Traffic jams on the inner side of the Moscow Ring Road now.

Inside the Garden Ring average speed traffic increased by about 4% in the morning and 5% in the evening rush hour - apparently due to the introduction paid parking one . In the TTK zone, the situation has not changed much. The strongest improvements - by almost 9% in the morning and 3% in the evening - occurred in the area between the Third Ring Road and the Moscow Ring Road, which may be due to active road construction. For example, a junction was built at the intersection of the Moscow Ring Road with Volgogradsky Prospekt, flyovers on Profsoyuznaya Street, Mozhayskoye and Varshavskoye Highways - as a result, the travel time on the corresponding sections of roads was noticeably reduced.

Serious deterioration is also often associated with road works. For example, the speed of traffic dropped sharply on the Third Ring Road between Kutuzovsky and Leninsky prospects - where the road was narrowed due to repairs. There are more traffic jams on some sections of the Moscow Ring Road due to the reconstruction of interchanges: for example, with Leninsky and Michurinsky prospects, Mozhaysky and Kashirsky highways, Library passage (Businovskaya interchange).

If we talk about major highways in general, the situation has improved most noticeably on the Entuziastov Highway, Profsoyuznaya Street and Ryazansky avenue: the travel time on these highways has decreased by more than 10%. On the Moscow Ring Road, the average speed increased by almost 9%, on the Third Ring Road and Sadovoye - by 5-6%.

Noticeable deterioration was recorded on highways New ArbatKutuzov Avenue- Rublevskoe highway and Barrikadnaya - Zvenigorodskoe highway - Marshal Zhukov Avenue, where the average speed during peak hours fell by 10%. In the first case, blame Men at work on Kutuzovsky prospect. And on Krasnopresnensky Prospekt, the flow probably increased due to motorists who used to get to the center along other highways.

Key figures and facts

  • The evening rush hour in Moscow is heavier than the morning rush hour solely because of the increased workload in the center.
  • The least traffic jams and difficulties in Moscow happen on Mondays, and most of all - on Thursdays.
  • IN morning hour the peak to the center is the worst road of Entuziastov, Volgogradsky Prospekt and the highway Yaroslavl highway- peace Avenue. In the evening, the most difficult situation is on the highway Novy Arbat - Kutuzovsky Prospekt - Mozhayskoye Highway. And in the morning to the center, and in the evening from the center, the Barrikadnaya highway - Zvenigorodskoe highway - Marshal Zhukov Avenue is best.
  • On the Third Ring Road and the Moscow Ring Road, both sides are loaded approximately equally, and at the Garden Ring, the outer side goes much worse than the inner one.
  • In the year that has passed since the autumn of 2013, the traffic situation in Moscow has slightly improved: the travel time on the capital's streets during peak hours has decreased by an average of 5%. This is the first time since at least 2010 that we have seen positive changes on Moscow roads. Previously, the workload only increased.
  • Inside the Garden Ring, congestion decreased by about 4% in the morning and 5% in the evening rush hour due to the introduction of paid parking. In the TTK zone, the situation has not changed much. The strongest improvements - almost 9% in the morning and 3% in the evening - occurred in the area between the Third Ring Road and the Moscow Ring Road, this is primarily due to active road construction.
  • Among major highways, the situation improved the most on Entuziastov Highway, Profsoyuznaya Street and Ryazansky Prospekt: the travel time on these highways decreased by more than 10%. On the Moscow Ring Road, the average speed increased by almost 9%, on the Third Ring Road and Sadovoye - by 5-6%.
  • Noticeable deterioration was recorded on the highways Novy Arbat - Kutuzovsky Prospekt - Rublevskoye Highway and Barrikadnaya - Zvenigorodskoye Highway - Marshal Zhukov Avenue, where the average speed during peak hours fell by 10%.

Online road maps of the cities of St. Petersburg and Moscow, free information from Yandex traffic jams, Autoradio Auto Monitor and Cityguide navigator for today, traffic jams on the Moscow Ring Road and Ring Road, show information about traffic jams on the highway, streets and main highways with photos. In some places it is difficult to drive along the Vyborgskoye highway and Kolomyazhsky prospect. Sverdlovskaya and Arsenalnaya embankments are usually free.

