In this guide, we will show you the exact location of these items so that you do not have to wander aimlessly through the desert for several hours.

Where to find four relics in NieR: Automata?

To start the Legacy of the Past quest, travel to the Desert Zone and make your way to the western edge of the map, starting from the location's entry point. There you will find an explorer standing next to the ruins. Talk to him and agree to return the relics that are scattered throughout the desert to him.

For each of the first three relics you return to the explorer, you will receive the following reward:

  • 5 thousand G (game currency);
  • 100 experience points;
  • 1 item (technical manual, amber, torn book).

Go to the 9S skill screen and change it below by equipping the android with a scanner that will let you know if a relic is nearby. The closer you get to the artifact of the old world, the faster the scanner will beep. When you get close to the relic, the scanning device will release a holographic cone and show you the exact location of the detected object.

Leave the explorer and follow the beep of the scanner to the first relic: the Old Wand, which can be found in a small area of ​​stone ruins surrounded by armless scout bots. The ruins are located near the access point to the Desert Center.

To find the next relic, head west from the Desert Center to the Desert Housing area and make sure the scanner is equipped on the androids. Near several large rocks, you will find a Mud Mask lying on the ground.

To find the third artifact, head a little away from the Desert Center - the desired object is located east of the explorer. The protected slab is hidden deep in the sand and there are no special sights or large rock formations near it, so just follow the scanner beep in the area indicated in the screenshot below.

The fourth and final relic - the Statue of the Girl - can be found in the sand near several stone ruins. After finding this artifact, a group of flying and ground robots will appear, which will immediately attack you. Well, now Nier: Automata has appeared on store shelves - a direct continuation of an unconventional game with poor gameplay. The developers realized their mistakes and skillfully took advantage of an additional attempt - the sequel embodies the excellent work on the bugs and skillfully deals with the problems of its predecessor.

But you have to play Nier Automata as these doll-like androids, where the first is a female robot named 2B, and the second is her partner with an incredibly optimistic attitude named 9S.

Such a team is entrusted with a task of the greatest importance, on the success or failure of which the fate of a person depends.

From the beginning of the passage, you will receive inspiring audio programs in which people will explain to you the importance of the task and generally repeat that without you they will not succeed.

True, it looks a little strange that these mythical creators, capable of designing perfect mechanisms, endowed robots with mortal flesh and the ability to feel. Not very suitable ingredients for the battle with the world's evil, right?

As a pair of androids, you have to die very, very often. However, this is the main mechanic of the game, since after each death, the robots will be transferred to a new body. AT this case, given the roguelike system and atmosphere , the decision on the death of heroes no longer looks so strange.

And graceful movements

Roguelike elements are not the only feature of Nier Automata that ties it to other popular games in the genre. Platinum Games would have made a big mistake if they had not used their own developments from other projects.

The dynamics of battles, for example, migrated straight from metal gear Rising: Revengeance. True, the developers decided to move away from the combo system, since in Nier the strikes differ from the weapon sets themselves.

Platinum did not turn to the deeply developed gameplay of Dark Souls either, limiting itself to a simple battle system consisting of two aspects - damage dealt and quick dodges.

Therefore, in battles with bosses, you will not need much tension, changing weapons and reading tactics. There is not even a proper leveling of the character as such - everything goes through without difficulty anyway.

To defeat the enemy, you just have to get used to the controls, understand how dexterous the hero can be, and learn the key features in the habits of AI.

Some bosses are much more difficult than others, and only they will force you to actively use android skills. In the rest - a solid bias towards the grind with endless and easy cutting out of all living things within a radius of a kilometer.

But Nier Automata is not made by gameplay alone. As we mentioned at the beginning of the article, first of all, this project hooked the players with the setting and plot. So, the second part boasts no less developed environment.

Yoko Taro managed to present the story no worse than the masters from From Software - like in the DS series, Nier Automata tells the story non-verbally, in the form of context and through the world around. And the latter, in turn, stands out with authentic post-apocalyptic scenery, in the middle of which alien robots live. Those have long gone crazy and formed a kind of cult of "aircraft worshipers".

Taking advantage of human benefits, machines began to imitate humanity and created their own society. Moreover, robots have learned to feel (or at least believed they were capable of empathy).

Add to the drama that has unfolded the gloomy scenery of the destroyed cities, the solid ruins of concrete and metal, as the war that once played out becomes tangible - you begin to believe this both repulsive and fascinating story.

The final, by the way, has several endings, which will require certain actions to achieve. Naturally, no one will lead you by the hand and tell you how to achieve this or that scene. The same goes for the final chords themselves, each of which gives more questions than answers.

Continuing to develop the theme of the setting, one cannot fail to mention how the developers used it in design decisions. Periodically Nier: Automata will change the perspective, alternating the standard three-dimensional view with a 2D camera exactly from platformers.

Now you are fighting opponents with a 3rd person camera, as is customary in a classic slasher, and a few minutes later, when you find yourself on a structure that resembles roller coaster, the camera turns to the side and invites you to run and jump.

After weighing all the pros and cons, we can say without a doubt that Nier Automata is a flawed game that has enough flaws. Apart from the boring gameplay, there are other unnerving things in Nier.

Firstly, the developers were smart with the levels of difficulty, between which there is an imbalance. The easy level, for example, will allow you to complete the game the first time and with virtually no deaths, while the average difficulty imposes completely different requirements.

There is a sharp jump, and the enemies that you killed at the usual level with the first blow, begin to crack down on you in two or three pokes.

However, as with most other games, increasing the difficulty in Nier does not affect the behavior of the AI. He just gets stronger, his stats go up.

Secondly, Nier Automata has minor errors and bugs here and there that can be forgiven for an indie-level game, but not for Platinum Games.

It happens that the quest pointer simply does not turn on on the next task, also there are no less frequent falls into textures and other errors, for example, of a design nature, due to which players suffer.

Autosave features were not even added to the game, and progress is recorded exclusively through special terminals. Died before the next terminal? Get ready to be resurrected at the very beginning of the map. In general, Nier: Automata has a lot of bugs.
