About the college
The St. Petersburg Paramedic Medical College was founded in 1900, its foundation was the Kaufman community of nurses of mercy. In 1919, the community was reorganized into a nursing school, and later into a medical college. In 2003, the educational institution was renamed the Feldsher Medical College. Over the long years of its existence, the technical school has trained and graduated more than tens of thousands of qualified medical specialists. Today, the educational institution is called the Medical Assistant College. The technical school conducts its work on the basis of a state license for the right to conduct educational activities, which is issued to the technical school by the Education Committee under the Government of the city of St. Petersburg.
The training of qualified specialists in the technical school is carried out in accordance with modern educational standards in the following areas: "Medicine" on the basis of the eleventh grades, "Nursing" on the basis of the ninth and eleventh grades. The term of study for applicants on the basis of the ninth grade is 3 years and 10 months, for those entering on the basis of the eleventh grade - 2 years and 10 months. Admission to the technical school does not require passing additional entrance examinations. If necessary, a competition of the average score of certificates is held. If a student does not qualify for the budget through the competition, he is given the opportunity to study at a technical school on a contractual basis. In addition to training mid-level specialists, the technical school conducts retraining of specialists and provides additional educational services. Full-time students studying at a technical school receive a deferment from service in the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
For graduates of the ninth and eleventh grades who plan to enter the Medical Assistant College, preparatory courses are organized and run on the basis of the educational institution. Preparation at the courses is carried out in the subjects necessary for the successful passing of the GIA and the Unified State Examination (Russian language, mathematics, chemistry, biology). Courses are taught by leading teachers of the technical school.
The teaching staff of the Medical Assistant College is represented by highly professional specialists, including candidates of sciences, teachers with the highest and first qualification category, teachers awarded with badges of honor by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Education Committee under the Administration of the city of St. Petersburg. The educational process in the technical school provides for comprehensive training of students, teaching not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills. Students spend a lot of time in laboratories, undergo educational and industrial practice in large medical institutions of St. Petersburg.
The material and technical equipment of the technical school allows students to receive a quality education that fully meets the current educational standards and GOST requirements in the field of secondary vocational education. The college has spacious classrooms, classrooms, laboratories, computer classes, a sports complex, an assembly hall, a library, a canteen, and a first-aid post. Foreign and non-resident students are not provided with a place in the hostel.
At the end of the course of study, graduates of the Medical Assistant College receive a state-recognized diploma of secondary vocational education, on the basis of which they can work in their specialty in medical and preventive institutions of the country.