According to the information bulletin "Traffic jams in St. Petersburg", dedicated to traffic congestion in St. Petersburg, from Yandex, the main milestones and trends:

According to the Yandex.Traffic service, December 2009 is the most difficult month for motorists in the entire history of observations. December 2010 - and even more so.

According to Yandex.Traffic, every year traffic in the streets of St. Petersburg grows by more than 2 points - from 3 points in February 2009 to 5.3 points in February 2010 and more. Part of this large increase is due to the extraordinary snowy winter.

The quietest period for motorists - new year holidays. Traffic jams are the least.

Until the winter of 2010, Monday was the least busy day for several years. Then everything became equal and on all weekdays the number of traffic jams was almost equal.

Residents of St. Petersburg spend almost one and a half times less time in traffic jams than residents of Moscow. about the power of traffic jams. St. Petersburg is similar to Kyiv and Yekaterinburg, but St. Petersburg residents go out on the roads later and return home later.

The biggest traffic jams happen on the eve of the holidays and in bad weather. Separately, the holidays and the weather are not so terrible yet - for example, on April 30, when people left the city before the May holidays, the average traffic congestion was 4.8 points, and on November 10, when it was snowing, - 5.3 points. In December, when snowfalls coincide with pre-holiday shopping, motorists have the hardest time - the city gets stuck in traffic jams. The main traffic jams during snowfall, before the May holidays, during heavy rains. There are few traffic jams under the following conditions: New Year holidays, February 23, March 8, May holidays, June 12, July-August - holiday season, November 4. The traffic jams are distributed almost evenly across the regions:
South direction
districts Kirovsky, the northern part of Krasnoselsky, Moscow, South part Nevsky, Petrodvorets and Frunzensky
North direction
Vyborgsky, Kalininsky, Kurortny and Primorsky districts
East direction
districts Krasnogvardeisky and the northern part of Nevsky
The most loaded (traffic jams on the map above) are the following streets of St. Murmansk Highway to Cable-stayed bridge, in the summer everything is constantly standing on Murmanka and near Ikea-Mega. Often there is Krasnoputilovskaya Street, Mitrofanevskoe Highway to the center, a traffic jam on Vitebsky Prospekt in the morning to the center from Kuznetsovskaya Street, then Blagodatnaya, and so on to Ligovsky Prospekt. In connection with the opening of the Gallery, there is often Ligovsky Prospekt from Obvodny to Kuznechny Lane, and almost always in front of the square. Foundry is often worth it. In the evening, after work, the Oktyabrskaya Embankment slows down towards the Volodarsky Bridge, then the Volodarsky Bridge itself, Narodnaya Street and Sorting (popularly - just Sorting). Glory is moving, although when the Ring Road is standing, everyone is rushing through Kupchino and standing on Glory Street. Often in Lately Bolshevik Avenue stands near the Dybenko metro station towards Narodnaya Street. In the area of Ladoga everything is godlessly. The same picture is observed on Lesnoy Prospekt and Bolshoy Sampsonievsky. Savushka and Testers stand permanently.
The Yandex.Traffic service revealed in road system Moscow has several dozen “bottlenecks” with the largest difference in speeds before and after the bottleneck. The most annoying bottleneck» in the morning rush hour - this is the intersection of Volgogradsky Prospekt and Lyublinskaya Street. During the evening rush hour, drivers lose most of their time in a traffic jam on the Leningradskoye Highway in front of the Moscow Ring Road.

Traffic jams, without exaggeration, can be called the "scourge of modernity." This is especially true for Moscow and other metropolitan areas. Although they are being fought everywhere, to date the result leaves much to be desired. In order not to lose precious hours, idle in traffic jams, it is advisable to use online card Yandex. Traffic jams in Moscow can now be tracked on the Moscow Ring Road, on the Volokolamsk and Riga highways and other directions.

The service shows:

  • fullness road directions in points (per this moment time and average) in various colors.
  • Flow speed in km/h.
  • Incident points.
  • Dislocation of repair activities.
  • Video from cameras in Moscow.

Viewing reminder

The congestion indicator of the road section is shown using different colors:

The speed can be found by pointing the pointer at the desired section of the route.

