• Accessible meaning of text and illustrations.

I know that there will definitely be those among readers who will say that books with high-quality illustrations are more expensive. This is true, because they require much more voluminous and professional work of illustrators, and therefore more highly paid. For those who cannot afford expensive publications, I recommend taking note of Makhaon Publishing House, which produces a large assortment of inexpensive books for babies of acceptable quality.

With regard to content, many go to extremes, someone focuses on toy books, someone abuses educational and highly cultural content. I consider the best books with an interesting plot and images that can take a child into their world. It is with such reading that fantasy develops to the maximum, and with it thinking. This happens due to the fact that the child begins to imagine this world, its objects and construct it mentally. In fact, with fascinating reading, the child receives regular high-quality practice of mental operations.

"Little Christmas Tree" Luke Koopmans (Labyrinth, My-shop,)

Description: This book is part of the Luke Koopmans trilogy, which also includes The Mitten and Snail, bee and frog looking for snow(they are described below). The format of the book is a square with sides equal to the length of a regular notebook. 28 coated pages. Feature of the entire series of Koopmans books in chic illustrations.

Plot: The Christmas tree wanted to become beautiful and chose outfits from inappropriate materials. The golden dress was stolen. The crystal robe was broken. Of course, in the end, needles turned out to be the best outfit.

Impression: A very pleasant book. For two-year-old Yana, the book fit perfectly - accessible text + atmospheric illustrations, but did not cause a stir. I guess the problem is the lack of bunnies, cats, etc. 😀 . Despite this nuance, I think books with similar illustrations in the children's library are necessary, because it is better to educate the taste for beauty from early childhood.

Luke Koopmans: Mitten (Labyrinth , My-shop ,)

Description: Another book in the Luke Koopmans trilogy. The format of the book is a square with a long side equal to the length of a regular notebook. 28 coated pages. The peculiarity of the entire Koopmans series of books is in his chic illustrations.

Plot: The plot is based on the Russian folk tale "Mitten". An analogue of the tower, only the animals chose a mitten as a dwelling. By the way, in this version of the tale, the bear does not destroy the dwelling. For emotional two-year-olds, this can be important 😀 .

Impression: This book lived up to expectations. Beautiful illustrations, a minimum of text - a great combination for kids from one and a half years old.

Impression of 2016: excellent, long-running book. We are re-reading it this winter.

Luke Koopmans: A snail, a bee and a frog are looking for snow (Labyrinth, My-shop,)

Description: The last book in the Luke Koopmans trilogy. The format of the book is a square with a long side equal to the length of a regular notebook. 28 coated pages. The peculiarity of the entire Koopmans series of books is in his chic illustrations.

Plot: Almost the entire plot is told in the title of the book 🙂 . One can only add that when the heroes found winter and properly froze, they were saved by nature in the form of a woman - they were transferred to warmth. Transfer methods are not specified. I think it means hibernation.

Impression: It is worth noting that most of the action takes place in the summer. There are only two "winter spreads" in the book. At the heart of the text is the description of snow, the sensations of animals. This book is educational and has a low level of interest. I think a rare kid is interested in someone's feelings when achieving goals. I would recommend this book for kids at least two years old just for variety. The illustrations, like the other books in this series, are excellent.

Impressions of 2016: This book, despite the small size of the text, is not accessible to a child, at least until 3-3.5 years old. This year we tried it out. The book on the right examples introduces the child to the world around him.

Impressions 2017: masterpiece illustrations, high price, boring text.

"Chelovetkin" Julia Donaldson (Labyrinth, My-shop,)

Description: This book is from the popular series "Mashinkin's creations" with illustrations by Axel Scheffler and translation by Marina Boroditskaya. The text is in poetic form with a rhyme easy for children to understand. The usual format for this series: slightly larger than A4, 32 coated pages.

Plot: The fabulous creature chelovetkin (apparently, the average between a person and a branch) was confused with an ordinary branch and got into a number of troubles. Events begin to unfold in the summer. Chelovetkin is separated from his family. The story ends happily at Christmas, when the man helps Santa.

Impression: After Julie Donaldson's The Gruffalo, I had high expectations from her Mankind. Given the large number of positive reviews and recommendations, I expected a miracle, and the book turned out to be the most ordinary. At the same time, I can't call it uninteresting. I really like Axel Scheffler's illustrations and I think they are right for kids. They have everything you need - clear contours, competent accents, the overall harmony of the image. Yana also did not arouse much enthusiasm for the book. Perhaps this is due to my disappointment. Maybe the chain of events is still difficult to perceive and a closer acquaintance is required. Although when reading, I always comment on difficult and unfamiliar moments. I think that over time this book will fall in love and become a full member of our library.

