I can only reach the final goal. Motivation

Everyone knows that our success largely depends on whether we can set goals and achieve them. But what do we call purpose? Some people mistakenly confuse this concept with "dream" and "task." Because of this, many difficulties arise, because the ability to achieve a goal is useless if we do not know what exactly we are striving for.

If the goal is set correctly, then it turns into a kind of beacon that allows you to make your way to it along a long and difficult path. And then the question of how to achieve the goal, disappears by itself.

Understanding the concepts - dream, task and goal

To avoid confusion with similar concepts, you need to define each of them. Sometimes it seems to a person that he has a goal, but he does not take any action. He doesn't feel any enthusiasm. As a rule, in such a situation it is not a goal, but a dream.

A dream is what you want, but a step-by-step plan to realize your desire has not yet been created. Maybe the person has not yet decided whether he really needs it. Dreams also include those desires that we consider impossible.

The goal is always specific. A person strives for a certain object or state. To achieve your goals, tasks, you need to write them down on paper. A successful person is always planning the steps that will lead him to what he wants. If the head of a large company only "dreams", then his organization will quickly go bankrupt. Anyone who seeks to achieve their goals and objectives always writes down their desires.

A task is a sub-item, a “step” on the way to a goal. The organization usually has a list of current tasks. By the way, if you want to set a goal, to succeed in some business, it is better to focus on how it happens in commercial enterprises. After all, planning and following the plan is extremely important there.

The owners of organizations set a goal, and employees perform each of the tasks leading to it in turn. Heads of departments control the process, while doing their own personal tasks.

The ability to achieve your goals is largely determined by whether you can control yourself. After all, the employees working at the enterprise are motivated by the bosses, and being left alone with ourselves, we often begin to be lazy. Successful people know how to achieve their goals, and this allows them to become the masters of their lives.

No wonder they say that a person who does not listen to himself is forced to listen to others and obey them. The role of unconscious priorities cannot be ignored. For example, you strive to make your figure more toned, but instead of jogging in the morning, watch your favorite series. You made the choice unconsciously.

If you notice something like this, then most likely your ability to achieve your goals leaves much to be desired. As a rule, if we are talking about a true goal, then it is easy for a person to move towards it. If he feels some tension, then, most likely, the desired does not inspire him.

By the way, psychology is also important here. You can achieve your goal if you figure out whether your desire is false or true. For example, you notice that your neighbor is driving a brand new car and decide that you need to buy a car too. However, buying a car requires a lot of money, and you don’t want to work more than usual.

This is a classic example of how a person gets depressed. There is no point in trying to get something out of envy of others.

It may turn out that your true desires are completely different or completely opposite. The true goal will be accompanied by a sincere desire to achieve it, and it will not matter to you at all what your relatives and others think about it. The ability to achieve goals that are true brings a quiet and calm joy, and satisfied false desires make you even more unhappy and devastated.

Consider the types of goals:

Goals can be long term. To reach them, you will have to complete a number of tasks. We are talking about global goals. As a rule, such an approach is required if we want to achieve our goals, business objectives, communication with people, etc. A long-term goal should be a powerful “beacon” for you so that over time you do not have the desire to give up and give up.

The next type is short-term goals. Achieving them takes much less time and requires a limited number of actions. As a rule, the process takes no more than six months. By the way, a short-term goal can be one of the stages to achieve a long-term one.

There are also difficult targets. To achieve them, it will take a lot of time and effort. Their peculiarity is that they will have to achieve their goals and tasks in a short time.

Simplified Goals. As a rule, they are put by those who cannot achieve their goals, tasks for a long period and quickly lose their enthusiasm.

Unattainable goals. They are dreamy and romantic. A person who sets himself such a goal, as a rule, is prone to fantasizing. However, there is nothing wrong with this. If you achieve your goals and objectives, you can achieve incredible heights.

  • Leadership Development: Ways to Change Your Mind
  • l>

To achieve your business goals, you need to set them right.

How to achieve your business goals? First of all, you need to understand what kind of result you are striving for. Communicate this information to employees, as they need to understand what they need to do in order to achieve their goals and objectives. The main distinguishing feature of business planning is cyclicality. The results that were achieved during the implementation of the previous plan determine the tasks for the next period.

A common mistake leaders make is not setting specific goals. This situation is fraught with the fact that instead of the main tasks, employees are engaged in the implementation of less significant, but easier ones.

For example, in 2009, the leaders of one company took steps to achieve planned turnover. They had to sell $7 million worth of goods within five months. The plan was developed by the CEO. He assumed that twenty employees of the company would call potential customers for two months, as well as communicate with customers who had previously purchased products.

Employees needed to know if customers would upgrade and expand their fleet of computers and purchase new software. The results of the calls showed that clients were ready to close deals worth at least $22 million.

The callers would capture the customer's needs if they showed even the slightest interest, and then pass the data on to the customer service department. Employees of the telephone sales department did everything possible to achieve their goals and objectives, and they coped with it. But, as it turned out later, it was possible to sell products only for 2.5 million dollars.

The problem was that in order to meet the targets, employees were deleting old records and creating new ones that contained an overly optimistic estimate of the likelihood of sales. For example, when calling a client from Yekaterinburg, it was possible to find out that he was going to make a purchase in the amount of $ 20 million in the next three months, and for $ 600 million in 2-3 years.

Data of 600 million dollars were entered into the system within three months. That is, the main goal (sales) was replaced by another one (introducing information about the probable amount of transactions in the future into the system).

Stick to the formula: "goal - mission - policy"

Eric Blondeau, General Director of the Russian network of hypermarkets "Mosmart", Moscow

The strategy is built on corporate resources. It will be optimal if you adhere to the formula "goal - mission - policy".

It is important that the purpose of the company is clearly formulated and known to every employee. Our goal is to increase the capitalization of the company. The goal is based on the mission, and it is based on the 4 postulates of our organization:

    1. Clients of the multi-format retail chain "Mosmart" are provided with a level of service that meets the most demanding requirements.