Note! In the absence of verified information, the road section is not highlighted using color.

The unit of measure for the presence of congestion is "point". Points are reflected in accordance with the intensity of the fullness of the route.

Workload is measured on a 10-point scale. It looks something like this:

The route congestion forecast is given for 1 hour. It is viewed by dragging the slider onto the Now / After an hour scale to the required indicator.

Note! toggle switch Today / Statistics is required to put on the indicator Today.

Events in the direction of interest are also viewed. To do this, there is a function Traffic events. When this button is pressed, signs informing about the situation appear:

To view the details, check the box “Traffic Events”:

Traffic statistics are determined for different days of the week and time of day. To get to know her:

  • The switch is set to the indicator Statistics.
  • The day of interest is pressed.
  • The engine moves to the required position.

With the help of the Yandex Traffic Jams service, the driver has the opportunity to determine how much time he will lose due to traffic jams. For example, when GPA is equal to 7, which means that the travel time will increase by about 2 times. It should be borne in mind that for different cities the scale has a different setting. Thus, 6 points in St. Petersburg corresponds to a 5-point situation in Moscow.

Traffic in Moscow periodically resembles a general standing or confrontation, rather than the usual movement of vehicles. Not for nothing, in this metropolis for a long time getting to work or another place in time can take a couple of hours, and this is considered a completely acceptable norm.

Traffic jams are the main characteristic of the city, which is talked about by both permanent residents and guests of the capital.

And indeed, starting from eight, or even from seven o'clock in the morning until late at night (until about two o'clock), Moscow stands still. Traffic in Moscow is limited not only because of large cluster cars trying to get through the right direction. For example, traffic jams on the ring road ( Garden Ring road) are often formed due to road repairs, narrow streets to which the exit from a multi-lane autobahn is limited, improper parking and numerous accidents.

It is no secret that in the metropolis the driving style is far from polite and often legal, and the “cheap national taxi” only aggravates the situation along with numerous minibus drivers who are trying to break through in the right direction, regardless of any rules. Commercial urban transport also “sees nothing”, especially when parking for unloading in the city center, and tram lines are crowded with fast riders, so ringing trailers can only call demandingly or run into uninvited guests. By the way, now city transport drivers have the right to perform such actions based on certain situations. But despite all these factors, most traffic jams in Moscow are still caused by accidents, albeit not terrible, but taking time to wait for the traffic police and the arrival of insurance commissioners.

Cars in the metropolis are different, in most cases the power under the hood is enough for quick start, overtaking and jerking, therefore, on the outer and inner Moscow Ring Road (especially from the exits), accidents are the norm. Drivers change from lane to lane, which creates congestion, the left turn from the extreme (high-speed) right lane is especially popular. Often in the most
remote corners of our Motherland, you can hear legends about Moscow traffic jams. Having driven once during rush hour, a driver from the outback can already apply for gold medal endurance, courage and fearlessness. Parking interceptions do not really solve the problems of the center, however, the traffic on the Moscow Ring Road is also now saturated and standing, so a detour along this transport route often does not give the desired result, despite the increased mileage and increased gas mileage.

Every resident of Moscow, who moves around the city on wheels, begins his journey long before getting into the car. Modern internet Yandex traffic jams systems unmistakably help to choose the path of movement with the least losses. In addition, in Yandex traffic jams, there is not only information for now, but also forecasts for several hours ahead. The same system is used by popular radio stations that sound in car interiors, where drivers themselves often call and report on the situation on the roads. A similar service is also provided on Yandex traffic jams, where you can read the comments of standing motorists online. Such information can now be invaluable, saving not only the time of citizens, but also their gasoline, money and nerves.

Yandex traffic jams can be used outside the home for a long time, as the company has released more than one updated application for mobile computers, laptops, smartphones and tablets. So if there is not enough time to look at the situation on the roads for now, this can be done safely when the car is warming up. Yandex also allows you to successfully evaluate traffic jams on the outer side of the Moscow Ring Road and traffic on the inner side of the Moscow Ring Road, where traffic jams are typical for the morning, regardless of the logic of movement in antiphase. Narrow places of exits and arrivals, new interchanges do not in any way contribute to fast movement along all high-speed lanes, where the mode of movement is not limited by traffic lights and is shown as 100 km / h.

