The northeastern chord, 26.6 km long, will connect the southeast and north of Moscow along the periphery. It began to be built as a continuation of the only already erected section of the Fourth Ring Road in the area of the Enthusiasts Highway.
The chord will pass from toll road Moscow - St. Petersburg from the western side of Oktyabrskaya railway, along the Small Ring of Moscow Railways to new interchange on the Moscow Ring Road at the intersection with the Veshnyaki - Lyubertsy highway. The chord will connect the major highways of the city - the Moscow Ring Road, the Enthusiasts highway, Izmailovskoye, Shchelkovskoye, Otkrytoye, Yaroslavskoye, Altufevskoye and Dmitrovskoye highways. By the end of this year, one of the most difficult sections of the chord will be launched - from the Entuziastov highway to Izmailovsky highway. It has been under construction since 2008. Drivers are already driving here on the segment from Perovskaya Street to Izmailovsky Highway. In addition, there are exits on the Enthusiasts Highway towards the center and towards the region.
To ensure normal traffic, 15 overpasses with a total length of almost 10 kilometers are to be built at the interchange of the North-Eastern Chord with Entuziastov Highway and Budyonny Avenue, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said during a recent inspection of the construction site. - I hope that the main works will be completed by the end of the year. The route of the section will run along the tracks of the Moscow central ring(MCC) and will cross the highway of Entuziastov in the area of the metro station of the same name. Now construction and reconstruction are taking place not only on the highway itself, but also on neighboring Perovskaya Street, Anosova Street, Elektrodny Proezd and local driveways. Five overpasses are already ready. By the end of this year, five more flyovers, five pedestrian crossings, as well as 7.3 km of tram tracks will appear.
After the launch of this section, the Izmailovskoye and Shchelkovskoye highways, the Entuziastov highway and Budyonny Avenue will be unloaded. At the same time, transit traffic will open from Perovskaya Street to the North-Eastern Chord and further to the areas of Sokolinaya Gora, Preobrazhenskoye, East and North Izmailovo. The northeastern chord was divided into seven sections (see diagram). Of these, two are already ready - from Businovskaya road junction before festival street, from Izmailovsky to Shchelkovskoye highway (except for the tunnel under Shchelkovskoye highway). Three more sections are currently under construction - from the Moscow Ring Road to the Entuziastov Highway, from the Entuziastov Highway to Izmailovsky Highway, from Festivalnaya Street to Dmitrovskoe highway.
At the end of 2018, it is planned to open a 5-kilometer section from Festivalnaya Street to Dmitrovskoye Highway. Four overpasses, five kilometers of exits from them, an overpass over the railway and a bridge across the Likhoborka River will be built here. The road will have 3-4 lanes for traffic in each direction. As a result, it will be more convenient for residents northern regions Moscow - Golovinsky, Koptev and Timiryazevsky.
In the future, in the north of the capital, the North-Eastern chord will be connected with the North-Western chord (it will run from Skolkovo to Yaroslavl highway). The idea of building chord highways was born in the city more than forty years ago, but they came to its realization only now, when it became finally clear that there were not enough roads between the districts, and there was nothing for transit traffic to do in the center. Highway location
Along the periphery, the North-Eastern chord should connect the northern and southeastern part capitals, that is, areas with the most densely populated populations.
In the east, in one part, it will go along the Moscow Ring Road. This road will connect such major highways as Schelkovskoye, Altufevskoye, Izmailovskoye and Otkrytoye. From the Businovskaya interchange, motorists will leave in two directions - to the northwest and northeast. At the same time, the Moscow ring road in the south, it will have to be expanded if the authorities decide to extend both chords to it. The north-eastern chord, firstly, will connect the capital with the western bypass of Odintsovo, and secondly, it will descend in the east to the Veshnyaki-Lyubertsy interchange. After that, it is planned to build a highway along which it will be possible to drive to Noginsk.
The project of the section of the chord from the sh. Enthusiasts to MKAD
A feature of the project of the North-East Chord is that it is being developed in parts.
In 2012, projects for sections were approved - from the Businovskaya interchange to the street. Festivalnaya and the overpass at the intersection of the street. Taldomskaya from the Oktyabrskaya railway. In 2013, the following competitions were announced:
- On the site from sh. Enthusiasts to the ring road.
- On the site from sh. Izmailovsky to sh. Shchelkovsky.
In the first case, the following activities were planned:
- Construction of an interchange at the intersection of the chord with the street. Kuskovskaya.

- Construction of a pedestrian crossing in the place where the North-Eastern Expressway will approach the Moscow Ring Road.

In the event that the chords are stretched to the Moscow Ring Road, instead of the CTK, a triangle will turn out. Solution in this case will depend on which project will be cheaper. The disadvantage of transverse highways is that in recent times clearly manifested in this big metropolis like Moscow. For this very reason, the North-Eastern chord will be stretched through the entire city.
Travel on two overpasses of the exit, as well as on the railway overpass through the sh. Enthusiasts opened back in 2012. Among other things, a section of the main road was built, almost 2 km long. AT total the project covers about 25 km of roadway. The section of the CCT between sh. Enthusiastov and Izmailovsky should be put into operation in 2015.
Approximate cost of the project
It is assumed that the construction of the North-Eastern Expressway will cost the Moscow authorities 70 billion rubles. Khusnullin said back in August last year that the costs could amount to no more than 30-35 billion rubles.
The authorities had to find the optimal balance between cost and throughput future highway. In the event that it is built a large number of different kind artificial objects, the track will become faster, but also more expensive.
Competition: section from Shchelkovsky highway to Otkrytoye
At the beginning of this year, two overpasses were opened on the interval from the Entuziastov highway to Izmailovsky. The tender for the construction of the next section was announced in December 2013. Its results were summed up in early March of this year. It is planned to build at least three or four lane highways in one direction only. The road will run along the MK MZhD from Schelkovo highway to the street. Losinoostrovskaya. The length of the section will be 3.2 km. This is approximately 10% of the total. According to the project, the following activities will also be carried out on this site:
- construction of a transport interchange in the area of the intersection of the chord with the Open Highway;
- construction of two ramps to Otkrytoye Highway with outside highways;
- arrangement of passage under the Mytishchi overpass with the possibility of a U-turn.
In order for motorists to have the opportunity to exit the Shchelkovo highway onto the chord towards the center, an overpass will be built. There are plans to build another one in the future. A right-turn exit will also be organized to Losinoostrovskaya Street.
After the construction is completed, the North-Eastern Chord, the scheme of which is presented a little higher, will connect many important areas of the city. In 2014 on road construction 90 billion rubles have been allocated in the capital. At the same time, it is planned to put into operation 76.6 km of newly built and reconstructed roads.