    2. The company strives for complete customer satisfaction.

    3. The company is an innovator that uses improved methods of working with clients.

    4. We create favorable conditions for the professional growth of employees.

The mission is a kind of foundation. Mosmart's policy defines management priorities. Management is focused on people, assets, finances and goods. Every employee trained in the company knows what the company's policy is. It completely defines management. The ability to achieve the goals set by Mosmart employees, the architecture of the company, etc., also depend on politics.

Employees can help you achieve your goals

For example, you have decided on a goal. Now you need to involve employees in achieving it and assess whether they can implement it. The best way is to present the goal and then brainstorm. It is important to take criticism calmly. Just let employees have their say. The ability to achieve the set goals, using the labor of subordinates, is the highest aerobatics of managerial activity.

In one company turnover fell in 2003-2004. Some employees were fired, and the rest were in an indeterminate state. Their task was to develop a new market. There were about 20 employees left. We held a meeting, reported on the current situation of the company, and outlined the main goal.

Each employee was asked to propose their own way, which would allow them to achieve their goals and objectives. Employees prepared presentations with their vision of solving the problem.

A week later, management had twenty projects, each of which described the specifics of a particular area of work. At the general meeting, it was possible to identify the most valuable proposals of employees and create a master plan. Further, individual goals for each employee were identified. It is important that the employees, in fact, set them for themselves and were already ready to move on to their implementation.

The updated strategy of the company seriously affected sales, during the first three months, revenues fell sharply. But the employees knew what was happening and just continued to work quietly. The management of the company, having assessed all the circumstances in which the employees found themselves, found opportunities for their material support. As a result, sales increased by 35% by the end of the year.

Set goals based on results achieved

Vladimir Mozhenkov, CEO, Audi Center Taganka, Moscow

When setting goals for yourself and subordinates, you can build on what results have already been achieved. For example, last year you sold goods for such and such an amount. This means that this year the figures should be slightly higher, but not lower. You can also set goals based on available resources.

For example, if the credit of the enterprise is equal to 100% of own funds, then the plan should be drawn up taking this into account. And, of course, you can plan, just based on your own ambitions.

The goal must be numeric. You need to serve so many customers, sell so many products, etc. The goal must be specific. For example, you decide to sell 2,000 cars by the end of the year. You will have to track sales throughout the year in order to understand whether you are coping or not. If the goal does not have a clear formulation, then it is impossible to achieve it. After the main goal is defined, you need to set tasks for a shorter period, for example, a month.

The progressive development of the company is one of the main signs of successful management. Let's take the same example. You decide to sell 2,000 cars in a year. In total, more than 10,000 cars were sold in Moscow. That is, the share of your sales is 20% of the entire market. It is necessary to pay attention to two nuances. You have to sell 2000, even if only 2500 cars will be sold in Moscow.

The second nuance is that after the goal is achieved, you need to assess the situation. For example, you sold 2,000 cars, but in total 12,000 cars were sold in Moscow. That is, the remaining 10,000 were bought from your competitors, which means that you are underworking somewhere. To achieve your goals and objectives, you need to constantly raise the "bar".

In addition, in order to achieve the goals and objectives set, you need to be able to motivate employees, convey information to them so that they consider the company's priorities as their own. Without a developed corporate culture, a well-organized reward system, a general atmosphere of trust, personal communication between subordinates and the leader, this is impossible.

It is necessary to be able to assess the potential of an employee and determine its priorities. The leader should be an example for his subordinates.

How to “objectify” your dream in order to achieve your goal

In order to achieve your goals and objectives, you need to work them out well. Write your goal on paper, because it is harder to manage your thoughts than what is clearly articulated. You can draw whatever you want. Remember forever: what is written on paper can be realized. If you keep everything in your head, then it is almost impossible to achieve your goals, tasks.

For a desire to become a goal, it must meet four parameters: concreteness, measurability, date, reality. Let's get acquainted with each of them in more detail.

      The first is specificity.

Many people say “I want to achieve my goals”, but at the same time they cannot specifically articulate what exactly they want. Consider an example.

Wrong option: I want to buy a car.

Correct option: I want to buy a white Peugeot 407 car.

The first option has no specifics, it is more like a dream. The second option is more clearly formulated.

      The second is measurability.

This parameter is the subject of much debate. Indeed, measuring some things is difficult. For example, how do you measure the quality of a subordinate's work?

If you want to always achieve your goals and objectives, then you need to learn how to use qualitative and quantitative parameters. You need to answer the question: "How much to hang in grams?". If you manage to make the goal measurable, then half the battle is already done.

It is sometimes difficult for a business owner to evaluate the quality of work of employees. For example, how to understand how well the negotiations were held? This will require an expert assessment or case study. Let's consider this method.

Let's say you need to evaluate how well employees serve customers. To do this, you can use the method of peer review. This means that every person leaving the store is asked to evaluate the quality of the employee's work. Thus, it is possible to determine how customers perceive the service, whether they are satisfied with it, whether the staff is working well.

By the way, measurability in business has its own nuances. When determining it, the error must be taken into account. For example, you need to increase sales by 12%. The correct wording would be: “increase sales by at least 8% and a maximum of 14%. The planned indicator is 12%.

Having a range makes a person feel comfortable. For example, a manager knows that he needs to increase sales by 10%. And until he reaches this indicator, he will be afraid that he will not be able to do this. The manager will be haunted by a feeling of dissatisfaction with himself.

Don't know how to achieve your goals? Make sure the goal has three metrics:

Minimum. It can be reached without any difficulty.

    Plan. Desired score.

Maximum. The indicator that is perceived as achievable, but has never been demonstrated.

If you define three boundaries, then it is much easier to achieve your goals, tasks, because they create a field of motivation. For example, an employee reaches the first value and is happy that he succeeded. He is no longer afraid that he will not cope with the task, he has a passion. He wants to reach the target, and then the maximum bar.