The presence of cameras - registrars, which are installed throughout the city, can also be determined along the route, thanks to the Yandex maps and Yandex traffic jams systems (the second insert on interactive map). It is also necessary to take into account the traffic on the Moscow Ring Road before the weekend, often starting from Thursday this detour is the most congested, since when getting to work by metro, summer residents still risk driving for the weekend, taking with them all the necessary belongings from home. And on Saturday and Sunday summer period the paths to the traditional barbecue in the nearest suburbs will be completely blocked by those wishing to relax. As a conclusion, we can recommend building a trip in advance, focusing on the situation on the roads using interactive information maps (Yandex, Google), then the movement in Moscow and on the Moscow Ring Road will be smooth and fast.

Traffic jams on the Moscow Ring Road: symptoms and treatment March 25th, 2013

Why is the Moscow Ring Road standing despite its 10 traffic light lanes? And what to do with it?
Surely these questions were asked by almost every driver who at least once stood in a many-hour traffic jam on the Moscow Ring Road.

One of the reasons is sometimes called "too frequent exits-arrivals"
Let's see if that's the case. Here is a map of exits for 2011 from a Probok.net study on traffic police posts at the entrances to Moscow. There are 49 entrances here.

In a year and a half, 4 new ones were opened: the second exit from Kurkino and an understudy Dmitrovskoe highway plus 2 ligaments, pierced by the efforts of Probok.net - a passage under the Moscow Ring Road at 18 km and a bridge across the Moscow Ring Road at km 87. There were 53 in total. Dividing 109 km (the length of the Moscow Ring Road) by 53, we get an average of 1 entry / exit per 2.05 km. Which is quite within the framework of world practice for highways in agglomerations.

Of course, the distribution of exits is uneven: on average, 1 exit per 1.7 km in the western part and 1 for every 3.4 km in the eastern part of the Moscow Ring Road. But practice shows that with a distance between interchanges of 1-1.5 km, there are no problems with crossing flows, and right-turn ramps are acceptable more often. So the "frequency" of exits and entrances has nothing to do with it. On the contrary, they are clearly not enough in the eastern part of the city.

What are the causes of traffic jams on the Moscow Ring Road?
There are, as always, a lot of them. It should also be remembered that a lot shopping centers along the Moscow Ring Road, and poor road connectivity in Moscow and the region along the Moscow Ring Road. Violations of traffic rules and the absence of places of an emergency stop. Big number heavy trucks in general and their “slipping” in winter in particular.

All this is true. But there is another group of reasons, and it will probably be the most important. This is a poor organization of exits and interchanges on the Moscow Ring Road. Components of the problem:

1. Clover interchanges can't handle the load and "self-lock"
First of all, this applies to interchanges with large outbound highways. Moreover, the wider the highway in the region and in Moscow, the more serious the problem. The problem is aggravated by the absence of acceleration and deceleration lanes.

How this happens, we will show on the example of the clover interchange of the Moscow Ring Road with the M4 "Don" and Lipetskaya street. The diagram shows a traffic jam on the "clover petal" from M4 from the region to the inner Moscow Ring Road. Those waiting in line for entry stand in several rows and practically block direct passage to Moscow. Further, those standing in a traffic jam begin to interfere with the exit from the Moscow Ring Road to Moscow (they have to “leak”, the traffic jam at the exit passes to the Moscow Ring Road, on the Moscow Ring Road drivers also get up in 3-4 lanes and further along the chain.

Interestingly, this congestion is observed most of the time, even when the Moscow Ring Road is free. Its reason is in the small bandwidth left-handed clover petals (about 1000-1200 cars per hour). This is sufficient when there are 2 traffic light or 3 traffic light lanes in each direction on the crossing highway. When the number of lanes reaches 4 in one direction, and the highway becomes traffic-free, the demand grows to 1500-2000 cars per hour. Not surprisingly, there is almost always a traffic jam here.

