Biography

background

According to surviving accounts, Megatron began his career on Cybertron as a gladiator. In those distant times, they were allies with Optimus Prime (who was then a simple archivist and was called Orion Pax). Both of them were not satisfied with the then leadership of Cybertron, and they fought together for freedom. However, after the victory, their paths diverged: Megatron considered himself offended by the fact that the Matrix of Leadership was not given to him, but to Optimus, and forever hated the latter. Since then, there has been a feud between Megatron and Prime, which, according to the deep conviction of the leader of the Decepticons, can only end with the death of one of them.

Generation 1

When, during the protracted war energetic resources Cybertron was depleted and the Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, left it to search for new energy sources, Megatron, taking with him the most experienced Decepticon fighters, set off in pursuit of them on his Nemesis battle cruiser. Having caught up with the Autobots, he boarded their ship "Ark", but did not win - having fallen into a meteor shower, both ships crashed and crashed to prehistoric Earth. There, for 4 million years, the transformers were in a deactivated state, having awakened already today (according to the chronology of the series, in 1984).
Having learned what sources of energy the Earth possesses, Megatron set out to capture them, regardless of people. Optimus Prime and the Autobots had to become the defenders of our planet. This turned out to be a very difficult task for them, since the forces of Megatron, thanks to the energy resources stolen on Earth, have increased significantly. On his side was whole line technical advantages - the presence of strong aviation, gestalts (neither one nor the other among the Autobots long time was not), as well as a space bridge to Cybertron, from where reinforcements came. In an effort to achieve victory at any cost, Megatron tirelessly invented more and more new ways to deal with Prime and the Autobots, not even stopping at the prospect of destroying the entire Earth. True, over time, he realized that the destruction of the Earth would also mean the termination of access to its resources, so in some cases he had to unwittingly act in concert with Optimus Prime, saving the Earth from destruction.

The fighting, now flaring up, then weakening, dragged on until the city, when Megatron decided that the time had come to end the Autobots forever. Knowing that they did not yet have enough energy for a full-scale attack on Cybertron, he made an attempt to launch a preemptive strike. To do this, he and his select squad attacked an Autobot shuttle sent to Earth for energy, and killed its entire crew, so that, using the shuttle as cover, they could freely enter Autobot City and capture it. However, Megatron's calculation did not materialize - he failed to catch the Autobots by surprise. The battle at the walls of the City dragged on all night, and in the morning reinforcements arrived in the person of Optimus Prime and the Dinobots. Megatron entered into a duel with Prime, seriously injured him, but he himself was badly injured. During the flight to Cybertron, he was thrown into outer space along with other wounded Decepticons, and there, being on the verge between life and death, he fell into the field of gravity of the powerful Unicron, a transformer planet ... From this moment, the story of Megatron ends, and the story of Galvatron begins.

In this version, which takes place many centuries after the events described in The Transformers, Megatron is the commander of the predacons, a distant descendant of Megatron from The First Generation. But, unlike his ancestor, his status on Cybertron is not too high, and the fact that he and a gang of his minions stole the Golden Disc (the ancient and most valuable relic of Cybertronians) did not add to his popularity. Physically, he is also noticeably weaker than the "first" Megatron (in hand-to-hand fights with Primal - a descendant of Optimus Prime and the leader of the maximums - as a rule, he is defeated and forced to retreat), but much more cunning and insidious. He is smart, insightful, prudent. Each of his actions is carefully thought out and usually crowned with success (according to at least, at first).

Megatron arrives on Earth in search of rich deposits of energon, but, having discovered them, is in no hurry to return to " historical homeland”, and not only because he and his accomplices are wanted as criminals. His true plans and intentions remain largely a mystery even to those close to him. However, all of them are ultimately aimed at achieving the goal set by Megatron - to become the ruler of Cybertron, and in the future - the entire Galaxy.

"The Unicron Trilogy"

In the animated series "Transformers: Armada" goes with a detachment of Decepticons to Earth to find and subdue mini-cons, and with their help to defeat final victory over the Autobots. As always, he is at war with Optimus Prime and his team, plotting and implementing all sorts of intrigues against them, but in the face of a deadly threat to the entire Universe emanating from Unicron, he concludes a tactical alliance with Prime.

"Animation"

In the animated series "Transformers: Animated" (), which is a free development of the storyline of the feature film "Transformers", the main content of Megatron's struggle with the Autobots remains the possession of the "Allspark", or "Great Spark" - a source of boundless energy and a repository of knowledge.

