Councils of psychologists. How to start the new year with a clean slate

On the eve of the new year of the Goat, everyone involuntarily begins to imagine their future. The holiday season is a good time to gather your thoughts. This is also the right moment for self-assessment and analysis of your unfulfilled goals. Whatever the past year, you must gain strength and tune in to reach new heights and decide how to start the New Goal from scratch

Pay attention to self-organization

Start with cleaning. Put all things in their places. Think carefully about your surroundings - you should be able to easily reach those things that you use more often. Fold clothes neatly in the closet, sort through the papers, conveniently arrange the pans in the kitchen cabinet, get rid of unnecessary garbage. Distribute your cleaning tasks at home, in the office or in the car on different days and try to meet the new year in the realm of cleanliness and order.

Change something in the environment

On New Year's Eve, you might be planning a major purchase for your home or office. In addition to the Christmas decorations that will disappear after the winter holidays, it is important that you have something left in your house that symbolizes the beginning of the new year, and perhaps your ardent desire to start a new life. It can be a TV, curtains, an armchair, a bread box or a simple flowerpot. The main thing is the feeling with which you buy and bring this new thing into your home.

Take time to relax and take care of yourself

Starting from the new year, every week try to set aside one day for rest, breaking away from work and pressing problems. For each of us, the concept of relaxation is different, choose what you like best: go to the sauna, for a massage, to a beauty salon, for a walk in the park, shopping, to the beach, or just do cosmetic procedures and manicure right at home. Devote time to friends and active sports. In general, decide what makes you happier and makes you feel more comfortable, and do not deny yourself this pleasure!

Think back to the events of the past year. Remember all the bad and all the good. Ask yourself where you failed and what you achieved, where you didn’t persevere, and where you did the right thing. What kind of people are around you? Who is dear to you? How much good have others done for you, and what good have you been able to do? Who do you want to keep up with in life, and who did not perform well? All these thoughts will serve as a solid foundation for a happy new year, because in this way you will know your mistakes and understand your potential opportunities.

Make new promises to yourself

Write down your New Year's resolutions to yourself and review last year's list (if you've already done so). This will be your mini action plan for next year. Make lists of necessary things and purchases. For convenience, you can break big goals into small tasks. Another idea is to make a colorful poster with bright cutouts and images of what you want to hang in your room. Such a reminder will be a strong motivator in achieving new goals.

Considering what holiday we are looking forward to, you need to know exactly

After celebrating the New Year, it's time to work on your New Year's resolutions! If you're looking for a way to start the new year off with a clean slate, consider changing your appearance, getting your life in order, and defining your goals and intentions. For example, you might change your hair, donate unworn clothes to charity, start playing sports, or do more spontaneous acts of kindness. In addition, it is important to have a schedule in order to better focus on tasks, stay organized throughout the day, and stay positive. Positive fills with happiness, which extends to others, making them happy too. Small changes can positively impact those around you, so choose wisely. Whichever approach you choose, it's nice to start a new period of life with a fresh mind and focus, ready to enter the year ahead.

Steps

Tidy up your appearance

Get a haircut to freshen up your face. Make an appointment with the hairdresser at the beginning of the new year. You can slightly shorten the ends for a subtle transformation, or decide on a bold new hairstyle for a radical change in the image. This will help you feel empowered for the coming year.

    • For example, if you have long, straight hair, consider cutting it off to your shoulders and making it into a ladder cut.
    • If you have short hair, consider trimming the sides even further as a minor makeover. For example, if you have a boy haircut, you can make it even shorter.
  1. Experiment with your appearance by trying something new. External transformations will give you self-confidence as you enter the new year. For example, you can paint your lips a bright color, get another facial piercing, or upgrade your eyeglass frames. Find something that suits your style and budget and go for something new!

    • You can also dye your hair a bright color, go shopping for new clothes, or splurge on a new pair of shoes.
  2. Start playing sports. Think about your current health and overall fitness goals, and then make a plan to improve your health based on that. For example, you can start by taking a 20-minute walk after work every day or training to participate in the fall marathon. Start with light exercises and gradually increase the load to stick to your goals.

    • If you're new to exercising, find a gym in your area and start hitting it three times a week. Walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes before each workout.
    • If you are not the first day in sports, set a goal to improve your BMI (body mass index), or, for example, pump up the relief abs by the end of the year.

