornament. The central hall is illuminated by magnificent hexagonal chandeliers. There is also a dark red color, for example, in the design of the plinth (Salieti marble).

The metro station "Park Kultury" has a passenger traffic of more than 32 thousand people at the entrance alone.

Not far from the station itself, from the tracks of the main Koltsevaya line, there is a branch to the Sokolnicheskaya line. There is also a service point for trains on the local stretch (between Park Kultury and Kievskaya).

Metro station Sokolnicheskaya line

The station of the 1st stage, built in an open way, is an architectural work of G. Krutikov.

The metro station "Park Kultury" (Sokolnicheskaya line) is three-span, with columns and with a depth of up to 10.5 meters. Built here in two rows of 23 square columns, covered with marble-like yellow-brown limestone. The distance between them is 7 meters.

The cladding of the track walls is made of white ceramics, and the floors are lined with black granite. Also, gray, white marble and metlakh red tiles were used in the decoration of the station. Lighting is provided by central fluorescent lamps.

Lobby

Metro Park Kultury (Moscow) has southern and northern vestibules, which are beautiful in their own way. The southern one is decorated with 4 bas-reliefs placed on the vault of the ceiling. Through this vestibule you can enter the city on Zubovsky Boulevard and Komsomolsky Prospekt.

The north one, decorated with a mosaic panel depicting the great writer Maxim Gorky, leads to Ostozhenka Street.

An interesting fact is that the original name of the station was shortened in 1980 before the start of the Moscow Summer Olympics-80 due to the fact that the names had to be announced in English.

Thus, since those very times, the station has remained with that abbreviated name - "Park Kultury".

The metro station "Park Kultury" (Koltsevaya Line) is located in the very center of Moscow. Both among native Muscovites and among people who occasionally visit the capital, it is difficult to find those who are not familiar with it. This is not surprising, since we are talking about one of the oldest stations of the Moscow Metro, which came into operation along with the Circle Line. But we should not forget that it started from the Park Kultury station. It opened back in 1935 as a terminus

Symbol of its time

The name for the station was chosen from several options, such as the bridge "and" Chudovka ". But the determining factor was the location on the opposite bank of culture. The metro is located at a considerable distance from it, but it was believed that the main flow of passengers would be directed to this object. For a long time, the station was called "Gorky Park of Culture". Fundamental changes in the metro scheme took place in 1950, with the commissioning of the Circle Line of the Metro, one of the stations of which is "Park Kultury". The metro received a whole network of interchange nodes located along of the entire Garden Ring. And the station "Park Kultury" became a transfer station, connecting the Koltsevaya and Sokolnicheskaya metro lines. Now there are many complaints about such a scheme, its irrationality, but at that time such a decision was fully justified.

In architectural terms, the station is an excellent example of its era and is on the same stylistic level as other stations on the Circle Line. It was precisely such spectacular imperial splendor, according to Stalin's plan, that Moscow should have been distinguished. Metro "Park Kultury" gives a very visual representation of this style. This is a three-vaulted pylon station of deep laying. The combination of two stations of different lines, radial and ring, was very successfully solved. They do not contradict one another, despite the 15 years separating them. The decoration uses contrasting marbles and sculptural marble bas-reliefs in the style of working people relaxing in the park.

It is interesting to note that both the complete rejection of this style and the absurd attempts to imitate it were not successful. In the Moscow metro, especially in its peripheral part, there is a lot of evidence of this. Apparently, the era cannot be repeated.

On the surface of the earth

The metro station "Park Kultury" has long and organically blended into Moscow reality. Its lobbies will lead us to Krymskaya Square and Zubovsky Boulevard, nearby is the old Ostozhenka Street with the most expensive real estate in the center of Moscow. This place is always crowded, both in lobbies and passages, and on the surface of the earth. An endless flow of passengers is sent to different parts of the city through the interchange station and to the city center along Ostozhenka. A lot of people move across the Crimean bridge to the historical Park of Culture. The metro performs the task for which it was built in the thirties of the last century.

St.m. Park Kultury (Circle Line) June 22nd, 2015

Park Kultury station is not as bright as many pompous stations of the Circle Line, in some ways it feels like a metro station. "Dobryninskaya". Small, with oppressive vaults - claustrophobic horror. I think this station is gloomy. However, let's go and see. Maybe this is a misleading impression.

TTX of the station.

The current pavilion was built on the site of the southern vestibule of the metro station. "Park Kultury" Sokolnicheskaya line. A similar story happened with Komsomolskaya, for example. Since the Central Park of Culture and Culture bears the name of Gorky, there is a bas-relief of the writer on the blank wall of the platform part. There is also an image of Gorky on the "Park Kultury" Sokolnicheskaya Line, but more on that later.

Rare photo - people turnstiles. Then it was impossible to take pictures in the subway - it is now expanse.

platform room. Draw attention to the benches, which now do not exist.