If the goal has three measurable boundaries, then this means that it will be easier to achieve, and the employee will be motivated to complete the plan.

      The third is the date.

How to achieve the goal? Always include a due date for the plan. For example, you want to buy a Peugeot 407 car, then you need to formulate the goal as follows: “buy a Peugeot 407 by November 2016”. If you just dream of buying and do not set any deadlines, then you are unlikely to succeed in achieving your goals and tasks. Consider two formulations:

The wrong option is "complete the task within two weeks."

The first option assumes that you have a time frame of 14 days. But, the catch is that for your brain 14 days will be perceived in the same way: both on the day when you set the task and five days after that.

The second option differs in that it indicates a specific date. The person feels that the deadline is gradually approaching.

Here it is necessary to mention one more nuance. If you define the deadline for completing a task as a certain period of time, then you will have to keep in mind not only its duration, but also the date when you determined it. The peculiarity of human nature lies in the fact that if there is an opportunity to forget something, then we will definitely forget about it. Therefore, in order to achieve the goals and objectives set, it is necessary to clearly formulate the desired result with an indication of the date of its achievement.

      The fourth is reality.

In order to achieve the set goals and objectives, it is important to perceive them as real and feasible. For example, a professional athlete can do 120 push-ups in one minute. For him, this goal is absolutely real. But for a person who is not involved in sports, at the moment it is not feasible. Therefore, if you want to achieve your goals and objectives, you need to learn how to adequately assess your strengths.

The employee perceives the task of "increase sales by 1%" as feasible, but "increase sales by 1000%" as unrealistic. But if he has to raise it by 50%, then this goal will seem difficult, but achievable. The higher the bar of reality, the more ambitions a person has. If the brain perceives the goal as impossible, then the employee will lose all desire to act.

By the way, the level of reality depends on self-esteem. If a person highly appreciates his strength, then he has an appropriate attitude to what he can achieve and what he cannot. With low self-esteem, almost any goal is perceived as unattainable. Therefore, in order to achieve the goals and objectives set, it is necessary first of all to “pump” yourself, your attitude to the world around you.

So, we have considered the main criteria for the goal. Some use other parameters, but as practice shows, they are, after all, optional. If you do not pay attention to the four main criteria, then most likely it will not work to achieve your goals and objectives.

How the SMART system helps to achieve the goal

SMART is a goal setting standard. According to him, every goal that you set for a subordinate must meet five criteria:

It must be specific. It should be clear to you what kind of result you are striving for. If you give a task to a subordinate, then it is necessary to pronounce the goal and the method by which it can be achieved. If we are talking about a new type of work, then it is better to offer the employee an algorithm of actions.

The result must be measurable. In order to achieve the goals and objectives set, it is necessary to introduce some kind of objective indicator that would allow to determine whether the desired result has been obtained. In addition, this allows you to make the reward system more transparent. According to the SMART approach, everything that can be measured can be changed and the desired indicator can be achieved.

The goal must be achievable. Make sure that the performer has all the necessary resources, that he has the knowledge and skills that would allow him to complete the task. Ideally, if the goal is difficult for the employee, but achievable.

The goal must be compatible (relevant) with other goals and responsibilities of the employee. In order to achieve the goals and objectives, the employee must have enough of his own efforts. If their implementation requires going beyond the scope of authority, then another specialist should probably be involved in this.

The deadlines for achieving the goal (time-bound) should be determined. Fix deadlines and milestones for completing milestones when you set a goal. This is done so that you can control how the subordinate copes with the task.

The use of the SMART approach is practiced mainly in large and technological companies. Keeping track of work in such an organization is quite difficult. The SMART approach allows you to do this, even if the team is very large. If employees are engaged in the performance of tasks of the same type, then it is advisable to offer them a certain algorithm of actions using the SMART approach. Using an algorithm makes sense when it comes to simple tasks.

The SMART approach makes it possible to evaluate the performance of each employee. In addition, the system for calculating employee remuneration becomes more transparent if they have any specific goals. As a rule, the tasks are completed by 80-90% using the SMART approach.

If the indicator drops to 50%, then this indicates the inefficient work of the employee, who should receive a monetary reward for his work in accordance with the result achieved.

SMART is often compared to light in a dark room. The actions of each employee become transparent, and it is easy for the manager to assess who benefits the company and who does not.

Performance bonus calculation

As experience shows, the SMART approach allows you to achieve your goals and tasks in a short time. SMART can be purchased as a computer program that must be installed on workers' PCs. If you do this, then each employee will have his own personal plan with deadlines for completing tasks and rewards for achieving certain goals.

The SMART approach allows the manager to control the work of employees and evaluate its effectiveness. If several performers are working on the goal at once, then the manager can find out how much time it took the specialist to cope with a particular task. If you plan to buy such a program, then keep in mind that it will take a lot of time to set goals for each employee. It is better to entrust this to a HR specialist.

The SMART approach greatly facilitates the work of the leader. By the way, if you motivate employees to independently determine their tasks, then they will achieve their goals and tasks much faster and more efficiently.

The ability to correctly set goals is a key managerial skill.

Ruslan Aliev, General Director of ZAO Capital Reinsurance, Moscow

The planning of the company's activities is based on the concept of target management. First, the global goals of the business are determined. They are included in the strategic development plan of the company. After that, you need to move on to describing specific goals for the year. They are included in the operating plan, which is an extremely important document. The success of the company depends on how well the achievement of goals is planned.

The ability to achieve goals using the work of subordinates is the main skill of a manager. If you want employees to achieve the desired results, then try not to set tasks for them with vague wording, for example, “improve”, “improve”, etc.

It is extremely important to set goals and evaluate the results of work together with employees. In addition, goals should not be too easy to achieve. With a high bar, you can increase employee motivation.

In order to achieve the set goals, objectives and evaluate the work of each employee, we have developed a system of key indicators for each position. The required level can be achieved if the employee performs the tasks prescribed in the plan. The work is evaluated by quantitative and qualitative indicators.