"Transformers Prime"

The action of this series takes place three years after the events shown in TF Animated. All these three years, Megatron wandered somewhere in the universe, gathering forces for a new attack on the Autobots. He managed to find out the secret of Unicron's Blood, or Dark Energon, a substance that allows you to revive dead transformers. With this knowledge, he returns to the Decepticons (much to the dismay and annoyance of Starscream, who is forced to cede his command post to Megatron). By order of Megatron, the construction of a space bridge between Earth and Cybertron begins; but the bridge was blown up by the Autobots before a full-blown "robo-dead" invasion began, and Megatron himself disappeared again. He was considered dead, but it soon became clear that he was alive. The injuries received were very severe, and the recovery was delayed; perhaps it would not have taken place at all if not for Bumblebee, who, although not of his own free will, found for Megatron a fragment of Dark Energon lost on the battlefield. With his help, the Decepticon leader healed his wounds.
So, Megatron again took the reins of power into his manipulators, and the first thing he did was brutally beat Starscream, who during his illness tried to usurp power.

Biography in feature films

According to the filmmakers' version, old times Megatron served as the Lord Protector of Cybertron; along with Optimus Prime, he ruled the planet wisely and fairly, and Optimus called him his brother. But later, Megatron, having learned about the power of the Allspark, wished to own it alone and use it in his own purposes, and when Prime opposed this, he gathered an army of his supporters and started a war; as a result, Cybertron was devastated, and the Allspark was lost somewhere in space. While searching for the Allspark, Megatron ended up in our solar system; he located the Allspark, however, was unable to reach it - due to a lack of power and a malfunction in the navigation system, caused by the influence of the Earth's magnetic field, he himself became a prisoner, frozen in the ice of the Arctic Ocean.
In 1897, Captain Archibald Witwicky found Megatron in an ice cave. In the city, the frozen body of Megatron (codenamed "INP-1" - "Alien of Non-Biological Origin") was moved under the Hoover Dam, to a purpose-built secret laboratory, where his devices were studied to advance terrestrial technologies. However, in 2007, the Decepticons managed to locate Megatron's whereabouts and free him. During a fierce battle with the Autobots and their human allies, Megatron tore Jazz in half and then entered into a duel with Optimus Prime. After severely injuring the Autobot leader, Megatron stopped paying attention to him and switched to Sam Witwicky, in whose hands the Allspark was at that moment. While he was chasing Sam, Optimus Prime came to his senses and the fight between the giants resumed. The outcome of this fight was ultimately decided by Sam - he managed to place the Allspark in Megatron's chest, and the colossal energy Great Spark"short" everything internal systems the leader of the Decepticons and destroyed most of his hull. What was left of Megatron was buried at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, about east coast Canada.

Surprisingly, for a long time Megatron had a technoform absolutely inappropriate for a villain of this magnitude: in the animated series " Transformers G1"He, having taken on an earthly appearance, transformed into a Walther P-38 pistol", while greatly decreasing in size, so that they could shoot other transformers. However, in the future, this inconsistency was eliminated: in the animated series "Transformers: Armada" he transforms into a tank. Forms a "small gestalt" with a minicon named "Leader-1".

In the feature film "Transformers" Megatron, contrary to the tradition that has developed in the animated series and comics, turns into aircraft- Cybertronian starship. This is a real miracle of technology: plasma engines, armor coating that scatters laser volleys, and formidable weapons - two cannons in the bow and lightning emitters on the wings. Among other things, in starship mode, Megatron is equipped with special devices that generate a special distorting field that makes him invisible. However, at the end of the film, as a result of the battle with Prime and the explosion of the Allspark, he was so badly damaged that the creators of the sequel even initially considered doing without him in the next film. Then, however, Megatron was still "brought back to life", but his alt form is now again a futuristic tank (this can be explained by the fact that parts of an excavator were used to repair it). In the film, however, Megatron only transforms once, during the first fight with Optimus Prime, remaining in robot mode most of the rest of the time. His weapons are a plasma gun and a sword.
In the third film, Megatron, again contrary to tradition, began to transform into a truck. His weapon was a shotgun.

Character

In some series, Megatron is serious (Transformers Animated), in others he is overconfident (Transformers: Cybertron). However, the basis of his character does not fundamentally change. He is an extremely intelligent, fierce and determined leader. instantly orientated to difficult situations. Mercy and compassion for him - empty words, but he is able to appreciate the generosity shown by the enemy, and make a return gesture of goodwill. Has the necessary a good leader quality, as the ability to use the abilities of their subordinates with maximum effect, no matter how insignificant they may seem. However, Megatron's lust for power and self-confidence can play into the hands of the Autobots - in the film, he betrays Sentinel Prime when he is ready to kill Optimus.

