What do you need to create your own state. New business ideas

Throughout history, the map of the world has been constantly changing. Empires that (seemingly) would last forever collapsed. In their place, new countries appeared, often completely opposite to what was previously in this place. As time went on, however, interest in the states did not fade at all. With the development of industrialization and the creation of new technologies, interest in states has grown exorbitantly.

But if in the past the government of the country was the prerogative of the elite, now almost everyone can become the leader. Sometimes it happens that a person is not satisfied with the prospect of governing an already existing country. This can happen for completely different reasons. Sometimes the question of how to create your own state arises because a person sees the imperfection of the political system in his country, and sometimes you want to feel like the sole ruler of the state that he himself created.

It would seem that the dreams of building their own country will remain dreams that have no real basis. But today, nothing is practically impossible. If you seriously address this issue, it turns out that creating your own state (even if it is a very small country) is real. So, how to fulfill this dream, how to become the president of your own state?

Definition

How to create a legal state, if you have no idea what it is? It is necessary to decide what it is - you need to do this first of all for yourself in order to avoid many difficulties in building a country in the future. If you try to streamline the information found in various sources, it turns out that the state is a political community, united by a common territory and the power of the ruler, which has a control apparatus.

Before you create your own state, you will definitely have to work out such moments as the legislative branch, the judiciary, the executive branch, because it will be much easier for a person who has created a powerful base to make his dream come true. Such a country will be much easier to function.

When the whole theory is worked out in one way or another, it is also necessary to decide on such things as the flag, coat of arms and anthem. It is by these signs that the world community will recognize the new state.

Not a formality at all!

The flag, as a rule, reflects the essence of the country, that is, what this state can be proud of. As for the anthem, everything is quite simple. As a rule, its melody sounds solemn and bravura, the words sink into the soul and convince the person living in this country of the inevitability of a brighter future. It follows that a person who decides to create his own state needs to connect poets and composers who will write the words of the anthem, based on how a person sees his future country.

Theoretical part

Before you create your own state, you need to decide on its internal structure, that is, on what exactly the new one will be. It is necessary to think through all the points of social policy and economics. You can resort to already existing systems of society. Be it anarchy, socialism, communism, monarchy, theocracy. You can, however, follow the path of creating your own political idea.

It is worth noting that it is almost impossible to create an ideal state (as historical experience shows). The development of your own theory of the structure of the country will delay the creation of a separate state for an even longer period, so the best solution in this case would be to use the already existing political systems that were mentioned above.

On the world political stage

After you complete all the points from the theoretical part of the instructions on how to create your own state, the most difficult stage will come - the recognition of the country by the world community. This is the longest and not very easy process. This requires that the country be endowed with a territory. It is desirable that this area was not inhabited by anyone. But if a person who decides to create his own state has the necessary amount of money, then the land can be redeemed.

There are cases when the world community does not recognize a given country, but a territorial entity is still considered a state. Some lawyers say that such a territorial entity can even be considered a subject of international law, however, a postscript is attached to such an entity - an "unrecognized" or "partially recognized" state.

Create a new state on the Internet?

There is a kind of state called "virtual countries". Entities like these tend to be social media groups or interest forums where people play the country. The most interesting thing is that even in such “states” there is a clear division into classes, their own management system, law enforcement agencies, schools, hospitals and even armies. This is the easiest way to feel like a ruler of countries - to create a model of the state without making it a reality.

Summarizing

In any case, the creation of one's own country opens up new ways for a person to develop. Own country can be the impetus for the development of something really real. However, do not forget about the difficulties that were described above. but still man is given the right to choose.

In addition, he has the ability to create a new state. The main thing is to get support from the citizens of the future country!

It turns out that becoming a happy owner, and at the same time the ruler of the state, is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. To this day, there are microstates, which are small tracts of land that have been proclaimed independent from the main countries of the world. They are called differently: microstates, and cyberstates, and fantasy or virtual states, or simply micronations. Moreover, micro is really very small territories. Against the background of these states, Monaco or Liechtenstein seem like giants. But in the vast majority of cases, these microcountries exist only in the imagination of their creators - on paper or on the Internet. Since the beginning of the 1990s, more than a thousand such "countries" have been formed, but not all of them managed to survive. The most "persistent" have reached their key goal and achieved recognition by issuing "their" coins, flags, postage stamps, medals and even passports, as well as participating in international forums, publishing books and videos, holding various sporting events.