Each category of employees has its own priorities, that is, some indicators are more important than others. For example, employees of the sales department are focused on financial indicators, and the personnel department is focused on quality.

How to Achieve Your Goal: 12 Steps

1. Arouse Desire - Burning, Strong Desire

Desire will become the basis of your motivation, which will allow you to cope with all fears. It is known that people make decisions based on their fears or desires. If we often talk about our desire, then gradually we conquer the fear that prevents its realization. Thanks to a burning desire, a person rises above his fear and copes with overcoming any obstacles.

Have you ever experienced a strong and burning desire? Do you know this feeling? Remember that true desire is always a little selfish.

2. You need to develop a belief

You must be convinced that you can achieve your goals and objectives. If you are still not sure about this, then you need to strive with all your might to strengthen faith in yourself. If we are talking about a global goal, then there is no need to hope that you will be able to achieve it in a jiffy. Otherwise, you will simply be disappointed in your abilities. Firmly and confidently continue to act, and in time you will attract everything you need to realize your plan.

3. Write it down

Many people neglect this step. How many times have we heard that a goal not written down on paper is just your imagination? Dozens of times. The goal written down on paper is “objectified”. You take a desire and transform it so that it becomes a conscious goal for the brain, and not just an abstract fantasy.

4. Make a List of All the Benefits

Describe what benefits you will get if you manage to achieve your goal. Do not spare words, because the more points you write, the more you will motivate yourself to complete the upcoming tasks. If something doesn't go according to plan, you will be disappointed. However, if you have before your eyes what you are striving to achieve your goal, then you can quickly restore your presence of mind.

5. Determine your starting position

Define a starting point. If you have a clear idea of the current state of affairs, then it will be much easier for you to achieve your goals and tasks.

6. Set a Deadline

If you set a period during which you need to achieve your goals, tasks, then you will program your brain for optimal work to achieve the result. Sometimes people are afraid to set specific deadlines, because they are afraid that they will not be able to achieve their goal on time. It is important to understand that a goal without a deadline is not a goal at all.

If you have to achieve a long-term goal, then we recommend dividing it into several stages, which must also be divided into tasks. Make sure the "sub-goals" of each milestone can be achieved within 30 days. This will allow you to see your progress and intermediate results.

7. Make a list of all the obstacles standing between you and your goal.

The presence of obstacles is the flip side of success. If no interference occurs, then this indicates that you are either standing still, or your goal is just a way to take time.

Describe any obstacles that may prevent you from achieving your goals and objectives. Rank them in order of importance, choose the most important obstacle and focus on it.

Keep in mind that we are talking about both external and internal obstacles. The main obstacles, as a rule, are inside you. Be sure to identify what is preventing you from achieving your goals and objectives.

8. Determine what additional information you may need

Describe what information you need to achieve your goals and objectives. Consider where you can get it. You may need to consult a specialist. Plan how you will master knowledge, estimate how much time it will take.

9. Make a list of people whose help or mentorship is needed

Sometimes it is impossible to achieve your goals, tasks without the participation of other people. If you need helpers, then you need to make a list of them.

10. Make a plan

The plan is a list of actions that are necessary to achieve the goals and objectives. Make it as detailed as possible. Spend enough time on this, because your effectiveness depends on how well the plan is drawn up.

11. Use visualization

Thanks to pictures, we can activate our consciousness. Try to "see" the result you are striving for. Pay enough attention to this process. If you do this, you will feel how your thinking is strengthened, how the right people and ideas are attracted.

12. Decide in advance that you will never back down.

Are you persistent and determined? This is amazing! Never back down from your decision, be persistent and go to the end. If you stop being afraid of failure, then it will become much easier for you to achieve your goals and tasks.

For example, you have to do something very important. You know that you need to do it, but you are not enthusiastic about it. Psychologists call this low motivation. It is determined by such factors as thinking, perception, attitude towards oneself, etc.

If a person changes his style of thinking, develops, then he begins to think differently, make other decisions, act differently. If you work on yourself, get rid of unnecessary information from your head, start thinking positively, you can significantly improve your motivation in relation to any activity. Then you will be able to say with confidence to everyone - "I always achieve my goals."

I have one goal, I will experiment on it, I will inform you about the results later.

How to get things done

So, Step One: Create Desire - Burning, Strong Desire

Desire will be our motivational force that overcomes our fears. We make any of our decisions on the basis of either fears or desires. The more we talk about our desires, the faster they become strong and push our fears aside. As a result, our burning desire allows us to rise above our fears and move us forward, overcoming any obstacles.

Are you all aware of your strong and burning desire? What is it? It must be personal, even selfish. All the greatest achievements began with the definition of true desire.

Step Two: Develop Persuasion

We need to be sure that we can achieve our goal. If this confidence does not yet exist, it must be developed and strengthened. If your goals are big and require a lot of effort to achieve, don't try to do too much too fast. Otherwise, you can lose the presence of mind and faith in achieving the goal. You need a firm and strong belief that by continuing to do the right things, you will be able to attract the resources necessary to achieve the goal.

Step Three: Write It Down

This is the simplest action that not all of us do. It has already been said a million times that goals that are not written down on paper are just desires and our fantasies. If you write down the goal on paper, then you can then pick it up, touch it, examine it. Just imagine, we take desire from our consciousness and transform it into a form in which something can be done with it. Write down the goal on paper and turn on the mechanism of success at full power!

Fourth step: Make a list of all the benefits

Benefits will strengthen our desires and move us forward. You need to make a list of all the benefits that you will receive as a result of achieving the goal. The larger the list, the stronger our determination and motivation. It is very easy to lose your presence of mind if something suddenly goes wrong. If you have 30 benefits written down, it is safe to say that you will overcome all obstacles.

Step Five: Determine Your Starting Position

Before taking action, weigh yourself. There should be a benchmark against which to measure progress. The more clearly you visualize your starting position, the more likely you will be able to get where you want to go.