Relationships with others

Megatron shows his cool temper not only in relation to enemies - his subordinates also get a lot from him, especially if they try to argue or object to him when he has already made a decision. He asks them to "go all out" in full force and does not forgive failures. However, the Decepticons overwhelmingly accept Megatron's authority as leader unconditionally and obey him. The only exception is the Brawler, who considers Megatron's strategy in the war with the Autobots ineffective, and himself behind the times. He behaves defiantly towards Megatron, constantly criticizing his actions, at every opportunity he tries to overthrow Megatron and take his place. Sometimes he almost succeeds, but in the end, victory always goes to Megatron. However, Megatron values Brawler's fighting qualities too much to destroy him. One way or another, their constant clashes are one of the main storylines in the series.

According to the official scale, his qualities are evaluated as follows: intelligence, strength, skill, endurance and firepower- 10, courage - 9, speed - 4.

Summary

Megatron is a kind of perfection: he has no technical flaws, no known weaknesses. He is the ideal leader of the Decepticons, much like Optimus Prime is the ideal leader of the Autobots.

In culture

Megatron is mentioned in the song "Hellrider" by British heavy metal band Judas Priest.

In general, I will note in the spoiler so as not to "spoiler": To be honest, I'm disappointed. And not so much in Bey, but in Hasbro for sucking money with a 12+ rating without a normal plot.

Mythology 12 knights and the staff of Cybertron
+ Very good soundtracks from Yablonsky
+ Character design. Megatron 12 out of 10 for the updated look. Barricade also began to look better, albeit on show-offs with the motto "to punish and enslave ..."
+ Variety in action locations
+ A lot of references to Transformers G1 and Prime
+ cast. Anthony Hopkins, Mark Wahlberg, Peter Cullen, Frank Welker
+ Nuuu.... You know.. Bay's special effects.... It's always just right.....
+ Mention of Unicron
And then there's the sadness....
- I have a feeling that when I left the cinema, the thought did not leave me that the first part of the film was made sooooo carelessly with cheapness. It just goes all the way spontaneous cutting, which is generally absurdly connected with the next one without a logical chain
- It feels like there is no one but people at all. When I go to a movie called "Transformers", I should a priori see about 85% of the total screen time of the Autobots and Decepticons, and not of people, but it turned out absolutely the opposite. A bunch of new Autobots and Decepticons appeared, which were not disclosed, and it is not clear why they are needed at all.
- Why was it necessary to make so many new Decepticons, if they are just stupidly shamelessly drained? Dreadbot, Mohawk, Berserker, Onslot, Nitro, Infernokus.... Or do scriptwriters have such a fetish - to bend under Hasbro, spreading rot on the Decepticons 24 hours a day without a break, in order to sell Optimus and Bumblebee toys?
- Merlin they have a wino with moral principles? Oh well.
- Full of goofy toilet humor
- And again stepped on the rake of logic. Why didn't they show how Megatron "returned" back from the image of Galvatron? The story from the fourth part is repeated, where Optimus takes another alt form right on the spot without explanation.
- Why do we need all these Isabellas, Jimmy, etc. if again they turn the camera only near Hopkins, Wahlberg, Duhamel and Haddock? Just another unnecessary images accumulate again.
- A lot of pathos from blue and eared, like "I'm Optimus Prime", "Have you forgotten who I am?", "Who dares to challenge me?", "I'm Nemesis Prime." It's already starting to kick in.
- Just. Wretched. Drain. Megatron. Even though he was still alive. But this is for the umpteenth time.
- Hot Rod. He was promoted so stubbornly, and appeared 3-4 times for 5 minutes. Although he came out pretty cool. But his image is wooden.
- Barricade. Same thing with Hot Rod. So they promoted him, and he himself was shown the same number of times and even less in time. At the same time, he again dumped somewhere without explanation.
- Again, the last global piu-piu-piu, tightened to the point of pain, makes no sense. It would be better if the first part of the film was remade, and not shoved so many explosions.
- In general, there are no antagonists that would be remembered. Megatron was supposed to be one, but he was merged into once more. I already feel sorry for him. Quintessa is nothing at all, to be honest.
- Dinobots are not needed here. Here a couple of times Grimlock appeared and goodbye. There was only one slug.
- The amount of slowmo....There's too much of it....
- Why was the Third Reich needed here at all, if it was shown for a maximum of 1.5 minutes? Stupid to be?
- The fiercest contradictions in relation to the first three parts.
- It feels like a lot of bonding material has been cut out.
- Optimus has no motivation at all. When he arrived on Cybertron, he initially wanted to stop the creators, but he then abruptly changes his mind without explanation. It turns out that he generally consciously, even before submitting to Quintessa, decided to betray everyone else, but then already on Earth he suddenly realizes that he shouldn’t have done this .... This is nonsense.