The microstate of Sealand is located in the Atlantic, 10 kilometers from the coast of Great Britain. Physically, the territory of the state arose during World War II. In 1942, the British Navy built a series of platforms on the approaches to the coast. Only one of them managed to survive, it was the Roughs Tower (literally: "hooligan tower"). After 24 years, retired British Army Major Paddy Roy Bates found it to be the best location for his pirate radio station, Britain's Better Music Station. And then, like in a fairy tale. To avoid prosecution by the British authorities, Bates declared the platform a sovereign state and proclaimed himself Prince Roy I. He succeeded, and now every year, on September 2, since 1967, Sealand celebrates the day of its proclamation.

Prince Roy I lived up to his title for a long time and fought for his "piece of land". In June 1967, the former partner of the newly minted Prince of Sealand, O'Reilly, tried to take control of the island, but was rebuffed by Bates's men, who defended the tower with small arms, Molotov cocktails, gasoline bombs and even flamethrowers. The next time, Sealand was defeated and captured, and its inhabitants taken prisoner until foreign nations came to their defense. A year later, the inhabitants of Sealand had to withstand a new onslaught. In 1968, the British authorities tried to occupy the young state. Patrol boats approached the platform, but the princely family responded with warning shots in the air. The matter did not come to bloodshed, but a trial was initiated against Prince Roy as a British citizen, as a result of which Bates was acquitted. Next, the virtual state was to suffer from a fire. And in 1978, Sealand went to war with workers hired by a German businessman who intended to dismantle the platform for scrap. At first, the aggressors won, but Prince Roy did not give up until the last and repelled the attack. The captured businessman repented and accepted the citizenship of Sealand.

The microstate also turned out to be a good source of income. After the radio station closed down, Roy delved into the World Wide Web and created a new internet service. For a fee, anyone can become a baron or lord of Sealand. More than 700 people have already become citizens of the micronation, and Roy I managed to transfer his power to Michael I. In addition, up to 150 thousand fake Sealand passports circulate in the world. In a word, a full-fledged country with its own passports, flag, coat of arms, coups, an alternative government in exile, only a very small one.

The example of Sealand was followed by another microstate - Molossia, which declared itself an independent country in 1977, more precisely, its irremovable head Kevin Bo (first - the king, later - the president). It is located on a narrow strip of land partly in the state of Nevada, partly in the state of California. At first, Molossia was an absolute monarchy, but in 1999 the constitution was amended and it became a republic. In theory, Molossia has its own government, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Relations, the Ministry of Right and Wrong Conduct, the Ministry of Rocks, Sands and Dust Storms, and the Ministry of National Cuisine. The budget of the micronation is made up of the main income from the activities of the souvenir shop, located in the personal residence of the president. English is recognized as the official language of a small country, but its entire population, consisting of four people, speaks using the "desert alphabet" created by the Mormons in the middle of the 19th century. Molossia became famous for its "hard rules", where bright luminous balls, cats, fish and tobacco are outlawed. Residents of a non-smoking country were the first to take part in the International Olympic Games among microstates.

Christopher Columbus became the discoverer not only of America, but also of a small micronation. Redonda was proclaimed an independent state in 1493. Since then, many have encroached on the title of king of this strange uninhabited piece of rock, 56.2 km long. But, in fact, this small, uninhabited Caribbean island is still home to a few feral goats. It so happened historically that the only significant natural resource of Redonda was guano, banal bird droppings, which accumulated here up to 7 thousand tons per year. After World War I, all work was stopped, and the workers safely left the island, which has since become known as uninhabited. In 2007, a Wellington pub in England attempted to declare itself the Redonda Embassy in response to a workplace smoking ban, which was denied. This is where the island's story ends.

But there are states that are even less fortunate than the state of the Redonde mountain goats. The Republic of Rosaland was destroyed by the Italian naval forces for tax evasion. The moment of the explosion of the state of Roseland by the Italian fleet is captured even on postage stamps. Another unsuccessful example of an attempt to create a micronation was made by the brother of the famous Ernest Hemingway, Leicester, but Mexican fishermen immediately sacked his settlement, known as New Atlantis. The island republic of Minevra was immediately annexed to Tongo.