Step Six: Set a Deadline

By setting a deadline for ours, we program its achievement in our minds. It happens that people are afraid to set a deadline, afraid of not achieving their goal on time. Something like, "I love it when targets whistle past me." I assure you, there is nothing wrong with that. It's just that you weren't ready yet and you just need to set another deadline.

If the timeframe for achieving your goal is long, for example, 3-5 years, you need to break it down into subgoals, which in turn are also divided into time periods. Make sure that the deadline for completing the sub-goal is within 30 days. This will allow you to see results in a shorter time frame.

I once watched an interesting film about a girl who was advised to create her own blog, as she cooked very tasty. This girl had a book by a culinary master who lived many years ago. And she decided that she would cook all the dishes, something like 500 dishes that are written in this book in 1 year. If she had not set such a deadline for herself at the very beginning, she would never have reached her goal. Life always makes its own adjustments to our plans. And only by clearly following her plan, in spite of everything, the girl managed to achieve her goal. The film is called Julie and Julia. I recommend to look.

Step Seven: Make a List of All the Obstacles Standing Between You and Your Goal

Obstacles are the other side of success and achievement. It's strange if they don't. So then this is not a goal, but just some kind of occupation.

Write down any obstacles that might get in your way. Group them in order of importance. Find the biggest obstacle. It needs to be focused on.

Do you know that obstacles can be external and internal? They may be within us or within the situation. If the obstacle is definitely among us, then we need to strengthen some of our skills, or change something in ourselves.

An external obstacle may tell you that you are working in the wrong job, communicating with the wrong people, and so on. Find your target blocker!

Step Eight: Determine What Additional Information You May Need

It is necessary to make a list of information and knowledge that are necessary to achieve the goal. You should immediately think about where you can get it. The advice of a specialist or consultant in the field may be needed.

Have a plan for buying services or learning so you can calculate how much time and money it will take.

Step Nine: Make a List of People Whose Help or Mentorship is Needed

If other people must be involved in achieving your goal, make a list and rank the names in order of priority.

Step Ten: Make a Plan

Finally. So when do you need to write a plan?)) A plan is a list of actions. It's better to have a detailed plan. This is your road, this is your compass, on which you can start moving. This is the basis of your planning and. To draw up a plan, all you need is a notebook, a pen, and your goal.

Step Eleven: Use Visualization

Pictures can activate your consciousness, so you need to present a clear and clear picture of your goal as if it had already been achieved. If you don't succeed the first time, practice. In the process of training, clear images will increase the power of your thinking and like a magnet, the right people, ideas and events will be attracted to the process of achieving the goal.

Twelfth step. Decide in advance that you will never back down

Do you have perseverance and determination? In any case, develop your determination and never think about failure. Don't let anyone stop you from reaching your goal. Be decisive in your decision. Often, thanks only to the strength of perseverance, we learn how to achieve our goal.

So, we have dismantled a system consisting of twelve steps, the implementation of which, according to Brian Tracy, will help us to know how to achieve the goal. In the course of writing the article, I worked on my goal - the creation of another site. How much I will succeed and how long will my desire come true, those of you who receive articles from my blog in your mail will find out. Subscribe and follow the news.

I, in turn, am interested to know what methods and methods you, dear readers, use to achieve your goals. Are there similar steps you follow in the achievement process? Is there something else that you are using? If not difficult, please share in the comments below.

Many times you wanted to start life anew, made plans, set goals and dreamed of an incredible future, but nothing worked out? A few tips to help you achieve your goals.

How many times have you promised yourself to start a new life? Or set ambitious goals, but for some reason could not achieve them? It's time to get out of the vicious circle and get yours.

Get your goals right

A well-defined goal is the key to success. If you clearly define what you want to achieve, then it will be much easier for you to pave the way to your goal. That is why make sure that you have formulated the goal according to the SMART model.

SMART is an abbreviation for the words specific - specific; measurable - measurable; attainable - achievable; relevant - significant; time-bounded - related to a specific time frame.

Start working on your goal as soon as it meets each of these parameters. Otherwise, you risk not only increasing the time to achieve the goal, but also completely losing motivation.

Prioritize

When everything is prioritized, nothing is prioritized. In other words, you must make your goal a top priority and strive daily to get closer to your desire. It is best to do the most important thing in the morning.

Start your morning with something that will bring you closer to your dream.

Regardless of what position you have and what you do, it is advisable to allocate morning time for the most effective work. This may be the time on the way to the office, and the first half hour at work, when you close the doors of the office, asking you not to disturb you. You can also just get up 30 minutes earlier and while the whole family is sleeping, dedicate this time to achieving your goal.

If you start the day by getting closer to your goal, then such a day will definitely not be in vain.

be patient

For impatient people, waiting and wasting time are unbearable. To ease their pain, they try to save time and speed up, but the rush leads to an increase in the number of errors, because the brain is able to work either faster or more accurately, and then you have to go back, correct what you have done and spend because of this twice as much time and forces. And you don't want that, do you?

A critical element of success is doing everything on time.

Schedule action too late and you'll miss your chance. Schedule it too early and you'll fire before the target has even been set. You need to choose the right time, and then wait. Therefore, do not rush things and get ready to gradually approach your goal.

Don't turn temporary setbacks into defeats

No matter how much you want to avoid it, sooner or later you may be overtaken by failure or uncomfortable circumstances. For example, you regularly visit the gym, eat right, sleep, as expected, seven hours and even more. And suddenly something changes: vacation time comes, and with it - extra desserts, relaxation and laziness; mom gets sick - and this knocks you out of the usual rhythm of life; you are seriously upset about something - and calm yourself down with fatty and sweet food. The list of reasons why the achieved smooth flow of life is violated, and it gets out of the normal track, can be continued.

Keep moving towards your goal, no matter what happens.

But you must not give up, no matter how many temporary setbacks you experience along the way. Don't turn temporary setbacks into defeats. Face the circumstances with a smile, deal with them and continue on your way to the goal!

Avoid Perfectionism

Perfectionism is the desire and inner expectation of the highest level of performance. Then why is it bad to strive for the ideal? Why does perfectionism get in the way of achieving goals?