As the leader of the Decepticons in the Transformers universe, Megatron and his team of robots are doing their best to establish control over the Earth and Cybertron, where the hero once began his career as a gladiator. Optumus Prime considers his main opponent, with whom they were friends in the distant past, but their paths diverged after Megatron decided to get the Spark, which caused long war and the complete devastation of Cybertron.

Being one of the largest transformers, Megatron is smart, has leadership qualities, excellent strategist skills and is on a par with Optimus an excellent warrior. The robot appears in all episodes of films (Transformers 1, 2, 3, 4) and cartoons (Generation 1, Transformers Prime, etc.), where it can transform into a truck, tank, starship or fighter. It has powerful weapons: a thermonuclear cannon, an Energon battle flail, throwing discs, a plasma cannon, a sword, a rocket launcher.

Pictures of Megatron

Love, compassion, pity have no meaning for Megatron. He took the position of leader of the Decepticons thanks to a combination brute force, military cunning, ruthlessness and ferocity. On Cybertron, he was the commander-in-chief of military operations against the Autobots, who called him the "Breeder of Dust". This title was coined out of fear and respect for Megatron. Megatron is proud of his title. Exile to Earth made him even more angry and irritated, if such a thing is possible in principle. He can't wait to return to Cybertron and finish the job of destroying the Autobots. While on Earth, he devoted himself entirely to the destruction of those who were here with him, but his plans go even further. He realizes that the Earth is a giant storehouse of metals and fuels, and intends to master it all with the help of his Decepticons. Moreover, his further plans are so grandiose that even the Decepticons are unaware of them - he intends to enslave the population of the Earth. Exceptions to his motto are not allowed.

Abilities: Megatron is remarkably strong and intelligent. In these qualities, he is equal to the leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime. His thermonuclear cannon is capable of turning a negligible amount of matter into a huge mass of atomic explosive. The gun shoots up to 12 miles and is able to wipe out small town. Megatron is able to use internal electrical circuits to connect a gun to a black hole in order to receive energy from anti-matter. The power of the shot in this case increases in a gigantic proportion, but the procedure requires too high voltage from Megatron himself, even for a single shot.

Weaknesses: Megatron has no known weaknesses.

History in the Michael Bay universe:

Megatron wasn't always the evil, cruel, and powerful master of the Decepticons. He was once a student of Sentinel Prime and a friend of Optimus. Megatron was honored to take on the duties of Cybertron's defender and commander of its defense forces. However, Megatron was extremely resentful of the privileged position of Optimus, who was Prime, and therefore, most likely, the next leader of the transformers after Sentinel. This allowed the Fallen One to convince Megatron to defect to his side and start a rebellion. War broke out on Cybertron, and the rebels began to be called Decepticons. However, even without the Fallen, Megatron would have unleashed a war sooner or later to get rid of Optimus. Megatron is obsessed with his goals and desires. For their sake, he is ready to risk anything: his wards, his home planet and even own life. Absolute power - that's all he wants, and for what he fights. Megatron on Earth did not disguise his alternate mode, preferring to transform into a powerful space fighter.

Three years after the operation Fire storm” and the death of the Fallen One, Megatron showed up in Africa. A former tyrant hides in the Namibian desert. He adapted to local conditions, by adopting the alternative mode of the earth armored military tractor - M915 Line-Haul Mack Titan 10-wheeler Tank Truck. He still has not fully recovered from the damage that Optimus Prime inflicted on him in their last battle, and apparently lost the ability to fly. Most he spent the time sitting on a kind of crumbling throne made of all sorts of garbage and scrap metal, allowing drones led by Igor to restore his dilapidated body. From time to time Megatron got out of his camp in search of energy, frightening with his frightening appearance of local animals. His exile was interrupted by a message from Laserbeak, who reported to Megatron about Optimus' fight with Shockwave and that the Autobots had discovered the remains of the missing Ark. It was just what Megatron had been waiting for. His trap for the Autobots has worked, and it's time for the Decepticons to strike again.

After Megatron was defeated by the Allspark's power, the Decepticons were left decapitated and disorganized for some time. But it didn't last long. Soundwave, having connected to an American military communications satellite, intercepted a conversation between Presidential Representative Theodore Galloway and the NEST leadership, in which he mentioned that the Allspark was not completely destroyed, one of the fragments was hidden in a carefully guarded object "B-14" in an electromagnetic safe, and the body of Megatron rests at the bottom of the Laurentian abyss. Soundwave's envoy, Ravage, broke into the facility and stole the shard. Then the Scalpel (a miniature Decepticon doctor), accompanied by the Constructicons, delivered the shard to the burial place of their leader. As a result, Megatron was resurrected and received a new, even more powerful body and an alternative Cybertronian tank mode. Most of all, Megatron craves revenge, but now he can not do without the help of an ancient ally - Fallen (Fallen).
