PHOTO: Mir24.tv / Nikolai Kostyushin Yandex has assessed the traffic situation in Moscow and analyzed the changes that have taken place on the streets of the capital over the past five years. Both the situation in the city as a whole and separately the areas inside the Garden Ring, between the Garden Ring and the Third Transport Ring and between the Third Ring Road and the Moscow Ring Road were considered.
Analysts relied on Yandex.Probok data. It turned out that, although the situation in Moscow as a whole remained approximately the same as a year ago, the workload in the center has increased significantly - it is recognized as the highest in five years. There are also more traffic jams between the Third Ring Road and the Moscow Ring Road than last year, and in the mornings and in the first half of the day the roads are worse than in 2013.

Traffic jams in Moscow now and with a forecast

Attention

The territorial component is not fundamental to us, the main thing is maximum coverage. The average speed of movement along the Mozhayskoye Highway towards the Region in July 2015 is 63 km/h, and the Shchelkovskoye Highway towards the Region is 34 km/h.
From this information, we draw an obvious conclusion - Shchelkovo highway is much busier, traffic jams are much higher there, which means that drivers who are stuck in traffic jams have much more time to study the surrounding space, incl. your outdoor advertising.

Traffic jams in Moscow now

Inside the Garden Ring average speed traffic increased by about 4% in the morning and by 5% in the evening rush hour - apparently due to the introduction of paid parking1. In the TTK zone, the situation has not changed much. The strongest improvements - almost 9% in the morning and 3% in the evening - occurred in the area between the Third Ring Road and the Moscow Ring Road, which may be due to active road construction.

For example, a junction was built at the intersection of the Moscow Ring Road with Volgogradsky Prospekt, flyovers on Profsoyuznaya Street, Mozhaysky and Warsaw highway- as a result, the travel time on the respective road sections has been noticeably reduced. Serious deterioration is also often associated with road works.

For example, the speed of movement fell sharply on the Third Ring Road between Kutuzovsky and Leninsky prospects- where there was a narrowing of the road due to repairs.

Busiest destinations now

It is famous for its special workload, commonly called Leningradka. Traffic to Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports is often difficult. Traffic is often difficult along the ring road, along Entuziastov Street, Kutuzovsky prospect. Traffic congestion occurs on almost all highways: Yaroslavl, Kiev, Leningrad, Novoryazan, Kaluga, Warsaw, Dmitrovsky, Kashirsky, Schelkovsky, Zvenigorodsky, Pyatnitsky. Traffic jams are also found in the cities of the Moscow region, such as: Khimki, Lakinsk, Balashikha, Fryazino, Chekhov, Odintsovo, Schelkovo, Noginsk and Podolsk.

See right now on the traffic jam map what the traffic situation is along the route of your route. Looking at the map, you can find out what is happening on the roads in the city center, why a traffic jam has formed on the road, find out what is happening at the exit and entrance to Moscow. The map will show the obstacles and their causes that may be encountered along the way.

Every evening, Muscovites leave work - and stand together in traffic jams. In the immovable stream, the residents of the capital exchange jokes, get to know each other, share cigarettes, drinks and food. In short, life is busy. Only sometimes it seems that these traffic jams appear in the city without apparent reason- in places where there are no accidents or road works, nor reducing the number of bands.

MOSLENTA counted the TOP-10 of the most bizarre metropolitan traffic jams and, together with the TsODD, tried to find out why they occur “out of the blue”.

Before turning to the TsODD for clarification, we interviewed drivers in the capital and found out where the most anomalous traffic jams form in Moscow. The list did not include “understandable” places - here are only those where the drivers failed to explain the congestion:

  • Nizhnyaya Maslovka Street and Savelovskaya Overpass
  • TTK in the area from Volgograd to Ryazansky prospects
  • The inner side of the Moscow Ring Road from Lipetskaya street towards Warsaw highway
  • Nikulinskaya street
  • The outer side of the Moscow Ring Road near Crocus City
  • Timiryazevskaya street
  • Schukinskaya and Infantry streets
  • The outer side of the Moscow Ring Road from the Shchelkovo highway
  • Prospekt Mira near the Severyaninsky overpass
  • 2nd and 3rd Vladimirskaya streets

“It is always possible to figure out what caused a traffic jam in one place or another. Another question is that the reasons for the slowdown in traffic, as well as the solution to this issue, may not be obvious and may not be located next to the traffic jam itself, but several kilometers from it, ”says Andrei Mukhortikov, adviser to the head of the traffic control center.

