Once I already wrote about the wedding of Comrade Polyansky's daughter, the very one that Dovlatov sang. And he sang it for a reason, because there was a story about the history of Galich's exclusion from the Writers' Union. Like, the last straw was an angry letter from a member of the Politburo Polyansky. His daughter married the actor of the Taganka Theater Ivan Dykhovichny. Vysotsky was supposed to come to the wedding. But he was not there, and then the youth turned on the recordings of Galich. Polyansky suddenly returned, listened, and was terribly indignant. The subtlety is that Vysotsky did come to the wedding, so the young people did not turn on Galich's recordings, but listened to the living Vysotsky. A denunciation of Galich to the Union of Writers was written by another Polyansky, a namesake - a children's writer. But Galich really liked this story, and he once said to Dykhovichny: "Van, yes, it's clear that all this is nonsense. But you must admit that nonsense is beautiful."

Elena Yakovich makes absolutely wonderful documentaries. She became famous twenty years ago with the series "Walks with Brodsky", where Brodsky and the Rhine walked with the film crew around Venice. Yesterday, her new film about the pianist Elizaveta Leonskaya () was shown on the Kultura channel. The film is absolutely wonderful, Leonskaya tells about Brodsky, Oleg Kagan (she was his first wife), Richter, her departure to Vienna in 1978. The film crew, together with Leonskaya, enters one and a half rooms of Brodsky on Pestel Street, where there is a piano in an empty room, and photographs taken on the day of Brodsky's departure from the Soviet Union are hung on the wall: a kitchen, a desk, a player with a Mozart record - the last music that he listened at home (*).

Announcing this film on Facebook, Elena Yakovich wrote an emotional text,

On Tuesday, October 16, exactly at midnight, at 00.00 and on Friday, the 19th at 13.15 "Culture" will show the film "Elizaveta Leonskaya. The blacker the record, the more impossible it is to finish playing it." This is a very personal film for me. It began in 1996, when Brodsky's widow Maria gave Lesha Shishov and me for the film "From Nowhere with Love. Memories of Joseph Brodsky" the shooting of the memorial service in the Cathedral of New York. Then on March 8, 1996, on the fortieth day, in the Cathedral of St. John, where his friends from all over the world gathered, not only Brodsky’s poems and the organ natural for the temple sounded, but also the piano, at which a woman was sitting. We did not know then that this was Lisa Leonskaya, the famous pianist and his girlfriend - Brodsky dedicated the poem "Bagatelle" and Christmas poems of 1994 to her. She specially learned Mozart's Rondo for the memorial service. He listened to the record with this music on the night of June 3-4, 1972 - before leaving Leningrad and Beloved Fatherland forever. After escorting him to the airport, his friend Mikhail Milchik returned to "one and a half rooms" and took a picture of the player, on which, it seems, the endless rondo is still spinning. "The blacker the record, the more impossible it is to finish playing it."

The subtlety is that at the memorial service for Brodsky in New York, Leonskaya played Rondo K511 (at the beginning of the film there is a fragment of this performance, you can compare it), but the music on the disc is completely different (Divertissement N. 17, K. 334/320b). However, this is all nonsense (albeit beautiful), but for now I will put on Mozart's Rondo.

(*) From an interview with the photographer:

- There are a lot of English-language literature in your pictures on Brodsky's bookshelves...

Joseph was fond of English and American poetry. He independently learned the language, read, translated, even tried to get me addicted to this business. On the shelf he had a portrait of his beloved poet Wisten Auden, whom he managed to meet when he arrived in Vienna - Auden soon passed away. A photograph of Robert Frost, whom he greatly appreciated and wrote a poem dedicated to his memory ...

Another photo shows a record player and a long-playing record with Mozart's "17th divertissement". Did you often hear music at your meetings?

Yes, Joseph was a great music lover. Music for him was in second place in importance after poetry. Mozart's record is the last thing he listened to before leaving the country.