The whimsical Empire Atlantium, located in Sydney, continues to exist to this day. The empire claims a part of the territory of Australia - 10 sq.m. one of the suburbs of Sydney, but its political and legal status is still in question. In the meantime, more than one thousand citizens of Atlantium continue to live according to their original calendar, starting from the last ice age (according to him, now the year is 10,527).

The process of creating microstates that control, although negligible, territories has been going on almost throughout the history of mankind. But today it is more difficult than ever to create a new state, the world no longer has free territories. But the founders of states do not lose heart and come up with more and more incredible ways to solve this problem.

193 states are members of the UN. However, there are such countries on Earth that will never get into any major international organization. For example, the country of Sealand is so small that it is located on a large platform, and only members of one family live in Molossia. The Kingdom of Northern Sudan was a gift for a six-year-old girl. Journalist Ted Roll is sure that whatever the intentions of the founders of these states, big countries are unlikely to ever recognize them. Details - in the material RT.

You may have never heard of the Enclave kingdom, but that's no surprise, as it has just appeared. A new so-called microstate has emerged on the border between Serbia and Croatia, joining a growing group of self-proclaimed countries.

One of them is the Republic of Molossia, located on the territory that belongs to the family that founded it. Citizens of the Free Republic of Liberland can decide for themselves whether to pay them or not. And the kingdom of North Sudan was a gift for a six-year-old girl from her father. “Emily asked if she could be a real princess, and being a good father, I didn’t want to disappoint her. Therefore, I began to look for a piece of land where we could create a new country,” said Jeremiah Heaton, who calls himself the king of Northern Sudan.

“Unfortunately, in order to obtain citizenship, you must be related to us. All citizens of Molossia are members of the Bo family, and I am literally the father of my country. Most states do not recognize a microstate as it is a breakaway piece of another country. They do not like to recognize the seceded territories as full-fledged states,” said “President of the Republic of Molossia” Kevin Bo.

One of the oldest microstates is located near and is called Sealand. The country declared its independence in 1967. As in many other cases, its creation was intended to draw the attention of the authorities to some problems within the UK.

Journalist Ted Roll believes that whatever the intentions of the founders of these states, even the best, small countries are unlikely to receive attention.

“People decide to create their own microstate for various reasons. The only way to know for sure is to ask the founders themselves. For the most part, it seems to me, they are driven to this desire to feel independent from other countries, the desire to decide their own fate, ”says Ted Roll.

“Many do it for fun, including to draw attention to the fact that state status is an arbitrary thing. The main thing in this status is the ability to defend the borders, and everything else - the army, money, stamps, and so on - is just a husk. I believe that large, real and recognized countries will simply try not to notice such demarches in the hope that everything will go away by itself,” the journalist said.