2. "Slow" flows of exits and entrances are in no way separated from the "fast" main flow
talking scientific language, on the Moscow Ring Road there is no separation of carriageways into transit and collector. This in itself slows down the right lane even without traffic jams, and in combination with the mass of violators who want to bypass the traffic jam, it also slows down 1-2 neighboring lanes.

How this problem arises, we have already seen above. And here is an illustration of the consequences on the example of the junction of the Kashirskoye highway with the Kolomensky passage. Because of this effect on the Kashirskoye Highway in the evening arises cork towards the center before the denouement, and after it everything is free:

Effective administrative means of combating this violation have not yet been invented.

3. Traffic lights located close to the interchanges with the Moscow Ring Road on the streets and highways
In some cases, the traffic light is located almost at the junction itself. Most a prime example blunder - the intersection of Ostashkovskoye Highway with Severodvinskaya Street and Studeny Proyezd, which for 10 years has been collecting a multi-kilometer tail along outside MKAD, and now sometimes began to collect on the inside. By the way, on the outside, the clover was “expanded” to 2 rows from the standard 1, and recently something similar was done on the inside of the Moscow Ring Road. But a traffic light and a traffic police post brought all these works to naught.

I'm a big believer in traffic lights. great way motion control. So, for the safety and convenience of pedestrians, improve traffic.
But when a traffic light blocks traffic on the Moscow Ring Road, creating problems for tens of thousands of people every day, it is obvious that something needs to be done, and done urgently.

Ostashkovskoe highway - not the only place with a similar problem. We observe the same thing at the entrance from the Moscow Ring Road to Strogino and many other places.

What are the authorities planning to do?
The draft layout of the Moscow Ring Road, which is being prepared by the Moscow Committee for Architecture and the NIiPI General Plan, provides for means of combating all three causes.

1. Almost everything clover interchanges reconstructed, completing the construction of trestle directed congresses
Approximately as it is now done at interchanges with Novorizhskoye, Leningradskoye, Yaroslavskoye, Varshavskoye highways:

This is what the interchange between Yaroslavsky and the Moscow Ring Road looks like in 3D:

Thanks to Airpano.ru for the beauty.

2. At all interchanges, as well as at other exits, there will be "collector-distribution" side passages
They will be physically isolated from the main course of the Moscow Ring Road. As a rule, they will start 100-300 meters before the interchange, and end 100-300 meters after. This will allow:
- isolate rebuilding and crushing in the right rows from the direct high-speed course
- Eliminate mass violations of traffic rules by physically fencing off side passages of small width.
Now something similar has been built at the "fresh" junction - the exit from Kurkino. True, it is difficult to assess the advantages of side passages here - the interchange is relatively lightly loaded and simple, it was also made “with a margin”:

3. Traffic lights located close to the exit points on the streets and highways will be removed
It is for this reason that during the reconstruction of the Kashirsky and Warsaw highway were built in the first case - turning tunnel, in the second - a turning overpass. Many (including me) intuitively think that these objects are not the most needed, because There are no traffic jams because of these traffic lights now. But you need to understand that this was done "with a margin" for the future of 2-5 years (reconstruction of interchanges on the Moscow Ring Road and increased traffic on the radial highway itself).

Here is what has already been done on Varshavsky and Kashirsky near the Moscow Ring Road:

What about implementation?
The next in line for reconstruction are interchanges in the southern sector of the Moscow Ring Road, as one of the most problematic. Terms - from 2 to 4 years. How it will look can be seen in the diagrams below (clickable). Schemes are purely preliminary, from the "draft planning project" from NIiPI, as of August 2012. Final projects can (and certainly will) be different!

Interchange of MKAD with Karamzin passage (exit to Sevastopolsky):

Interchange of MKAD with Lipetskaya street and M4:

Will this be enough to completely heal the Moscow Ring Road from traffic jams?
I believe this will solve most of the problems of the Moscow Ring Road. But in order to finally get rid of traffic jams on the Moscow Ring Road, at least 4 more problems will need to be solved:
- Improve connectivity road network on the outskirts of the city
- Think about how and where to quickly and legally remove emergency vehicles from the roadway
- To overcome the phenomenon of "roadside detour"
- Reconstruct the Small Concrete Ring (and build the Central Ring Road, as soon as they decided to do it)

But more about that another time.