    Refresh your worldview

    1. Practice gratitude daily to fill your life with kindness. Practicing gratitude will boost your overall mood and improve your outlook on life. Every day before bed, write down three things you are grateful for. Also, show gratitude to the people in your life by telling them that you appreciate them.

      • For example, you could write something like, "I'm grateful for my cat," or "I'm grateful for the wonderful sunny weather today."
    2. Incorporate positive attitudes into your daily routine. A positive attitude is a simple, short sentence that can be used as a reminder throughout the day. Positive attitudes will increase your self-esteem over time, and this is useful as you enter the new year. To work with positive attitudes, find a phrase that resonates with you, such as "I deserve it" or "I can take on any challenge." Tell yourself this first thing in the morning and throughout the day when you start to doubt.

      • Tailor the setting specifically to your life and circumstances. For example, if you're trying to be a more responsive friend, your attitude might be, "I'm fun and loyal."
    3. Perform spontaneous acts of kindness as often as possible. Spontaneous acts of kindness are small, deliberate acts done to bring joy into the lives of others. Do these things without expecting anything in return, but rather to brighten someone's day. This is a great way to start the new year on a positive, responsive note.

      • You can send generous compliments, smile at strangers, and volunteer with charities.
      • Pick up trash from the side of the road, help an elderly person cross the street, or give food to a homeless person.
      • You can also pay for the coffee of the next person in line, or leave the waiter a generous tip.

    Tidy up your environment

    1. Start your spring cleaning early to clean up the mess around you. Some time after the new year arrives, clean out your bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and pantry. Sort out all the cluttered areas, throw out the trash and remove items that are out of place. In this way, you will enter the new year with a feeling of cleanliness and order.

      • It would also be helpful to have your car cleaned. For example, get rid of all the garbage and clean up the center console and glove compartment.
    2. Sort your clothes and get rid of things you rarely wear. The new year is a great time to take inventory of your wardrobe and get rid of things that no longer suit your figure or your style. Remove clothes from each drawer and make one pile for clothes you keep and another for clothes that need to find a new home. Then carefully fold the items and return them to a dresser or closet. So you clear the space of trash and freshen up your style.

      • Once you've created a stack of "new home" items, consider giving them to your friends, family members, or donating to a thrift store.
    3. Cover the walls with a fresh coat of paint to freshen up the room. Consider repainting the walls of your home at the beginning of the year. Cover the floor and furniture with a protective sheet, and apply interior house paint to the walls with a roller. For variety, you can choose a new color.

    4. Purchase some new decorative items to freshen up the decor. Visit your local thrift store or home improvement store and pick out a couple of new items to update your interior. For example, you can take 2-3 decorative sofa cushions, a rug, a lamp, or a new bookshelf. After adding a few new items, your home will look fresh and updated.

      • You can also purchase small items such as paperweights, vases and magnets.

    Define goals and aspirations

    1. Set a goal to try one new thing every month. In addition to personal promises, it's helpful to strive to get out of your comfort zone at least once a month. You can plan to do one new thing every month, or you can pick out a few options and choose from them when the time is right. Whatever the case, make the decision to do something you've never done before or learn something completely new to broaden your horizons and grow as a person.

      • To make something new, it is enough to eat a dish that you have never tried before.
      • You can enjoy active sports such as kayaking, horseback riding or skydiving.
      • And here are some more ideas: language courses, yoga classes, or planning a camping trip.
    2. Make a list of 20-50 things to try in the coming year. Some time after the start of the year, sit down with a notebook and write down a few things you want to do during the year. Choose simple, uncomplicated things like "eat more vegetables" or specific, realistic goals like "recover at university." Add as many items to your list as you see fit and cross them off as you complete them throughout the year. The list is a visual reference useful when trying to set goals.

      • You can use this list to come up with ideas for your monthly "try something new" challenge.
      • Options on your wish list could be: visit New York, design your own pumpkin for Halloween (if you celebrate it), get a dog, take a cooking class, and go to the seaside.
      • . As the new year approaches, more restful and restful sleep is a great goal to add to your wish list. You can aim to relax more before bed, such as taking a bath, drinking chamomile tea, and reading a book. Or you can go to sleep and wake up at about the same time each day to get into a natural routine. Better sleep, in turn, will help you feel focused and energized throughout the year.
        • You can also use white noise or nature sounds to help you fall asleep faster.
        • Consider taking melatonin supplements if you have trouble sleeping. Melatonin is a hormone produced in the brain that helps regulate sleep cycles. Taking 1-3 mg per day will help you sleep more peacefully over time.
    • Ask a friend to do some of these things with you. This is a great way to make New Year's resolutions fun and exciting.