But the train arrives at the "Park Kultury". Judging by the people - a staged photo.

Also staged. Children at the station

In 2011-2012 the station was closed and reconstructed. Here are some unique photos.

Work in progress in the lobby.

1. The pavilion is pompous as always. But for some reason there is no architectural lighting, in the evening it looks rustic.

2. There is a passage on the side. Pockmarked built tents and fenced off the pavilion with a fence. I hope this will all be removed in time.

3. On the side facade of the door to the exit. It's also decorative. Bas-relief above the doors, on the sides of the niche in which there is nothing.

4. But from the back of the pavilion it is unexpectedly interesting.

5. There is another way out.

6. And the most interesting, as in an Orthodox church - the altar. Or rather, the back of the escalator hall. Here a small overlap is the "tail" of the escalator slope. It's great that, for example, a decorative cornice, put on the top of the pavilion, is also present here, although it would be possible to score on this, still few people will admire
that part of the pavilion.

7. Here you can look through the window and see the escalator hall from an unusual angle.

8. Entrance group on two floors made of wood. All the stations of the Circle Line are architectural monuments, so no one here, out of stupidity, will now install stainless steel doors, everything must be authentic.

9. Inside the pavilion there is a central hall, which has a square plan. Top dome. This is a view of the entrance to the pavilion. On the left is an escalator up from the Park Kultury station on the Sokolnicheskaya line, on the right a staircase leads to the station.

10. Right exit to the city.

11. Here you can see how people rise from the transition. A steep gilded chandelier hangs from each side of the central hall. By the way, after the repair in 2011-2012, not only the escalators were changed here, in fact, for the sake of this, the repair was started, but also the validators. As I have already noted, they fit perfectly into historical interiors.

12. From the opposite stained glass window and on the right is another exit.

13. A tantamaresque was placed here for the anniversary. You can feel like an electric train driver.

14. Exit towards the back of the pavilion, see photo 5.

15. Chandelier.

15. Dome.

16. Escalator hall. There are new escalators and beautiful floor lamps.

17. I don't know, I liked the chandeliers.

18. We go down to the station. The main problem, which makes it seem that the station is small and gloomy, is the decoration of the walls with gray stone.

19. Deep station and massive pylons here. In order to somehow make them easier, at least visually, the architects decided to make arches that repeat the arches between the pylons. Medallions with scenes of recreation and cultural leisure of Soviet workers were placed in these arches - a park of culture and recreation. The frames are gilded, the ventilation grids above the arches between the pylons are also gilded. In the side halls, the vaults of the ceiling are not decorated in any way.

20. Gilded Gorky at the end. There are original lamps at the station. There is an intricate pattern on the ceiling in the central hall.

21. There are no benches in the central hall, which we saw in the archive photo, there are benches only in the end parts of the side halls. Luxurious wooden benches with backs.

22. Moreover, the same floor lamps are installed here as in the lobby, see photo 16.

23. There is a feeling that if a light stone was used in the decoration, it would be cooler.

24. View of the central hall. Looks good on the photo. Even on the floor there is not just a "chessboard" here, a simple, but still ornament is laid out. But live still, the station gives me bouts of claustrophobia. Maybe because there is only one exit upstairs, it is also a transfer to the Sokolnicheskaya line, and as soon as the trains arrive, everyone rushes to the escalator and a traffic jam forms. Nightmare.

25. By the way, gray Rusich looks quite organic here.

One thing surprised me. All stations of the Circle Line in one way or another glorified the father of the peoples, comrade. Stalin. His bas-reliefs, sculptures and mosaics with him decorated almost all the stations of the Ring. I didn't find any mention here. I didn't find anything in archive photos either. Did the architects not honor the Leader with attention?

P.S.
All archive photos found on a wonderful site

There is a cultural park over the river,
I walk in it and spit only in the bins I,
But you, of course, do not understand, there, behind the stove,
Because you are uncultured darkness.

How to get to Gorky Park.
TsPKiO them. Gorky or simply Gorky Park (in anti-Soviet “Park of Culture named after Rest”) is a very famous place in Moscow. Although it is located near the city center, the search query “how to get to Gorky Park” is very common in Yandex. To meet the needs of inexperienced tourists, we offer a detailed photo guide with instructions on how to find the treasured park not on the plan, but on the ground in Moscow. At the same time, we attach maps and reveal several ways to reach point B (Gorky Park) from various points A.

METHOD 1. GET TO GORKY PARK BY CAR

The option is quite possible. The address should be put in the navigator - Krymsky Val, 9. This method is good on a weekday.

On weekends and holidays, the parking lot in front of Gorky Park is full of cars, it is very difficult to find a free place there. Unless you arrive early in the morning.

METHOD 2. GET TO GORKY PARK BY METRO

There are options here.
Option a.
The most convenient and shortest way to get to Gorky Park: from the metro station Oktyabrskaya ring road.