And so it always is, the one with more power and influence will crush the smaller side. But I wonder if it is possible to create your own state today? I think many rich people would like this, for them it would be a good, albeit difficult, opportunity to settle down with money, a whole country, even a small one, and the title of king or president, depending on the chosen monarchical system. But I think today, alas, it will be impossible to do this, and where? In Antarctica? Or maybe in the Arctic? It's too cold, although if my memory serves me, in some parts of the North Pole, then in the Arctic, people live, the so-called Chukchi. Although there are many research stations both at the north and south poles, they already belong to countries and cannot be the foundation of the country. But really, is it possible to fulfill the dream and create your own country, and do it, for example, in the vastness of Antarctica? as for me, in principle, this idea is feasible, but ... perhaps there is too much a lot of difficulties with which it will be possible to cope by the end or even in the next century. For example, drinking water, getting water from the ocean and processing it? For this, special devices and machines are needed, the name of which I am not in a dream, but still, they need a building. Now about the building, as everyone understands, a building is required, moreover, it is very well fortified so that it is not blown away by strong winds, it seems that there are strong winds there, and it must also be well insulated, otherwise the residents of this country and the building will freeze, so the building itself, without being insulated, runs the risk of completely frostbite and may even begin to collapse, but I think it will depend on the metal, this alone will require huge investments of money, but you still need the economy, communication with other countries, you will need TVs and other devices and devices which we all use in everyday life, or am I wrong? You will have to spend a lot of money to create your own country in such regions, and in my opinion it is best to make a city / country under a huge dome, or if you plan to have many cities, then either make several domes with separate pipes for passing through them, or one huge dome. But be that as it may, you all already understood that you just need a whole ... a lot of money, here you don’t put in a word, it’s clear that it’s a lot, so fantasize yourself 😉 But this will not be achieved far away in our times, half a century will be needed for sure, because still nature and filling the country and all that, plus convenient ways to get there and the possibility of traveling from the country, but in this case, in the same 50 years, it will already be possible to build cities on the water, so why not close up a flood country? And why not immediately make an underwater country ??) And what a great idea, but as for the country and cities on the surface, in the sky somewhere that may be able to move, it will take even more time, as well as the occupation of other planets and making them workable, but let's get back to reality. Everyone knows that Russia is a very large country, if I’m not mistaken the largest country in the world, but the truth is not the first in terms of population, but only in the leading places and in this regard there are many empty areas, although yes, of course and certainly this is all determined also by the fact that there are many anomalous zones, some of which, in addition or directly, are called death zones. Judging by that, in those free intervals, it would be possible to create far more than one state. But back to the topic of creating a country in neutral waters. In principle, this is possible, but the truth will also be costly, because you will either have to redeem the islands, or look for empty ones and increase both redeemed and found ones, or create your own islands by finding initially high places that are closer to the surface, and then you have to perform some of the actions to solve the problems described above, in short, it will not be easy, costly, and at first no one will take you seriously, in the sense of your state. It will be something like a game that I played. There are 6 great countries so to speak. You can start taking away their lands through war, but at first, when you have several cities or castles in your possession, and even more so 1 or one of them, they won’t take you very seriously when you want there to make peace with other states or something else, then in the messages that you receive through your ambassadors, you are addressed by name and not by title, but here you will be lucky if you are called at least by name and not captured, because now there are not a few sea the pirates are divorced, so you will also have to create defenses. In general and in short, the matter is too complicated and requires great expenses, both monetary and mental, so it will probably not be possible for one, but in principle it is possible, I hope I didn’t tire anyone, goodbye)

In our time, every savvy person can create their own state. Of course, this will not necessarily make him rich, but it will certainly make him famous. We have collected 7 real cases from modern history one man could at least for a while create your own country.

Paradoxically, the Second World War served as an indirect reason for the creation of a state called Sealand. During the Battle of Britain, the British authorities, in order to secure the coast of the country, built many military platforms along it. During their construction, no one thought about international maritime law and the boundaries of territorial waters, because the main thing at that time was the country's security.

But in 1967, retired British major Paddy Roy Bates drew attention to the fact that the Roughs Tower platform is located outside the territorial waters of the United Kingdom, therefore, does not fall under the jurisdiction of this state and is considered no man's land. He landed on this object and proclaimed it an independent country with the name Sealand.

Attempts by the authorities to return the platform through military and legal means came to nothing. Moreover, the court decided that this case was outside British jurisdiction. This fact is the main argument of supporters of the independence of Sealand.

The authorities of Sealand actively began to earn money on the status of this country. They began to issue stamps, coins and even passports of their state. In 2000, the servers of the hosting company HavenCo moved to the platform, and in 2012 official tourist trips to Sealand began.

In 1972, the American entrepreneur Michael Oliver decided not to look for some free space on the world map in order to establish his own state there, but to create it artificially. He chose two small reefs in the Pacific Ocean and covered them with sand brought on a barge from Australia.

On January 19, 1972, the Republic of Minerva was founded on the new island, which was supposed to be the first libertarian country in history, a state without taxes, benefits, subsidies and other “negative” economic phenomena, according to Oliver.

But the history of the new independent republic was quickly cut short. In February 1972, the nearby Kingdom of Tonga declared a new piece of land in the ocean its territory, and in the summer its troops landed there, annexing the island.

Interestingly, the Kingdom of Tonga itself eventually came into conflict with the Republic of Fiji over this territory. The latter announced in 2005 its claims to the Minerva reefs.

