Today in the review of iOS 11 we will look at what the new version has prepared for us, how the design has changed and what new features have appeared. Support for this version has been received by devices starting with the iPhone 5S. Unfortunately, we did not see absolutely revolutionary things, but there were many small changes that pleasantly surprised.
Appearance design
Cellular indicator
The changes affected the appearance of the cellular signal indicator. The indicator in the form of dots was replaced by a ladder, which was in older versions of iOS.
Application design
The design of some applications has changed in iOS 11, some of these applications are the Apps Store, Podcasts. The design of applications has become similar to the design of the Music application, it becomes clear that Apple is moving towards a unified application design on its OS.
The calculator has also been transformed in the new version, the button shapes have acquired a rounded shape and become more minimalistic.
"Dark theme" in iOS 11
In iOS 11, the so-called “dark theme” appeared, of course, this cannot be called a full-fledged theme. To activate it, you need to go to "Settings" → "General" → "Accessibility" → "Display adaptation" → "Color inversion" and activate Smart Inversion.

Command centre
The first thing worth mentioning is probably the completely redesigned control center, it has changed a little more than completely. First, there was something that many have been waiting for so much. Now, in order to make your own control center with the widgets you need only, you need to go to the "Control Center" and configure it the way you want.
In all iPhones that support 3D Touch, it will be a nice bonus that when you long press on the widget in the Control Center, various additional options appear. So when you click on the Flashlight widget, you will be able to adjust the brightness of the flashlight. Depending on the version of your device, certain options will appear.
Consider the example of the iPhone 7, if in the "Control Center" we click on the "Camera" using 3D Touch, then options such as "Selfie Snapshot", "Video Recording", "Slow Motion Video", "Take a Snapshot" appear, but if we had an iPhone 7 Plus in our hands, then there would be another option "Portrait mode", but we did not have one, since the iPhone 7 does not support photos in portrait mode.
Recall that the iPhone 5S, 6 does not have 3D Touch, so additional options are displayed with the usual long press.
After 10 versions of their operating system, they finally made a separate icon for the cellular network in the Control Center. Previously, in order to turn off the cellular network, you had to turn on “Airplane Mode”, because only its icon was in the “Control Center”, thereby turning off both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, then you had to go to “Settings” and turn them on again, and this It was very inconvenient, but in iOS 11 everything has changed.
Camera
The standard Camera application has learned to recognize QR codes. To do this, you should point the camera at the QR code, after which the decoded notification will pop up. You no longer need to download third-party applications that will still take up memory on your device.
Screenshot editing
The screenshot can now be opened, edited and sent to whomever you need immediately after you have taken it.
Document Scanner
The standard iOS camera can also now scan a document in notes. It works so far damply, but even now it can be used.
Application Files
The Files application appeared in the main menu, information about which leaked a few hours before the presentation of the new version of the OS. While the application is a similar replacement for iCloud Drive, we are waiting for further development of this application from the developers.
Screen recording
iOS users now have the ability to record the screen of their device. To do this, hold down the special Screen Recording icon in the Control Center. Now you do not need to look for auxiliary applications for recording, because now everything is done in a couple of taps.
AirPods
The next update will please owners of AirPods, but for those who do not have them, it will give them a reason to buy such a headset. In general, in addition to Play, Pause and Siri, you can now reassign the function of switching the track forward or backward by double tapping. The main plus is that for each earpiece the command can be set separately, tap on the left earphone - the previous track, tap on the right - the next one.
Keyboard
The changes also affected the keyboard, just hold down the language change icon, as you will be able to type with your right or left hand. The keyboard is shifted to the right or left side depending on the selected mode. Initially, you can be skeptical about this, but it is worth recognizing that there is a certain convenience in this.
Notification shade
The notification curtain has also changed a bit, when you swap it down, the latest notifications are displayed, with another swap down, it disappears, but if we want to view older notifications, we need to swap from the bottom up, after which they will be displayed.
Additional functions
iMessage now has the ability to send money using Apple Pay. Also, in a dialogue with the interlocutor, you can send him an audio recording, an application from the App Store that you would like to recommend for installation.