Leaving the train car, we focus on the sign: “exit to the city to Kaluga Square and to Leninsky Prospekt”. The street Shabolovka mentioned on the index does not interest us.

We go up the escalator, go out into the street and see the lively Kaluga Square with a monument to Lenin.

Immediately turn left and after a few steps left again. The sign tells you to go straight ahead. But not 600 meters, to the entrance to the park - 250 meters.

Option b. You can get to Gorky Park from the station metro station Oktyabrskaya radial.

I would advise you to immediately go to the ring line and go into the city from the ring line, go closer from there.

But just in case, I’ll tell you how to get from the radial to the desired point B, that is, to Gorky Park. We leave the city at the sign "Kaluga Square and Bolshaya Yakimanka Street."

We go upstairs, we go out to Bolshaya Yakimanka street.

We need to cross Yakimanka through the underpass. Turn left and after a few steps you will see an underground passage.

You need to exit it to the left. As soon as you go up, there will be a Japanese restaurant on your right.

You will reach the corner of the restaurant, look to the right into the distance. You will see the fence of Gorky Park.

You need to cross the wide street (Garden Ring). Focus on the brown building MISiS (Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys).

At the ground crossing, after waiting for the green signal of the traffic light, cross the road.

When you cross the street, immediately turn right.

It is already very close to Gorky Park, now you only need to go straight ahead.

Option c. Get to Gorky Park from the metro station Park of culture roundabout.

There is only one exit to the city at this station. We follow the sign "exit to the city".

Having risen on the escalator upward, we find ourselves in the ground vestibule of the station.

Here we will stop and wait for those who used the red line and got off at the Radial Park Kultury station.

Option d. Walk to Gorky Park from the metro station Park Kultury radial.

We focus on the sign ""transition to the ring line".

You need to climb up the stairs in the center of the hall.

And go down the narrow corridor.

Climb up the escalator.

And you will find yourself in the ground lobby of the station.

Here we are already waiting for those who came along the circle line.

Together we leave the doors to the light of God. In front of us is Zubovsky Boulevard, on its opposite side there are low gray old buildings. These are former grocery stores, but we only need them as a guide.

There is a trolleybus stop on our side of the boulevard. You can wait for trolleybus B or 10 and drive one stop across the Crimean bridge. But I promised to take you on foot. Therefore, we turn right. In front of us is an overpass.

You need to go under it and cross the road at THREE traffic lights. First one.

Then the second.

Once you have crossed the road at the second traffic light, turn left immediately. Look on the opposite side of the road for a traffic light. (Landmark - Katkov Lyceum Diplomatic Academy). The zebra crossing is NOT marked, there is a road sign “crossing” and a traffic light. While waiting, the traffic light is red.

Now you can, the green light is on.

We crossed the road and immediately turn right, onto the Crimean bridge.

Now everything is simple - just straight. You will see from the bridge.

(I talked about them in, in it -). If you don't need to go to the pier, go to the end of the bridge. You can enter the park through the side gate.

You can walk to the main entrance (it was renovated in the summer of 2014).

Now I will tell you my favorite method to achieve point B.

METHOD 3. GET TO GORKY PARK BY TROLLEYBUS

Option a. From the Park Kultury metro station (from the ring line there is only one exit to the city, from the radial red line - towards Krymskaya Square, Komsomolsky Prospekt and Zubovskaya Square). Wait for trolleybuses B or 10 without crossing the road and drive one stop.

Option b. From metro station Smolenskaya Fillet line. It is convenient to go to it from the Kyiv Koltsevaya station. Or from the stations Arbatskaya, Biblioteka im. Lenin and Borovitskaya. Interchange stations are marked with red arrows, Smolenskaya is circled with an oval.

There is only one exit to the city at the Smolenskaya station on the Filevskaya line.

We went upstairs, in front of you is a square.

Turn left and left again around the corner of the house. You will immediately see a trolleybus stop. We skip number 79!

Trolleybuses B and 10 will suit you. Get off at the bus stop “TsPKiO im. Gorky" right behind the Crimean bridge.

Option b.You can also get to the trolleybus stop from the station Smolenskaya Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya branch .

The exit to the city is also the only one. Once on the street, immediately turn left and, through the yellow arch, exit to the Garden Ring.

Look ahead and a little to the right - at the yellow residential building arch. I.V. Zholtovsky with a turret.

The trolleybus stop is located at the near corner of this house. Those with good eyesight can see it in the picture below.

But only their own people know the underground passage through Sadovoe, strangers do not go there.

I'm giving a turnout. You came out of the arch, turn right and cross the road at the ground crossing (Karmanitsky lane).

On the right side is a long yellow two-story building. Pass the cafe "Shesh-besh" and, before reaching the signboard "Pizza World", turn right into the arch of this house.

This is the underpass.

You go upstairs, in front of you is the Smolenskaya metro station of the Filevskaya line.

Around the corner of the house is a trolleybus stop. Yeah, now the "ten" has come up, we're going.