M. Yu. Lermontov would certainly appreciate such a wonderfully free treatment of his "Demon".

And this is not "Demon" at all - but the urban romance "Charming Eyes". With a slight such "demonic" bias. An example of the "high calm" of urban philistine speech.

The urban philistine speech of the late 19th and early 20th centuries is a unique phenomenon. Everywhere you can hear its echoes - both in the gypsy romance, and in the urban "cruel" romance and chanson that we still love so much. She has absorbed elements of high poetry, and scientism, and professional slang, and thieves' vocabulary.

This phenomenon spread widely and everywhere in the middle of the 19th century, after the abolition of serfdom, when the bourgeois urban class, already “beautifully speaking”, was replenished with people from the villages who wanted to join the “civilian life” and “high style” and also express themselves beautifully, picking up smart turns "from the bar and from the city", while not parting with their everyday speech.

Almost all Russian writers paid tribute to this colorful urban speech - and, and Bunin, and, and Teleshov and, a little later,. Let us recall Chekhov's "Smart Janitor": "You cannot see any civilization in you. Because your brother does not have a real point. Touching chief conductor Stychkin, who wants to combine "the bonds of Abbess", and the clerk Epikhodov, "completely brought to a state of mind." And all this - not from the ceiling, but from the thick of the then life.

And here are the real curiosities of the signs: “Tavern Shelter of Spring with Strong Drinks”, a Caucasian tavern “Don't leave, my dear”, “Occultist. Glasses, pince-nez, lorgnettes, Sh. B. Gurevich "" Fashions and desu Adel Karlovna", "Hairdresser Musyu Zhoris-Pankratov", "Honey and lemonade-gazes Monsieur Philip Baikov", "Professor of chansonnet art Andrey Zakharovich Serpoletti". Right away I want chansonnet art and cancan in a professorial performance.

From the statements cited by E. P. Ivanov, especially for lovely ladies who are fond of cooking: “Veal - innocence in the lunch menu”, “Rapture and magic with sturgeon in galantire”.

High hairdressing "calm": "The nature of the nature of a living being is your hairstyle. A continuous fluctuation of all seven senses of nature. The hairdresser of those times is generally a sensitive, haberdashery creature and feels beauty like no one else. "Ah, what perfection of nature and their art in nature decollete."

« I heard a wonderful story
What is a sorceress alone
Merceda gave her a name,
And her life is dark for us
”, - a “hairdressing” romance.

Pisari: “Boxing, if you please, insult by action with damage to the anatomical part of the body”; "He, my lords, by reasoning in life died from a rope."

This "beautiful calm of explanation" manifested itself most fully in the urban romance - about cruel or unrequited love, with "passions to shreds", often with betrayals and "murders".

The urban romance, which turned into a “criminal romance” and further into an urban chanson and an author's song, had its own symbolism.

For example, names. Marusya, Maruska, Manechka, Anichka - the object of unrequited love or the victim of tragic love. Manka is a traitor, a traitor. Ninon, Nineta - a frivolous air coquette. Vanka is a hero-lover, a traitor and a lover (since the days of “Vanka the Key Keeper”), Sasha or Seryozha are the hero’s friends or noble lovers. Paul or Jean is a tragic, mysterious and infernal figure. Often does not understand himself.

« He's not handsome, but he's very cute.
Hello in his mouth.
In speeches, Paul was always nihilistic,
Gave Marieta a bouquet of flowers.
He could not explain the suffering,
And one day he decided with himself.
Pointed the muzzle of a revolver at the temple
And ended life, broken career
»

As a rule, the scene of action, often exotic, is indicated. “In distant sunny and sultry Argentina”, “There is a small house in Italy”, “Did you know about Barcelona? There is one Andalusian woman there” (This tradition will continue later: “Three beauties of miracles walked the streets of Madrid…”, “In the Cape Town port, with cocoa on board the Jeanette straightened the rigging”).

So, “Marusya got poisoned, they took her to the hospital” ... Or even more dramatic, however, and much later: “Maruska immediately realized that things would go worse. And she stuck sixteen table knives into her chest. Maruska was taken to the crematorium on a tractor, and Vanka, her boyfriend, walked ahead with a flag.