First, the “ideal” and “highest level” are very difficult to formulate and measure, so the goal of a perfectionist is elusive and abstract. everything but the ideal is unacceptable to him. if something does not meet the criteria, it must be rejected, replaced or redone. however, in this case, the work will not end. You can always correct, change and improve something - and still this will not be enough, because the ideal is unknown.

Perfectionism becomes the pursuit of the unattainable.

Secondly, the ideal is relative. What is perfect now won't be perfect tomorrow, and what looks great to some may not be to others. A warm sunny day is great for a picnic, but bad for drought-stricken crops. A glass of wine can be a great end to a hard day, but not for a person who is struggling with alcoholism. Salted dryers are a wonderful snack, but with hypertension, salt is unhealthy. Therefore, even if perfectionists provide for everything and create something perfect for everyone, circumstances can change, and this ideal creation will cease to be such. Avoid such situations.

Believe in yourself

Self-doubt dictates what can and cannot be done. It determines how ambitious goals you consider, how high you set the bar, to what extent you dare to reach. It builds a fence around ambition and feeds the brain with warnings that you know very little and know how, are not ready for success, are depressed, you are uncomfortable, and dreams are difficult to realize.

What to do with your confidence? Body language can have unexpected effects. Studies have shown that, for example, a change in facial expression affects mood because it is perceived by the brain as a sign of external or internal stimulation.

Therefore, try to speak confidently, stand and walk - and you will feel a surge of strength and admiration of others. The situation in which you are afraid to be will not change from the fact that you are timid or courageous. So why not choose courage?

How to achieve the goal - this question was asked by each of us. And this is understandable, because any person wants something, strives for something, but does not always know how to do it right.

There is even such a personal quality - purposefulness. This is when a person is able to achieve their goals. Is this good or bad, what do you think? For the most part, this quality is considered positive. Of course, if the goals are humane, if you do nothing to harm anyone. But even here, not everything is as simple as it seems at first glance.

Yes, you can achieve your goal, but lay your mental and physical health on its altar. It seems that the person did everything to achieve the goal, walked towards it with leaps and bounds and even achieved what he wanted, only the result will be doubtful.

And what am I leading this to? In addition to the fact that it is important not only to achieve the goal, you need to be able to do it correctly, having fun, and not sacrificing your health.

That is why it is necessary to be able to set goals correctly, to initially develop a plan of action, to foresee all possible consequences and complications, so that as a result you don’t have to “bite your elbows”.

Where to begin?

Let's start with what the goal is.

The goal is what we want to achieve and on the way to which we take certain steps.

So how do you set a goal and achieve it? In order for the goal to become feasible, it must be visualized, imagined.

For example, I want to buy an apartment (I write the first thing that came to my mind). Seems like a pretty good target. But if I want an apartment in New York, in the center of Manhattan, with an area of about 150 square meters, then this will be more of a dream than a goal. Especially if I don't even have a hundredth of the money to buy it.

An achievable goal is one that is comparable to your ability. And so we are back to buying an apartment. If I set myself the goal of buying an apartment, then, based on my real capabilities, I must clearly imagine how many rooms the apartment should have (for example, 2), in which district of the city it should be located, what its approximate area will be, what condition it is in is located (new building, secondary housing without renovation or, conversely, with euro renovation), etc. Based on all these parameters, you can imagine the approximate cost of such housing.

Again, back to how to set goals and achieve them. As long as the goal is abstract (just buy an apartment), the motivation for its implementation will not be very large. When you want something abstract, at first you want it, perhaps you even take some steps towards realization, but over time, all desire fades away. As a result, if such a goal is labor-intensive, then the probability of achieving it is negligible.

What is written in pen...

It is important not only to imagine your goal, you need to fix it on paper. And not on some scrap, but in such a way that you have the opportunity to constantly see your goal. You can even draw a picture or cut out an image of what you want from a magazine and stick it in a visible place.

As long as you have not described the goal in detail, have not fixed it on paper, it will be just a dream.

Even if you skim your eyes over the picture of your goal several times during the day, whether you like it or not, you will return to thoughts about it again and again. You will want to achieve your goal even more, and naturally, there will be more chances for a positive result.

I hope you have already begun to understand how to set goals and achieve them, where to start, then move on to the next step.

Plan, timing and starting position

The goal is, of course, good. But if you do not have a clear plan to achieve it, it will not be easy. You need to make a plan of what you have to do, and how it is even possible to accomplish it. The more similar the plan is, the easier and clearer it will be what needs to be done and in what sequence.

Remember: a big goal needs to be broken down into small subgoals.

Another important point is deadlines. It is desirable that we set specific deadlines for ourselves (X time), so we will “move” better, and it will be easier to make a plan.

Do not forget about the starting point. After all, we can set the same goals, however, the possibilities and means are different for everyone. In your opinion, who is easier to learn German perfectly to someone who has been actively learning it for 2 years, or to someone who has just started?

Since I touched on the topic of buying an apartment as an example, then I return to it again. For example, I decided that the estimated cost of an apartment would be about 36 thousand dollars. I plan to buy it in 3 years. Accordingly, in order to collect the planned amount of money, it will be necessary to set aside annually 12 thousand dollars a year or 1 thousand a month.

What are these calculations for? Agree, it is unlikely that everyone will be able to save 12 thousand dollars at once, but 1 thousand dollars a month is a much more feasible goal.

If the achievement of the goal should be delayed for a long period, then you can and should set temporary goals. For example, in a year I should have 12 thousand dollars set aside, in 2 - 24, and in 3 - the entire amount. Here is a simple, but at the same time working scheme for you, how to achieve your goal.

Small steps but every day

At school, each of us had to pass such a physical education standard as running a long distance (for example, 2 or 5 kilometers). Do you remember the sensations you experienced? Most immediately started to run at a fast pace, trying to get ahead of their classmates, and very quickly “blown away”, slowed down, and then barely walked at all.