According to him, these reasons are not so many, they can be counted on the fingers. On the example of several streets from our "ten" Andrey Mukhortikov told in more detail how the traffic jam is formed.

Bottleneck

The classic situation is when the number of lanes decreases on the road. For example, from four to two or from three to one. They are typical for exits from the capital - where the number of lanes decreases after the Moscow Ring Road. The road infrastructure behind the ring road is not developed enough to take a large number of cars.

For example, during the summer season, leaving Moscow is especially difficult along Leningradsky, Shchelkovsky, Volokolamsk highway and Highway Enthusiasts. In particular, on Leningradskoye Highway, five lanes within the city become three lanes outside the Moscow Ring Road. And every day in the evening peak hours, a traffic jam is formed about five kilometers long, and drivers lose up to 25 minutes in this place.

On Shchelkovskoye Highway, four lanes in Moscow turn into two lanes in the region, the length of the traffic jam is about 3.2 km, the travel time is 20 minutes.

On the Entuziastov Highway and Volokolamsk Highway, traffic jams are about 2 km long, and the travel time is from 10 to 15 minutes.

Almost always for this reason, traffic jams occur on radial highways - on Mira Avenue in front of the Severyaninsky overpass, on Butyrskaya Street and on Dmitrov highway in front of the Dmitrovskaya metro station (moreover, there are also exits to Rustaveli Street, which aggravate the situation), on Leningradskoye Highway in front of Voykovskaya. This is the same reason and traffic jams in " enchanted place» in the area of Nizhnyaya Maslovka, Butyrskaya street and Savelovskaya overpass. It seems that the drivers here simply refuse to go further and deliberately reduce the speed from 60-80 km / h to some unfortunate 10-15. That is, they do everything so that you suffer in a traffic jam from the Riga overpass, so that later you will be surprised to find out: there are no accidents, everything is free ahead, and ask a logical question: “What was it ?!” And the reason is the merging of several powerful streams with a total width of 7-8 lanes into 4 lanes of the Third Ring ..

Standing ramp

If it is impossible to leave the highway due to a narrow exit or a traffic jam further, the “tail” of the traffic jam quickly blocks traffic. For this reason, the inner side of the Third Ring Road is constantly standing before the exit to Mira Avenue. Instead of the provided one lane, drivers often occupy two at once. As a result, instead of three lanes, only two go straight! It produces the same effect bottleneck”, only not because of the narrowing of the road, but because of the “weaning” of the lane by those standing. After all, those who are still 3-4 kilometers away from the bottleneck have to slow down.

It is impossible to completely get rid of the problem in this part of the TTC, says Mukhortikov. But to unload the flow and make the movement more free is quite real. For example, to cover the exit from the Third Ring Road to Prospekt Mira with a two-lane traffic island so that cars from the Third Ring drive onto the avenue at a higher speed. Thus, the lanes on the TTK will be released faster, the speed will increase, and the congestion, if it does not “come to naught”, then it will become noticeably less.

"Problem" congresses are also familiar to those who daily try to get off the outer Third Ring Road in the area of Volgogradsky and Ryazansky avenues. Even before the beginning of the reconstruction of both roads in the evening, one could spend a couple of hours here. The reason, as in the case of Nizhnyaya Maslovka, is the wrong organization of the exit from the Third Ring Road in the area of Nizhegorodskaya Street and Volgogradsky Prospekt and problems on the avenues themselves, which are not yet able to receive traffic from the Third Ring Road. It is hoped that this problem will be solved by reconstruction.