Seasteading is called the hypothetical creation of objects floating in the ocean, each of which positions itself as a separate, independent state. It can even be a ship, such as a cruise ship. But recently there are developments of different shapes and sizes. This is done by the Seasteading Institute with the support of the American billionaire Peter Thiel.

Peter Thiel was one of the founders of the electronic payment system PayPal. He plans to use it as the main means of payment among the inhabitants of free maritime states. We are talking about several platforms in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the US state of California, where Silicon Valley is located - the world center for the development of new technologies.

Each such platform should become an independent state based on libertarian principles. It will not have taxes, visas, army and social security. Maximum economic freedom, maximum freedom for the individual.

Peter Thiel promises that the first such floating island, capable of accommodating 270 people permanently, will appear off the coast of California as early as 2019.

The love of an ordinary American for his own daughter and the desire to make her a real princess is the main reason why the creation of the state was proclaimed in the summer of 2014.

Northern Sudan is located on the border of Sudan and Egypt in the so-called Bir Tawil Triangle. We are talking about a territory with an area of more than 2 thousand square kilometers, which neighboring states, due to a legal incident and territorial disputes, refuse to consider it their own.

American Jeremiah Heaton discovered this neutral zone on the map when he decided to turn his little daughter into a real princess, because she dreamed about it so much. In August 2014, he went there and planted on one of the peaks in Bir Tawil the flag of the unoccupied land of the Kingdom of Northern Sudan, which he established by right.

Heaton now plans to get recognition for Northern Sudan by Egypt, Sudan, and the African Union. He plans to start developing this land with the help of thousands of volunteers and investors, turning a deserted, lifeless area into an economically developed region.

Some sections of the border between Serbia and Croatia have not yet been defined and, accordingly, not marked on the ground. These two countries are arguing about the nationality of some of the islands on the Danube. In particular, the island of Gornja Siga with an area of 7 square kilometers has a suspended status.

Taking advantage of this uncertainty and the status of terra nullius (no man's land), the Czech journalist and public figure Vit Edlicka proclaimed this island the independent state of Liberland in April 2015.

Edlicka offered to join the new European nation to everyone. At the moment, more than 250 thousand people from all over the world have already applied for citizenship. Activists want to turn their small island into a developed democratic state, where there will be a place for any undertakings. “Live and let live” is the motto of Liberland.

I must say that the Croatian authorities took this movement very seriously. They tried to restrict access to the island of Gornja Siga and even temporarily arrested Vit Edlicka himself, but were forced to release him under public pressure.

But the Lithuanian authorities are quite tolerant of coexistence on the same territory with another country - the Republic of Užupis. This state entity was founded in 1997 by residents of one of the districts of the city of Vilnius.

The quarter with the name Užupis (District) at that time was quite a depressing place. They decided to revive it by declaring independence and turning the district into a republic of artists and poets.

Now in Uzupis you can find many art galleries, workshops and shops, as well as several cafes. Government meetings are held in one of these restaurants.

The Republic of Užupis has its own coat of arms, anthem, currency, Constitution, army and even customs. True, the latter works only one day a year - April 1, when the Independence of this small state is celebrated. Then anyone can put a stamp in the passport at the border booth on the bridge over the Vilenka River.

As mentioned above, the authorities of Vilnius have nothing against the existence of the Užupis Republic on its territory. Moreover, the mayor of the city Arturas Zuokas himself lives in the area and is one of the activists of the state of artists and poets.

You've probably seen the feature film Always Say Yes, about a man whose life quickly changed for the better after he began to say yes to absolutely every opportunity. It turns out that this movie is based on the book by English humorist Danny Wallace, who, indeed, lived for a whole year without the word "no" in the lexicon.

But in his life there were many equally interesting stories. For example, in 2005, Wallace proclaimed the independent state of the Kingdom of Lovely in his East London apartment.

Danny Wallace began active work on state building in his Kingdom. He invited everyone to obtain citizenship of the new country, and also tried to achieve its recognition from the United Kingdom and even the UN. True, it was not successful. But more than 51 thousand people have become citizens of the Kingdom of Lovely during the existence of the country.

Wallace recorded all his actions on camera for a documentary broadcast on the BBC.

However, the world is gradually coming to an understanding that the state as such in its current form may soon cease to exist, because it is being replaced by private initiatives. You can read about it in our review.