    Warnings

    • Don't set too many goals. Sometimes trying to do too many things at once leads to overwhelm rather than inspiration. Be realistic - start with simple and achievable tasks.

New Years is soon! It's time to get rid of the bad

new year from scratch

It's time to get rid of unnecessary and oppressive thoughts. So what is it time to forget:

Do you want to start the new year with a clean slate?

Here are some tips to keep yourself motivated and reach all your new goals.

We start a new life with a clean slate, from Monday.

After all, it is 2018 that starts on Monday (when we wake up), why not bring something new into life?

Forget all the bad things and leave it in the past. Now there are only new goals and a new life ahead!

  1. First you need to come up with at least five good decisions for the New Year that can fully fit into your lifestyle (maybe also a new one). All these decisions should be purely personal and help to become better both physically and mentally. Make sure you think clearly and carefully decide to make your new dream come true. Be sure to ask yourself, can this help me? Can it help my environment (family, friends, relatives, work colleagues, etc.)? How will this help me? Will I be able to stick with this for a year? Will I have time to work in this direction? Answer all of these questions in the affirmative and confidently before you begin!
  2. If your goal is to improve yourself daily. If you want to go to college again and get a master's degree, go ahead, but make sure you have enough interest. Maybe it's better to go to university? Maybe you just want to improve your relationships with people, be more optimistic, carefree, friendly, etc. For example, you really want to say hello to your work colleague for the whole room, but you have never done this until now because of your shyness. Know how to put a shoulder to your girlfriend or boyfriend who, for example, just broke up with her boyfriend or girlfriend and is crying. Clean up your house for your parents or neighbors so they don't have to worry. Clean up daily. These are just examples of some good personality traits. In fact, there are many more of them, and they are present in all spheres of life.
  3. If your goal is to improve yourself daily or whenever you have free time. If you want to lose 10 kilos, or maybe get rid of a big belly, you can go to the local gym or work from home several times a day, or daily if you have time. Be consistent and stick to your exercise schedule, which needs to be set up in advance. Get a personal trainer if you need a little push and some new techniques. Eat a healthy diet: For example, instead of stopping at McDonald's for a fast food lunch and sweet cream buns before bed, go to the store and grab fruit and meat. Drink only juices and milk, etc. Eat right and stay on schedule.
  1. If your goal includes profit, make sure you have enough money in the bank to pay your bills and eat for a whole month or more, otherwise your debt could come along and bite you really hard. Spend money only wisely and with confidence.
  2. Be consistent. A day without striving for your goal is another day wasted.
  3. Imagine that your goals are a law that must be observed without fail. Also imagine that someone is constantly watching your implementation of plans. Or let it be real. Ask parents, spouse, children of roommates, etc. follow you and your plans.
  4. Make your procedures interesting. This will help you strive for self-improvement for the benefit of others around you and yourself.

Start life with a clean face and become the best.

Change! Good luck in the new year!

Every year, on December 31… We promise ourselves to start a new life from tomorrow. From January 1, that is. New Year new life. It would be interesting to see at least one person who did it!

Text: Lyubov Astafieva

What we don’t promise ourselves: go to the gym, run in the morning, not eat after six, fix your teeth, find a new job, communicate with your parents more often, finally get to know a normal man… Some even buy a beautiful new book to write down their new plans. But January 1 comes, and... nothing changes! First, the holidays, and we think: “When the holidays are over, then I’ll definitely start!”, And then, after the holidays, so much work piles up that there’s no time to start a new life. So the new life turns back into the old. Until next December 31st.

How to change this script? And is it possible to start a new life on January 1st? Our psychologists give you some advice.

1. Analyze errors

Before planning, do an analysis: what did not suit you in your life in the past year? What is the reason for these failures? What would you like to achieve? And what resources are needed for this? Do not be afraid to be as honest as possible - except for you, no one will see these "analytical notes", but this will return you from the world of illusions to the real world.