Broach of highways

At some complex intersections, the operation of traffic lights is set up so that one of the directions has priority and travels, for example, 70% of the time of the traffic light, while others are “clamped” and only 10-15% are allocated to them (in each direction). As a rule, radial, outgoing lines are in priority.

It is for this reason that those who regularly pass in the area of the 2nd and 3rd Vladimirskaya streets suffer. Now the traffic lights are "pulling" the highway of Enthusiasts. In addition, throughout recent years 10 this section of the Moscow road - the zone is enough intensive work. Two projects are being implemented here simultaneously: the reconstruction of the highway with the creation of dedicated lanes for public transport and construction of a section of the North-Eastern Expressway.

In addition, the Enthusiasts Highway is a road that, even without reconstruction, has a number of narrowed sections of the road. “One of the most unpleasant nodes is near the Aviamotornaya metro station,” says Mukhortikov. “There is a metro station, a bridge, traffic lights, and traffic in the most different directions, and tram rails. We still have some work to do with it. It is possible to unload this section, we see the potential for improvement there. But it must be said right away that this will be a rather complex set of decisions. It is unlikely that here it will be possible to manage only by changing the operation of traffic lights and markings, as we do in most cases. Here, perhaps, something more ambitious is needed. And in any case, we must wait for the completion of construction work.

The same problem is on Nikulinskaya Street, which motorists drew attention to. It is adjacent to Michurinsky Prospekt, which is lined with traffic lights, while Nikulinskaya is left with "crumbs" of the traffic light cycle. The problem can be solved only by building a flyover or at least expanding it in front of the intersection.

"Self-locking" intersections

A common situation is when oncoming left-turn flows at a “boulevard” intersection do not fit into the allotted pockets and block each other’s passage on both sides.

Before the start of reconstruction, there were two such intersections in the vicinity of the Tekstilshchiki metro station. The main traffic jam arose in a small area, but those who were going to leave the Third Ring Road in this direction and those who were driving along Volgogradka to the center had to suffer because of it, standing in a traffic jam.

The TsODD noted that after the completion of the reconstruction of the roads, these sections will be significantly unloaded, congestion at this interval of the Third Ring Road should disappear or, in any case, decrease.

Lack of stripes

So many cars enter the stretch of road from the surrounding streets that for free movement additional stripes and "pockets" are needed.

This is exactly what those who travel on inside Moscow Ring Road from Lipetskaya towards Varshavka. There are no detours in this area of Moscow, and everyone who wants to get to the South-West of the capital has to go to the Moscow Ring Road. In theory, additional lanes near the exit from the Moscow Ring Road will be able to maintain the flow rate. On ordinary city roads, this can be done not only by widening the road, but also by reducing the width of existing lanes from the usual 3.75 or 3.5 meters to 3.25 or 3.15 m. The trouble is that this solution not suitable for high-speed MKAD.

The worst offenders

They are always in a hurry, so they don't want to wait for their turn. Such drivers, when turning or exiting, occupy the second lane, which should go straight, and create an obstacle.

Another type of violator is those who are trying to abruptly change lanes from the far left lane to the far right. Due to such "hurried" congestion can form even where the road has the highest capacity. What can we say about places where there are already too many cars?

We have already begun to deal with the perpetrators. Admittedly, it's not very noticeable. CCTV cameras have been installed on some sections of the road, which should record the wrong exit onto the road or exit from the highway or highway.

The only traffic jam from our list that did not fall into any of the listed reasons is located on Schukinskaya and Pekhodnaya streets. The reason, according to the TsODD, turned out to be simple - the reconstruction of the Volokolamsk highway.

For the eyes of an ordinary driver, the situation on this section of the road did not change for several months. There seemed to be no place for a cork to come from. Before leaving for Volokolamka, drivers usually "flew", and for the last couple of weeks they have to trail in the company of the same unfortunate ones. How so?

“It just seems that nothing changes during the reconstruction of the road. Something happens in the work area every day. Most likely, some part of the roadway in this place was slightly “moved” or blocked. It's not very noticeable to the eye, but throughput roads are affected, ”explains Mukhortikov.