Not everyone reached the finish line, especially if the distance was significant. There was simply no strength, no desire, no motivation left, everything was wasted at the start. But for those who immediately managed to ask the right topic, the probability of reaching the finish line was much greater.

The same goes for achieving any goal. It is important not to drive with all your might, losing both desires, and opportunities, and strength, it is important to constantly take small steps towards your goal. It is important to keep going and not give up.

Why did I choose to buy an apartment as my goal? Because for most people, it is unlikely that they will be able to make such a large purchase in one month without putting any effort into it. But gradually postponing, sometimes giving up something that you don’t really need, it is quite possible to acquire your own housing.

Remember: if you take small steps every day towards your goal, then after a while you can achieve a lot.

I love one saying: a drop wears away a stone not by force, but by frequent falling. Likewise with the goal. If little by little, even slowly, go towards it, without giving up and without stopping, then you can achieve any goal. Yes, you will have to work hard, yes, sometimes you will need to step on the throat of your laziness and resist, but it's worth it!

How to achieve the goal (psychology of success)

Each person has his own goal, someone has a small one, and someone has a big one. But it is not so much the goal itself that is important, but faith in yourself, in your capabilities.

How to achieve any goal? Is it possible? I think yes. The most important thing is a sense of self-confidence and a desire to move, develop in the direction of the goal.

It is important to believe in what you are doing, what you want, to know that you will definitely succeed, no matter what.

When you have a goal, it's best to tell people who believe in you, who will support you, about it. Constantly remind yourself that you will definitely succeed.

Obstacles on the way and fellow travelers

When you start moving towards your goal, it is very important not only to think over a plan in advance, to make a list of necessary things, you need to foresee what could prevent you from achieving your goal. Of course, you shouldn’t use your imagination too much, but it doesn’t hurt to really assess the circumstances.

In almost every situation, you can find a person who will go with you in the same direction, albeit not all the time, but only a certain section of the path. Do not neglect such people, ask for help and use it with gratitude.

By the way, if something doesn’t work out for you, then you need to figure out the reasons, and not abandon the goal, start feeling sorry for yourself.

What if we go the other way?

Let's say you have clearly defined what you want, visualized the goal, even made a plan of small steps. But somehow you don’t really want to go, and the circumstances seem to be not quite in your favor. How to proceed in such a case?
Psychologists recommend not only to imagine your road on the way to the goal, but also the opposite direction.

For example, if I currently live in rented housing, I need to think about buying my apartment, but I will not do anything. What will change in a year or two or three?

First, I need to live somewhere. And you will need to rent a house. For example, for $500 a month. For a year it is 6,000 thousand, and for 6 years - 36 thousand dollars (again, the cost of an entire apartment). You can buy expensive things, eat at a restaurant, not deny yourself anything, but instead live in a rented apartment in a year, and in two, and in five. Moreover, if now I have the opportunity to save for an apartment, then in 5 years this opportunity may not be.

Did I present the real version? Quite. Such thoughts will not only push you to achieve your goal, but can also cause longing. And therefore, it’s not worth it to accelerate too much in your imagination, but this technique works well as a magical “pendel”.

Don't spray

And if you want here, and here, and there? How to achieve a goal in life, especially if the goals are a wagon and a small cart? This is where I want to disappoint you. It is unlikely to succeed everywhere and immediately. If only simply because constantly spraying, you can simply go astray, get lost.

After all, in achieving the goal, not only the result is important, but also the path. However, hardly anyone wants to walk in the desert for 40 years. So you can lose all faith in yourself, and motivation will come to naught.

Yes, you can combine several goals, but only if they intersect, and even if there are no more than 2-3 of them. And if you make a kilometer list, then no methods will work here. It is better to do everything in order: first achieve one (at the same time self-esteem will grow), then another, then the third.

It's not the goal itself that matters, but the path to it

Achieving the goal is, of course, good. Only after all, beyond the top, to which you go, you can not see the path itself, the beauty that is at arm's length.

Career, success, material values are all good, only in the pursuit of them you can miss all the best that was given to us.

To go and not give up, you need to be able to relax, be able to communicate with loved ones, with friends. If you do not pause, do not look for emotional and physical nourishment, you are unlikely to be able to achieve the desired heights, because you will run out of strength, there will be no motivation.

Only he can fight to the end, who knows how to relax, who knows how to appreciate life and every moment of it. Therefore, learn to stop periodically, not only to see the path that still needs to be conquered, but also to appreciate what you have already managed to do.

Appreciate the people who walk beside you, help you, know how to be grateful. Remember, it is not the goal itself that is important, but the changes and improvements that will happen to you on the way to your goal.

Good day to all visitors to the blog site. How often did it happen to you that plans collapse, and the most cherished dreams never come true? To understand how to achieve what you want, you should understand not only the circumstances that prevent it from being done. It is necessary to understand, first of all, that the goal is a conscious result of our activity. It is a kind of planned pattern that determines our behavior. It motivates us to action and is the main engine of progress and personal growth. In this article, we will look at the reasons why you cannot realize your plans, as well as the main recommendations that will help you always achieve what you want. You will not only learn how to achieve your goals, but also be able to effectively organize your activities, correctly formulate goals and desires.

What is stopping us from achieving our goals?

One of the main factors that prevent us from getting what we want is the inability to clearly articulate our goal. Many people ask themselves a dream like "I want to have an expensive car" or "I want to buy an apartment." This is the wrong goal setting, which can become a serious obstacle to implementation. Set clear parameters, for example, “I want to have a gray Audi A9 in such and such a year” or “I want to buy a three-room apartment in a new building in such and such a district.” It is the correct wording that will allow you to get what you want quickly and easily.

However, there are other important factors preventing us from realizing our aspirations. Let's consider them in more detail:

  1. Fear of success. Many people successfully take steps towards their goal, but at the very end they give up and inevitably turn off the path. This can all happen completely unconsciously. Any success is usually associated with responsibility and making serious decisions, and insecure people are afraid of this.
  2. Fear of failure. A person who received a lot of criticism and little praise in childhood, in adulthood adheres to the rule "it is better to do nothing than to be condemned." Such people are more likely to observe the success of others than to set goals on their own and do everything possible to achieve them.
  3. Goal conflict or blurring. To achieve what you want, you should set 2-3 specific goals and move in their direction. Too many of them will lead to spraying and inability to concentrate on one thing. In addition, any person may have a conflict of goals (in this case, the conscious and the unconscious may participate in their setting). A striking example is the common desires "I want a lot of money" and "I want to have a lot of rest." To understand this, it is worth making a list of your plans, identifying contradictions and eliminating them. It is important to be able to correctly prioritize in order to formulate specific goals.
  4. comparison. People who constantly compare themselves with more successful people will never be able to achieve their goals. Thus, a person devalues his own achievements and develops an inferiority complex in himself, which becomes a significant obstacle to achieving the desired.
  5. Loss of motivation. If at some point you notice that you are tired and you no longer have the strength to realize your dream, do some soul-searching. Find out where most of your life energy is spent. It can be failed relationships, conflicts, etc. Find something that will inspire and motivate you.

All of the above are some kind of psychological barriers that prevent us from moving in the direction of our goal and realizing ourselves. If you become aware of these factors and begin to eradicate them, then you will soon see that it has become much easier to achieve what you want.

How to choose the right target?

In addition to the correct wording, which was mentioned above, it is also important that the goal is yours, and not imposed by society, family, etc. Psychologists and sociologists distinguish the so-called socially imposed goals, which you want to achieve only because it is necessary, so right, it is fashionable or prestigious. But it is also important that this task gives you an irresistible desire to move forward and take action. If you have an inner conviction that this goal is yours, then this is already half the battle.

So, in order to constantly achieve your goals, it is important to follow some rules when setting them:

  • any goal should be as clearly and specifically formulated as possible;
  • time to achieve the desired should be limited to specific deadlines;
  • formulate desires so that the result can be easily assessed; if necessary, break one large goal into several small ones;
  • soberly assess the possible consequences of achieving your dreams and decide if you can bear them (for example, buying an expensive car will be accompanied by constant expenses for its maintenance).

What life principles should be followed?

To achieve the desired result, you should get rid of stereotypical thinking and introduce several important principles into your life, following which you can become a successful and purposeful person. Let's look at these principles in more detail.

Principle 1: Do not be afraid of difficulties.

As soon as you retreat from one obstacle, several others will appear behind it, which will prevent you from realizing your goal. When you overcome one problem with confidence, you will have new strength for other difficulties.

Principle 2 A: Don't be afraid to make decisions.

No one has the right to make a choice for you, so if you think you are doing the right thing, then just do it.

Principle 3: Believe in yourself.

To achieve your goal, it is important to always and under any circumstances believe in yourself and in your strengths. Do not doubt the goal and believe that it is up to you to achieve it.

Principle 4 A: Constantly develop.

Do not forget about self-development and self-improvement. If you have achieved the desired result, do not stop there. Set yourself new challenges and constantly develop.

Principle 5: Visualize your goals.

Don't be afraid to imagine yourself with a dream already realized. If you want to buy a car, imagine in great detail how you are driving this car, feel how your foot presses the gas pedal, etc. Many psychologists advise making a poster of goals for clarity and hanging it in the most visible place.

Develop in yourself the above life principles and you will be surprised how quickly your business will go up, and what you have planned will become easier to implement.

What personal qualities will help you achieve what you want?

In order for any attempts to succeed and make dreams come true, it is worth developing some personal qualities in yourself. These qualities should include:

  1. perseverance. Do not allow any people or circumstances from the outside to somehow influence your aspirations and prevent you from achieving what you want. You will only be able to reach your goal when your perseverance and zeal forward become decisive, and the judgmental opinions of others will not be taken into account at all.
  2. Confidence. As mentioned above, you must be confident in yourself, in what you are doing, and in the goal that you have set for yourself. Drop all doubts and develop faith in yourself.
  3. Stress tolerance. In order not to “burn out” on the path to your dream and not lose all motivation, it is important to remain patient and resilient to any difficulties and problems that arise.
  4. Continuity. This quality means the ability and willingness to learn from someone else's experience, learn from someone else's mistakes and show interest in the achievements of other successful people.

If you cannot develop the necessary qualities in yourself, then attend various trainings or courses for personal growth, communicate with successful people. Identify your weaknesses of character and do your best to turn them into strengths and develop the qualities necessary for success.

Tip 1. State your goal in a positive way. It should not contain the “Not” particles, since our subconscious will not perceive it, thus programming our behavior for erroneous actions and actions. For example, instead of saying "I want to quit smoking," say "I want to quit smoking."

Tip 2. To achieve your goals, always soberly analyze and evaluate your capabilities. Assess whether you have the necessary knowledge, skills, time, financial resources, etc. If something is missing, do everything possible to ensure that you have a full supply of resources on the way to success.

Tip 3. Identify all possible obstacles to achieving what you want and develop ways to eliminate them. Think ahead about what or who can interfere with you and how you can avoid it.

Tip 4. Develop a specific algorithm of actions on the way to your dream. Make it look like a step-by-step instruction, mark each completed step and boldly move on to the next one.

Tip 5. Set deadlines not only for the goal itself, but for each step. To do this, analyze how much time it will take to complete a particular action. Be aware of the potential difficulties that may arise. This will help you act here and now, and not postpone the implementation of your goal until later.

Tip 6. Allocate your time wisely. Don't waste time on boring conversations or idleness. Do something useful that will help you not only achieve what you want, but also realize yourself as a person.

Tip 7. Keep an optimistic attitude. Focus solely on the positive: think not of poverty or unhappiness, but of wealth and prosperity.

Summing up, I want to say: in order to achieve your goals, you need to not only think, but also do! Engage in self-development and boldly step forward towards your dreams and realized desires!