2. Set realistic goals

The main secret of success is not to plan what you don’t want to do, not to conceive the impossible. If you don't like running in the morning, if you're cold even in your bed, then you'll never start running outside in winter. If you are a night owl, don't plan to get up at 7 o'clock every morning. If subconsciously you are quite satisfied with your weight - do not expect to endure a strict diet. In short, set achievable goals that you are sure you will complete. Do you want to play sports? Ask yourself - which of its types will not be a burden to you, what will you do with pleasure? You should not follow the fashion for running or swimming, if your soul does not lie with them, maybe you like dancing more - then go and dance! Do you want to switch to a healthy diet? Choose the products that you like, find a compromise between tasty and healthy. Because if you can't stand oatmeal, you still won't be able to eat it, no matter how strong your will is. Do you want to learn how to get up earlier? Start doing this gradually, an hour a week. Force yourself to go to bed earlier! By the way, there is one simple recipe: you need to get up once at five in the morning (even if you don’t need to go anywhere), you will really want to sleep, but be patient, but at 10 pm you will fall asleep with a baby’s sleep, and the next morning you will get up much earlier.

3. Program yourself for good luck

If your outgoing year was unsuccessful, and you are afraid of a repetition of troubles, that the new year will be even worse ... Drive these thoughts away from yourself! The more you think about it, the more you program yourself for failure. You should also not make excessive demands on yourself: “I let myself down this year, but in the future, I will show everyone what I am capable of!” If there is no way to rush off sharply, you should not hope for it: it is better to move towards the goal slowly but surely. And constantly tell yourself: the coming year will be very successful for me, I will succeed, I will be able to fulfill my plan. If you lack confidence and knowledge, try attending one of the master classes that will teach you how to program your future correctly.

4. Start small

Start changing your familiar world around you. Have you always had a mess in the workplace? Clear the rubble. Do the same with your wardrobe and your kitchen. Do you always lose your keys and other little things? Buy beautiful wall hooks and train yourself to hang your keys on them. Come up with new pleasant and useful rituals for yourself. For example, turn on your favorite music in the morning and dance in front of the mirror while coffee is being brewed. If you plan to start playing sports, buy a nice uniform and sneakers so that you want to wear them as soon as possible. From such trifles, like a mosaic, it will take shape

With the advent of the New Year, many have a desire to start a new life. And since you are already reading this article, it means that it will not hurt you to change something. But remember, it is impossible to start a new life without letting go of the old one. Do the mistakes of the past prevent you from enjoying the present and building a happy future? It's time to turn the page and drop this load. And we'll tell you how.

Write a letter to the past

Be clear about what exactly you want to get rid of. These are grievances against someone, thoughts about the person who hurt you, unloved work, “friends”, bad habits ... The phrase “I want to let go of the past” should take shape and content. Put everything that does not suit you in the past and present on paper. Crumple up the paper and burn it! This is a kind of way to say goodbye to the past!

Create a new story

Have you cleared your past problems yet? Now you need to start building your future. Think what would you like? Go in for sports, go on an extreme hike, find another job or meet your love ... Write down your goals and hang them in a prominent place.

Build Your Habits

Psychologists say that it takes an average of 21 days to replace old habits with new ones. After all, you wash your face and brush your teeth every morning without effort? In the same way, you can do other things that are necessary to achieve your goal: start going to the gym or to interviews, go out more often and make new acquaintances ... A little patience in the beginning, and a new life will not keep you waiting!

Develop willpower

In order to change your life, you need to have iron willpower. Can't brag about that? Start training her right now! Is the inner voice begging you to sleep longer tonight and cancel a run or an important meeting? Turn it off and focus on new habits. You can tell your loved ones about your goals. It motivates, because you don’t want to pass for empty talk, do you? Go forward and don't give up - there is no turning back!

Imagine your happy life

Having taken the first step into a brighter future, each subsequent step will be easier for you. And to make the path to your dream pleasant, think about a new life in all colors: what will your luxury car and house be like, what will you name your children, what trip will you go on, etc. This is very motivating!

And remember, saying goodbye to the past and starting from scratch is not easy. But with a great desire, you can get everything you dream of. Most importantly, don't wait until Monday to start. Act right now!