As a rule, in situations of untimely and tragic death of the main character, the hero-lover falls into remorse and self-flagellation: “I ruined your whole life, I myself will answer for everything. Please sleep in about rtfel, I have four hundred grams of ashes. In the case of unrequited love, he begins to threaten suicide.

"Angel Anichka is charming,
I write you a poem
With a wonderful souvenir
I present it to you.
Ah, take this rose
And go to the wonderful garden.
I tore a splinter out of my heart
And very glad to be free.”

"Sorry if the stanzas
Your peace has been disturbed.
sorry if the waves
They will hide my corpse under the river"

“Yesterday I was at the post office, I read your letter
And with a hot tear he listened to the holy words.
Dove you, Nineta,
The cage is my love for you.
My song is all sung
I won't start it again."

In general, "and from the arrow of that Cupid, a figure of love burns in me."

The urban romance and philistine speech of those times inspired the current postmodernists a lot - and this pleases. I would like, I really want that all this, sweet, funny, unique and touching, does not go away, does not sink, is not forgotten ... Such a powerful cultural layer - alive and still touching the soul, making you smile ... Why not sometimes “speak beautifully? »

“Still, I’m not some kind of subject, and I have my own genre in my soul ...” And you?

WE WILL LIVE AGAIN ACCORDING TO THE OLD CALENDAR

Putin at the congress of "United Russia", as if dedicated to the start of his election campaign, was scattered in praise of the party, of which he is not a member:

“With many in this hall, we created United Russia together. They did this at a difficult stage in the life of the state, when the country needed a powerful, unifying political force for its confident development. And "United Russia" has fulfilled and continues to fulfill this task ... Deserved leadership by real deeds in the interests of citizens ... "

Some kind of political abracadabra turns out. “We say Putin - we mean EP, we say EP - we mean Putin ...” But the best ruler of Russia for some reason, for some reason, did not want to enter the best party of all times. Imagine, Lenin or Stalin would say: "The Communist Party is our honor, conscience and helmsman, but I will steer separately from it." "I respect - but I will not drink with you."

Well, in our time, unprecedented deals with conscience and different partners, which just does not happen! But in terms of these transactions - some kind of nonsense.

The law allows a presidential candidate to be nominated by a party of which he is not a member - however, Putin rejected the nomination from his own United Russia, which he created for the sake of "confident development."

That is, you are my own family, but I will “develop confidently” from another family. It would not be bad to somehow explain, but Putin did not say a single word about this. They say I love you, I kiss you - "and you don't expect anything more."

But then he said a big speech - full of general clichés:

“To meet global challenges, protect people from threats and shocks, create conditions for the growth of prosperity… Overcome the consequences of demographic failures… Healthy lifestyles, affordable housing… Fighting poverty, but without unfulfilled promises and scattering money… Achieve GDP growth above the world… Improve and liberalize legislation…”

In general, for everything good, against everything bad - but how? About this - no gu-gu. No mechanism, no fulcrum. If this is the program of candidate Putin, then he obviously did not pass his “candidate minimum” ...

On the other hand, he pleased both the abandoned party and all the others with his next delicious pearl “about fates”:

“Russia is a country with a thousand-year history. But we should not treat her like a beloved grandmother: give her medicine on time so that she doesn’t get sick, and stop there. Not! We must make Russia young, striving forward ... "
But how to make Russia young? - Solve the problems that we just talked about.

And how to solve them?

“Make significant changes in the development of healthcare and education, because without healthcare and education we cannot solve the key task - to give our economy an innovative character, develop digitalization, biotechnologies ... Sick, uneducated people cannot do this. Everything in the modern world is interconnected…”

Words, words, words ... Bazarov’s expression from Turgenev’s “Fathers and Sons” evokes in the memory of those who studied in the Soviet school: “My friend Arkady, I ask you one thing: do not speak beautifully!”