Impressions of 2016: I changed my opinion about this book in 2016. This strange book contains a very correct idea - more about it and other Donaldson books. Nowadays, there are quite a few books with meaning. Mostly there are direct teachings in the text and it looks rude, such books are so pleasant to read, the plot is lost against the background of the teachings. The second option is blank books. In general, Donaldson books can be labeled "Caution" or "Attention! books for those who like to think. All Donaldson's books have meaning, and in some it is deeply hidden and you have to work hard to unravel it :-).

Impression: The overall impression is pleasant. But I am not a fan of overly bright, rough and sugary illustrations and tend to choose books with more harmonious images.

Impressions 2017: I no longer see this book in our library. Rude, dull, empty.

New Year's cuttings from ROSMEN from the series "My cheerful friends" (My-shop,) and "New Year's book for the little ones" (My-shop)

Description: These are two very similar series with colorful cardboard cutouts containing New Year's rhymes. . Series "My Merry Friends" Made of high quality thick cardboard and contains 12 pages in each book. In our copy of this series - the book "Santa Claus" there are 4 poems of classical poetry for kids, a Russian folk nursery rhyme and a riddle. Series "New Year's book for the little ones" simpler, thinner cardboard and fewer pages (8).

Impression: Since we are lovers of reading avidly, such books are of no interest to Yana. Such books are relevant for those who are just starting to instill a love of reading.

Impression: These cartons seem to me more successful for kids under three than the two previous series from ROSMEN. Correct accents are made in their illustrations, restrained tones are chosen, which allows them to be viewed with interest. ROSMEN's illustrations are oversaturated, interest in them is quickly lost. They can be compared to sugary sweets. It is much more pleasant to eat moderately sweet desserts with a whole range of different flavors.

Fairy Forest (Labyrinth)

Opdescription: A5 size book with puffy cover and strings. With beautiful illustrations by the talented Ionaitis Olga. The book has 16 pages, which contain parts of one poem by Lyudmila Ulanova.

Impression: According to the description, everything is impeccable, but I have a lot of complaints about this book :-D. When ordering, I did not pay attention to its small size. If you look at the photos of spreads, it seems that it is quite a nice book. And so it could well be if the book format was A4. But in reality, it turned out to be oversaturated with cute elements of bad taste. Take a look at the spread below. On it you can find: an illustration with many colorful objects, two types of frames, hares and squirrels, etc. I have the impression that a child was allowed near the graphic editor.

Fairy tale stories about amazing adventures and friendship of extraordinary characters turned out to be so interesting and entertaining that we wanted to publish our own book, which also included photographs of handicrafts made with soul. Parents showed creativity, imagination and skill. This material will be interesting not only for children, but also for teachers and parents. It can be used both at home and in kindergarten. And then Santa Claus took the mitten, called the animals with him, and together with grandfather went to the kids to carry gifts.

Koshchei made a wish for himself and put his hand into his mitten. But the mitten did not fulfill the wish!
And the Snow Maiden told them:

Koschey and Baba Yaga thought how badly they had acted. They became ashamed.
And they asked the Snow Maiden and the Bunny:
- Can we go with you and return the mitten to Santa Claus?
And they all went together. We came to the tower of Santa Claus. Baba Yaga asked for forgiveness for not immediately returning the mitten, but taking it for herself. And Koschei the Deathless asked for forgiveness for starting to quarrel with Baba Yaga. Father Frost forgave them. And Baba Yaga and Koschey promised to be kind and well-mannered. And the bunny asked Santa Claus:
Is it true that the glove is magic?
-Truth! Santa Claus replied. - Oma fulfills the wishes of only kind and well-mannered children and animals.

Koschei the Deathless was the first to make a wish:
- I want a beautiful, painted and elegant raincoat for myself, so that the children would be more afraid of me.
And Baba Yaga said:
- I want my big, crooked nose to become small and not scary, otherwise the kids are afraid of me, but I want them to be friends with me.
Santa Claus asked:
- Well, now you, bunny, what do you want? Think!
- Can I have carrots and cabbage? - asked the bunny.
And there were two huge bags of treats for the bunny, a cloak for Koshchei and a beautiful nose for Baba Yaga!

And the Snow Maiden said:
