The Great Patriotic War was the most difficult and tragic test for our country in the past century, it became a test of strength, character, love for the Motherland of the Soviet people.

The press also contributed to the cause of victory. During the war years, publishing houses and printing houses of the country did not stop their work, and today this literature is a cultural monument of its time. These are publications in modest colorless softcovers, on gray paper without illustrations, in a reduced format, but they were also fighters, only of the book front, who also forged the victory of the Soviet people.

For the Kaliningrad Regional Scientific Library, books published during the hard times are especially valuable, as they were among the first in the fund. Through the efforts of the whole country, the fund of the regional library was created. The basis of the book fund was made up of books that were sent from the exchange fund of Moscow and from many cities of the Soviet Union.

In 2011, the staff of the Rare Books Fund began to form a collection of publications from the period of the Great Patriotic War. Today the collection contains 184 titles.

The main place in the book collection is occupied by publications published by the State Publishing House of Political Literature (Gospolitizdat). Among them are the works of the classics of Marxism-Leninism, political and statesmen, Russian philosophers and publicists, monographs on Russian and world history.

The collection presents the activities of the publishing houses of the USSR Academy of Sciences and Leningrad State University (LGU). These are scientific studies of the botanist, geographer, florist E.V. Wulf, botanist and geographer V.L. Komarova, mathematician N.I. Lobachevsky, works of the Zoological Institute, collections of historical notes and articles on the theory of shooting. Here is the “Scientific Notes” of Leningrad State University in the series of natural, historical and philological sciences.

The collection contains several publications of the Office of the Naval Publishing House of the NKVMF of the USSR, prepared by military specialists in ship and diving business.

Books of the State Publishing House of Foreign and National Dictionaries are also included in the presented collection. This is a military Hungarian-Russian dictionary, a dictionary of foreign words, etc.

The collection contains the production and technical literature of publishing houses necessary in war conditions: Transzheldorizdat, Pishchepromizdat, etc.

The collection presents the products of the publishing houses of Arkhangelsk, the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR (Baku) and Zarya Vostoka (Tbilisi) of the Georgian SSR.

There is a small number of books of prose and poetry from the State Publishing House of Fiction and the Soviet Writer Publishing House. Among the authors are G. Heine, V.V. Mayakovsky, N.A. Nekrasov, Yu.N. Libedinsky, V.Ya. Shishkov.

Present in the collection are lifetime editions of the famous shipbuilder, mechanic, mathematician A.N. Krylov, Academician, Engineer-Rear Admiral Yu.A. Shimansky, linguist, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences V.V. Vinogradov, Slavic philologist, historian, Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences N.S. Derzhavin, historian, Doctor of Law B.I. Syromyatnikov, historian, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences A.I. Yakovlev, historian E.V. Tarle and others.

It is noteworthy that some books have preserved information about their existence. Ownership signs are represented by imprints of stamps of city and district libraries, libraries of educational institutions and institutes of the country.

In 2014, the fund of rare books began to identify and form, and in 2015, it completed a description of the book collection of publications in English, the distinguishing feature of which is an ex-libris with the image of a book sign against the background of the Soviet and American flags, enclosed in a circle entry “To the Heroic People of the Soviet Union from the People of America” (“To the Heroic People of the Soviet Union from the American People”).

In the 1960s, books with such bookmarks entered the Kaliningrad Regional Library from the State Library for Foreign Literature (GIBL, now the Rudomino M.I. All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature).

It is known that in 1946 the American charitable committee "Russia War Relief" (RWR) organized an action to collect books for the USSR. The basis for the book donation was the destruction of thousands of libraries and millions of books by the Nazis in the Soviet Union.

Many organizations and ordinary Americans responded to the book collection campaign. Thousands of Americans donated their books. According to some reports, hundreds of thousands of books were sent to the Soviet Union by the autumn of 1946. The core of this collection was made up of editions of the classics of English and American literature.

Thanks to the preserved bookplates, seals and inscriptions, the participants of the action were the charitable organization Russian War Relief (“Committee for Assistance to Russia in the War”), public organizations: Citizens of Leverne Beales Dubuquee (Iowa), Citizens of Richmond, Perry Women's Club, Women's Club, educational institutions from Connecticut, Michigan and Ohio, Hiawata Utah Community Library and Public Library. The inscriptions on the bookplates made it possible to recognize the names of ordinary Americans who donated books from their personal libraries. On one of the books there is an inscription in a child's hand: "Please write to me."

The collection includes 70 books with ex-libris "To the Heroic People of the Soviet Union from the People of America" ​​("To the Heroic People of the Soviet Union from the American people").

The collection is based on books of the late 19th - early 20th centuries. The oldest edition is the 1873 novel "Middlemarch" by the English writer Mary Ann Evans (1819-1880), who wrote under the pseudonym G. Eliot. The collection contains two books published in 1942 and one in 1944. However, there are a small number of books that do not have information about the year of publication. In the bibliographic record, such books are listed as "s.a." (no year), or "s.l." in the absence of a place of publication. The collection is dominated by editions of the classics of English and American fiction.

Collection of books by I.I. Atamas

The collection of books from the personal library of Irina Ivanovna Atamas (1961-2010), head of the department of local history literature (from 2000 to 2010) of the Kaliningrad Regional Scientific Library, was donated to the library fund by her relatives in 2010.

Atamas Irina Ivanovna was born in Kaliningrad on October 6, 1961. In 1979 she graduated from the Kaliningrad secondary school No. 32; A.S. Pushkin. In the same year, she began working as a librarian at the Kaliningrad Regional Youth Library. V.V. Mayakovsky, and since 1988 - in the same place as the head of the information and bibliographic department. In 1987, I.I. Atamas graduated in absentia from the Leningrad State Institute of Culture. In 2012, the collection of I.I. Atamas of 168 books is included in the rare collection of the Center for Local Lore, rare books, manuscripts and special collections.

Collection of books by A.M. Harkavy

In 2003, the Kaliningrad Regional Universal Scientific Library acquired books from the personal library of Alexander Mironovich Garkavi (1922-1980), Doctor of Philology, Professor, Head of the Department of Russian and Foreign Literature of the Kaliningrad State University.

A.M. Garkavy is a graduate of the Faculty of Philology and postgraduate studies at Leningrad University. Among his teachers are brilliant Russian scientists - G.A. Gukovsky, B.M. Eikhenbaum, M.K. Azadovsky, V.V. Evgeniev-Maksimov, G.A. White.

In 1949, after the "Leningrad case", when well-known scientists were named "enemies of the people", including his teacher B.M. Eikhenbaum, A.M. Garkavy was forced to leave his beloved Leningrad, relatives, friends and go to the only city where he found work - to Kaliningrad. Postgraduate studies ended on January 1, 1951, and from September 1 of the same year, Alexander Mironovich began teaching at the Kaliningrad Pedagogical Institute.

While working in Kaliningrad, Alexander Mironovich defended his doctoral dissertation, became the first professor at the institute, published more than 130 scientific papers, twice held all-Union Nekrasov conferences in Kaliningrad.

Among the books of A.M. Garkavy 139 autographed books, 72 abstracts, 90 separate journal prints (everything related to N.A. Nekrasov, letters of E.E. Evgeniev-Maximov, B.M. Eikhenbaum were transferred to the Pushkin House; books to the Literary Museum in Moscow autographed by Yu.N. Tynyanov).

Alexander Mironovich conducted an extensive correspondence, books and letters came from 33 cities of Russia. On the books there are dedicatory inscriptions of teachers, comrades-in-arms on the Nekrasov front, colleagues, students. Among the autographs, well-known names throughout the country are K.I. Chukovsky, Yu.M. Lotman, M.K. Azadovsky, B.F. Egorov, I.G. Yampolsky, B.Ya. Bukhshtab, B.M. Eichenbaum.

The State Archives of the Kaliningrad Region contains 182 storage items from 1937-1982. Including:

• Manuscripts: scientific articles, lectures, reports, performances.
• Materials for the publication of the Complete Works of N.A. Nekrasov.
• Correspondence with writers, literary critics (there are photocopies of K.I. Chukovsky’s letters), the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House), the Museum of N.A. Nekrasov and others.

The Kaliningrad Regional Library contains:

Collection of books by V.I. Sinful

In 2016, a collection of books from the personal library of the Doctor of Philology, Head of the Department of Foreign Philology of the Baltic Federal University. Immanuel Kant Vladimir Ivanovich Greshnykh (1941-2012) was transferred by relatives to the Kaliningrad Regional Scientific Library.

V. I. Greshnykh graduated from the Department of Russian Language and Literature of the Faculty of History and Philology of the Lipetsk State Pedagogical Institute. He worked as an assistant at the department of Russian and foreign literature of this institute for three years. Then he taught at Komi, Bryansk Pedagogical Institute (1969-1985), worked at Kaliningrad State University since 1985. Since 1996, he has been supervising postgraduate studies in the specialty 10.01.03 - Literature of the Peoples of Foreign Countries (European and American Literature). Eleven Ph.D. theses were defended under his leadership.

In 2001, V. I. Greshnykh defended his doctoral dissertation “Fictional prose of German romantics: forms of expression of the spirit” at the Moscow State University. M. V. Lomonosov.

In 1991, the publishing house of the Leningrad University published his monograph "Early German Romanticism: a fragmentary style of thinking." Collection of books by D.V. Dunayevsky

In 2016, the Kaliningrad Regional Scientific Library received books from the personal collection of Denis Viktorovich Dunayevsky free of charge.

Dunayevsky Denis Viktorovich was born on October 30, 1981 in Kaliningrad in a family of naval officers. He is a graduate of the Kaliningrad school number 47. In high school, he was a member of the local history club "Crystal", which was led by T.G. Burukovskaya. Since his school years, he has been studying the history of the region and collecting. Some of them have an ex-libris of Sergei Yakovlevich Gessen (1903-1937), an employee of the Institute of Russian Literature of the USSR Academy of Sciences (Pushkin House), secretary of the editorial board of the academic edition of A.S. Pushkin, secretary of the editorial board of the “Vremennik of the Pushkin Commission”, author of books related to the study of the topic “Pushkin and the Decembrists”.

Collection of E.P. Zarubina

Collection of books Yu.N. Kuranova

In 2011, Zoya Alekseevna Kuranova, the widow of the Kaliningrad writer Yu.N. Kuranova (1931-2001), donated some of the books from her personal library to the fund of the regional scientific library.

Yuri Nikolayevich Kuranov was born on February 5, 1931 in Leningrad into a family of artists. In 1950-1953 studied at the Faculty of History of Moscow State University, in 1954-1956. - at the screenwriting department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography. He wrote poems, short stories, novels. Kuranov's first poems were published in 1956. At the same time, he met the writer K.G. Paustovsky, who determined his creative destiny.

In 1957 he moved to the Kostroma region, where his first stories were published two years later. In 1961 the first book was published. In 1962 he became a member of the Writers' Union of the USSR.

From 1959 to 1981 Yu. Kuranov was a rural resident. At first he lives in the Kostroma village of Pyshchug, and since 1969 - in the Pskov village of Glubokoe. The impressions of these years became the basis of his works and secured his reputation as a master of Russian lyrical prose.

In 1982, the writer moved to Svetlogorsk, Kaliningrad region, where he continued his literary work. Here Yu. Kuranov runs the Blue Space poetry club, becomes one of the founders of the regional magazine Zapad Rossii, a member of the editorial board and a regular contributor.

In 1991, he participated in the organization of the new Writers' Union of Russia. Then Yu.N. Kuranov became the winner of the first literary prize of democratic Russia.

In 2000 he received the regional professional award "Recognition" in the field of literature.

The name of Yuri Nikolaevich Kuranov is included in Russian encyclopedias and dictionaries. The writer's books were published in Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Poland, the USA and other countries. His works are included in anthologies of Russian prose published abroad.

The basis of the collection is the books of those with whom Yuri Nikolayevich was friends for many years. These are the writers: V.N. Bochkov, V.A. Geydeko, G.A. Goryshin, V.V. Karpenko, M.V. I., Markov G.M., Palman V.I., Stetsenko V.P., Fomenko V.D., Frumkin L.R., Shatko E.I. Chernykh B.I.; artist E.I., Shuvalov N.V.; Russian political and statesman A.N. Yakovlev. Each edition has an autograph or a gift inscription.

The State Archives of the Kaliningrad Region also store personal documents of Yu.N. Kuranova. The fund is in the process of formation.

Collection of books by N.L. Lugansk

In 2013, the Kaliningrad Regional Scientific Library received free of charge books from the personal library of the Honored Art Worker of Russia, composer, musicologist, folklorist, critic, member of the Union of Composers of the USSR, Russia Nikolai Leonidovich Lugansky (1937-2005).

Collection of books by M.G. Rodionova

The collection of books from the personal library of Margarita Gennadievna Rodionova (1924-1998) was transferred to the library fund by the husband of the writer Alexander Fyodorovich Rodionov in 2000.

Margarita Gennadievna Rodionova was born on March 1, 1924 in the city of Elabuga of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic in the family of a teacher. From the 10th grade, she volunteered for the front. She graduated from the communications school in Nikolaev and since 1942 served as a radio operator at the Novorossiysk naval base of the Black Sea Fleet. Out of 225 days, 202 fought on Malaya Zemlya near Novorossiysk. She participated in the battles on Taman, was among the liberators of the hero cities of Kerch and Sevastopol. Demobilized in 1945 and returned to Sengiley. She worked for the local newspaper.

In 1951 she arrived in the Kaliningrad region. She worked in district and regional newspapers, on radio and television, in the newspaper "Guardian of the Baltic".

She has been writing poetry since early childhood. The first poem was published in the regional newspaper in 1935. She also composed poems at the front, which were published in army newspapers. The first story was published in the 1950s. The first book is in 1963.

Since 1962 he has been a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR. In 1975 she was admitted to the Union of Writers of the USSR and the Literary Fund of the USSR. Has government awards.

Interest and love for nature, its reserved places are reflected in the work of M.G. Rodionova. Thus, the book "Migratory Birds Are Flying" is dedicated to the work of the ornithological station on the Curonian Spit. Collection of books by A.P. Sobolev

In 2001, a literary evening dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the birth of the writer Anatoly Panteleevich Sobolev (1926-1986) was held in the Kaliningrad OUNB. The evening was attended by the writer's widow, who donated some of the books from his personal collection to the library fund.

A.P. Sobolev (also published under the pseudonym A. Sibiryak) was born on May 6, 1926 in the village of Kytmanovo, Altai Territory. In 1943 he volunteered for the front. Until 1950 he served as a sailor-diver in the Northern and Baltic fleets. In 1956 he graduated from the Siberian Metallurgical Institute, worked at the factories of the Urals and Siberia as a mechanical engineer, a teacher at the Siberian Metallurgical Institute in Novokuznetsk.

In 1967 he graduated from the Higher Literary Courses in Moscow. He worked as a senior editor of the Perm book publishing house. In 1968 he moved to Kaliningrad.

In 1963 he published his first story, "The Madness of the Brave". This was followed by collections of novels and stories, many of which were devoted to sailors, as well as the events of the Great Patriotic War: "Thunderous Steppe", "Peat Coat for Growth", "Poplar Snow", "Night Rainbow", "Quiet Post", "Course Nord -west", etc. Some of his works are included in the golden fund of literature for children. A number of books have been translated into other languages ​​in Russia and abroad, some of them have been made into films.

In 1964 he was admitted to the Writers' Union of the USSR. In 1971, his work was awarded a diploma to them. A. Fadeev for the story "Some kind of station". Awarded with government awards. Died June 28, 1986.

Collection of books by V.S. Suvorov

In 2012, the Rare Books Fund received a collection of books by Professor, Head of the Department of Special and Historical Disciplines and Regional History of the Russian State University. I. In 2017, the Rare Books Fund received a collection of postal envelopes, formed from donated materials by collector Gennady Ivanovich Dyakov and photographer Vitaly Alekseevich Saranov.

The collection is a collection of artistic envelopes, formed into thirteen thematic series, each of which contains a different number of envelopes - from 1 to 117. These are envelopes dedicated to the Kaliningrad region: "Annals of Kaliningrad 1945-2005", "Kaliningrad region 1946-2006", " 60 Years of the Kaliningrad Region”, “Labor Valor of the Kaliningrad Region”, as well as envelopes dedicated to Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin and poet, actor, singer Vladimir Semenovich Vysotsky. The collection of autographs of the Regional Scientific Library named after A. I. Herzen has 1323 publications with dedications of famous writers, poets, scientists, fellow librarians, bibliophiles, who at different times were readers, employees or guests of our library. For the most part, these are our fellow countrymen, whom life has scattered throughout the cities and towns of Russia. The beginning of the collection of autographs, as independently allocated from the fund of valuable and rare books, was laid during the Great Patriotic War by the director of the library Klavdia Mikhailovna Voykhanskaya (director since 1941) - a connoisseur and connoisseur of the book. Thanks to her activities, the library was able to enrich its funds with unique publications, including books with autographs.

During the Great Patriotic War, the library was replenished with books by authors who were evacuated in Kirov and worked in the library. The very first gift of the war years was the book of the writer Nikolai Nikolayevich Nikitin (1895–1963) “It began in Kokand” (L., 1940), the autograph record of which is given as an epigraph. It was followed by other books, other authors.

Among those evacuated to the city of Kirov from the front-line cities were people of various specialties: scientists, writers, artists.

Academicians E. V. Tarle and V. P. Potemkin, professors K. M. Bykov and V. M. Lazarev and many others used the library’s book resources in their work. Evgeny Viktorovich Tarle (1875-1955) - historian, academician. During the Great Patriotic War, being evacuated in Kirov, he studied at the regional library named after. A. I. Herzen. Vladimir Petrovich Potemkin (1878-1945) - historian, academician, diplomat, just like Tarle, was evacuated to Kirov at the beginning of World War II. Here, together with other scientists, he continued work on the multi-volume edition of the History of Diplomacy. When preparing 2 and 3 volumes, the funds of our library were used. In memory of this, Vladimir Petrovich presented the library with one volume of this publication with a dedicatory inscription: “The main library named after A. I. During the Great Patriotic War, both scientific organizations and teams of higher educational institutions, in particular, the Naval Medical Academy, were evacuated to Kirov and worked here. Later, library staff (V. G. Shumikhin, A. I. Rusinova, and others) began to identify editions with autographs from the library's funds. So new interesting editions, new names, new autographs appeared in the collection. Among these publications were pre-revolutionary books autographed by P. V. Alabin, V. G. Korolenko, Count G. A. Miloradovich, A. M. Vasnetsov and others.

Pyotr Vladimirovich Alabin (1824–1896) served in Vyatka from 1857 to 1866 in the provincial specific office, and since 1859 as the manager of this office. He was a member of 9 committees and commissions, including trustees: on prisons, on the public library and others. In 1862, on a voluntary basis, he became the manager of the affairs of the public library. He purchased a building for the library, compiled the first catalogue, enlarged the book stock and opened the Vyatka Public Museum. He actively worked in the Statistical Committee, participated in the population census, published articles about the Vyatka Territory on the pages of the statements, wrote his main book, Traveling Notes, about the Crimean War (later published in Samara and sent to the Vyatka Public Library), compiled an Reader for Commoners. . Vladimir Galaktionovich Korolenko (1853–1921) was exiled in Vyatka in 1879 in Glazov, and then in the Berezovsky repairs of the Glazov district (now the Afanasyevsky district). The Vyatka exile lasted from May 1879 until mid-February 1880. Correspondence and personal meetings with Vyatka friends continued many years later. Of no less value are the autographs of famous Vyatka dynasties for us: the Vasnetsovs, the Charushins, the Gromozovs. One of the old Vyatka surnames - the Vasnetsovs - gave the Vyatka region and Russia priests, artists, scientists, teachers, and public figures. Apollinary Mikhailovich Vasnetsov is a famous artist, author of works on the theory of art, history, and archeology. His works are in many museums around the country. In Moscow there is a memorial museum-apartment, and in the village of Ryabovo (the birthplace of the artist) a house-museum of V. M. and A. M. Vasnetsov was opened. The collection contains publications (both pre-revolutionary and more modern) with autographs of the Vasnetsovs. Many of them were handed over by relatives as a sign of memory of their small homeland.

The surname Miloradovich originated from Herzegovina, where the ancestors of Mikhail Ilyich Miloradovich lived, who settled in Russia in 1711. All the Miloradovichi who lived in Russia faithfully served the Tsar and the Russian Fatherland. Count Grigory Alexandrovich Miloradovich (09/24/1839–?) was in Vyatka in 1874 in connection with recruiting. He was engaged in acquaintance with the Vyatka province in statistical terms, studied local antiquities. Pafnuty Lvovich Chebyshev and Alexander Fedorovich Popov are mathematicians. The works of both found recognition during their lifetime not only in Russia, but also abroad. Chebyshev graduated from Moscow University, but devoted his entire professorial life to St. Petersburg University. In honor of Chebyshev, the prize "For the best research in the field of mathematics" was established (since 1944). Alexander Fedorovich Popov (a student and successor of Lobachevsky) is our countryman. He graduated from high school in Vyatka. In Kazan, he entered the university. After graduating from it, he defended his dissertation and taught at the university. Lived and died in Kazan. In 1864 he came to Vyatka. He wrote two textbooks on higher mathematics for universities.

The collection contains the book “The era of the liberation of the peasants in Russia (1857–1861) in the memoirs of P. P. Semyonov-Tyan-Shansky” (St. Petersburg, 1911. Vol. 1) with a dedicatory note: "To dear niece Elisaveta Yakovlevna Kulakova from the author P.P. Semyonov Tyan-Shansky."

Pyotr Petrovich Semyonov-Tyan-Shansky (1827–1914) - famous geographer, traveler, explorer of Siberia and Central Asia, nephew of Nikolai Nikolaevich Semyonov, real state councilor, who headed the provincial militia committee in Vyatka, contributed to the opening of an orphanage, introduced the rules of a new device land duties.

The autograph of Vladimir Afanasyevich Obruchev (1863–1956), a Soviet geologist and geographer, a well-known explorer of Siberia, Central and Central Asia, the author of many scientific and popular science works, an academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences, an honorary president of the Geographical Society of the USSR (since 1947), is addressed to Charushin : Dear Anna Dmitrievna and Nikolai Apollonovich ( originally written to Egorovich, but corrected by the author's hand) Charushin for good memory from the author "(Obruchev V.A. The Charushins, like the Vasnetsovs, are a well-known Vyatka dynasty. Nikolai Apollonovich was a populist revolutionary, public figure, publisher, local history bibliographer. He took an active part in the political life of the Vyatka province, worked in the Vyatka public library. A. I. Herzen, in the local history department. Anna Dmitrievna Charushina (née Kuvshinskaya) was his wife.

The collection contains books with dedicatory inscriptions of our countrymen writers who keep in touch with their small homeland, with the regional library named after. A. I. Herzen. They donate editions of their new books to the library and its readers, thereby adding to our collection.

Writers such as Albert Anatolyevich Likhanov (b. 1935), Vladimir Nikolaevich Krupin (b. 1941) need no special introduction. Their creativity and social activities are well known not only to the people of Kirov. The collection contains many books by these authors, starting from the very first editions both in Russian and in foreign languages.

Albert Anatolyevich Likhanov donated a large number of books from his personal library to the library. These publications are included in a separate collection of A. A. Likhanov, which contains not only his author's works, but also books by Russian and foreign writers and poets with surprisingly warm dedication inscriptions to Albert Anatolyevich and his wife.

Nikolai Alekseevich Zabolotsky (1903-1958) - poet, translator. Together with his parents in 1910 he moved to the Vyatka province, in the village. Sernur Urzhumsky district. He studied at a real school in the city of Urzhum. Here he began to write his first poems. From 1921 to 1938 he lived in Leningrad, studied at the Pedagogical Institute named after A. I. Herzen. During these years he kept in touch with Vyatka, came to visit his father and sisters. Another of our compatriots, writer - Olga Konstantinovna Matyushina (Gromozova, 1885-1963). She is from the famous Gromozov dynasty in the city of Slobodskoy. They traded, occupied various positions in the city government, and participated in public life.

Olga Konstantinovna - art critic, writer. Worked in publishing houses and book trade organizations. She survived the blockade in Leningrad, during which she lost her sight. Author of many books and magazine publications. There are several editions with her dedicatory inscriptions in our collection. Andrei Dmitrievich Blinov (1918-1996) - writer, member of the Writers' Union, former staff correspondent of the Kirovskaya Pravda newspaper. The author of many stories and novels, the plots of which are often associated with his native Vyatka region. "Native Library. Herzen, where he spent the best hours with books. Kirov's connection with Latvian writers and poets, which began during the Great Patriotic War, is not interrupted even today. Our collection also contains the Latvian newspaper Qinya and the works of Latvian poets, writers and playwrights.

A well-known film and theater actor, a native of Nolinsk, Boris Petrovich Chirkov (1901–1982), a People's Artist of the Soviet Union, Hero of Socialist Labor, was a guest of our library. Our collection contains two of his autographed books. The text of one of them: “From a fellow countryman. I am proud that my book will also be on the shelves of your library.”(Chirkov B.P. In our collection there are dedicatory inscriptions of famous scientists, researchers both living in Kirov and those who left it, but retained the memory and love for it. Professor, scientist, specialist in the field of librarianship Anatoly Nikolaevich Vaneev (b. 1925), former library employee. Member of the Great Patriotic War. He left the library for the war and returned here again after demobilization. Working in the regional library, he graduated from the institute. After graduating from graduate school, he moved to live and work in Leningrad, at the Institute of Culture. N. K. Krupskaya (now St. Petersburg State Academy of Culture). Author of many scientific, methodical and educational publications in the field of theory and practice of librarianship. His works with dedicatory inscriptions are in our collection. "Library them. Teacher, scientist, professor of the Kirov Agricultural Academy - Emilia Adrianovna Shtina (1910–2007). All her scientific activity is connected with the study of soil algae. Nikolai Sergeevich Epifanov (1902–1996) – surgeon, professor, Honored Doctor of Russia, author of more than 200 scientific publications, including those on the history of the development of surgery in the Vyatka land. The autographs of the collection are diverse: restrained and warm, sadly lyrical and comic. Dedicatory inscriptions vary in form, mostly short or more common prose texts, but in our other collections (E. D. Petryaeva, I. I. Khalturina, V. S. Modestova, A. A. Likhanova, A. V. Emmaussky, V. E. Subbotin) there are also comic poetic autographs. From their texts one can learn about little-known episodes of personal or social life; about all-Union and international creative or friendly relations of both the addressee and the donor. The collection of autographs continues to grow constantly. One of the latest additions is books by Yunna Moritz, Yuri Norshtein; collections of poems by a member of the Writers' Union, our colleague, poetess Galina Kustenko.

These are rare and especially valuable editions that are part of the national library fund, as well as collections of books that are of particular importance only when they are combined together on some basis. The library has a hall of book collections, where four book collections are located: "Pushkiniana", "Rarity", "Miniature", "Autograph".

All of them are included in the regional collection of book monuments of the Kirov region and are regularly updated.

"Pushkiniana"

Pushkiniana is the oldest and largest book collection. All materials included in it are associated with the name of A. S. Pushkin. This collection has been collected since the opening of our library, since 1900. To date, the collection includes almost 1,500 titles: books, audio and video cassettes, disks. In addition, the collection includes sets of postcards, paintings, photographs, figurines, and various souvenirs donated by readers or purchased by library staff.

During its existence, the library has collected a unique Pushkin fund, which includes:

The oldest edition dates back to 1855. The collection includes books published by the most famous publishers of the turn of the century: A.S. Suvorin, I.D. Sytinin, F. Pavlenkov, M.O. Wolf, I. Knebel and many others. The collection includes the complete works of A. S. Pushkin, consisting of 19 volumes. Also in the collection there are editions of individual works: fairy tales, poems, plays, short stories, novels.

The pride of "Pushkiniana" - "The Complete Works of A.S. Pushkin" in one volume. The book was published by F. Pavlenkov in St. Petersburg on the centenary of the poet's birth. At that time it was a luxurious volume, a large format in leather, gold binding. The book is decorated with a portrait of A.S. Pushkin (engraved by V. Mate) and 160 illustrations.

Stored in the “Album in memory of A.S. Pushkin (1837-1887)”, issued in St. Petersburg on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the death of the poet in 1887.

In addition to the works of Alexander Sergeevich himself, this collection also includes books by famous literary critics who studied Pushkin's work. Among them are Yu. Lotman, B. Tomashevsky, N. Skatov, P. Shcheglov, B. Meilakh and others. The collection contains interesting studies on the genealogy of A. S. Pushkin. These are, for example, “Descendants of the Great Tree” by V. Polushin and “The Millennium Tree of A. S. Pushkin” by A. Cherkashin.

Among the particularly interesting publications of Pushkiniana are the Dictionary of the Language of A. S. Pushkin in 4 volumes and the Dictionary of Pushkin's Popular Expressions. On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Pushkin, the Pushkin Encyclopedia was published. It includes a biography, a chronology of the poet's work, memoirs of his contemporaries about him. In addition, the "Encyclopedia" includes articles and essays by famous Russian writers, revealing their understanding of the work of the great poet and its significance for Russian literature and culture. Another edition - "Onegin Encyclopedia" - the first attempt to create an encyclopedia entirely dedicated to one novel, "Eugene Onegin". It contains articles that analyze the work in detail, starting from the peculiarities of the culture of Pushkin's time and ending with the philosophical motives of the novel.

The "Pushkinian" contains books relating not only to Pushkin himself, but also covering many aspects of the Pushkin era. Here are books about Pushkin's contemporaries, about the literature of this time, about the noble life of Pushkin's time, about Moscow and St. Petersburg of Pushkin's time. There are also books in the collection about the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum, the alma mater of the great poet. The collection includes books dedicated to N. N. Goncharova, considering her biography and life after the death of A. S. Pushkin.

The collection also includes video cassettes with wonderful films based on the works of A. S. Pushkin. The collection also includes discs with feature and documentary films, as well as audiobooks. For example, these are discs with the audio performance "Eugene Onegin", the audio book "Belkin's Tale", etc. There are also research materials on electronic media, for example, Y. Tynyanov's book "Pushkin".

Thus, "Pushkiniana" is a collection of materials that study not only the work of the great poet, but also allow you to get an idea of ​​the Pushkin era as a whole.

"Miniature"

This collection includes books no larger than 10x10 cm. It has about 80 titles. These are individual works of art by Russian and foreign authors, multi-volume publications, reference and encyclopedic publications, industry publications, and books in foreign languages. Among the works of the classics of literature presented in the collection are the lyrics of Tyutchev, Yesenin, Blok, Tsvetaeva, Akhmatova, the works of Lermontov, Kuprin, Zoshchenko, etc. Of the classics of foreign literature, the collection includes, for example, the works of Shakespeare and his contemporaries, Schiller, Beranger, Balzac , Maupassant. Many of them have a very interesting artistic design: gold trimmings, satin bookmarks, dust jackets, bright illustrations. The size of the smallest book in the collection is 38x45 mm - the collection "Epigrams: Germany, Spain, France, Russia". However, this is not the smallest edition in our library. The collection "Pushkiniana" includes the book by A. S. Pushkin "The Bronze Horseman", the dimensions of which are 15x25 mm. The largest format is 100x100 mm.

"Rarity"

Rare and valuable books in the library. A.S. Pushkin began to collect in a separate fund recently, only in 2004. The collection includes valuable books from the late 19th-first half of the 20th centuries, books published in a small print run of up to 15,000 copies, and reprints. To date, the collection includes 430 titles - books on various branches of science, works of art by domestic and foreign authors, including collected works, periodicals.

Among the specialized books, it is worth noting the beautifully printed History of Russian Literature of the 19th century, edited by D. N. Ovsyansky-Kulikovsky, published in 1911, as well as the illustrated collected works of Ch. Darwin, published by Yu. Lepkovsky in 1909.

A very valuable publication is “Catalogue of the Vyatka City Public Library named after A.S. Pushkin" for 1915. It was printed on Vyatka in the printing house of Shklyaev M.M. It is known from the stamps that the catalog was in the funds of the State Public Library of Leningrad, on the shelves of the storage of the Research Institute of Bibliology. Looking into it, you can find out that at the beginning of the last century, Pushkin's book fund numbered 9,000 copies.

One of the most unique editions of the collection is the lifetime edition of the collected works of N. A. Goncharov in 1884 “with a portrait of the author, engraved by academician I.P. Pozhalostin, and a facsimile. This collected work was handed over in the 1980s. from the home library of N.D. Zarubina is in excellent condition. It is also worth noting the selected works of N.V. Gogol in two volumes of 1901. This edition was published in Vyatka, in Maisheeva's printing house. Drawings for it were made by famous Russian artists I. E. Repin, V. E. Makovsky, I. N. Kramskoy, A. M. and V. M. Vasnetsov, N. N. Khokhryakov.

It is pleasant to hold in your hands “Poems of A. Koltsov” published in 1892 in St. Petersburg. This is the first complete collection with a biographical sketch, critical articles, notes, portraits and 39 drawings and vignettes made by members of the Association of Russian Illustrators. The binding of the book is a work of art of typography.

The Raritet collection includes publications by Russian writers of the turn of the 19th–20th centuries. The most interesting is Griboyedov's 1875 edition. Also in the collection there are books by Dostoevsky published in 1888 and 1895, several volumes from the collected works of Turgenev published in 1883, as well as publications by Zhukovsky, Lermontov, Nekrasov, Tolstoy in the 1900s.

Separately, it should be said about the series of books "The Library of Great Writers" edited by S. A. Vengerov. This series was published by the Brockhaus-Efron publishing house in the 1910s. The collection contains collections of works by Schiller and Shakespeare. The artwork for the books in the series was made by the famous artist and book graphic artist E. Lansere. The collected works of Schiller and Shakespeare are presented in other publications. For example, in the publication of the publishing house "Academia" in 1935-1936.

Recently, the collection has been replenished with a unique edition, transferred to the library by the director of the Kirov City Science and Natural Museum, Elena Anatolyevna Makhlaeva. This is a facsimile reproduction of the Ostromirov Gospel.

The Aprakos Gospel of 1056-1057 - a contribution to the cathedral church of Novgorod by the eminent governor and mayor Ostromir (in the baptism of Joseph) - in the main part of the text contains the Gospel daily parts from Easter to Pentecost, as well as Saturday and Sunday readings for the following weeks of the year. In addition, it includes gospel readings according to the Monthly Book and a number of additional readings. But, according to an employee of the State Historical Museum N.N. Lisovoy, "it is also a historical source that tells about the events and people of his time, their philosophical views and political preferences."

Among periodicals, the most interesting is the children's magazine "Firefly" for 1916. We have the opportunity to see with our own eyes what they offered children to read almost a hundred years ago.

"Autograph"

The collection contains books with dedicatory inscriptions of the authors. These are figures of literature, art and science, as well as local historians and just readers. The library fund began to replenish with dedicatory books from the very first year of its existence. Today this collection contains about 300 items. These are both fiction books and books on various branches of science. Most of the collection consists of books with dedicatory inscriptions of writers - our countrymen. It is worth noting that among them there are quite well-known names. For example, the collection contains several books autographed by A. Likhanov. The collection also contains books autographed by V. Krupin, B. Porfiryev, V. Sitnikov, O. Lyubovikov and others. There are books in the collection of our famous local historian A.G. Tinsky. On the centenary of the opening of the library. A.S. Pushkin was presented with a Bible with a dedicatory inscription of Metropolitan Chrysanf of Vyatka and Sloboda. This collection includes a book with a dedicatory inscription of the Vasnetsov family, descendants of the famous Wanderer artist Viktor Vasnetsov. Of particular interest are books signed by L. Gurchenko and K. Shulzhenko. Thanks to the author's handwritten inscription, the book becomes one of a kind and acquires literary, historical, and cultural value.

The library stock contains more than a thousand rare books. These are books of past centuries, miniature and microminiature editions, a collection of autographs and bookplates. The fund is divided into separate valuable publications and book collections.

Particularly valuable specimens are handwritten books presumably from the 18th - early 19th centuries. "Saints. Apostle" and "Lives of the Saints"

Who wrote them - the clergy or the laity - is unknown. The books contain biographies of the saints, prayers and teachings. The text is made in the Old Believer semi-ustav in two colors. The initial letters are painted with cinnabar (red paint) and decorated with various patterns. The font is Church Slavonic, Cyrillic. "Saints. Apostol ”is more like a first printed one. It seems that the book was made in separate parts, which were then combined into one whole, because. throughout the book, the font size changes several times. The book is printed in two colors. The time of publication of the book could not be established, but the font and external design of the book suggests that the book was also created in the 17th century.