Alas, the gap between Putin's word and deed is growing before our eyes - and the feeling is that he alone does not notice this. True, he referred to Medvedev, who de owns all the technical lining. But we know this lining from the prime minister's much less curly words: “There is no money, but you hold on. If you don’t want to teach children for pennies, go into business!”

And Putin continues to bend this increasingly dead-end line in favor of the United Russia, the Medvedev government, the head of the Central Bank Nabiullina, the “academician of digital sciences” Chubais and the oligarchs plundering Russia.

But the question is: if this line, even in the fat years, which allowed you to buy the whole of Silicon Valley, like a bunch of radishes, for our innovations, did not lead to success - why will it now?
The main candidate, judging by his words, does not have another general line, even amendments to it ...

But the two main candidates for second place, which the entire Internet is now buzzing about, have it.

This is, firstly, Pavel Grudinin, director and main shareholder of the Lenin state farm near Moscow, whom the Congress of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation has just approved as a presidential candidate. By the way, he, as if in the spirit of some over-given trend, is not a member of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, but nevertheless he goes from it to storm the Kremlin, having made Zyuganov himself his chief of staff. That is, serious intentions - almost a backup dancer with a soloist, but his own solo number! What other citizens believed in full - vowing to vote for him with their hands and feet.

The reason is the dreamy rumors that spread around Russia “by themselves” that Grudinin built a separate socialist paradise in his state farm.
And that the financial backbone of this paradise - the surrender of the lands adjacent to the capitalist hell-MKAD for the trading babylons of all Caucasians and the construction of country palaces - is not a hitch for proselytes.
Well, yes, he uses this help for his holy strawberry farming! And who will say that these strawberry affairs are just a laundering of capital acquired on land rent, a capitalist bastard and an enemy of the working people!

Moreover, Grudinin raised the bar of his promises even more than Navalny, who promised, if he was elected, a minimum salary of 25 thousand, while Grudinin already had all 30 thousand.
And that is true: it is necessary for the people, who are impoverished before our eyes, to at least believe in something! In the 90s, the swindler Mavrodi, the author of the MMM pyramid, was an icon for him, promising every woman a refrigerator, and every man an apartment and a car.

A slightly smaller icon is Zhirinovsky with his more abstract promise: every man gets a bottle of vodka, every woman gets a sober man. And those who today are ready to scratch out the eyes of any enemy of Grudinin were then ready to tear to pieces the cops who closed the fabulous pyramid of Mavrodi - which now seems to have been revived in the fabulous Grudinin.

And finally - a couple of words about Ksenia Sobchak, who also formalized her presidential nomination at the congress of the "Civil Initiative".

This show lady decided to show herself more prudent than male rivals, who press on personal charisma and all sorts of magic words. And she presented her platform called "123 difficult steps" to the people's judgment.
And, I think, she immediately dropped the 2 percent of the votes promised to her by the statisticians. Since more or less serious people will not immediately believe that the eccentric heroine “against everyone”, who has created a two percent support for herself with this outstanding slogan, can fit so much in her head. And the frivolous do not like any specifics at all - they just give them any circus and frills in the political arena.
Why 123 steps - and not 23 or 666? The latter number would surely add more popularity to her...

But in general - a spectacle, alas, sad. Candidate number one is sticking to his former line - as if offering to live according to the old calendar in the new year.

Those who follow him do not even offer this, carefully hiding the main thing behind their dashing promises: how do they actually think of taking the palm from their general rival?
After all, it is clear even to a fool: they will not be given the keys to the power tower for good, even if all the people suddenly go crazy and vote for them.

In 1996, when the current iron vertical did not even exist, they were not given to Zyuganov, who won by votes, who now volunteered to lead Grudinin's headquarters. Grudinin - all the more they will not give up. And to pull them out by force - there is not even a hint of this in the speeches of the "new Zyuganov".

And something tells me that in the end we will continue to live in the old way - until some wind from a broken window rips this junk to shreds.
Until he comes - not on current stilts, but on living legs - another era, when neither God, nor the tsar, nor MMM, nor dummy candidates will fool our people, taught by bitter experience.
